I rather they keep dungeons to five man instances. Open world events are such lag fest and it’s not so enjoyable at times when the mobs get dpsed down so fast that I couldn’t get a hit in, not to mention those who love spamming visual effects. Also it’ll make it just like another world event boss where we’d have to wait for the respawn timer.
I do not see Anet as being completely abandoning dungeons, it’s just not on the top list as of now. Honestly, I see it as more of an underpromise technique. It’s already a plus that this game needs no subs, so if I’m bored I know I could just drop it, play other games or read a book or something, and jump right back in when I feel like it.
Just because they’re focusing on open world, does not mean they have to make everything open world. Also how is making dungeons open world a way that it won’t be forgotten content? As an instance, at least we have the loop hole of saying ‘this occured in the past’ in a bubbled event, as oppose to it being brought up to speed to follow current events, thus they do not need to rethink or remake the maps/story/quest too hard.
If another player’s experience can be ruined by PROPERLY playing the game, then it is time for that part of the game to be revised.

Well crap, I know what I’m doing tonight.
I won’t rehash the arguments for or against Commander Tags in PvE or otherwise. They have their uses, but many people find them irritating and nothing more than a kind of visual spam.
And now, of course, with the upcoming changes, there are swarms of them clogging almost every map.
The solution would be a Preference one can set so, if one wishes, one doesn’t have to see the things at all. Simple as that.
I think that they should have a daily rotating dungeon reward system.
In this case, the reward for running a dungeon path is increased, but is only available for a specific dungeon each day.
For example, let’s say today is Catacombs day.
Now you get 3g for each path (and 1g for story!). All other dungeons will NOT have a gold reward today but will have the one time token reward.
Tomorrow is Caudecus’s Manor day. Etc.
Please note that the gold amounts are for illustration purposes only and do not reflect any type of “balanced” value.
omg no. Maybe give a certain dungeon higher rewards for a day, but don’t scrap the rewards from the other dungeons of that day.
I have been a developer on AAA titles and specifically, MMOs. This article is less about criticizing ANet and more about them making the game more fun.
RNG is bad for MMOs. Here’s why:
1) RNG as implemented fosters player rancor.
I post that I haven’t found an item after opening 100 chest, someone else post they found it in the 2nd chest and they don’t see a problem.
2) RNG as implemented isn’t fair.
Nope, life ain’t fair. GW2 is not life, it is a game. It is entertainment. Frustration is not fun.
3) RNG as implemented isn’t fun.
Putting a desirable item behind RNG is a recipe for making people frustrated. Something that always drops is meaningless; something that never drops causes frustration. A balance must be struck.
4) RNG as implemented is illogical.
People who want the item do not get it. People who don’t want the item do. Since items cannot be sold in the trading post, this again creates frustration.
GW2 would be a better game and more fun if:
1) Allow rare drops to be sold. Remove account binding.
2) Improve the chance of a rare item drop the more a person tries to get it. I suspect ANet will say they can’t do this due to “technical limitations”.
3) Sell rare drops in the trading post for gems. People with money can buy the drop; people who have oodles of time/will can hunt for it. Please don’t hypocritically say rare things should be special, and then let people buy/sell “legendaries”.
RNG is fun and entertaining.
Excessive RNG is bad and frustrates players. Frustrated players don’t recommend the game and don’t spend money in the store.
This has been answered categorically in the wvw thread by a dev. Due to the feedback from the community a very hasty change was made and 2 devs worked over the weekend at short notice to sort this for our benefit.

Why does everything have to be a competition? If people want to compete with one another, they have pvp modes for that. The have competition between servers through wvw. They have a leader board for fractals for competition. Why does pve, which is supposed to be cooperative, have to also have it too? Is there something inherently wrong with not having everything competitive?
A lot of who you would want to bring depends greatly on what dungeon you’re running and the rest of the composition.
For example, there are paths where you can bump Ranger over Thief and Engi because Frost Spirit and Spotter along with Warrior’s buffs create a freakin’ buzzsaw of damage along with a couple eles and a guardian.
Other paths (like Arah) can have bosses like Lupicus melt in seconds with a good Mesmer in the party.
It’s kinda funny in that regard, how there’s kinda a meta within the dungeon meta.
The tome of knowledge doesnt give you your traits, just levels.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
if you would like to play the class that has the highest burst potentials
stay on warrior
if you would like to play the class with the most stealth
stay on warrior anyway.
Its probably better for you to be bored on your “OP” Warrior than frustrated and sad on any other class.

Trial accounts are usually limited in their interaction with full members. Often times, they can’t trade/mail, as a way to hedge out their influence on the economy.
Problem is, goldspammers can use free accounts to whisper/map chat against TOS with very little consequence.
You could deny them map chat privileges, and even deny them whisper priveleges to accounts that haven’t added them or something. Its a trial account, so some restrictions are normal i suppose, especially to avoid active problems like this.
This could work on the forums too!
If enough players ‘attack’ the thread. The thread is deleted. That way the community can remove troll posts, clutter and stupid ideas.

