You’re not writing this at 7am on the second of July… It’s still June and there’s a month left before the update goes live. Which is a Tuesday, by the way.
1) Most trash mobs will function as described on the Wiki.
2) A lot of special enemies have their own aggro rules. A good example are the Bandit Riflemen in CM: They will always target the one with the least toughness/armour and prefer targets that are holding ranged weapons. So much so they don’t even retaliate to players striking them in melee if there are ranged targets available!
Do you even lift, bro?

Actually it is several of those things you claim it isn’t. I highly disagree, I have seen it work exactly as described in the article.
just because I don’t have a stunbreaker doesn’t mean i don’t survive…
While I agree with your general assessment, you could easily give up Signet of Spite in favor of a stun break. The more or less only valid use of this signet is applying cover conditions, but since you don’t play a condi build you have very little reason to run it in the first place.
First of all, has anyone taken a look at the PASSIVE attribute of the signet? 180 power is something to be taken in consideration. I don’t use the active a lot, only if things are going bad. The active is also really not that bad for a power necro. Bleed is the least useful of all because I don’t have a lot of condi dmg (only 100), but the rest is all very helpful. If the opponent is low the poison will decrease their healing, cripple to stop them from coming at you while you place some marks or shoot some life blasts, vuln is self explanatory, blind too and weakness to decrease the dmg from other power build.
And these are all 13 seconds.
TL:DR I use the passive 180 75% of the time and the active only when things are looking bad.
Maybe that girl left to play Wildstar like all the other intelligent people.
There’s so many people on the GW2 forums that say they’ve left or hinted they left, yet still feel they care to comment in the forums. confused
here’s my character in town clothes.. norn town clothes are great, it even looked good with the starter dyes.. pretty sure i didn’t have to change much around, if at all.. the only thing is, there was nothing from the elbows down.. very plain, and i like my character covered.. i bought the chef outfit because the gloves match wonderfully.. i can’t even show you a picture post wardrobe patch because, oh the horror.. i just bought the pirate outfit on a whim, because you can’t get light armor non-skirt pants.. unfortunately, it’s an armor-cover full-outfit.. what’s with the DECO GuildWars2, i stopped playing 9dragons awhile ago!?
the wardrobe system was great for account bound armor skins, but it murdered town clothes.. and the ability to mix and match.. this is just mind numbingly bothersome.. my hopeful assumption is that some poor sap at arena net is going to put in a few extra hours each week converting many of the tonics and full outfits into individual skins..
by the way, i’m not trying to down on arena net’s creativity.. if they want to make full outfit tonics, they should consider a dedicated ‘tonics’ inventory bag.. {although they never got around to making a dedicated mini bag, so it’s really pipe dreaming}
anyway, you seem to like the whole outfit opening poster, so gl with that
The game itself is fine.
The disappointment comes from the fact that there was just so much potential for the game to be so much more than it is, and that potential is just squandered.

It’s one of those classes that, on paper, has some flaws. The main two things, in my opinion:
1) Limited access to Stability/stunbreakers; rely on your teammates for that.
2) Limited group utility; what little we provide is matched or surpassed by other classes.
However, actually playing the class has turned out to be fun, and Necros are good in WvW and sPvP because of, mainly, conditions and their survivability; even as a Light Armor class, they have as much base health as a Warrior and have Death Shroud as a secondary health bar, in essence. I’d definitely recommend trying the Necro, and if you like how it feels, keep at it.
Simple answer is: if there was anything OP about Necs we would see them in sPvP teams that go far in Tourneys.

OMG if we could dress up the minions it would be…. words can’t describe.

