if they nerfed power mancers

Giving crit damage a small nerf is apparently not to handicap any profession but to make non-zerker builds less unattractive.

The good news is a small percent increase in bunker builds will help take aggro pressure off of high defense Necromancer builds.

The bad news is that I expect more condition builds from other classes.

Does it look like an attractive update?

Stealing from US (again and again)

The way this game is set up is rediculous:
1. You charge us to go to a WP, which is just stupid.
2. You charge us to list our stuff on the TP, another stupid idea.
3. Whenever we do find a way to make money you guys nerf it by stopping it or way lowering the drops we get.
4. Donate to Winterdays to get part of the achievements, is outragous.

This is suppose to be a game that is fun and you doing all the above is not making it fun. Why are you guys constantly looking for ways to take the money we spend hours trying to get? Where does the money really go? into thin air as the NPC’s are not real people, WP, TP and Winterdays Donation do nothing but STEAL FROM US.
We spend grinding hours of trying make money or get items which is getting to the point of NOT FUN. NOT FUN GET IT????

1. don’t like waypoints? you can do what some cheap members in my previous guild did, WALK. yes, they chose to walk from lions arch all the way to Brisban for guild bounty and then walk all the way to Fields of Ruins for guild rush.

Pay a fee for a “short cut” or walk. I choose the fee. of course when returning, i just go to the mist and then return to LA.

2. I haven’t played a game that never used this mechanic. even in life, they use this mechanic. so no issue here.

3. Anet tries to keep the game balanced and fresh by balancing certain things. Most things people use to make money are exploits, which is not actually playing the game the way it was meant to be played. Anet wanted everyone to do all dungeons so they created this new system. Everyone ran cof for days when it was the old system.

4. You don’t have to do this. Donate 1 copper for the daily. are you that cheap that you can’t donate 1 copper for 1 achievement points? Anet gave us many alternatives to achievements for the meta. you can skip on the silver and gold achievement and just do daily.

Ah the world today. “Back in the day” throwing snowballs at anyone wasn’t offensive but funny…for both parties. Makes me wonder, its probably banned in school these days as it could be [insert over sensitive PC word here].

Actually its been banned in schools for several years here because it is ‘dangerous.’ Of course, dodgeball is also banned. So is holding hands… and standing too close together in a group. But tackle football is ok….

Wtf is this world coming to…..

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

in the name of the Cumulative Union of Smart Skritt (or CUSS) i call out to Anet to change the daily that consists of hitting skritt (and only skritt) with snowballs.

i know the intent was to hit the “theiving skritt” that try to steal presents from the ministril and ho ho tron, but ever since the daily released more and more skritt have been the subject to pummeling after pummeling with snowballs. not only that, when pointing out it was racist to some one who was doing his daily on the LA plaza, he told me he deserved it because the skritt in question must be a theif.
the skritt in question was just trying to enjoy a nice time on the LA plaza with a multicultural snowball fight when he was ganged up upon by multiple players, and while he kept on a brave face by laughing it off, i know he was crying inside.

while it is true that a lot of skritt have to resort to thieving this is not only there fault, as skritt are currently not accepted as one of the major races (so they can’t get loans to start businesses or build suitable housing), and with how the skritts cumulative intellect makes it hard to understand the meaning of ownership, these are all things that make it hard for skritt to integrate into society.
i have no doubt in my mind however we can overcome these prejudices and move into a better future with education and open minds!

as for the daily issue, you could fix the intended purpose and make it so only the theiving skritt count (and make another daily that is, lets face it, a goldsink).
or
you could make it a universal thing. trow 10 snowballs to all participating npc’s or players! this would increase the feeling of unity amongst the races and bind us together in a bit of harmless fun!

I can completely understand/sympathise. But regardless I’ve enjoyed all of the updates thus far, but yes permanent content would be much more appealing.

I’m prettttyy sure they’ve learned their lesson though. Once Scarlet’s arc is finished I expect them to head in a very different direction.

What you’re running into is the “optimum theorycrafters”. They will say things like “anything X can do, another class can do better”, and even though it might technically be true, it also often loses sight of the whole picture.

It isn’t really an argument one side wins. Some people look at the theoretical upper bounds and base their opinions on that. Others just use their experience in-game. It’s a war without end, as it boils down to differences in approach/opinion at the end of the day.

Also, it depends on your goals. If you want to aim for land speed records, you don’t settle for anything other than the strategy/class comp that will push you through the content the fastest. Necro often isn’t the class that fills a high-cleave race through a dungeon, so it gets a little flak. However, if you’re casually pubbin’, it’s very likely that this won’t matter much.

