If they did say ‘we are aware of the issues and are looking into it’, do you honestly believe that people would stop posting / whining about the same thing on a daily basis?
Give people one confirmation the team is aware and working to solve the problem is a step, will not fix the rage we see, but they can’t say we’re being simply ignored by the development team on our feedback. It can calm nerves down, something that is recently “up-scaling” on the forums.

Hello there.
One thing that is certainly causing many discussions about “how awful our community is” is when people give “tsunamis” of feedback, questions and reports about several things and since the patch, one incredible silence involved all ArenaNet team, if they reply threads is to warn the thread may be blocked or actually block/merge the thread.
Why so much silence? Why don’t make community know you are aware of certain issues and working on them? Or discuss alternatives with the community of points you’re open to make changes?
I think things several times scale to the points moderators need to step in due abuses, people feel they are not heard, that specific groups of players are with problems with the patch and they try to report or ask to something to be done about it and it’s just… silence, like they are not even reading.
Why don’t ANet does a simply reply on a thread just saying something like: “We know there is some issues with guild missions after the patch and we’re are working to fix them.”? (just one example)
Not only that, try to ask for constructive feedback about the things that need changes, the mega-threads can’t address specific issues.
I honestly believe when it comes to create one Healthy Community, that is a process that takes several years, the team that is behind interact with the community on this forums is not taking steps to make that happen.
Sorry my English.

it doesn’t matter if necro sux or is OP as class, it will always be nerfed with any patch
This needs to be sorted .. as a community, we should petition Arenanet to roll back his account so he gets his characters back.
Nemesis and the other Theorycrafters have been an inspiration to me as a Necromancer!
(I have to know! In WvW, do Legendary NPCs drop Legendary loot?)
I’ve been a Necromancer for a very long time. Although I often hop mains, I’ve always returned to my Necromancer as my primary character. Some time has passed since I started playing the game, and after making one of each profession and reaching 80, I can confidently say that Necromancer is, by a long shot, my favorite profession. I actually plan on making a second soon with a different race, who knows maybe even a third later on.
I love their versatility, their reputation, the overall feel of them in combat, Necromancer is just the profession I was meant to be. Everyone has that profession that suits them and this is mine without a doubt.
Share your love for the dark magic and any stories you have about player kills in PvP, WvW, epic dungeons groups or anything else Necromancy related ( :
Also for the heck of it here is the build I solo roam with in WvW.
I begin by collecting stacks with my scepter/focus. After I’ve collected all my stacks (from the environment or from other players) I switch to my scepter and dagger. Switching between the two while in a fight is a good way to stack torment + increase your condition damage/duration and/or remove boons with focus #5. When my opponent has a significant amount of conditions on them, torment being the most important, I hop in to Death Shroud, #5 for more torment, #3 to fear them, causing terror damage as well as increasing the damage from torment which causes more damage on moving targets, then I blast them with dhuumfire. This is a fairly common rotation but a lot of Necromancer’s prefer to use staff. Although very effective I just find it too slow in small scale battles. That and I’m just a huge fan of the scepter.
Anyway I look forward to hearing from my fellow evil doers ( :

Don’t answer, it’s a trap to nerf our class even more!!!
It’s not bad, but it requires an investment in a tree that is good for little else other than wells. The numbers are low and you have to take like 2 traits for it to really do anything. Furthermore, it conflicts with Death Shroud because you cannot heal while in DS and thus if you heavily use DS, a lot of it would be wasted.
The best life siphon build is a minionmancer build with axe. Minion hits will siphon life as long as you take the vampiric trait and ghastly claws hits multiple times.
The Ascii well build also has good sustain with it. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Ascii-s-WvW-Wellomancer-Build/first
For practical use, it’s probably the best build if you want to have some life steal.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Hey there Hollts. I personally prefer to use focus over dagger. Focus 4 provides solid damage, vuln, AND regen. Focus 5 is a great boon strip / CC to open with or to use when your opponent decides they’ve had enough and tries to run. Dagger 4 is a great condi clear / blind, but I replace that with Plague Signet for the clear (no blind, but meh). Never really cared much for Dagger 5. Maybe it’s just me.
However, take into account that you will look WAY cooler dual wielding daggers. Always a factor in choosing.

