Forum Warrior: Black Belt in Ninja Edits
kitten morals I’m just happy to finally get Belinda’s GS :X
#VoteEvon2013
The katanas (long swords 60cm+) were used by the samurais, the ninja version is a wakizashi (short version of katana 30-60cm). Samurais used a longsword (katana), a short sword (wakizashi) and a tantô (+/- a dagger 30cm-).
Why would a thief want a katana? They are thieves, not ninjas.
It’s not really a fair vote because it’s aimed at Forum users and possibly reddit users.
The best metric will simply be anets in game data on how many people played and for how long, which I suspect is what drove their decision.
Anet is basically charging the community for a feature the community wanted put into the game to help large groups and events organize. They’ve taken a highly requested idea and spun it around as a gold sink.
Charging gold for a colored tag designed to help promote oragization, split large groups (zergs) and promote tactics (something WvW is severely lacking) is an outrage. It can be compared to charging players gold to use map chat, a tool used to organize groups and for tactics, much like the commander tag.
I beg that the decision to charge gold to access colored tags be reconsidered.
Just read the comments of over 400 players over at reddit:

I never liked Super Adventure Box… but why is it gone?
Let me tell you, I really feel for the SAB fans. Is there a reason you can’t enjoy content you like? I don’t imagine you care whether or not there’s a part 3 out, do you? You should be able to play parts 1 and 2 anytime you like. It’s mystifying. It’s even worse than making the various Activities (Keg Brawl, Southsun Survival, etc.) available only on certain days.
I don’t like SAB, but I say open it up and keep it open! Variety is the spice of life. The game could use a little spicing up about now.
EDIT: Nuts. They merged my thread. I hate it when they do that.

Dungeon armor sets are only available to players who run dungeons. A lot of players don’t run dungeons.
Should they start threads like these complaining about that as well?
They did. The result was PvP reward tracks, and dungeon armor no longer being available only through dungeons. And yet, this time, when the roles have reversed, the very same behaviour has become something they disdain.
While we’re at it, I’m upset that I have to do open world mapping to get my legendary. It’s forcing me to play a game mode that I don’t like to get something that I want. I know a great many players who are bored of open world mapping and so I don’t think that this requirement is fair. This is simply a tactic to get dungeon hardcores like me to go out and do open world content. I would prefer it if I just had to get dungeon master instead because I only do dungeons. I also spend lots of money on gems and so my opinion is probably worth alot. Really I think it’s important that GW2 gets with the program and stops forcing someone into playing content that they don’t enjoy.
Basically its this kind of logic. And the reason it’s flawed is because of a few things-
When you want something, its different to when you need something. When you want something you should be prepared to make some sacrifices or do things that you may not want to do. Eg, I want these new clothes, I have work some extra shifts to pay for them. When you need something you may also need to make sacrifices, however you may also have a bit more entitlement to something if you need vs. want.
We play a game now with many different people who all play differently. What you may not like, others may enjoy. Not everyone is going to be happy about doing ‘a’ to get ‘b’. I like doing dungeons but I want an ascended armour/weapon set so that my dungeon runs are even better. I have to do something I don’t want to and farm dragonite in open world and WvW etc. Meanwhile somebody else wants a legendary and needs 500 dungeon tokens and he hates dungeons. That’s just how it is. Maybe, somewhere along the way while we’re off doing things we wouldn’t normally do, we discover something we enjoy in doing it. Hey maybe open world isn’t so bad, maybe fractals aren’t that bad. etc. Or maybe we continue to hate those things. Either way though, if you want something, you need to be prepared to make a sacrifice because we live in a world where everyone is different and while you may hate fotm, there’s probably someone out there who’s really happy that fotm relics are what’s required instead of having to endure more living agony.

SAB, along with the Crown Pavilion, should be a permanent feature IMO.
An interview got posted on GuildMag which says we won’t see SAB for a loooooooooooooooong time considering they want to ‘focus on other parts of the game first’ (we all know what that means, precursor crafting anyone?)
Sad day to be a SAB lover.

Besides, unless the coin was NEVER used (I kind of doubt that), you already got you money out of it. Trying to throw a collective tantrum to get some content returned is not likely to change their plans.
How exactly is “more than never” the equivalent of getting money out of an “infinite” continue coin? It isn’t a tantrum. When the coin was on sale, we were told that worlds three and four would come. At the very least, it was reasonable to expect we’d be able to play worlds one and two regularly (six months seemed reasonable based on the window between one and two, a year given the back to school theme).
I agree that these should be refunded if SAB is never coming back. They really should just turn worlds one and two on permanently though.
Let’s do it! Let’s all rush the support team with asks for a refund and see what they do!
You can’t hear roars of laughter via email…..(and they can automate a NO response rather easily).

