I don’t understand why people are making a fuss over mesmer portals in JP’s, if you don’t want to use a portal, don’t use it, play the game the way you want to play it, its as simple as that. How would nerfing portals help you in any way? Increase the population in the JP to block your view of jumps? Comon now… People can choose the way they want to play the game, and some people are incapable of completing jump puzzles, so why make them suffer?
As someone who loves jump puzzles, i complete my jump puzzles normally, but sometimes i even get annoyed with not being able to make a jump, and when i’m pressed for time i don’t see why using a portal should be illegal.

With the release of the newest jumping puzzle, this issue has become more apparent. People are using jumping puzzles to trivialize the content. For instance, with the new jumping puzzle a Mesmer can create a portal at the chest, wp, and then run within range to port everyone to the very end.
Can we get a debuff while inside that prevents portaling or at least reduces its range? How about having no wp’s close to a jumping puzzle? How about making it so that the portal skill cancels and is forced into cooldown when you wp?
It’s a class mechanic that in no way harms YOUR gameplay. Seems like you’re bent out of shape for something that’s pretty silly (imo). I have the choice to complete the puzzle (which is often the case) or use a portal if one is offered just like you do. I don’t begrudge others for simply using the portal. It really has no effect on me personally. It’s a GAME, lighten up a bit.
Probably there should be a mechanic which, as soon as someone gains some wxp (say 200wxp), he cannot change the map for some time (<one hour).
So you can enter a map and check around a bit and see whats going on, capture a camp and kill two dollies and maybe realize you want to change map which is fine.
You can also hop maps and cap a camp or two, so the mechanic would not be too restrictive.
But as soon as you capture a tower (gaining over 200wxp) the system will start your personal timer preventing you from entering another wvw map.
Practically you enlisted yourself for that particular map by gaining a certain amount of wxp.
just an idea
I have to say, I don’t care about nonsense… Kits are fun ;D
fun is waaaay superior to logic imo !
My character is asura and i recently finished my personal story. I really like roaming to major cities and talking to people or finding cool places. Yesterday I was in my homecity Rata Sum, I got on lower level of the city, where crafting stations are, and people I could talk to would recognise me as Savant, one guy was even offensive that i was better than him. Another couldnt believe that I was in her lab. I also visited my home instance and all i did on my way to the Zhaitan was there, my order representative, the guy i chose in the creation and my krewe. I’ve never encountered this before but now i am happier since people i’ve met actually remember me.
I do not feel sorry for WRS and BT because.. They are die-hards like I never seen before.. They can put up a fight you won’t expect..
Especially TEO guild from WRS, u guys literally farmed my zerg at QL when walls were down!
Really, hands down for both servers, was a real pleasure to command EB this day against you guys O
Wish more servers were dedicated like you..
Cheers
I really feel SORRY for Whiteside and Blacktide that Anet came up with this match-up. I admire the fighting spirit of WS and BT because even they are SERIOUSLY outnumbered they just keep trying and fighting…/respect. Beside that BT has some very skilled WvW players because our zerg got owned several times in EB last night by BT!!!
I don’t know if you’ll read this but if you do -
It’s really refreshing to have a member of a company/team reply so often and with great clarity to issues that players have. After dealing with some awful companies over my gaming years, it’s truly a great thing to know that there is at least one forum mod in the entire gaming community who replies like an actual human.
Keep up the good work
The issue is three-fold.
First we have the lack of emotional attachment. When most of the character interactions in the game are done by two characters standing still in front of a pretty multi-layered two dimensional background, there is no freaking room for the characters to interact with the world around themselves. Other than speaking to each other, even the characters cant interact.
Best example, Chlore Island (Trehearne says its Chlore Island, dont you dare question the Marshal of the Pact). Talon is laying in a pool of his blood (from an injury we dont even see or hear being inflicted). 2D background sweaps in. He is downed, you can see that alright. And you have Deputy Mira, an other character that deserves some discontent for the voice acting. Standing there. Talking. With Bland voice. Slowly.
“Iits thhee duuuttyy off eevverrryyy Lioonguuaaard tooo ggiivveee…”
