[Fluff] Ascended weapon weight

We need a bit of fun in here.

So now that we can craft ascended weapon, we have weapons which require alot of material.
I just did some calculation on how much ore it takes for Zojja’s Blade:

  • 810 iron ore
  • 360 platinum ore
  • 450 mithril ore

Unlike legendary weapons, we do not throw them towards Zommoros in order to get something back.
We use these materials to craft a weapon, so this material is somewhere in that blade.
The blade must weight more than your average wrecking ball, which are between 0.5 and 8 metric tons of weight.

I mean what are we swinging there, and how are we doing this and why exactly isn’t each and everything we hit with it not immediately crushed to bits?

Tequatl and conditions...

Why do people keep talking about zerker dps on the boss? You can’t crit tequatl… precision and crit dmg useless so PTV or cleric’s for power builds. Condi builds also shouldn’t be defending the cannons because unless you’re organized and spiking condis on 1 mob then epidemicing it (lol coordination in pug pve zerg?), you aren’t going to take them out fast enough compared to power based dmg spiking.

People keep saying this… It’s like they have never actually fought teq… or I guess they are so zerg minded they just spam 1 and never actually look at their damage.

While it is true that you cannot crit teq during the first part of the fight, once the laser goes off it enables crits to take place. That’s the whole point of the giant laser. That’s why his health goes down very slowly at the beginning but then plummets to 0 when the laser goes off. The laser does no actual damage, it just enables crits.

And guess what? I’m still doing more damage across the whole fight than your puny little Zerker build. So, crit builds are Still USELESS in a world boss fight. Seriously, get off the crits. You guys are just as Useless as Condition builds are right now!

I would love for you to enlighten me on what build does more damage than zerker even without crits. Also i’m a condition build… and I assure you, I am much less useful than a zerker build.

In order for Zerker’s to be doing that much damage, they need all 3 armor stats. Condition builds only need Condition damage. And during most fights with World Bosses, Crit damage doesn’t count for much anyway.

And actually, now that I think about it, Zerker’s are more useless than almost any other gear combo, since they die whenever a boss so much as breaths on them.

So yeah,

  • Zerker dead. Can’t do damage. They are probably all the downed people you are stuck reviving during events like Jormag, which cuts into your ability to deal damage and and get parts of the event done too!
  • Me alive. Can keep doing Damage all day. Normally I will pop a spirit of Nature, and if it misses the downed guys, well, maybe they should learn what Toughness and Vitality is while I am reviving their sorry kitten.
  • Zerker dead. He can’t!
  • Me alive. I can!
  • Condition Builds are more useful then zerker’s too, because except for one or two gear combos, they have some sort of survivability, and won’t die when something breaths on them.
  • So, Zerkers dead. I’m alive. And Condition Build is still killing enemies while the Zerker’s Corpse is stinking up the place, well, until the 25 stacks gets put up, then your kind of standing there yawning, while sitting on the Zerker’s rotting corpse while me everyone else is doing damage.
  • In review,….Zerkers are just as Useless, as Condition builds, but with Zerker its a playstyle choice, because they want to see big numbers as fast as possible without understanding what happens when all you can do is make big numbers in the first place.

I can see them building the meta-bosses into something like raid content. Though, it might take them awhile, and a few tries, to find mechanics that work with zergs. They have to find that fine line between punishing a mindless zerg, and the mechanics having enough leeway for new players and a semi-competent zerg to actually complete it.

Its a fine, fine, line.

Well, if anything I would see the Meta-Bosses as being the absolute closest thing to a raid that GW2 has to offer.

500 Weap crafts/ascended weaps, actual use to high level crafting!

Blue/green trash drop sexy to salvage, total reboot of economy/sexy item sink so inflation doesn’t destroy the game like say D3.

Then, exactly what the game needed. Raid type PvE, done in a non-WoW bullkitten setup where your required to spend X hours at set times or you let your guild down.
World boss’s that an’t a joke/race to get there before they die.
LFG, that doesn’t just auto-link you with morons.

There’s also hope that there’s going to be huge class updates.

While this is the first game I’ve actually loved the story. I’m all up for them making the current game better & better.

