Why we can`t use DPS meter?

Here is the reality on dps meters.

You can come up with a million and one theoretical reasons why they would be a good thing, but in practice (with years of anecdotal evidence), they have proven to be toxic and create hateful gameplay time and time again.

So does this feature called chat.

I think Verificus is a wonderful (/end sarcasms) example of why we don’t have damage meters in this game.

Don’t we all love how he assumes that because someone chooses to use cleric gear. Or not follow the meta. That they are automatically bad. Doesn’t matter whether its true or not.

DPS meters, inspect, etc encourage that type of mentality, which is something we absolutely don’t want. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against personal DPS meters (like testing a build in Isle of the Nameless in GW1), but when most people think “dps meter” they think “group” and we absolutely don’t need that.

Because they are bad… They actively ignore the reality that they are inefficient and playing a weaker build just because they want to play the way they want. Not only are they bad, they are selfish and shouldn’t be joining parties with people. If you want to run a kitten build and waste your own time that is fine, but don’t drag other people down with you.

This "Meta" has to end

Hasn’t ANET wasted enough time having to perform an initial zerker nerf as indivudla already felt it was too powerful ?

We can cry about meta all we want there will always be an optimal setup for a specific zone (game, aspect of your own real life – eg wear a suit to an interview if you want to get a well paid job).

I would prefer more and new content is developed rather than worrying about the “meta” or a “meta existing”

Now why do people hate players that know how to play there profession and can play the meta?

These individuals have put a lot of time and effort into things rather than face roll 1 in open world content.

Kinda hard to take you seriously when you just throw random numbers around. Full light armor sets costs less than 600g to craft and considering how easy it is to get money these days it’s not that much.

Because they ARE bad. If you had even the slightest understanding of combat and boss mechanics in this game you would know that the Dungeons and Fractals were designed (intentionally) to support high damage builds (like zerk) more so than any other type of build. Part of being a good player is being able to notice these things and adapt to it accordingly. So while said Cleric guardian could have lightning fast reflexes to have all his blocks and blinds up whenever the group needs it, keeps himself alive by knowing every attack in any encounter and dodging at the right time and knows when to set up reflects or condition clear, he is still a bad player for being suboptimal towards the group. All what I mentioned above means nothing when it’s 4 zerkers and 1 cleric. Zerker doesn’t work anymore then. Being cleric would mean about a 15% total group DPS loss. This leads to the fight lasting unnessecarily long and will often result in people (the guardian in particular) to run out of blocks/dodges/blinds. Builds are designed to last exactly x amount of seconds in battle as x fight takes x amount of seconds to complete. That is why pugs usually fail. It’s not that they don’t dodge or act like idiots, it’s that one or several players aren’t zerk and causing the other players to run out of damage negation and since they are squishy, they go down fast. Leaving the Guardian still alive, falsely thinking that ‘these zerkers’ must be really bad players cuz ‘they are down and I am still alive!’. While it is in fact his fault that the party died. So yes, wearing cleric does mean that you are a bad player. Or if you want me to nuance it, it means you don’t give a kitten about teamwork and being useful to your party and would rather run something ‘fun’ and completely sub-optimal causing everyone to spend way more time than needed in that dungeon. You could be the best pvp’r in the world and possess high individual combat skills, but you are still bad.

They have the money they need. They’re simply not listening to the community about how to spend it. I have to agree with Guhracie on this one, if they came out and said “we need money” I would only be willing to donate if they figured out the things that need to be changed (communication being number 1).

Bandit Crests and Geodes in Wallet!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The idea of ??the wallet for those objects which are used as currency to get other things that was a good idea but with new items introduced are not following the same performance, you should implement “bandit crests”, “geodes” and future objects with this characteristics in the wallet.

It is tedious to have to keep changing characters and see who has more or less of these objects, and that problem solved You had already pioneering the wallet system, but with these things you give reverse.

Thank you;)

More zones with buried chests

Chewablesleeptablet.3185

The whole event meta that goes down in Dry Top is a great design and one thing I would really like to see is the buried locked chests coming to every zone.

Guild Wars 1 had locked chests all over every zone and it was fun unlocking them by using lockpicks. I have no idea why this was not carried over. Sure there are chests at the end of certain veteran mobs and JPs but their loot isn’t so great.

PLEASE more armor sets instead of outfits!

in Black Lion Trading Co

‘I could really use this piece … oh wait … forgot it’s just an outfit!’

With the exception of some super hero games Guild Wars 2 definetly has one of the most powerful armor customization systems in the market. So it’s even more of a shame that the recent updates to the gemstore were just complete outfits with non-interchangeable pieces.

Come on ANet … first you introduce this amazing skin system that has us customize our character’s armor to a degree what hopefully becomes the industry’s standard and then you release some of the most amazing pieces of the game as stupid outfits?

If I wanted to dress like everyone else I would roll a dark skinned female human thief with one of those neon coloured flower hairstyles and put the tier 3 cultural chestpiece on.

If the outfits were armor skins I would’ve already spent 30-40$ or more on them. Since they’re completely useless to create an individual style I bought none to this day.

The way I see it outfits have two advantages over individual skins:
- no clipping (tremendous job btw: http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/gw2-ceremonial-plated-outfit-41.jpg)
- no transmutation required/easy to change

On the other hand:
- the only heavy issue with clipping would be a combination between the medium coats and leg pieces which are larger than the tight pants normally found in the medium armor category

Some suggestions for a solution:
- every outfit comes as an armor set as well (don’t care if it’s one or two seperate products in the gemstore)
- is there a way to restrict certain armor combinations? like restricting the leg piece from the ceremonial plated armor from being used with a medium coat but still being usable with the 3 medium shirts? Probably too complicated but still worth a thought
- release 3 slightly different versions for every armor type with every outfit to reduce the risk clipping without putting out 3 completely different armor sets (e.g.: medium version of ceremonial leg piece could be a much smaller pair of trousers with some of the metal ornaments on it)

I would really apreciate to see more armor sets in the future. It’s really frustrating to see awesome outfits that I can’t make any use of.

And while we are at it: more medium shirts (thanks for the glorious armor piece!!) and more heavy and light trousers would be awesome! And bring back the tribal armor!

Thank you for your attention! :*

In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a bad player. Only bad attitudes.

Lol well you are wrong. Totally and factually wrong. It’s a nice sentiment though.

And people already blamed rangers, now people will have the ability to tell which particular ranger it is. Better for one poor individual to be blamed than the entire class.

'Content you normally see in an expansion'?

People pay $40 for a console game, then consider it descent if they get 40 hours of gameplay out of it.

People pay $40 for Guild Wars 2, and after spending thousands of hours in the game, they complain about lack of content.

I don’t even.

Many people have said they are willing to spend another $40 if they get an expansion worth of content out of it.

Your implication that everyone asking for an expansion is wanting something for nothing doesn’t hold.
