The funny part I find about this is…if they made it say…badges and gold to get ascended…the SAME people would be in here “kitten”-ing about how long it takes for them to farm that gold without going and having to PvE. The point of ascended gear is that you CAN’T just get it fast. PLUS, WvW has a higher chance of getting ascended gear since we can get it in our chests rank to rank, which can’t be said for anything except 1 chest per day as a chance from FoTM daily. Really….don’t whine and gripe about the daily because if you spend time in WvW you can get it done fast enough as it is. To the poster..maybe if ya hadn’t have spent them on dyes at first you would have had the laurels needed. WvW’ers have the SAME ability to get ascended as PvE’rs, and MORE ability than just straight sPvP’s (since they don’t really need it). In fact, these days WvW’rs have an easier method to even get exotic gear. WvW’rs tend to moan and groan about gear till the dev’s change kitten, then moan and groan about the changes cause it’s still not easy enough -.-

Disclaimer: Yes I am a WvW’rs, and yes, I do have full ascended, and no it didn’t take me long, took me about a month and a half to have full ascended of playing just 2-3 hours a day.

To the “hardcore gamer who posted above”: Yeah…it’s time gated for a reason. Do you also complain that since it takes forever to get a legendary people with 8 full alts like you can’t get it, and therefore they need to make it so you can get legendaries like 10x easier? Heck, lets just put them in the gem store for like 800 crystals and that’ll really make them legendary!!

The NA matchups won’t be available until the reset.

In the future will we have a bit more of a heads up, especially as to what color the server will be? I know on TC the guild leaders like to get together and decide what guilds are going on what maps so that not all the guilds go on the same map, and the color of the map decides if they’re bay side, hills side, etc.

Handin, there’s an easy workaround for you. Ooh, two easy workarounds, actually! Both will assume you’ve got your EB & BL groups planned, as it doesn’t matter what color you are – EB & your BL will always be EB & your BL. As for the other two BLs, there are two options to coordinate without knowing who is what color:

1. Have a team go “left” and a team go “right” from your BL. If you’re in the middle, it’s nice & obvious what’s left & what’s right; just imagine wrapping the edges of the map together, so that if you end up in the green position (at far left), red (middle) is right of you and blue (far right) is left of you.
2. Have a “top” & “bottom” team – your top team goes after the higher (green or blue) borderlands, and your bottom team goes after the lower (blue or red) borderlands. This one’s probably less confusing… but I thought of #1 first, so I decided to put it in anyway.

On another note entirely, I also want to thank the devs for introducing this element of randomness into the matchups. I am perfectly comfortable getting wtfpwned every now & again; losing hard is just a part of the game sometimes. The proper response to a roflstomp is not to get demoralized & quit, but to take stock of the situation and adapt. I’m not saying such adaptation will result in victory, I’m saying it will result in learning (so long as you’re paying attention). Adversity is often the greatest teacher.

Please explain how WE, while completely holding EB and a borderland against Arborstone AND Whiteside ridge for almost a whole week, got put in this lowest tier.

Well why should we at Blacktide, after beating FoW and Vabbi like this every week for ages, have to stay in tier 9? Maybe we are better than you. Maybe not. Time will tell now, instead of before when we had no chance to try.

The short answer: every week, somebody has to play against Fissure of Woe and Vabbi. Whoever it is, they are probably going to win by a lot.

This week it’s you. Next week it will probably be somebody else.

The advantage of the new system is, one server is no longer stuck playing those two every single week.

I understand that from your perspective, Blacktide having to play them every week is better than you having to play them just once, but that’s not a good outcome for Blacktide — they deserve to play somebody else from time to time. And when they do, somebody else has to play FoW and Vabbi instead.

In practice, the servers full of people who give up in the face of adversity kind of deserve to get lower ratings.

The higher-rated servers are the ones that continue to fight, no matter what. Under the old system, tier stagnation allowed some servers an easy ride once they fought their way into a tier, but under the new system each server will have to continually prove that they deserve their rating, or risk falling in the rankings.

WvW is supposed to be PvP not PvE … kill a player often give less wxp than a dolyak -.-’

WvW is not pvp, wvw is about conquering the map with military strategy, that’s why they need to reward more those players that take and defend objectives instead of those chasing enemy zergs. We need a total rebalance to make players being more focused on important things (you don’t win the match if you kill players as they don’t reward points).

Just to let you know, if theres no queue, you can get one person to restart their client, when they log back in they can immediately right click the party members to kick them, before they rejoin wvw and get bugged again like everyone else.

I know its not a real fix, but can be easier then recreating entire party.

Why restart the client? you can just hop into the mists and do the same.