Fix the trading post. Search for backpacks? Only heavy armor type? How about by stats?
Mini-pets that don’t just despawn every time you sneeze.
Multi-roles/specs being able to swap to.
^- These things would stop friends mocking.

Keep it coming Anet! Feature competent by the time Elder Scrolls Online hits!

No matter what Anet does, they need to keep it seperate from PvP and WvW because the ability to apply more than 25 stacks of any condition across any number of players would basically kill those parts of the game.

Tequatl Lore: ...what?

……at this point in the story, Zhaitan is dead,
…….

I found the flaw in your way too long theory. YOU assume Zhaitan is dead but all other players that have not finished the Personal Story don’t quite see it that way (so your theory is based on a kittenumption).

The LS saga intentionally NEVER assumes that it occurs after the end of the existing Personal Story because not all players have yet completed it. This does lead to plenty of confusion and questions as to the direction the LS is actually headed.

EDIT: Kittenumption is my new favorite word….

Tequatl Lore: ...what?

in Tequatl Rising

Initially, I was very confused by this update. It seems really out of place, and just confusing, given the direction that the living story has been going so far.

However, after thinking about it for a little bit, I think that this can have real potential with moving the main storyline of Guild Wars 2 forward.

While most people are skeptical that the dragons will be involved with the living story, this update seems to say otherwise, and I think that’s a good thing.

So, first of all, we know that Tequatl is (was?) Zhaitan’s Lieutenant and Champion. We also know that at this point in the story, Zhaitan is dead, which makes Tequatl’s resurgence a bit odd. Sure, there are still Risen milling about all across the Sea of Sorrows, but it was implied that their power and numbers were dwindling without their Elder Dragon around.

With this in mind, I can think of two possibilities:

Tequatl, being created by an Elder Dragon, entwined with much of the magic of the Elder Dragons, absorbed much of Zhaitan’s magic after he fell, much the way that the Elder Dragons themselves consume the magic of Tyria.

Or, Tequatl, leaderless and with draining strength, sought out a new master: a master in the “depths.” Yes, Zhaitan was related closely to water, sleeping beneath a sunken nation, and surrounded by the Sea of Sorrows, but ArenaNet seem to be putting particular emphasis on the fact that Tequatl is “rising” from deep in the ocean. The Sea of Sorrows seems to be a relatively shallow body of water, dotted with islands and archipelagos aplenty, so it’s likely that Tequatl is actually emerging from the Unending Ocean, which is highly speculated to be the location of Bubbles.

Personally, I like that theory much more, even if it may be stretching things a bit. However, if one imagines Tequatl as being of similar intellect as Glint, it does make a bit of sense.

Putting Tequatl’s lore aside for a moment, this update puts the living story in a very interesting position. Throughout the living story, we’ve seen recurrent characters in each update: Rox, Braham, Kiel, etc.. Although Kiel is probably busy in Lion’s Arch, it’s very likely that we’ll see Rox and Braham interacting with Tequatl, and even more likely that certain members of Destiny’s Edge will make an appearance. AreanNet is poised perfectly to take these new characters, which many players have started to grow attached to, and throw them into the dragon fight, perhaps becoming the catalysts to reform Destiny’s Edge, or form a new group to combat the Elder Dragons.

It’s an extremely exciting prospect, and I can’t wait for this update, and to see how all of these simultaneous storylines (Marjory and E, Ellen Kiel and Gnashblade, the Consortium) tie into the future of Tyria.

What do you guys think?

I hope it’s done on an activity basis on the rollout. It’d be pretty ironic if over half the players that were put in the beta weren’t actively playing the game.

Now THAT would be hilarious!

Hell, WoW has a fantastic LFG system and has done for years
(and yes that is the only thing I genuinely like about WoW)

And it only happened at the end of the 2nd expansion. I quit wow because of what the lfg did to the community, but thankfully gw2s isn’t an auto group finder / teleport into dungeons.

Here here, I played before the LFG was added and LFG killed the server community because you’d learn who was a dedicated tank, healer etc and you’d ask people politely if they’d like to make a group and often it was done within 10 minutes of organizing with the LFG you can spend an hour waiting and nothing..

And it gets better the people you usually get stuck with from LFG are usually illiterate non polite goons who go into rage mode so easily.
