I made (or contributed) to several posts that were moved to the general Suggestions subforum, however in mot cases they got lost there very fast, having them moved away from WvW subform ended discussion of the suggestion nearly immediately.

So i am always a bit undecided when I see a post being moved to general Suggestions.
- is this like a promotion (moderator saw it as valuable proposal)
- is this like a move to trash (move it out of the sight to end the discussion)

Now that we have several WvW sub forums how about one for
“WvW Suggestions”?

Buying 20 Slot Bags with Badges of Honor

As the title says I think you should be able to purchase 20 slot bags with badges of honor. While playing in WvW you are always on the field fighting and your bags can fill up very quickly. I don’t have the money to buy them for 12G a piece and farming fractals for the relics is very time conusming, but I do have tons of badges with nothing to spend them on. I think this would be a good addition and badge sink to the game. What does everyone think about this?

Rally is a good mechanic. It slows down the game’s pace and prevents it from being a race to instagib. It also makes Death less frustrating, since even when you get downed there are still things you can do.

The alternative would be to make everyone tankier, and that would suck for different reasons.

Personally, I’m glad that the living story isn’t focusing on the dragons right now. Setting aside RP reasons I’m glad for this (as not everyone’s an RPer), there’s another reason to be thankful for it…

ANet has shown that they need to get their heads together and find something better to do with the next part of the overall game storyline than what they did for the first dragon. Handing the starring role over to Trahearne, making the final mission a team dungeon instead of the solo mission all the others were up to that point, and having the final battle be a duck shoot?

Let them work on the Living Story, and try things out in a less important part of the world. Let them find out what works, what doesn’t, and what we think of it all. THEN they can hopefully bring that experience into play for the next part of the main storyline when they finally feel ready to do it.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

She comes out after you talk to Trahearne, and socializes a little more. On my 2nd play through she was there as well even though I never saw her on any of my missions. This time however, she was dancing so I assume she is over his death. She is strong, and can overcome anything.

Women are generally physically weaker than men as well, how about we reduce melee dmg dealt by female player characters? Let’s go for the whole 9 yards, right?

That would harm gameplay, while height difference harms nobody.

By the same token, having similar height harms nobody, while providing the benefit of letting people make the character they want to make. My wife is taller than most men, while I’m shorter than the average guy, and it’d be kind of nice to see a greater range of height variation in what we’re allowed to do with our characters. Even if you don’t consider it sexist, it is restrictive; a lot of the character customization options are based on what the developers and designers consider attractive or ideal (as much has been said outright), and that leaves something to be desired for those of us who don’t share their tastes.

Fem-i-nism: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.
lol

….Anywaaay… the character creation for Guild Wars 2 only allows you to make characters that fit Western beauty standards. AKA: Anorexic, frail-looking women with implants and men who wax & take steroids.
A woman who is taller then a man doesn’t look anorexic and frail enough to be “beautiful” by the narrow standards the GW2 devs are using for character creation. There are issues with both the female and male character models tbh… not just sexist issues, but ageism, weight discrimination, and poor anatomical proportioning as well

Shes taller than almost all of the guys she meets, and we have met even taller women than her before. Does that mean her and the tall women are not real?

We’re saying that the tallest woman is still shorter than the tallest man (see links I’ve provided), so while she might be taller than everyone in the region, she is still shorter than the tallest men.

She just asks the simple question of “Why can’t my character be as tall as guys?”
And honestly the answer “Because women are just shorter in general” didn’t sound right to her. And heck it didn’t sound right to us either.

But her character can be taller than MOST males in the game. Just like in reality. It’s realistic.

I don’t know why we’re comparing a fantasy video game with reality and what is realistic. My elementalist can shoot fireballs underwater: that doesn’t seem very realistic to me for several reasons.

I just don’t think it’s too much to ask that the height slider be exactly the same regardless of a character’s sex, that’s all.

Sometimes I Get Nervous

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hofulu.7325

GW2 has its own little niche in the MMO world. It’s nearly perfect to me: all the lore, the beauty, characters, story, gameplay everything about the game is amazing, and it is a very unique game. I cherish this uniqueness, this decision by Anet to take the road less traveled, and be different. But I have been very nervous, even since launch, because of all the people who came to GW2 looking for things that they thought were supposed to be in every MMO that they didn’t find. I’ve seen people try to rally support to make Anet “fix” what is “missing” or change what is “stupid” and/or “unnecessary,” and honestly, I hope these people find interest in other MMOs, because I don’t want them here, and neither does anyone else who came into GW2 with a fresh, clear mind, not tainted with thoughts of what an MMO is supposed to be, or what it’s supposed to have.

A response from Anet assuring me that they will continue to develop their game completely in their own, unique image, whether it be with maps, more lore, story, features, classes, skills, you name it, would make my day
You may call me crazy, and yes I’ll admit not everything a dev will do will be perfect, which is where constructive criticism is embraced. But there is a fine line between constructive criticism and someone trying to change the game to their own image, and lately, I’ve seen a lot more of the latter, which makes me very sad, and lets be honest, the latter is not what made GW2 the number one game of 2012, or what continues to make it so successful. So those people should can it, go somewhere far, far away, and let Anet work their magic, like they’ve been doing

