Lol! We’re not THAT far behind in Australia!!
I’d need a pretty good time machine to enjoy my Tuesday again…
Friday morning here on the east coast of Australia, and I have the day off work, so I think I will have a great day in Tyria.
Thanks, Gaile

Just a quick post, feel free to close the thread straight away…
- A little background…
Yesterday, (about 5:00pm Australian EDT) I was inaccurately banned for botting, macros etc. After which I immediately lodged a support ticket…
Today, (about 10:30am Australian EDT) the support ticket was answered, false ban was lifted, and I’m back in the game!
- The main message…
Thank you very much to all the support team!! I realize the time difference makes it difficult for Oceanic players to get help in the peak times, so an overnight fix is fantastic! I was annoyed at the initial problem, but the response was fast and hassle free. (I realize this may not be the case for everyone, but personally, I’m very satisfied with the service)
And on a personal note, thank you Gaile Gray for your tireless moderation and replies in the forums! Knowing someone is actively reading posts is a great piece of mind for the community.
Just 2 cents I felt was worth sharing… Too much negativity on forums, especially (and I guess, understandably) on account issue and trouble shooting ones.
Cheers!
You know it’s funny, because I understand the advice being given to newbies here, but my experience has been somewhat different. I am in the event area a lot not because I’m trying to grind out levels, but because, well, it’s fun.
In fact, I wish I was getting less XP because I don’t really want to gain levels quickly. I just like the sheer chaos of this huge scrum of people running around killing nasty bosses. The loot’s pretty nice too — I have lots of coin now and more karma than I know what to do with.
I actually find the Mad King area is teaching me more about combat than the regular world areas. I’m getting my levels and hit points scaled up to level 80, but not my gear and abilities so much, so it’s a challenge.
In the normal places it’s pretty easy for me to be careful and avoid difficult situations where I might die. In the Mad King place it’s utter insanity, all the mobs are nasty, and I really have to be careful to stay alive. I also have had to work on my gear and technique so that I do enough damage to get drops, which isn’t really an issue when soloing.
I’m trying to do both, since it does get a bit dull to kill the same bosses over and over. But the, well, madness of it all is fun.
The higher the rank, the more populated and less dead the server is likely to be. However, the queue times may be higher as well.
miss half the game? far as I can tell theres new content all the time. I am not worried about the perfect story line etc. Id just like to play my way. The way that brings me joy.
Which is usually leveling fast as I can and face rolling things.
Always 1 oyster in the bay.
Let’s not go down this road, again.

The Black Lion stuff makes them more money than a subscription model.
That sounds a-peel-ing
This is a supremely absurd idea for multiple reasons.
I don’t think a sub fee would make ArenaNet earn more money at all. F2P/B2P MMOs often earn more money than P2P MMOs, and the NCSoft earnings report have shown that GW2 is still going strong in terms of both sales and gem store.
Free access to all items on the gem store for subscribers? Really? Let me just stock up on all the items they’re selling (bank access, repair canisters, BL chests etc) and I won’t have a reason to pay the sub next month. No way that they would do this.
Monthly subs are a fading trend in the mmo industry. Nobody likes paying rent for a game they buy. Make some things for the gemshop that people will actually want and the money will flow. Make expansions like nightfall and factions and even more money will flow. A monthly fee to unlock content would only be a nail in it`s coffin.
A) The $ goes on the left. $5. $10. $15.
B) It would make them more money to do the exact opposite of this idea. As in, not implement it.

This isn’t a mandatory thing. It is a private event held in game for those who wish to partake. No one is required to participate or donate or support. I honestly don’t care who holds private events for anything. That is their prerogative.
However this is a medical issue, not a religious or military one. It is something that affects all races, creeds, religions, cultures, and countries. I really don’t understand how you can make comparisons of cancer issues to religious or military ones.
If they kept it to private chat, then I suppose that wouldn’t bother me.
The comparison is to illustrate how easy it is to justify something. I could make the argument that because most people are on American servers, that the war affects them all. I could say that because a very high percentage of Americans identify with a certain religion, that there is enough evidence to support a “rally.”
Again, I just want people to be aware and conscious of what affect these things may have in the context of a game.
yes, it’s a game, but its an MMO, NOT a normal, single player RPG
It’s about community (or at least should be, no matter what we all may think) and in this community, EVERY single person is affected by medical issues like Cancer
No matter what the media may think, these are games played by ADULTS (average North American gamer is mid 30’s, is married with a child and earns $34,000 a year according to a recent study) and it is adults that need awareness of medical issues such as this
Hell, if Comics can raise awareness of things like this, why not an MMO like GW2?

On one hand I think this is a cool idea, but on the other I’m not entirely convinced this is the best thing to be doing.
The reason is that there are many causes out there that people feel passionate about. The problem of course is that those passions aren’t always felt the same by everyone involved.
So, while most people might be perfectly ok with supporting breast cancer month, they may not be as ok with a “support the troops” or a religious cause.
I think everyones heart is in the right place, but I think we need to be very careful about bringing real world politics, causes, and such into a game with a varied community.
In addition, I don’t feel that we should entertain any charity or money exchanging. There is simply too much room for abuse.

