I’d love to have you describe what you think the ranger is. I enjoyed reading that theme-based balance explanation.
The Necro, on the other hand, should be the dude you CANNOT get away from.
Unfortunately, that is not the way things are working right now. Any class built for mobility can easily get away from a necro.
It’s the necro that is stuck in a live or die fight once they engage or are engaged. That is not true when a mobile class engages a necro. They can pretty much disengage and leave whenever they want if the fight is going poorly for them.
I’d settle for a much simpler version: when the banner is summoned (and not expired) it gets replaced with a recall skill like shadowstep and spectral walk, only it’s for teleporting the banner back to the player.
Then I can still use them for blast finishers, have an ally carry one, and so on, but if someone flees with it I’ll just rip it back to where I’m standing.
It kinda makes me sad that Greatswords have a ton of skins that would be good… except that the weapons look ridiculously out of proportion on any character.
They look cool at times, but most of the time look incredibly cheesy and oversized.
In GW1 you knew if someone had a dope weapon just from the skins, it didn’t need to be chronically oversized on some WoW kitten.

You want people to play the game they like your way and no other way and you don’t agree on any other way to play the game. You even insult people and start hating on a hole nation because they don’t agree with you.

If people like building up stuff and even fight for it to not fall, than so be it…
Deal with it YOURSELF or search for a new game to play that makes you happy.

Maybe for a change of pace they should put all the national servers against each other and do a few matchups that way. Winner of DE, FR and EU matchups fight it out to be king of Euro servers.

Saw thread title, said “AW HELL NO” and rolled up my sleeves. Then I saw the thread poster and knew what it would be saying.
Yup, 100% correct. The game offers no reward for being good at it. The only thing keeping me in is that I have nothing better to play and I’m keeping myself entertained with projects to help other players be good at the game.
Well of Blood was a water field in beta. It got changed to light field sometime right before release. As to why, I don’t know.
For the same reason a sledgehammer was taken to the ranger class.
The 2 classes were master classes back then, and they were shattered into the garbage classes they are today.
As cool as retaliation is, as a healing ability it’s more reasonable for Well of Blood to provide healing in conjuction with combo finishers. It would be a very powerful group heal ability (especially in wvw), but the fact that finishers can only interact with 1 field at a time can actually screw a group over quite badly, as Well of Blood might potentially prevent finishers from interacting with any overlapping water fields, and thereby actively PREVENT healing! Pretty paradoxical for a healing skill!
And from a fluff perspective, well it is, after all, a WELL… :p I mean, I know blood is thicker than water and all, but it IS 92% water! ;D
Why do people act and say that warhorn is melee and off hand dagger is ranged?
Wh daze range = 600 and the cone is very wide at 600 range.
OH dagger range is 900.
If 600 range is melee and 900 is ranged, where is that breaking point then? Is 750 the border between melee and ranged?
A lot of times you can actually use the daze from a safe cliff without getting down.
Just realize how huge the daze area and range are.
When I see the necro forums all I see is “rabble rabble rabble rabble”!!!
I can hardly blame people on these forums when they do this. Its absolutely appauling how this class got a massive jack hammer nerf at launch and then dumped on the side of the road. Every patch is nothing but stupid tool tip bug fixes for necromancers. I think most of us have been extremely patient with ANet up to this point.
Remember when the thief trait Hidden Killer got bugged and thieves could no longer 100% critical backstab out of stealth? That got hot fixed almost immediately.
Necro 1/3rd downed health bug has been in effect since beta, still a problem. The Reaper’s Touch trait bug has been in effect since beta, still bugged. They just NOW fixed the Greater Marks size bug, but they broke something else in the process, so who knows how long that will take to fix. Flesh Golem still hasn’t learned to swim. Our cast times are still out of balance with the rest of the classes. Our trait tree is still a jumbled mess. We still have ridiculous cool downs on a lot of our abilities by comparison to other classes. Axe is still really, REALLY bad as a weapon. Minion AI is still very problematic. Nothing has been addressed about our lack of attrition that ANet seems to think we have. Our “access to poison” is still pretty terrible. 25 bleed cap is very much still a problem. The absurd amount of condition cleansing in PvP and necromancers inability to cover their bleed stack is still problematic for necromancers.
You’ll have to forgive some of us if we seem a little… upset. Its been 9 months now. Some of us actually had some hope that ANet was going to do the right thing here.