Necromancer are not really desirable in PvE/PvP/WvW...
in Necromancer

I see complaints about armor, but from a statistical standpoint the necromancer is the second bulkiest class in the game. Armor is overrated. The HP tiers impact much more than armor does. Look at the differences between armor ratings (exotic)
Light: 1836
Medium: 1980 (7.8% higher than light)
Heavy: 2127 (15.8% higher than light, 7.4% higher than medium)
And HP ratings:
Low: 10.805
Medium: 15,082 (38.6% higher than low)
High: 18,372 (70% higher than low, 21.8% higher than medium)
And you can see how silly this “heavies only” really is. The whole “heavies only” stereotype is perpetrated by people who are too stubborn to learn that armor doesn’t mean squat in the long run, and too impatient to learn what other classes can do.
I run full zerker necro in dungeons all of the time, and it is the tankiest toon I have. Sure, it doesn’t have the endurance regen options that other classes get, but with DS and so much health, I find I’m more than capable of just tanking a few hits. Worst case scenario, I pop a meat and orrian truffle stew and carry on like nothings different.
No, the real problem with Necros in dungeons is that we lack sufficient AoE direct damage, and that we lack potent utility. Most of the things a necro can do, another class does better, and the necro doesn’t do a whole lot of things. The big role necros have, being a debuffer, is ruined by champions having halved vulnerability and weakness duration, and also by champions spamming boons whenever they get removed, and also by nearly all enemies attacking too slowly for chill and cripple to matter.
The complaints about PVE conditions is valid. But in WvW, the condi necro is a roaming bastion of power. In 1 on 1, the necro’s massive bulk means immediate advantage in the fight, and on small scale fights the condi pressure and AoE damage the necro puts out is scary. Power necros are more difficult to play, but far from impossible. Even in zergs, I find condis to be a meaningful contribution, especially with how well staff can apply them. But in zergs, necros have another unique utility: with spectral wall, the necro is the only class that can give protection to the entire zerg. A 33% reduction in damage for 5-10 seconds for 40 people is enough to make or break a charge.
The biggest flaw with the necro in sPVP is that, due to our low amount of skill evades and mobility, and utter lack of effective direct damage burst, we ultimately aren’t in control of the fight. Our opponent either has enough cleanses to neutralize the conditions, or they don’t. Our opponent either has enough bulk to survive our burst, or they don’t. Our opponent either has the stun breaks/stability to survive the condi burst, or they don’t. In the end, there’s nothing a necro can really do, other than make a build and hope that our opponents are lacking in the end.
The necro actually has two blast finishers. Putrid explosion counts as a blast finisher, and on a 20 second cooldown it is quite spammable. Bone minions don’t have a lot of control in their placement, but most circular fields will encompass them. Now, I agree that it is weird for Well of Blood to be a light field, and I agree that Well of Blood should be a water field, but I disagree that light fields are useless in WvW. Light fields blast for retaliation, so a good light field can make a zerg incredibly dangerous to attack. Unfortunately, other classes do light fields better…
But if you want to heal someone, I’d recommend getting Transfusion. It heals for about 2.6k with no healing power over a large radius. There are some other skills you can pick up, like Deathly Invigoration, but they mostly aren’t worth it.
I agree that the necro needs some tweaks, and the necro forum is full of these tweaks, but things aren’t nearly as bad as you make it out to be.
Additonally necromancer’s had medium armor in GW1, why was this changed to light armor in gw2???
Incorrect. Necromancer armor in GW was defense 60, the same as Mesmer, Ritualist, Monk and Elementalist. 70 defense armor was for Ranger, Assassin and Dervish. 80 Defense was for Warrior and Paragon.
In GW2, heavy armor has minimal benefits. Heavy-only groups are kind of a false meta generated because Guardians are perceived as valuable because of boons and defensive procs, while Warriors were once kings of COF1 and some people haven’t gotten past that. Real meta groups are not “heavy only.”
The way the game applies damage means that the defense from Ascended armor adds 304 more to the Armor stat for heavy versus light. Add in the base 916 Toughness all characters have, and the damage divisor is either 1883 (Light) or 2187 (Heavy). A hit doing 5,000,000 base damage would do 2286 to a heavy and 2655 to a light, a difference of 396 health. That’s for berserker armor with no added toughness. In slow, heavy-hitting PvE, mitigation skills mean that armor Defense differences are a negligible factor.