“For Kormir’s sake, just help him up like i revived you FOUR TIMES already!” – would shout my character.
I just whimper “At least try and raise an arm, unsure of what to do. Take a freaking step closer. Just kneel down next to him. Just try and look said or conflicted. And why do we have the same 2d background as before the battle? Would have been nice if we see our own character battle 2d undead silhouettes in the background, even in slow-mo, just an indication that we are holding the line…”
And thats just the animation part. The voice acting and the actual writing is the last nail though.
The same is the issue with Trehearne. Without interaction in animation, emotional attachment in voice is a must, or the whole character feels detached from everything around him. Trehearne and Mira were not there on Chlore Island. They were sitting in a voice-over studio when that happened. And we only hate Trehearne more than Mira because he still claimed to be with us even after Chlore Island. But he never left the voice-over studio.
Then, there is the actual writing of the character. Every other character interaction has the same limits in the game as he had, but we agonise over him specificly. Why?
First off, there is the fact that he is a sylvari. Dont get me wrong, thats not a reason alone. But what can you have with a sylvari in regards to having a character that you can like? Sylvari by nature lack an important part of building a character: A past. They pop out full grown. Caithe was worked over this well enough with her conflict with Faolin, and her story with Destiny’s Edge. Sieran was just enjoyable as a character, because she was a wild one. So you either have something tragic and conflict-driven, or a goofy comic relief that dies heroicly, giving a new depth of tragedy to the not so serious character.
Trehearne on the other hand? He has no tragedy we know of whatsoever and he is not funny. Just a seemingly impossible purpose given to him by the Dream. His story? He is a loner, watching flesh rot on variously lively individuals. And he is a firstborn. 25 years old. Dont tell me nothing happened to him in that time that didnt form his character! How did he gain the respect and trust of the Orders? What happened? How did it effect him?
Lastly, the writing of the character into the personal story. We all know this one.
“Who is this guy? Why should i care for him? Oh, he makes the same arguement as me and my mentor after we saw the orrian scout. We must be soul-mates already!”
[mumbles] “Fort Trinity was my idea…”
“Sure, you be the leader of the Pact. After all, i joined an order because the script said that i must. Not that i regret it. I have…had…friends…-sobs-… WHHYYYY?”
“Hm? Ah, no, im fine now. Whats that? A decision to make? Uhm….how about we take the upper option? Yes, im sure… Wait, why do you want to come along? Just do the other thing, and we cover more ground! … Ugh… Yes, Spearmarshal…. Did i say Spearmarshal? Huh. Sorry. Marshal.”
“Seek the source.”
“Seek the source.”
“Its so obvious that king’s tomb is not the source.”
“Why am i beliving in the dream the Pale Tree showed us more than you do, firstborn?”
“You dont say! Man, why didnt I think of that?! You are right! We must seek the Source! Thank you Marshal for guiding us to the right path! Surely we would be lost without your leadership, making the hard choices and all that.”
“What do you mean you are not coming against Zhaitan? Wha-thats it? You stab your ‘prick’ into the Source of Orr, fulfill your purpose, and thats it? Orr has nothing more for you? Pull your rear out of this fort that -I- named, and get that five Flesh Golems going, on the double!… No, I am not out of line, you dont even know there is a line! I… You are just afraid of heights, aren’t you. You hate airships… Where are you running now?”
“Let him pout. We are victorious! I’m not ruining this day by…What do you mean he cant come -off- the airhsip without me holding his hands?!”

Don’t buy gems to support neither NCsoft or ArenaNet.
Buy gems for yourself and only yourself.Only if YOU think there is something worth buying on the store spend you rl cash (and not gold) for gems. And don’t spend your few leftover gems for rng kitten only because you can’t buy anytyhing worthwhile.
That way you increase the qualite of the game no matter who gets the cash from gems.
YOU CAN USE WAYPOINTS TO OTHER MAPS?! What magic is it?!
No one has made a million gold. There may have been a UI issue with displaying your gold balance. :P
How else do u think they pay all the TP representatives throughout Tyria, with Zhaitaffy and kisses? I think not!
Happens to all of us.. no market is going to be stable forever… be happy that food market lasted as ridiculously long as it had, I really figured wintersday was going to introduce food to destroy most of the over priced high tiered foods.
I have fun in it…
Its all the purpose I need on a game.
I play it because it’s fun.