You should leave MM in PVE, bring a decent build for pvp. No wonder why people laughing as us whit build like this.
LOL, that’s funny. Wait… Please tell me that was a joke. Right?
Shortbow- 900 range Power weapon, focusing on spectral synergies/themes and chill. shoot spooky ghost arrows
The writers give us Marjory and Kasmeer. And Taimi, let’s not forget Taimi and her cuteness.
For that alone the writers are awesome and deserve a high five!!
Kudos writers!!
I’m the first person to jump on the writers how bad they are doing their job. But for the next living story let’s give them a chance to prove they are not fresh out of some community college or home schooled writing class. Sure they made some ridiculously simple and glaring mistakes any rookie would avoid but I have hope.
IF they deliver some boring story then unleash hell, go broadside and open all barrels. But until then I say give them a chance to prove that the first chapter was more of a lesson than their best attempt.
TL;DR – give them a chance…
This is just a state of mind. When you turn on the radio, you don’t worry about the thousand shows you missed across all the radio stations since yesterday. You turn on the radio to listen to the show that is on now. Treat your GW2 the same way. Log on and play the living story that is there now. A returning player has exactly the same content now as anyone else. Just like the radio, you don’t need to know what has gone before in order to enjoy what is there now.
There should be a story line recap for returning players. Comparing the storyline to Game of Thrones is a bit laughable though.
Hang, on wait. I cooled down a bit and checked the patch notes. What they did is they merged Reanimator into a Master Trait called Death Nova. It’s perfectly fine. Crisis averted. It just takes way longer to get it. I can handle that.
I am sorry I overracted, Anet, before checking my facts. Can we still be friends?
Minions are fantastic for leveling and open world stuff. They aren’t great in dungeons and boss fights, or wvw. They are effective in Pvp if played correctly.

This not an example of a bad design.
This is simple a conflict between different types of players. The players that hate zergy content to the players that like zergy content.
For most of zerg wars 2, the players that enjoy zergy content have been rewarded and trained to keep that mentality. To the point where the overrall skill level of the guild wars 2 players probably dropped as the result of playing this game.
Now Arenanet is now changing things up and removing the overreliance of the zerg mentality to achieve suggest.
The ONLY real flaw with this festival is the fact that it doesn’t show everybody on the map the current status of each boss such as HP AND the number of players attacking said boss. Arenanet in the future, if this is the path they want to take should do what they did with the bosses in LA and provide buffs that act as a way to indicate the number of player attacking a boss. This will remove the dependence on commanders and reduce the amount of communication required to defeat anti zerg content. Players need to be retrain and the best way is to slowing take off the training wheels not just drop them and let them sink.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

Still leads to a ‘twiddle your thumbs while depending on other players for your reward level’ mechanic.
Yeah. Tighter timer? Optional events around the “bosses”? I have no idea at the moment.
Make it so all the bosses have to be beaten at the same time (lets say a 30 second window).
This will force people to split up.

My suggestion would be:
- make Festival tokens + Vendor permant
the tokens should be a perma livingstory currency and all this different currencys we get per Living story(Blade shards, candy corn, fortune scraps, suppourt tokens ….) we should can change after the linvingstory end to Festival tokens 5:1 or something
And all skins, minis, things we will get in next linvigstorys should be addet to the vendor so people who miss a living story can work later on it
pros:
- we dont have to store all this useless currencys in our bank after linvigstory ends
- people who miss livnig story can still work for the reward later
contra:
- dont see any
thx

Drives me crazy – especially the ‘sorry to spam you’ ones!! Well, I’m not sorry to report you, you stinking low life hackers.

This is not an example of bad design. It’s an example of a mechanic that isn’t as fine tuned as it could be.
Really? Why the hate on options? Some players are really happy the game gave them the option to wear a dress on their female charr. For the female charr that don’t want to wear it, you have literally every armour set in the game.
Why do you think your desire to wear only male clothing is more important than the desire for some players who would like to wear female clothing on their charr? The lion’s share of outfits for a female charr are still all male, this is like a tiny loop hole (that only uses a handful of options) that allows an audience that has different tastes from your own to have something they like.
The female charr still wear entirely male armour models, someone at the gem store decided it might be nice to give the tiniest amount of variety for some players that might not want that. You should support that. If someone decided female humans were all about “TNA” and didn’t offer you any options outside of that you wouldn’t be very happy. Options, even if we don’t have an equal amount of them, it’s nice to have them.
I don’t even know why you’re going on about TNA in a thread about the charr, is anyone seriously arguing that this outfit is trying to show off charr ‘cleavage’? I think the more likely scenario is that the outfit was designed with a human physique in mind (both male and female – charr players of either gender know that even the male armours tend to translate very poorly to the physique of a charr) and little to no effort was made to figure out how to design it for a charr. There’s nothing wrong with showing some skin, although obviously female charr have nothing to show.
From a lore stand point this argument doesn’t hold water. Clearly this outfit is not a charr outfit. It does not come from nor does it confirm to charr cultural traditions. Realistically it’s probably designed to cater to the Chinese audience but in the world of Tyria the closest culture would be Cantha, a human culture. When wearing the traditional clothing of another culture, it makes sense that a female charr would wear the female clothing. This isn’t combat gear, this isn’t supposed to be functional, it’s a costume. The idea that a charr would wear a human’s cultural clothing in the first place is no stranger than a female charr wearing a human’s clothing. They are essentially playing dress up.
I’m all for being more careful about tailoring armour and outfits for the charr. I think it’s something ArenaNet does very poorly and as people in this thread have pointed out, the male outfit’s tail dragon is a rare example of special attention being paid to the charr. While the overall design still based on a human (I dream of a day when a designer really figures out and consistently delivers designs that live up to the potential of the charr) it was an improvement. I think they could have done a better job on the female charr, especially that tail clipping. FYI the male shoes look ridiculous as well.
And can we stop shaming the people who role female norns and humans? You wouldn’t shame a real woman who dressed like that so why is it OK to shame a player for dressing their characters how they want? For all you know, it’s a female on the other end of that character (not that it matters) and you are sending the wrong message to her.