The Necro community makes me think of the big business world community during a stock market crash or right after losing millions over night. We’re just one fine hair away from jumping out of the top floor window of Anet central.
Then resurrecting each other for a Necro-Army that’s riddled with bugs and demands more changes.
based on what I saw with the reduced hp in downed, you first need to do a video recording before they are willing to acknowledge there is a bug. Maybe with it being right after the patch it will be different but if there is no response regarding this subject….this is probably why lol

I think at this point they are making bugs, just to have more stuff to put in the patch notes…
It’s not like they actually put much time into this game, but at least the list of patch notes can try to lie about it.

It’s not every other class. It’s the classes with build in evade in their abilities that probably made you make this thread… such as thieves and rangers.
and Mesmers and Guardians and Eles
You should be happy getting reported is the worst thing that could happen to you in-game. Go ahead and tell your co-worker or teammate to “go die in a fire” next time they make a mistake and you’ll see just how much worse real life consequences can be.

I just report everything (unless done in a joking manner), there’s no reason for being a jerk. The more you report the better the community will get, I say.
necromancers disagree
1 miss 4 out of 5 Epidemics because of random dodge rolls. Epidemic doesn’t affect the target (I mean, 0 dmg, no boon stripping or any effects on him), and should be unaffected by his dodge. It is already annoying enough to have line of sight.
Two classes stand out to me in this regard: Rangers and Thieves. Evades and dodges … and teleports to some degree is imho for these two ott.
Thow Mesmer in there too. Is isn’t the dodge mechanic alone, but the collective defensive mechanics available. Mesmer has generally been considered a top tier class all along and one of the very large contributing factors is the fact MH sword = 20+% uptime on distortion. Another is that S/X,St has 2 quasi-stunbreakers on short CD weapon skills.
Guardian is similarly problematic due to the combination of defensive controls and blocking in addition to high protection and vigor up times (though at least it requires some skillful play with a guard instead of burst every 10-15 seconds and you cant get hurt).
Really the classes that are currently strong in Tourney play all have some means of over utilizing defensive mechanics compared to the ones that are not. I suppose you could argue that engi doesn’t fit that description, but that is the only debatable exception that I see.
When you’re playing in tournaments, people will be competitive. But the enemy player talking trash in that manner was unacceptable. You should have just reported him. I don’t know any decent players that call other players “garbage” when they win, that’s as low as you get on the sportsmanship ladder.

Yea, evades in general are at times a bit over the top and it’s not just dodge rolls (I’m looking at you, rangers). It’s a pretty big balance issue, especially considering how important evades are. Vigor as well. Mesmers get a free vigor on crit trait for a measly FIVE points up their most important tree. Sigil of energy is used relatively ubiquitously for a kitten good reason.
Worst of all it appears like not a lot of thought has been put into it from a-net. I wouldn’t consider cutting the invulns on dodge just yet but I would definitely think about hampering access to vigor as well as the strength of it in general (that isn’t to even mention protection, why that thing hasn’t been nerfed is beyond me)
Well, it wouldn’t be Spam Wars 2 if you couldn’t spam evades, dodges, boons, AoEs and particle effects.
I do agree with you here.
In my mind, dodge rolling should be meaningful and well timed in execution -its the main thing that separates the men from the boys in tpvp. But it seems like every other class has so much access to evades and vigor these days, that it makes dodge rolling spamable and meaningless.
I hate the feeling I get when my enemies get a random dodge off that saves them from a huge burst or cc skill that should have punished them severely (like an eviscerate on warrior or a 3 clone mind wrack on mesmer), but it’s even worse when you fight an ele or bm ranger with nearly unlimited access to vigor and they roll around every 1-2 seconds so you’re not even able to count out their endurance and landing a meaningful skill on them becomes like winning the lottery.
So what do you all think? Should vigor/evades be toned down, or do you think its fine where its at? -Its late, I might just be cranky right now, but this is really getting on my nerves tonight for some reason lol.