Just my two cents for the day lol

Terminally Ill, Saying "Thank You" to GW2

Palu.3405

Hello dear members of the GW2 community,

Recently I discovered that I’m terminally ill and I’m not sure how long I have left so I felt compelled to say “thank you” to all the fantastic members of the GW2 community for almost a year of amazing gameplay unlike anything else I’ve experienced in all the MMOs I’ve ever played. I’m sure most of you probably don’t recognize me and probably don’t care about this post, but between Fractals, other dungeons, and WvW roaming, I can say with confidence that I’ve never enjoyed a game as much as GW2. If you’ve played on or against Maguuma in WvW, you’ve probably seen me at some point. I’m the one Sylvari condition Mesmer in Nightmare armor who, since launch, has refused to play anything but a condition Mesmer. I want to extend a special thanks to the WvW community, since that’s where I’ve spent most of my time in-game. I’ve always been a roamer, so whether I’ve killed you, you’ve killed me, or we’ve fought alongside one another, thank you for a fantastic PvP experience. I’ve repped either <removed by moderator> the entire time I’ve been in WvW (do note that there are multiple guilds with those abbreviations) and have always been on Maguuma.

While I’ll probably still play from time to time, I’m spending most of my time with irl friends and family. All I want to do here is say thank you and ask for the community’s solidarity in this difficult time.

I posted a similar thread on the GW2 Reddit with more details about my condition and why I’m leaving, so if you’d like to know more you can PM me or read the thread on Reddit.

EDIT: The Reddit link apparently doesn’t work, here’s the Reddit post in a word document.

GW2 unlikely to get expansions [Interview]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If they do this right, it will be pure win imho. I always disliked how expansions worked for MMO. All of a sudden you would get 15+ new zones, dungeones, etc… ad because of that, zones in before expansion will be left to die for a period of time.
If they can do this, it will add sandbox element to the game, just like EvE, which I think is awesome.

And best thing I read in that interview, is that living world team will have 3-4 motnhs to make new content compared to 6-8 weeks they had untill now is quite reassuring.

I literally LOL at anyone who says how you act in a game towards people you don’t even know at that( not own server or guild mates) reflects a persons character is a completely ridiculous accusation…also please continue with the tears they go well with my koi cakes

Sociopath:

Sociopaths are incapable of feeling shame, guilt or remorse. Their brains simply lack the circuitry to process such emotions. This allows them to betray people, threaten people or harm people without giving it a second thought. They pursue any action that serves their own self interest even if it seriously harms others. This is why you will find many very “successful” sociopaths in high levels of government, in any nation.

Sociopaths seek to dominate others and “win” at all costs. They hate to lose any argument or fight and will viciously defend their web of lies, even to the point of logical absurdity.

Sociopaths never apologize. They are never wrong. They never feel guilt. They can never apologize. Even if shown proof that they were wrong, they will refuse to apologize and instead go on the attack.

Might get yourself checked, bro. If you don’t have a morsel of morality for anons, it’s not everyone else that is wrong, it’s you.

+1

The sad/funny thing is these people are completely unable to realise that they have a problem, as many posts in this forum have shown.

I’d just like to give ArenaNet some well deserved positive feedback.

I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since the beginning and in that time seen how some players have embraced its take on MMOs while others have found the lack of some conventional features (trinity etc) somewhat disconcerting.

For me personally I adore this game, the gorgeous and detailed environments, the love and design that’s gone into every corner, the expertly crafted jumping puzzles that in themselves are worth playing the game for. The fact I have five maxed out level eighty characters might tell you how I just love to run through Tyria doing whatever takes me fancy.

When I look back and count all the additional content we’ve been given (for free!) it’s staggering. I was especially impressed with the quality and size of Christmas, Halloween and Southsun. On top of this we’ve had new dungeons, fractals, Superbox, the living story and much more. Then ArenaNet decided (rightly so) to get their house in order and it went quiet. Many of my friends sounded off with ‘bored and nothing to do’ and left the game. I’m now seeing many coming back after hearing good things.

The living story did start really slow in my opinion and so some people may have been jaded by this but Im really happy to see its now taking off and getting huge support from the community. It’s natural to want people to love the game you love but I couldn’t disagree with many when we started this and it had the ‘is that it’ feeling.

This latest chapter with the Aether Pirates is just fantastic, it’s challenging, well designed and most of all, lots of fun. I spent hours in the jumping puzzle last night pulling my hair out! The guys who made a zeppelin, hidden in a holographic mountain I take my hat off to you.

It’s almost a sigh of relief, your now pushing your player base with content that is really making them sit up and pay attention. In addition we have a lot more to come, your reworking of rewards in the wings (finally!) and a commitment to adding new content every two weeks is very encouraging.

So yes, I’d like to say a big thankyou and congratulations to ArenaNet for sticking to your guns, providing an almost impossible amount of additional content and listening/acting to the feedback from the community.

I hope your all getting the holidays and down time you deserve!

so kill her to shut her up. That is what you are suppose to do in this game. Finish the DEs

Unfortunately many of these events are group events. For example, in Timberline Falls, with the Krait Witch in the middle of the lake — it can be difficult to find a group willing to do the content.

And that’s also assuming that I want to interrupt whatever it is that I’m currently working on (hearts, usually) to go half way across the map to finish some event. The range of the NPC speech is ridiculously large and repeated far too often.

I do simply turn off the dialogue volume, but it’s only a mediocre solution for a poor design.

How is it unfortunate? Are you incapable of forming a group?

Yeah, actually, that’s the point I was making. This is the “it can be difficult to find a group willing to do the content” part of my post. Not sure how you missed that part, I didn’t write a wall of text.

The event in Caledon Forest is similar. I’ve seen the event up for quite a while before a group formed to do the content.