Isnt staff 1200 range?
I think the autoattack only needs to hit more reliable (faster projectile speed and maybe also a shorter aftercast). Yes, one could argue it is not a pure power weapon but it is still 1200 range and if the aa would hit more often i think necros wouldnt need an extra 1200 range power weapon.
Its not just not a pure power weapon, it only has one pure-direct damage attack, and one that scales decent with power. Scepter deals better direct damage, but it isn’t a power weapon. Staff is a condi utility weapon that is only in non-condi builds because we have no other good option. If we had a different option to use at higher than melee range for power builds staff would see a huge drop in play.
It’s kind of ridiculous that we’re worrying about how magic ‘works’ inside a video game.
Its actually very important. If Yoda took out a wand and started using magic, or if Harry Potter pulled out a lightsaber and started waving his fingers around using the force, there would be legitimate backlash, because internal consistency is very important to all decent games. The reality is that the way things “work” is very important, you can see this in literally anything that involves “magic” of any kind; the second they violate this rule things start sucking (cough Naruto fillers cough).
This is why Necromancers won’t start using purple clones or shooting white lasers of healing, and why Warriors won’t start farting magic rainbows from a staff. Yes there are grey zones that are debatable, like exactly what weapons can and cannot by used by X profession, but there are things that just aren’t allowed because they are not consistent.
I am a little curious what founder Mr M. O’Brien currently thinks of the game and , after nearly 2 years, weather it has/is heading in the direction he thought it would and his thoughts on the following.
1) The move in the direction away from GW1 has upset alot of the players that dedicated so much time into the Gw’s franchise. Did you anticipate their reaction in this , or has it shock you a little to see so many players from GW1 feeling a little disappointed?
2) There seams to be alot of threads in regards to the RNG , lack of loot, rising precursor prices and current decisions to cut loot drops from the Crown Pavilion .
Given that GW1 had such amazing and unique drops why have you chosen to go the current way of thinking ,if this is hurting your player base?
3) I am , like many players, amazed at the details that the designers have put into the game , it looks so amazing when you play and take the time to stop and just look around. Did you expect it to be as good as it has turned out , or did the team really surprise you with some WOW moments/ places within the game ?
That’s all I will say at the moment and hope that maybe you have a spare moment to pop in and say hi.
I am sure ppl would like too add some question’s that you would like to ask Mr M. O’Brien , if he would answer , so please no comments on the questions , if you have a question please add one or two and you never know we may just get a response.
probably have better luck at getting a pre drop lol but worth a shot.
cheers Phabby
Depends on what you put in.
1. 4 blues → 1 Blue with a chance of a green
2. 4 greens → 1 green with a chance of a rare
3. 4 rares → 1 rare with a chance of an exotic
4. 4 exotics → 1 exotic with a chance of a precursor
Each of the items needs to be of the same type, by which I mean, you need to use 4 armours or 4 weapons (these are not the only combinations, but I’m keeping simple and assuming that this is what you are asking)
However, you can make specific types of equipment by putting in 4 of the same type. The above example will give you a random item.
4 blue random weapons/armours → 1 blue random armour/weapon with a chance of a random green armour/weapon
But you can put in 4 of 1 type. For example
4 blue axes → 1 blue axe with a chance of 1 green axe
This scales up using the first system I posted.
Also, for the random combination you can replace 1 of the items with a Mystic forge stone.
…that experience bar will hit level 81!!! You all just wait and see, and they will finally stop calling me a madman!
On the same thought, a more logical solution would be :
1. Block anyone whose not in F list/guild, and is under lvl 40 (for example)
2. Block anyone who has been blocked by X users before.
That way any gold selling char will become useless after pming 2-3 ppl