GW2 is doing well considering its different revenue streams. Realize that Lineage 1 is an MMO with a subscription, and is popular in Asian cultures. So long as it has significant subscriptions, it will naturally earn more money than GW2, whose only revenue post-box-sales is the gem store. The very fact that a F2P game like GW2 is doing better than NCSoft’s other games tells of the magnitude of the success of GW2.

There’s definitely a point in here! But how do you counter 30 seconds of revealed, in a build focused on a stealth 1 attack like backstab or sneak attack? Those skills have been essentially removed from your bar, for 30 seconds. Along with all of your On stealth / While stealthed traits.

I’m actually pretty fine with the possibility of being stuck visible for 30 seconds, but losing access to those tricks is pretty painful, and unless I’m missing something there’s no way to get them back.

Again, similar painful counters happen to other professions aswell. And the “counter” (i refuse to even acknowledge it as a viable counter to Thieves) costs 10supply+15badges+500karma. Takes 4seconds to place down, AND ITS NOT THAT BIG.
Its not a “anything Stealth in a 3000range and i go off”-thing. Its a stripe-shape and its incredibly obvious if someone is placing a Trap.

People will place these on chokepoints, not to catch a single Thief, but to catch an entire Zerg using Veil, its a counter to Mesmers!
Are you seriously thinking people will use these just for you? You arent worth 15 badges, 500 karma and 10 supply just to catch you out of stealth.
Those 15 badges buy me 15silver worth of Siege, or gear. I’d rather risk the repaircost fighting you then try to bait you into a trap. Its just much cheaper…

Besides, we all know that if you do trigger it you’ll just run away and there isnt much i could do about it anyway.

I would contend that TREK is only as easy as you state because you used a guide to tell you exactly which zone and where to go to complete it.

I find that trek is realistically, the only (go find this mission) that you COULD potentially do without the online guide. And even with the online guide, some of the bounties are down-right impossible to do, because of random locations.

The trek is an example of how missions should have been. Easily doable at tier 3 with 10 people. The missions system should have been geared to smaller guilds, not the massive guilds. Also the challenge system would be fine if it scaled up right, but it just gives up the ghost over 20, and lets you zerg ball things down.

If a player dropped it, it is a rare.

The 5 supply gain from the dolyak is considered a rare item, which is why dolyaks drop chests with ‘nothing’ in them. If you disable autoloot you can see the supply item before accepting it.

Quickness change – not so wonderful. Great for PVP players, not so great for those of us mainly in PVE. QZ was increased, it’s weaker than before but at least the time was spent to try to balance it. There is no mention of our Zephyr’s Speed skill getting a duration increase. I’m going to assume it was increased and wasn’t included in the patch notes (not the first time we’ve seen that happen). This must be correct, seeing as the quote from the section about the Quickness change says “while slightly increasing the duration on player-activated skills”. So after the patch, if it doesn’t last longer, everyone needs to make sure to BUG REPORT it, because obviously they meant to change it and forgot.

Maybe its already an option and I just haven’t figured out how yet, but I think being able to purchase multiple items from a vendor would be awesome. Lots of times, I’ll find that things “Alonian(SP?) wine” for example are sold in singles or very small stacks. If you need 25+ of these, it can become a tiny bit tedious to have to click click click to get them. Not game breaking or anything…but I’d love to see the option to hit like… SHIFT and be able to select a number you want to purchase at the same time.

Right now Legendaries are extraordinary expensive weapon skins when compared to exotic weapons because they mostly have the same stats, but that’s because exotics are the top tier weapons statwise when it comes to weapons.

However, Anet has said that legendaries are supposed to always be the top tier, so in the future if (when) they add ascended weapons with better stats than exotics, the legendaries stats will be adjusted to be on par with ascendeds.

I would take that with a large pinch of salt. For one thing, it was probably not Anet that added that particular bit of text.

Even if it were, it was not neccessarily anyone with the necessary seniority or clout to be able to say “yes, all monthlies are exclusively PvE content”

Finally, stop categorising yourself into “PvE Player” and “PvP Player”. We can all be both, what is the point of denying ourselves any part of the game out of some weird principle? It’s fine to prefer one over the other, but must you then EXCLUSIVELY play ONLY that mode? Come on man, open your horizons a little.

I dont PUG any dungeons because of magic find gear. You can never be sure who is in it and is thus leeching off all your hard work. Thus, I make sure to never do dungeons in PUGs. Not that I do any PvE really anymore. And that is partly, again, due to MF gear.