Necromancers have a ton of base health, which adds way more to their survivability than having a small amount of extra Defense would add. They’ve also got Death Shroud. The reason they are not “wanted” in meta or false meta groups is that they bring relatively little that benefits the team and have been designed as an attrition class. Since PvE is first and foremost a burst, direct damage game mode, necros get short shrift.
I agree that necro players have reasons to grouse about their place in PvE, but armor is not one of the issues. Know what you’re grousing about.
I love the class. Keep in mind that the primary motivator for people when giving feedback is to complain or otherwise provide negative feedback. Someone who is content isn’t coming here to say “Hey, class feels really good, thanks!”. They are just busy in-game.
You won’t get invited to speedruns in PvE dungeons. Condis are going to feel silly when fighting one mob with a zerg. But in PvP, you just have so… many… toys. It’s phenomenal. You can build to do so many things, include take advantage of cliff-diving with Spectral Walk, tank a large amount of incoming damage with Spectral Armor → Death Shroud (DS says it removes spectral effects. It doesn’t. Don’t listen to the in-game tooltip.), get some really high AoE burst damage, do whatever you want to condis (send them to a foe, cleanse them, turn them into boons), turn into the most annoying cloud ever by ticking Blind on a large group, spread a huge stack of conditions to a large group of people. It makes me happy just thinking about it.
Don’t ever let someone else dictate what you play or enjoy. The only thing that matters is how much you enjoy the class. The rest will come. You can find people who don’t judge your class in PvE and do basically any fractal level. You can complete all the dungeon content. You can be a huge baller while roaming in WvW. You can be pivotal to a zerg in WvW. I don’t sPvP much, but I don’t see how the class couldn’t perform fine there.
If you enjoyed Necro, play it. Have fun with it. If you find its pitfalls are too much for you, enjoy a different class. But I wouldn’t recommend not trying it simply because someone else gets all complainy.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
Oh man, always with the zerker..
Yes, yes, we all know it is the most efficient.
But this is a game and sometimes it isn’t about being super uber efficient (surprise), it is about having fun.
He/She specifically asked for a non-zerker build/armor combination, yet you still suggest zerker. What is so wrong in having different playstyles to keep things interesting?
And no build provides 100% protection. The player does that with skillful use of all abilites, dodging the right times and using the skills the most efficient way possible, with careful timing and the knowledge what to use when.
Newsflash, not all players are experienced like that. Not all players are always on high alert. Not all players like going all out offensive.
This is mostly for Power necro builds but some things could have some effect on all necros:
1) That is Lich Form gets push back on cast not full (3 minute) cool down on interrupt
2) Axe 3 gives stability instead of retal maybe make the CD on it 18 sec instead of 15.
3) That AOE healing or any healing help either heal Life Force while necro is in death shroud, or, alternatively, heal the base health so that necros could be healed while in DS
There are other things but I would like to just post 3 things that I think could be feasibly programmed within the developers budget constraints and would provide good QOL for necros in WVW.

What must the living story Season 2 have/do right/be like
that you would play it and accept it as a replacement for expansions.
My top 3:
- new Maps
- less zerging content, actual fun gameplay that needs skill and a 5 man group
(example: the bossfight of the molten alliance facility)
- Serious fixes for all those bugs in the bugforum that are there since launch
Pls stay on topic
See your damage: sure.
See other peoples damage: No thanks.
Been there, done that, so sick of it, please don’t let that kind of bullkitten come into this game.
I just want a way for ME to measure MY damage and functionality and how MY gear affects it, and eventually adjust stats in order to “optimize” MY performance.
“How do I know if, as a phantasm mesmer, it’s better to go full power/crit/crit dmg or also throw in a “bit” of condition damage for the bleeds or healing for the regeneration?" – “How can I know if stacking might is better than go with utilities and other more useful tools? How can I know if picking up these traits and utilities I end up doing more overall damage but, since I have to stack buffs etc, in the end I waste time and also dps and functionality?” The only informations I’m given is that phantasms and me deal direct damage and so zerk is the way… but are we sure that there isn’t a certain value of another stat which would be beneficial to stack to a certain extent?