We can’t make them return the content, nor should we try. The coin, however, was advertised as being usable on all future releases of the SAB. I can see why people would feel they should be refunded if there’s actually no plans to bring back the SAB.
I never bought it but I would have asked for a refund 6 months ago if I had.
So SAB isn’t coming back anytime soon, if at all. Expecting that SAB was going to be continued I purchased the coin and now it’s not well what the kitten?
Can we get a refund since it is now useless and there isn’t a future for SAB
Anet please, just stop trying to buff ai builds no one wants another spirit ranger in any pvp, whether its hotjoin, soloq or teamq. I actually want to fight a player and not lose to ai/passive effects in pvp. After all, it is call player vs player for a reason. If I want to fight ai I go do pve.
it doesn’t have to be viable on sPvP to be viable. they might be making it into a nice build for PvE.
balance =/= PvP balance.
That doesn’t make any sense. Keep Vistas as Vistas. What they should change are the Points of Interest. Instead of just discovering them for exp only, you find it, get its name, Icon appears on top of your map, you press it and you get a page worth of information and historical references of the place in question and a cool picture.
and all characters look like they are below lvl 20.
lol. blacking out like everything didn’t help.
Many vocal players have recently asked for a nerf of the Fiery Greatsword’s Fiery rush. Their argument is that this skills deals extraordinary damage and therefore it “trivialises” dungeon fights.
I would like to respond by saying that asking for a nerf of this skill is completely wrong.
First, please understand that I am not a fan of the skill. I never liked it, even though I main an elementalist in a prominent speedclearing guild. The point I will make here is that asking for a nerf is a huge mistake.
Is FGS making fights easy?
Not quite. It takes skill to use it properly. The KING fractal tournament showed that FGS cannot be so simply used in all areas of the game. In fact, it is an extremely risky move. Risk should be rewarded.
Will a nerf of FGS make fights more interesting?
No. Of course not. Fights were boring even before we started spamming fiery rush everywhere. A nerf would only make boring fights last longer.
Why are people complaining then?
Because PvE content is boring. They are confusing the symptoms with the cause. FGS abuse is a symptom caused by the extreme dullness of dungeons. Nerfing FGS will only move players to the next best thing, and the content will remain just as boring. Then what, people will ask for a nerf of 100blades? Strange that most people complaining about FGS are warriors, who used to have the best toys in the old meta!
What should those unsatisfied people complain about then?
About PvE content, and mainly the reward structure. I will surprise no one here if I say that fractals are the most balanced PvE component of the game. Yet this content is extremely unrewarding compared to other dungeons. Consequently players spend more time in the bore-fest that are most explorable paths. If rewards shifted away from boring content and moved into challenging areas instead, people would complain much less. Of course, the best would be to have only interesting content. All mobs in PvE do not move dynamically (while attacking), therefore the PvE game is polarly different from PvP. Such imbalanced create absurd gameplay. These are examples of game areas that should be asked to work on instead of blindly nerfing FGS.
Now what?
Too late. Short-sighted stubborn people complained too much. The devs will take the easy way out. PvE content will become more boring, and in the end more players may simply just leave the game. Wrong move all the way.
Toughness is hardly broken. Any glass cannon that walks around in WvW knows this.
Awkward… in more than one way.
Well, as have been said after every single S2 release (since this exact thread have been created multiple times after each one) they did it this way because otherwise people would focus on the achievements, miss out on the story and then whine about not understanding the story.
Ridiculous reason though, it’s how you treat children who can’t make their own choices. Besides, for most achievements you have to play through the same instance 3-4 times.
Focusing on achievements would only happen in open world living story anyway I think, people would just follow the zerg for a quick AP boost.
The story instances have spoken, unskippable dialogue. You CAN’T ignore the story and focus on achievements. During combat there is litarally no storytelling going on, and the combat is only made challenging by trying to get the achievements in the first place.
I’d even go as far as say this has the reverse effect on me.
The first time I play through it I rush it, as fast as possible, because I know I’ll be hearing it all again when I go for achievements and it’ll bore and frustrate me soon enough.
PLEASE.
This has really been frustrating me for a while now.
I have 8 characters, normally I’d play through the story with a couple of them and in the end I’d have all achievements.
Now, I have to do story with 1 character and then repeat the exact same instances for achievements. If I want to do it with a different char, I have to complete the exact same story again completely before I can try for an achievement.
It’s a really pointless design decision and it’s hurting my enjoyment of the game.
My thoughts exactly.
If they wanted to give the feature a vanity touch, they would have created several different icons and make some fancy ones expensive.
But all colors and at least 5 shapes must be free once the badge is earned.
(edited by MithranArkanere.8957)
A status symbol. Most WvW commanders I’ve talked to won’t bother to purchase a new color based on the fact they are being charged for a feature designed to help organize players in large groups, something this game has desperately needed since release.
The new colors will become a status symbol, and I fear players might even be mocked for purchasing them, much like the guy in town who revs his engine at the stop light in his super expensive car, or the guy who parks in the handicapped space in his brand new red Ferrari.
What are your thoughts?
Today, they put on sale the collection expander. Normally, I’d jump on that. But in 2 weeks, we learn about how they’re going to change how we “collect and trade” items. Does that mean that the collection expander I might buy, and the ones I have bought are going to be useless? What about other items, like the lumber pack? I just feel like I’m stuck in a holding pattern, waiting for them to tell us more about the feature patch.
Don’t spend gems till they start listening to the community.
The idea is fairly simple:
To prevent Black Lion merchant tab overload. After a set amount of time (I was thinking initially a year) the Black Lion supply has run out and is pulled from the vendor making room for newer sets. In exchange, the entire set of weapon skins becomes available for 10-20$ worth of gems (account bound on acquire similar to Zenith).
This gives people a chance to pay gold, buy/farm keys and otherwise earn them through current means, but once the time period is up it allows those who started playing much later after a skin set came out to afford them at a reasonable price (instead of half the cost of a precursor or so per skin) while avoiding merchant clutter.

You get a lot of T6 mats when making mystic clovers. Do the 10 recipe. It’ll take you longer to get all your clovers, but you’ll get lots of mats along the way.
You should gather your clovers first, since “failures” will give you something you need. However, don’t try to make clovers after you get your 77; there are far better ways to convert karma and skill points into gold.
There has been surprisingly little discussion about it, but you aren’t the first to make the Livia=Anise speculation. Her motives are pretty aggressive, and I wonder (hope) that the possibility that she is still using the old dual classes from 250 ago bring some cross class features into the game for PCs.
Talk about a game changer…