No one really insists that Necros can’t do any of the PvE in the game. They just insist that other classes can fill any role a Necro can fill, and do it better than a Necro.

It’s up to you to determine whether or not that matters at all to you. To me, it doesn’t, as MMO balance at the theoretical upper bound is always going to be a fickle mistress.

Oh, and surviving what appear to be older mechanics/boss designs can be an issue for Necros as well, I hear.

“Completely useless” and “not as good” are two terms these forums never manage to separate. There is too much hyperbole and the masses are fickle, the meta and the game changes as the game gets changed.

it is true that in PvE, the necro’s strengths are just not as needed. Bosses are immune largely to control effects and boons reign supreme. You don’t really need condition manipulation. However it doesn’t mean that if you step into a dungeon you will die instantly and do 0 damage. Don’t bother with conditions in PvE; they are broken due to the 25 condi cap. That is an issue to consider.

If you want to grind hundreds of gold in a short amount of time, then don’t roll an necromancer. You would be a little bit slower. But in these cases, you’re not concerned about rolling a class, rather you’re rolling a farmer and there are better classes for this need— it would be redundant to spend all that time and resources to start up and set up a new toon solely for gold gain and in that case you would be better off just sticking with your established ones.

I think in the majority of situations the difference is harder to notice than some profess and frankly, in your situation you should pick the class that is most fun. It doesn’t matter if you pick a class that is 25% faster if playing every moment feels like a chore.

If you have any interest in WvW though, roll a necro.

Why No Heals In DS?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Kravick.4906

Kravick.4906

Because Deathshroud is a bloody heal giving you a gazillion extra hitpoints? Sure its not permanent, but neither is a heal since you’d just loose that HP to the same attacks you’d get while in Deathshroud.

This is wrong. DS is a mechanic given to us to compensate for the fact that necromancers don’t have any evades/blocks/invulns/immunities to things like the other classes have. Its supposed to be what makes necromancers an attrition class, however, its current implementation falls rather short of that concept.

The real reason we don’t heal in DS is because of what happened in Beta Weekend Event #2 where supposedly someone made an unkillable build in sPvP that utilized DS. Ever since then ANet has had this really bad mentality when it comes to this class regarding balance.

Stuff goes here.

The best mystery stories will make you go “ooh, how could I have missed that” when everything is revealed in the end. I’m afraid this one won’t.

However, I also realize it’s practically impossible to write such a mystery story in an MMO, because with so many players, one or more of them would crack the mystery before the revelation.

Here’s hoping anet will surprise us, but I’m not holding my breath. They might surprise us with a completely illogical solution, which could not be foretold by anyone, but I will be really impressed if they can come up with a surprise solution that will at the same time seem perfectly logical in the end.

I agree with what someone else said in another thread after looking over the video again and again, it looks like she’s ‘stepping’ on the ‘plates’ that are aligned in a semi-circle. The 5 pinkish “discs” seem to “resonate” when the marionette steps on them.

My personal theory, at least for the marionette, is that its not necessarily a ‘weapon’, but another form of giant ‘drum’, fashioned from the technology that she’s already played around with.

So, a giant game of Dance Dance Revolution?

All the races have hints of real life human cultures.

This. In other fantasy universe dwarves are short scotts, orcs are barbarians, etc. Every single invented race is going to have loose ties to RL cultures because truly alien concepts are hard to come up with and even harder to sell since players generally want something we can identify with. At least in part.

And that is, in my opinion, the most ridiculous justice system ever concieved. If they are part of an enemy faction that openly wages war with you and consorts with your greatest enemy (jormag), then they are the enemy period.

But… they are the enemy. If they try to hurt you. How many Sons of Svanir doesnt the player kill in the storyline? Dozens? Hundreds? How many hundreds of thousands have died on the fields of Wayfarers, lol?

Yet the people of Hoelbrak let them stay in the city, as long as they arent actually doing anything.

I doubt the Norn consider having an open war on their doorstep a bad thing. Good training for the kids.

Norns have the best justice system, they don’t believe in collective “evil”, they only care for individual actions, if a specific Son of Svanir never did anything bad, why care less about him?
Norns and SoS that make something against the rules of the city they are usually expelled or even killed, so no need for jails.

So if my gift is under the christmas tree and I have to get it myself, get up from the couch, walk all the way over there, pick it up etc – then it’s no longer a gift!

Wander through Tyria, there are gifts around that Tixx dropped from his airship (they don’t fit through a chimney) – open them. Beware there might be broken toys attacking you or skritt that where already there trying to steal the presents. Sneak or run past them, grab the present off the ground – there ya go.

Sometimes there are none because those skritts are experts.