I know, right? And what about all those with sub-par PCs, bad connections, build and gear I don’t approve of, classes I find weak, people with less than 2000 hours online. All those noobs ruining dungeons, shame on them. They should just go to their noob corner and quit gaming in general, because they are just too noob to be allowed online. You are failing to make the distinction around your examples. MF is a conscious choice to increase your risk (gimp yourself) in order to realize the possibility of greater reward. It’s fine single-player but doesn’t work in groups as when you choose to gimp yourself you also gimp the group. The salt in the wound is that though you contribute less to the group, you are then rewarded more for contributing less. It’s not a technical issue; it’s a question of human values. Some players hold a higher standard for themselves and would like to play with people who share those values.

Precisely. You get rewarded extra for helping the group less. Goes against everything Anet stands for.

Magic find in a dungeon/fractal SHOULD equal out. So if 1 person has 100% magic find and all other 4 have 0% magic find then everyone (including that person in mf gear) should get 20% magic find (100 divided by 5 = 20).

It’s displaying the daileys based on your system time, but the server actually hands out credit for completing them. So you need to your system time to the correct time. (It’s probably set for the wrong date.)

To be honest the hostilities between both servers are all that surprising. This is a match where one server wins comfortably by 70k+ every week and will do so for the foreseeable future and the other server is one that has been stuck in this scenario for over a month. Morale drops, tension rises and this is the result.

FA doesn’t do bad enough to be in tier four, TC doesn’t do good enough for tier two. Does any part of that mean they shouldn’t fight each other for even twenty weeks in a row? There is no better place to put those two servers.

I agree with the idea of small changes at a time. I have seen to many times what happens with large buffs or nerfs or changing way to many items at once. with that said here are a few things i hope will be looked at some time in the future.

SKILL SLOTS

1. a better condition removal would be nice. haven’t played all the classes yet but the ones i have played have better skills for this imo. my mesmer doesn’t just remove all but puts them on his foe and steals foes boons at same time. engi converts all conditions into boons. my necro can also clear all her conditions and at the same time transfer them to her foe. what do rangers get? we get to kill our pet.

2. spirits. as many have said they need more survivability . the increased proc chance doesn’t seem to matter as they all seem to have a internal CD. when i was testing them in the mist with shortbow i allways got 21 to 23 shots off between procs.

3.survivability skills

a)protect me? with all the reflects and immunities in the game we get yet another skill to kill our pet? I see a lot of people classify the ranger as druidic using nature spells and taiming pets. if this is what anet is going for the i would suggest a trait something along the line of thorns (when hit with a melle crit the ranger cast a thorns, giving 5 sec of immunity and damages or bleeds anyone that hits the ranger with a melle attack for the next 5 sec. 20 sec CD). not exactly sure how to balance it but this would be close to the warriors 5 sec rataliation trait with 15 sec CD.

b) lightning reflexes. would like to see this one be able to remove snares. many times i have went to activate this and get snared a split sec before it goes off and pretty much just roll in place.

c) hide in plain sight trait should probably camo pet as well.

WEAPONS

1. longbow. as many have said needs faster travel time on arrows, also the cast time seems much longer than the .75 listed on the auto attack(mainly wondering if it is just mislabeled). the the channel time on rapid fire needs to be shorter to make it a semi burst ability.

2. shortbow. would like to see the bleed not have a flanking resticktion. #3 quick shot, not sure if this happens to others a lot, but many times my ranger just jumps straight up and down instead of backwards.

3.axe main hand, the only thing i would really like to see on this one is for the ricochet to not bounce to nonhostial(yellow mobs). axe off hand whirling defense, should be able to move while using this. even then probably still wouldn’t be worth using off hand axe.

4. warhorn. hunters call, this ability acts like a DoT. you cast it on your target then they take damage over time. however it doesn’t follow the rules of other dots. after you land the spell your target can dodge, block or line of site you to stop its damage. also maybe add a blind or confuse to it. all those hawks scratching out your eyes would make it hard to see

5. torch. this one seems to be just fine imo.

PETS
1. AoE midigation maybe 25% or so.
2. gain a small amount of stats based off ranger stats.
3. move faster without having to waste a major trait.
4. more responsive attack command and f2 abilities, shorter windup for attacks.
5. lower pet damage say maybe 25 or 30% and increase rangers damage an appropriate amount to make up for it. this will give rangers more control over their damage and help out in situations where pets are useless such as tower/keep siege/def.
6. stop the pets from forgetting their names.

Wisdom is the reward for surviving our own stupidity.

Because it’s part of the design. It can also be seen as a minor mechanic to help losing teams get back on their feet.

A person wanting to do the EB jumping puzzle enters but sees they don’t have a keep. Then they decide to either leave of help out long enough to take the keep. If they leave they open up a spot for another player. If they decide to help out that’s another player helping out, while the enemies still have a small portion of their team in the jumping puzzle.

It effectively causes the losing team to gain a small numbers advantage.
