The problem is getting to 450 crafting exotics to begin with, it takes a lot of ori and ancient wood. (not everyone is rich enough to hoard them.)

You have no idea how they feel, don’t act like you do. It’s obvious you don’t cause you are saying “It doesn’t matter”.

It doesn’t matter TO YOU. You are not losing everything you worked hard for. You are not losing all the gold, materials, and time spent. You are losing nothing. You have no idea what it feels like to lose everything you worked hard for and have to do it all over again.

We are losing money, materials, and time that we put into something that we enjoyed. It is how we play the game. You obviously will never understand that cause it doesn’t matter to you.

They aren’t losing EVERYTHING either. They’re losing a handful of exotics.

But guess what! It’s alright. Would you like to know why? Because they would have had to make those recipes over again anyway in order to level up to 500. They have to level up to 500 too because their crazy OCD will require them to have all the Ascended recipes too. This will just allow them to get up to 500 faster because discovery is better for leveling than making orange recipes.

There is nothing in the game that compels them to do it. No rewards and no achievements. Nothing more than a mental pat on the shoulder.

Well assuming the new skins will still cost 50 Bauble Bubbles, this isn’t a huge deal. You could already get 7 of them per character per day before. You’ll have double the amount of zones to do daily now, so that’s probably 13 or 14 BBs. Even if it is only one set of daily bonus rewards per account, that’s only 3.5 days for a skin. Really not too bad, IMO.

Not to mention I’m sure they’ll maintain the old system where some skins rarely dropped and could be sold on BLTC, so you could always buy them with gold.

That said, I did the same – got four characters with all the SAB equipment, so having an account-wide daily reward system would sort of make using more than one pointless. Oh well; this isn’t really an “end of the world” change. Now if they make the skins cost more than 50 Bauble Bubbles or increase the paltry amount of gold they cost before (what was it – 1g?), THEN I’d have a problem. Better not cost 10g like some of the Sovereign skins!

if TP is the only way then i must have used the tp in wvw when i picked up howl there and not long after someone in my groupe picked up truth(axe), so the precourcers are dropping n the world but its nothing you should be going for to get it that way but it is still a way

Truth is a skin from a champion bag… it tp’s for 1g.

Imagine you spent 200g on gearing up your character. Then Anet shows up and removes all your gear cause of some new feature they are introducing to gear. And all they can say to you is “oh well, do it all again”. So now you’re out 200g for all that money and time spent gearing up your character, and you have to spend another 200g and time again just to gear your character back up. Does that seem fair to you?

Thats a completely different analogy. Gearing up your character servers a genuine purpose, discovering countless recipes you have no use for at the moment and will possible never have a use for serves no genuine purpose. All you are doing is fulfilling some pointless compulsive urge.

To see so much anguish over the most trivial thing brings me great joy to be honest.

This thread has made one thing abundantly clear: 99% of the people using the word “unlock” have no idea what it means.

Here’s a hint: these level 400 exotic recipes are not “locked” and never were.

If you want to whine that you had a beautiful list proving that you had crafted one of each item, and after the patch you won’t, fair enough. Whine away. But don’t carry on as if you’ve “unlocked” something and now it is “locked” again.

I really can’t comprehend what people’s problem is here. I’m failing to understand why in the world you would want to go discover every single recipe if you know for a fact that you know the recipe and can produce the weapon/armor/etc at any given time. By now we all know that at PAX it was revealed how Tequatl will become a “raid boss” of sorts. What gets to me though is the requirement of 80 players minimum to succeed.

This got me wondering, why did ANet push for such a crazy amount? I mean, in theory all open world boss fights will undergo the same restructuring, which is great. However, how will this work. If 50 players take on Teq, they’ll fail. Moreover, he actually leaves now and we also don’t know how his timer will function.

I guess the battle will be made available in the LFG tool, but we’re still not sure how exactly it works. Can you apply for the event and be thrown into a group with random 5 players?

All I want to know is, with so many players needed, how will ANet allow players to fill that quota when the boss appears?