I can’t be more frustrated by the fact what is going to happen to commander tag.
THE PRICE INCREASES TO 300g PER ONE COLOR!!!!…
So we asked for colors so we can say in WvW: – people going to Bay – red tag, people going for hills – yellow tag.
Yet I fail to see how we can do that if we will probably purchase only one color so if you bought red and some other commander did also you will have 2 red tags and the system fails at the bottom level. I’m sorry, but that is just stupid… The fact it’s account bound is not an excuse… This is stupid upgrade and does not mean anything else than make commanders pay more to have ANY options…
Sure you can buy all colors for additional 900g(!!!) since if you use your tag you already bought blue for 100g. So 1Kg for being flexible commander for WvW… Great job…
That is just sick gold sink! IM SURE THAT WHEN PEOPLE ASKED FOR COLORS THEY DIDN’T WANT GOLD SINK BUT FEATURES FOR NORMAL TAG SYSTEM. Yet we will get this and it SUX big time!
If you want to sell them separately make them 30g if not just make it all colors pack for 100g, not 300g per all or per color. That will only make commanders mad and I though you wanted to help WvW community… It’s often hard for commanders anyway…

Today I have to help my real friend run ‘World summit’ Story line for AP.
He failed almost 10 times but I’m not here to complain about difficulty. (which is not, for me)
Gameplay is fun and all.
Storyline is ok.
AP hunter have things to do.
But something ruined it all.
Yes your proudly present dialogue that player have to go through repeatedly for each attempt.
World Summit has 5 min dialogue. 10 try = 50 min without AFK. (AC 3 run)
As I recalled Anet always respect player’s time.
like…don’t have to run half map to return quest.
Pls let’s us skip all repeatedly dialogue and straight to the fight.
So we player can use that extra 50min in the game some where else. (and enjoy it)

Dusty Moon, most of the time I agree with you, but me and guildies are crashing even though we live no where near each other at the same time in the same zone. But not all of us. But it’s happened more than once…too often for it to be a coincidence.
And it just started recently.
game runs fine for me, so it must be somewhat a personal issue
SAB W2 also released at the same time as Ascended weapons which meant that a lot of the PvE focus was on grind grind grind rush rush towards Ascended instead of SAB.
SAB to be permanent!
How can a company ignore so many players with content that’s already developed?!
Why kill fun?? For what?
Vote up if you, like me, want SAB to be a permanent game-in-game! Those who don’t wana play it, don’t. And those who do, will be able to! Why the grief?!

Everyone! Stop crafting the new backpack of Mawdrey and Mawdrey II! It’s a trap, a trap to doom Tyria!
Don’t you think it’s odd? ArenaNet, before Season 2, began said that they want player choice to be bigger in Season 2 than Season 1 (where we had the election). But where is that choice? It certainly isn’t obvious. But what can ArenaNet monitor so well that not everyone doing the main story will do? It’s obvious, right? It’s the backpacks! Crafting, or not crafting, the backpacks will affect the future of the Living Story. How, you might ask? Why would this bring about the doom of Tyria? Because they’ll overgrow us and take over in the name of Mordremoth!
In 4 months time, when ArenaNet has had a chance to analize the results and build upon them, the backpacks will grow and the lies of their description being kind and cuddly will be revealed. They will stretch those tendrils around our characters necks and strangle them like they have done to so many NPCs around the world, and our characters will not be revive-able – for they are no longer knocked out like the defeated state, they are dead, and resurrection magic doesn’t exist anymore. Then with the heroes of Tyria gone, Mordremoth’s forces will spread ever eastward, a new day a new zone! And if most instances of the map doesn’t push back Mordremoth’s forces, they’ll take over. But because of all the backpacks, there won’t be enough level 80s to eliminate the threat in Dry Top, our characters that we’ll have to remake will be too low level to do anything in Brisban, and when they reach Rata Sum – no more asuran characters! When they reach the Grove – no more sylvari characters! Divinity’s Reach? The same! Hoelbrak and Black Citadel! You guessed it! And then, when Mordremoth’s forces inevitable encroach on the last bastions of Tyria, Ebonhawke and Deathblade’s Watch, and they fall, the PvE servers, and the game will be nothing but WvW and sPvP. The world of Tyria will be Mordremoth’s vineyard.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Okay I get that there are people who hang on their every word like it’s holy writ and call them liars if they change something. I get that. But this has gone on long enough.
Almost all the issues that are coming up, again and again, are coming up due to lack of proper communication on Anet’s part. This is one storm Anet isn’t going to be able to sit out. It’s only going to get worse.
Anet needs to set aside some time to let us know what’s going on. Even if they can’t give us a specific time table. They have to stop obfuscating, and be direct, honest and more transparent.
This silent treatment has gone on for way too long. It’s turning what was a nice community into a mob…and you really can’t blame anyone for that.
It’s the slience that’s causing it. In the absence of information, people’s minds will generally fill in the worst.
So come on Anet. Talk to us. We’re willing to listen.