Haven’t played in a while and wondering if ANet actually made WvW worth playing, i.e. WvW point progression and not the garbage they first introduced?
I play it because it’s fun.

Greetings everyone!
We’ve received lots of feedback regarding night capping. Many want to know how Arenanet views this. Our answer is that WvW was developed as a never ending continuous battle.
We feel that everyone should have the ability to contribute no matter what time of the day it is. How we’ve came to this conclusion is that no player’s time is more valuable than another. Everyone has different off peak hours for whatever reason. Players should not be punished or unable to experience and view the same content as everyone else because they play at a different time. They too are paying customers.
This is not saying that we are against any adjustment to scoring, or against developing another mechanic to improve the capping system. This is simply saying that we will not be changing WvW based on some players’ idea of off time hours.
Please use this thread as the main discussion for this topic.
Well, when you guys make a top-selling MMO, you can put your own rules in place and let everyone verbally abuse everyone else. You’re not entitled to a platform to broadcast your profanity.
Furthermore, I don’t know why people always assume the offended party didn’t have their filter on. People misspell words all the time to get around chat filters, and it’s perfectly possible to be verbally abusive without using a single filtered word.

Mine took 3 days or so to download. I sat there unmoving the whole time.
If they do ever gets swimsuits and my female Charr gets one, do you think there will be 6 bikini tops or none? Either is a possibility.
And don’t say she will get a onsie. That would be discrimination on the basis of species.
Shes a animal so she can skinny dip.
Kaaboose, every video you’ve made on GW2 has been absolutely spot on and I have a lot of respect for that.
However, your arrogantly sarcastic, kittenhead attitude is extremely abrasive. You’d garner much more respect and get many more shares if you weren’t acting like a total kittening kitten.
Cheers for the GW2 commentary, hopefully if you ever come back you’ll have calmed down and learned to respect your audience.
I just have to say that, despite being a great game overall, one of the things that GW2 has suffered from a little from the start is feeling a little too generic and ‘more of the same’. I love how this story goes for something a little different; the characters introduced are among the most interesting that have been created so far and it has a cool pulpy vibe that touches on one of my other favorite genres. I was very pleasantly surprised by that cut-scene in Divinity’s Reach!
After also being pleasantly surprised by the Southsun content last month, I am feeling more optimistic about this game than ever. I just wanted to jump on and say keep it up Anet!

This patch has restored some faith in what you are capable of as far as bringing fair fun to players. I’ll be quick about this thread, but I will include a list of all the things myself and my guild are absolutely loving about this recent patch.
— Logging in the first day of the event and seeing the mini pack there for free because we’ve spent money on gems. It shows you do actually care about us supporting you and a nice reward like that isn’t expected, but we do appreciate it and we love you more for it!
— The fact that you made two types of RNG boxes. Coffers and Rich Coffers. In the past, we’ve all hated the fact that the “cool stuff” was locked to cash shop RNG boxes. We love that you can now get just about everything by playing the game and spending time and not being FORCED to spend real money. Tons of us are college students, we appreciate this.
—The ability to salvage ecto to make dust. Dust has been a huge problem lately and the ability to salvage ecto has saved a great deal of us tons of gold that we would have otherwise needed to spend on dust. We’re aware this is just the first step in fixing the loot and drop problems, but it’s a good step towards good change.
—The holographic wings are not only tradable, but FARMABLE. Don’t want to risk your money (gold or cash) on coffers? That’s fine – just farm it out with candy. Or even better yet, buy them straight up on the TP from people who got one and don’t want one. This is great, especially since the prices are low enough to not be too far out of reach for most people.
All in all, the fact that it appears you guys are leaning away from locking cool things to RNG and making alternate avenues of acquisition to the cool items of events is a good thing. We like this, and because of this change, we like you more for it.
So please, PLEASE, bring this model to the future events. We want to put money into gems because we want to support you and get cool novelty items, not because we HAVE to in order to get cool event items.
I’ll end this hear, I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks of how the items are acquired this time around compared to previous events.
And once again, seriously, this is a step in the right direction ArenaNet. Keep doing events like this as far as RNG boxes and event items go. This is the RIGHT way to do it. Two versions of the boxes, things that aren’t account / soulbound (tickets excluded) that can be bought and sold, and things that we can actually farm towards for the duration of the event.
We look forward to more events like this in the future. Thank you.