I’m laughing so hard at this. I can barely get 20 people for Teq on a good day. How can Anet expect me to gather 80 people on a server that barely has that many? Please Anet, for the love of all that is good in this game, think when you come up with new ideas for raids/dungeons/pve! Think about the servers with a low population that probably don’t even have 80 people on them.

Except you’ll likely be spending hundreds of gold getting to 500 crafting levels- for all you know, it might have cost you more to get to 500 without getting any discovery xp than it will to get to use all these discoveries for xp purposes.

I don’t think anyone’s denying this is a stupid change- if low 400 xp was truly the issue, they could have just put in a new cloth/ore/wood that’d level you to 425 and then some simple insignias/gear to make to 475 before the costs really start to hurt.

But- they’re taking away a lot of effort from a lot of people- those who made celestial gear, those who got ascended celestials (I’ve not heard you can replace celestial with other stats, though if you can this would be a moot point), everyone needs to regear in a game which was first touted as not having stupid gear grinds (and ascended is a considerable upgrade).

But with the way they’re doing it- ultimately, not letting us redo discoveries would hurt way more people than it’d help.

My opinion is if it’s time-gated then the items we create should be trade-able, if the items are going to remain account bound then there should be no time-gate. As someone who can only play on the weekends (usually), time-gating means it will be years before I can outfit all of my characters. For a daily player, it will take two weeks per item.

People seem to be keep missing the fact that some of the items are in fact tradeable.

Basically, you have a raw material (account bound), which you can used to make a refined material (account bound), which you then use to make the component material (unbound).

This started in another thread, where someone said to me that Guild Wars 2 has a gear treadmill, specifically stating that they’d never seen a definition of gear treadmill that said gear progression has to be ongoing.

Obviously, to me, the whole concept of a treadmill is moving and moving and moving and getting nowhere. There’s always another tier of gear.

Now Guild Wars 2, at least with legendary weapons, means that if you get one, it’s always going to be on par with the highest stats in the game. That is to say, I have a legendary rifle. So when the ascended gear comes out, my rifle will move up to that level. It’s a cap on gear.

And if there is a cap on gear, can you call what’s going on here a treadmill? I don’t think so.

What we have here is a gear escalator. Yes, there is vertical progression…to a point. But after you get to that point, it stops. You get off. And once you’re there, you don’t have to worry about gearing up.

In fact, legendary weapons allow you to change stats out of combat, so that a legendary weapon is in fact all weapons of that type. You only need one.

So the real question is, if legendary armor gets released…is it going to be the same. Guaranteed best stats and the ability to change to different stat sets?

Because if it is, that’s gonna be amazing.

This is hands down one of the most baffling asinine arguments I have seen on the forums yet. Essentially a bunch of OCD crafters angry their list is no longer complete. Discovering exotics prior to the new update holds no purpose unless you need to use those items or wish to trade them. To discover every single recipe seems very pointless. You gain no xp, no achievements, or any other reward for doing so. It seems like the sole purpose is to fulfill some compulsive urge.

Anet should not refund anyone anything in resetting them, you are losing nothing in the process. You still keep your learned recipes from Recipe Items, and will now actually gain xp for discovering recipes. It’s mind boggling you have somehow found a way to find fault in this.

If you had 100s of gold to waste on completion back then, it probably won’t be hard to make enough gold to fill it up again. This change benefits 99% of players- you can’t place a group of super elite, super wealthy OCDers above them.

And as you’ve all said- it cost you hundreds of gold, but clearly that’s no issue if you have enough cash to be a completionist (it’d have cost you tens of thousands after all to collect all the legendaries). Frankly- you could get all these discoveries again in what it’ll cost to discover one or two ascendeds.

I dislike this greatly. What happens if a character wants to salvage gears for mats, but the account already has 300% MF? These should be sellable, just like the mats.

I’m crossing my fingers and hoping the Essence she had was the stuff being sent to the chars in the mail (the 20%) in which case I can understand it being bound.

However if you salvage gear for it, you should be able to sell it. Especially since they are putting an account cap on it.

Been asked since launch, and it’s probably one of the biggest gripes I have with salvaging, and now that it will undoubtedly be more efficient to salvage them, this would be a huge quality-of-life change.