As it is now, it’s impossible to analyze MY damage or functionality because the combat log doesn’t even show pet damage, condition damage, conditions applied, boons applied, boons removed or healing done. How am I supposed to better myself? Just go with what others say (And they might be wrong too because it’s not like they are any different from me, as far as the informations given are concerned)? Have I just to “hope” that I’m doing good when perhaps I just picked up the wrong stats and am impairing my party?
To a certain extent, we are all living a little delusion where we are good and efficient when we could actually bring more to the table.
I’m just asking for a way to measure MY OWN performance. I don’t care about others, they’ll have to deal with their own, I have to deal with MINE.
As you may know, WoW got two combat log tabs: one that shows what happens to you and your opponents, and one that shows what happens to everyone. I’m asking only for the former. The current combat log only shows direct damage done and received. It would be extremely appreciated if it showed:
- Direct damage done by/to you AND your pets/minions
- Condition damage done by/to you AND your pets/minions
- Conditions applied/removed by you AND your pets/minions
- Boons applied/removed by you AND your pets/minions
- Healing done by/to you AND your pets minions
- Crowd control done by/to you AND your pets minions
Do you think you can implement all the above? In addition to this, do you think you could implement a PERSONAL damage meter showing average dps/healing, total dps/healing, highest damage/healing skill
Also, stop giving me the bullkitten of elitists and what not; there is a lot to gain, both for the newbies and the ones who are (or think to be) experienced.
Also, as some of you stated somewhere else, skills do not rely entirely on damage and so, people excluding you from parties just because you don’t do the same damage as them, even though you bring utilities and what not, already prove not to be understanding very well game mechanics and should be avoided and left in their delusion. From my point of view, it’s better for you… or do you prefer to adapt to random people who think to know what matters and what not and are arrogant about it?

Stop saying longbow is bad dps. It’s not. Traited longbow hits for 992.25/s only factoring skill modifiers and weapon damage and the 5% damage trait. This is only the autoattack, without considering barrage. As a reference sword hits for 1055.55/s. Yes, longbow is just a bit lower auto.
As for melee>range it’s almost always true. Ele is a notable exception with staff. Engi bombs(melee) hit higher than grenades but all the vuln loss is not worth it.
Don’t think of ranger as an archer. Think of it as Walker, Texas Ranger.
I was once in a dungeon with some warrior zerkers. They berated me the whole time, they lay on the ground dead, while I killed the boss solo. It was amazing that I could not convince them that my build was superior to theirs, as 4 of them could not even dent the boss, yet I was able to kill him solo.
The zerker crowd bases their stand on the fact that they circumvent the game by stacking damage to avoid playing the game, no skill involved in that.
As a solo ranger, I would say that I showed them what skill is.
Just let them be if they kick you since your a ranger, group with guildies/friends or make your own pug group, dont let the so called pve elitists scrubs get to you!
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
Hi just want everyone to know that guild wars has alway’s been my favorite mmo of all time! I’ve been playing gw over 8 years! Ive only played as a ranger all my life! and have multiple toons! what ive notice is rangers never get the respect they deserve! the other day i was in a dungeon and i was kicked cause i was a ranger! most dungeons require warriors and guardians! i remember in gw1 where it really didnt matter what class you were cause we have skills we can change to work with the group! Now there may be bad players representing rangers but im not one of them! Most dungeons i get kicked before i can get a chance to prove how good a ranger is! I refuse to run as a warrior or a guardian because of exploits or speed runs! i just want to enjoy my range and pet moves and play the game! i would love if there could be a all ranger dungeon run lmao… but this is not the case here! I also read there may be some changes for rangers which im dying to see!
Doubtful as any Anet dev that plays the game can always get into the main server so it doesn’t really affect them does it
…Really? You think they made GW2 just so they could have infinite dev hacks and laugh at all the poor miserable ‘normals’?
**Spoiler** The lack of choice in the end
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Rengaru.4730
I think the final instance could have been improved greatly by using illusion of choice.
Let me explain:
In the final instance Scarlet asks if we want to know why she did everything she did but Braham cuts her off.
The players have no word in this matter, and are just dragged along for the ride, rather than deciding (even if it is just an illusion) the outcome themselves.