I got the idea for this thread from several observations. The main one being my own behavior in this forum. While I am generally a very kind person, this forum as with many I have been a part of, can bring out my smart kitten side pretty quick. When I stepped back and evaluated that, I came to the conclusion that I was being overly judgmental of others that play the game.
Yes there are a lot of posts I don’t agree with or that I think are just plain ridiculous. However, in real life if I hear someone say something in public that I think is stupid I don’t get into some debate over why I think what they said was wrong. I just go about my business and often think to myself that I hope they have a better day. I don’t care for constant complaining but it really gets too much when I find myself complaining about complaints.
So reflecting on all these posts I have been involved in and, admittedly rude at times, I started thinking about the person on the other side of the screen that I can’t see. I thought about how I felt as I purchased and downloaded the game. How excited I was once the install was complete and when I first made my first character. So then I thought about this other mysterious person living in wherever and I imagined they felt the same as I at one point. I started thinking that this is a real person that wakes up everyday just like me and they want to have a good day which in many cases means enjoying the game.
The thing about the Internet, and I found this out early during the USNET years, is that since you can’t see that person you forget that they have feelings as well. It’s easy to forget that maybe they just had a bad day and an unpleasant gaming experience later in the day was kind of the final straw leading to rage posting on the boards. It’s easy to forget that when they click the login button they want to have fun also. It’s the reason for playing a game and people like to have fun.
So where am I going with this? I thought it would be a good idea to brain storm some random acts of (kindness) in game to maybe make that random person smile for a second, maybe make their day a little better.
Here are a few things I have done:
*When I see a player that is obviously new and low level running around lost, I help them for a minute. Then later on I mail them a few coins and or maybe a piece of armor they could use. I simply write “Welcome to GW2” and attach the coin/item. I imagine as a new player something like that might give them a brief smile.
*If I see a downed player in PvE I rez them and if they are not down leveled I mail them some coin with a note that says, “Thought you could use some coin to help with your repairs.”
*I shadow obvious new players and only jump in if they get in a real dicy situation then disappear and do it again for a bit.
*I’m maxed on cooking skill so when I get low level cooking mats that don’t sell for much I’ll just mail them to some random name I see in my area with a note that says,“I bet you are hungry after all your travels.”
*I haven’t done this yet but I think once a day when I see some negative posts here I’ll just send one of those people that are unhappy some small gift. Something that has been in my bank and I will never use or sell. (Disclaimer: Please don’t start posting negative threads just to have a chance at a prize.
)
Anyway, these are the main things I do but I’m looking for more and hope others will share ideas and participate. The thought isn’t to give your bank away but just some small token of (kindness) that might just make someone think, “That was nice.” even if just for a minute.
tl;dr
I’ve been rather rude here at times and I apologize. I’m really a pretty decent person in real life. I think most here on both sides of arguments are as well. The idea is fun and to some degree I am guessing when everyone logs in each day the idea is to add something pleasant to their day. So let’s help random people out with that.
Please share other ways myself and others might just send our own little “token” to random players as a way of saying in game, “Hope you are having a good day.”
P.S. (kindness) due to overly aggressive language filter.
you get a random zerg following you for a while in wvw, till they reealise you dont actually know what you are doing then they disperse