Pink Day in LA is an old regular in game, in GW1 they eve added a proper Pink dye for the day aswell
Unlike the other two you mentioned, everyone’s life is affected by cancer in one way or another and both men and women can be affected by breast cancer
Hell, we should also do a Blue day too for Prostate cancer too

How does wearing pink help awareness? How does putting pink pixels on an in game character help awareness? Its dumb when the NFL does it, and even worse in a video game. It is a fad, and people think wearing a color helps. HINT: It doesn’t.
Want to really help? Donate to Cancer research. Want to help even more? Set up a folding @ home pc. Or just jump on the pink fad, and try to make it seem like you are “helping”.
Pink day in LA does raise money for cancer research. That’s part of function. Go to their website and see. But as far as raising awareness, the pink day in LA people often get asked why everyone is in pink and it is a chance to tell others who may not know or are involved with raising money for cancer research can find out about it and GET involved.
Your clear vehemence is really uncalled for. People are trying to do good things and you are mocking them for it? That is small and petty.
I am involved with the American Cancer Society and work year around to help raise money for cancer research. It has been proven that even just wearing cancer awareness shirts has an effect.
Pink Day in LA has raised tens of thousands of dollars by using this venue and having people wear pink in game. ANet supports it. They don’t deserve your rudeness, they deserve your respect for what they have accomplished through Pink Day in LA.
That’s tomorrow, isn’kitten Definitely something easy that would be great and even fun to support. Count me in.
Last year we had a cool Pink Day in LA organised by various volunteers on the servers- It was great community fun and the gem shop was not involved at all
I still have a pic of me and my husband- oh and I came last in the treasure hunt race
these other 2 a friend of mine took.
it would be really cool to do something like this again this year
It would be even better if Anet gave it a =1 too, what a good idea
Edit: ohhh the pink logo t-shirt gets my vote
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
Pink dye … not bad. How about the GW2 in-game t-shirt but with the logo in pink?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I could go with this as well. Maybe a pink dye pack (3 random pink dyes), and all the proceeds could go towards finding the cure. Even if people didn’t necessarily use them, I think people would still buy them.
Just read the FB post on the breast cancer awareness day that happens every year with everyone dressing up in pink.
I was thinking it’d be really cool, interesting and fantastic if they released a new gem shop item around the time in which a large portion or all of it’s earnings would be donated for the cause.
It’d earn my respect.
1000% agree. Pink Day in L.A. has been going on for years now and ANet has supported it in the past with a Pink Dye vendor in GW1. I think it would be incredible if they offered something that the proceeds would go to the cause! What an awesome idea!
+1 to you Delryn.
I’m sure many people post on different sections on the forum. I sure do, and I would like to see a “watch list” option where I basically can watch threads and take them off the watch list once the thread has ran its course. Just a simple convenience tool. So I’m not shuffling through multiple forum sections.
The best player in the game
“I’m better than all of you!”
OMG you people are lazy. Firstly, just use the luck as you get it, and maybe just leave 1 as your placeholder for the next few that you get.
I generally agree, I try to use mine as I go. However, there are occassions where I end up with a lot in my bags from time to time. Maybe I’m running the zerg in the Mad King’s Labyrinth, which can be pretty fast paced sometimes; I end up with a lot of gear to recycle in there. Things like that cause you to end up with more than your normal share of the Luck essences.
To outright call us all lazy isn’t fair, if this option existed you’d use it and be happy for it.

Hi,
I just killed the Skeletal Lich in the Mad King’s Maze for the first time but did not get the achievement for killing it. I did get “gold” reward status for the event to kill it, and did get the chest rewards – yet no achievement.
Server: Sea of Sorrows
Map: Mad King’s Dungeon
Time killed: Approx 8:30 am (10:30 pm UTC)
Date: 18th October 2013 (17th October UTC)
In Group: No, I was not in a group.
Overflow: No, I was not in an overflow server.
I was at the fight for the majority of the time – when I got there the Lich was at around 90% health, we were stacking on the Lich and attacking. I did enough damage to attain Gold status for the event to kill it.
I did the fight on my level 80 Asura Guardian, fighting with mace & shield – main abilities used were mace #1 & #2, as well as using my F1 skill and elite (#7 attack golem) whenever it came off cooldown.
I have successfully gotten the achievement’s for killing both the High Count Viscount of Candy Corn and the Labyrinthine Horror
Same problem here, only got the ach after the third kill. (Had gold event everytime) Asked ppl on the map channel, they told me they had to kill it more than once too to get the ach.
Need a pinned glossary somewhere. I’m lost too with the lingo. Problem is it will just be filled with kittens?
Kitten in these forums basically stands in for any profanity (with some false positives, for example, sometimes if you write the word “smash” followed by “it”, the filter disregards the spaces and replaces the last 2 letters of the first word and the 2 letters of the second with “kitten”). If you get lost with MMO lingo in general, you can check this one..
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
It sounds as though the items in question are soulbound to another character. Try hovering your pointer over one and see if there is red text saying so. If that’s the case you’ll need to find the toon they belong to in order to withdraw/salvage the items.