I think it would have been way more interesting if the players had to make a decision, something like:
- Hear her out: Which leads to Scarlet saying something along the lines of “(cough) (cough) come closer, and i’ll tell you” so the players approach her together with Marjory and Braham. But just as we get close she yells “Fools!” and blows you all up (leading to the cutscene with Braham and Marjory getting injured).
- Finish her off: Which leads to the version we have now (Marjory and Braham closing in on her, ready to kill but she blows them up)
Too late for this chapter but please keep in mind how powerfull an impact a choice (and even the illusion of having one) can make.
This is a suggestion. Why not add a title like that which can only be attained by saving say 250 citizens? This will allow:
1. People to actually search and rescue the citizens,
2. Make it clear that the event’s main goal of 1500 rescued is reachable this way,
3. It will be a reason for “achievement hunters” to partake in the event
4. We will know who really helped to save the citizens of LA when they display their titles..
It would be very easy to implement and help those who actually want to do the event rather than zombie farm bags while following champ farmer train commanders…
Thoughts?
I just wanted to say, I love these. I love that we are given so many options, I love that they’re available for low level characters, I love that they can be made by normal play, I love that we can have multiple, and I just love the overall design.
I want one of each ascended and several exotics for alts. I don’t even know what to do with them all, but I know that there isn’t a single thing going to keep me from playing this LS every day to get the blades I need. Great job anet, thank you.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Over the past year the total amount of developers answering the necro community in regards of bug’s and broken things is …
3
[Infraction Disclaimer]
This is a honest list objectively showing the amount of posts made on the necro sub forum.. it is not intended to create negative responces. but it does however show the attention this subforum and the bug reports are getting i deleted my sacrasm and kept to facts.
Jon Peters: 2 sentences in december claiming dhuumfire is still up for change, and responding to a bug report and fixing it. credit where credit is due, he also responded to the hp bug and got it fixed.
BillFreist: big thanks for fixing the profession’s downed HP. (where did this guy go and why isn’t he fixing more stuff?)
Jonathan Sharp: Adressing the staff mastery bug.
I can conclude here is that in one year there have been exactly five posts adressing issues on the necro sub forum..
Four post have resulted in a fix and the rest is encouragement to keep the bug reports up and keep the discussion healthy.
Unfortunately the discussions have turned unhealthy because the community doesn’t get one response on serious issues that have come up regarding overall mechanis, bug’s and traitlines that don’t work correctly.
That said, the subforum has turned a bit disgrunted.
People have: begged for fixes, bribed for a solution, spend real money to get the attention for bug fixes and feeling they are being ignored try to get the attention trough different means.
I would like to point you to this topic posted a year ago and see for yourself howmany of those issues mentioned in the 16 pages of reports have been resolved:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Necromancer-bugs-compilation-discontinued/first
that’s all..
cheers.

Necromancers are okay in every game mode. We’re pretty strong in WvW, both small and large, and we’re pretty strong in PvP. Most of our builds are at the least okay; not the best, but good enough that you aren’t going to bring down performance by too much if you’re playing well.
That said, realize that we’re not always top tier. We’re more like the second string player who is still really good and won’t make the team lose the game, but isn’t quite as good as the starter.
You forgot, ‘Long monologue during the Thaumanova fractal where we sit with our thumbs up our collective kitten while she exposes her latest mischievous plan and nary one of us thinks about putting a bullet in her brain case’.
killing her fractal self would have little to no impact on her outside the fractal. if i understand the mists correctly, that’s not scarlet, just a recreation of her
Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server
Main Character: Farathnor (sylvari ranger) 1 of 22
The same reason the castaways failed so many times to get off the island. Blame Gilligan.
Ok number one: story and gameplay segregation… it’s a thing now
“Dragon champion or not, Scarlet is still a sylvari. A sword will pierce her flesh, a hammer will crush her head. She may be stronger than normal, but not that much stronger.”
Well to play with the premise, the other dragon champions have never learned one extremely important but often overlooked tactic that Scarlet employs a lot: tactical retreat. :P everytime she gets into mortal danger, she runs away and then comes back with a vengeance. Most dragon champs stay until we kill them and feast upon the loot they drop.
