Yes. It will take a lot of time. If you lose focus over 4 months then likely the game mode isn’t for you.

If you can’t play often enough to get the max tickets each week, then it takes longer.

A lot of people who have prioritized WvW as their primary game mode see no problem with the wait. We have waited for years for something… anything from WvW. We even note that we play because we enjoy the game mode. We don’t play for the agonies. (Meant shinies but had to leave the other word because reasons)

I have made 4 ascended back pieces which is most of what I need for WvW depending on my build, and I was able to do that from the tracks. Which took me about 6 months of playing WvW. Could have farmed the mats in the maps faster, but again, I made it by playing my favorite game mode.

If the game mode isn’t for you, then forget the shiny. If it’s what you really want, you’ll play the mode.

And yes, it takes a while

I feel like WvW Vets already know we are in for the long haul for the shinies and PVE players just don’t seem to understand the actual grind. Yeah it sucks for us Vets as much as it does for you folks coming in. The difference is we who have played this game mode for a long time are used to getting zero to no rewards so this system is fine, we will get it eventually.

Expecting to leap into a well established game mode and reap all the benefits in a “Reasonable Time Frame” is ludicrous to us and should be to you as well.

Its officially called the fair weather effect. last week you had an easier match so people came out to play, this week things are a little harder so people that want to k-train are not playing. People that enjoy the game mode will be out there regardless.

Alternative: set your options to use team colors.

I don’t mean for identification purposes during fights.

I just think it would be a neat addition if the color of the banners on the item changed to represent your server’s current color in that week’s matchup. (both inside and outside of the WvW maps)

Interesting idea, but so many fashion meta players would not be happy. Making backpieces dyeable instead would work and make everyone happy.

Underwater content doesn’t seem to be a priority. We will probably have to wait until we have to kill an underwater dragon or a kraken.

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

You can’t beat a good thief 1v1 as a necro, you can only fend him off. After enough times you’ll eventually be out of life-force and he’ll kill you. All you can really do is hold on and make him waste as much of his time trying to take you down as possible, since he should be out +1’ing and decapping.

But really, you shouldn’t be the one out there by yourself as a necro anyways… You need to be following the team fight as much as possible to stop their ele’s/druids/scrappers.

As for Vanilla necro vs thief, I can’t imagine how that would be better 1v1. No stability = unhappy necro.

Run up a jumping puzzle so the thief can’t teleport to you, stow your weapons so his headshots don’t do anything. The thief will at that point either leave or he will stay and wait, if he waits just stay up the puzzle till a ally comes, holding a thief at one point is winning enough.

Don’t actually try to engage the thief he will always win. Unless the thief does something stupid then by all means take advantage of his stupidity.

I am 150% with the thread creator. The nights in GW2 are way too bright. If the colour temperature would not be forced to cold and the ambient sound would not change, I could not tell the difference.

In WoW they had a patch a couple of months ago (actually it was just an announcement I read on a MMO website) they want to make nights darker. I also think so.

In general, this can be done so easily by changing gamma a bit and/or add constrat in general. Since this game has sepia, warm, cold and low-saturation colour modes layered on top of the default ingame graphics (that’s why healthbar suddenly change colours when entering a sand storm etc.) I don’t see the big problem there. As a big and long-time fan of classic MS-DOS DooM, I also created many, many maps for it. And even if you set brigthness to 0, you still have an eerie, low light “aura” around you. Just add this aura around the player character(s), too, but not as if they are glowing, just your personal vision. So in the distance, you can see a dark forest and the top of the trees instead of something that looks like 7:00 on a cloudy day..

Also, GW2 has many “random” light sources where no torches are or in caves. Just toggle those to zero or down by 70% or whatever, so dark corners are eventually dark corners..

Bright blue full-moon sceneries are NOT night, also they don’t last long compared to daytimes…

Generally speaking I dislike massive maps with little going on. Lornar’s Pass is the worst offender, and Plains of Ashford and Straits of Devastation fall into a similar category. Tangled Depths is just a labyrinth beyond anything else in-game and even after tons of experience with the map I still get turned around. Lastly, I dislike Dry Top because it requires following strange paths (that followed the historic LW season 1 story) to get to new areas.

Agree with the general sentiment that the whole system is broken. We currently have an arms race between cleanse and condi spam.

DoT (in most games) is something that builds up .. “oT”, Over Time. The longer the fight goes, the more advantage a DoT player has.

GW2 has so much cleanse that this can never work. Condi builds only work if they have spammable stacks of high-damage condi. Other builds only work if they have boatloads of condi cleanse and/or long-lasting resistance.

IMO, the only way forward is to tear it all down and admit that it’s broken. Tone down cleanse to a normal level (say, current Revenant amount of cleanse). Remove cleanse from traits, sigils, etc. Put it on heal skills and maybe a few other support skills.

NOW tone down condi stacking so that it’s DoT not burst. No more 12x confusion stacks. No more 30-bleed-in-2-seconds. No more poison spam.

I assume you are a staff ele? You didn’t mention. I also assume WvW.

It’s easy to slam 20k burst on a squishy ele, even for a marauder thief. Thieves unfortunately prey on squishy eles, however you do have a few options. This is what squishy eles do when I jump them.

a.) Run the Arcane Shield utility/trait that blocks damage for a few hits. That should make you survive a bit longer, enough to blink away.

b.) Pop mist form and escape into the nearest tower/keep.

c.) Don’t leave the tower/keep wall. Use /wave /dance /laugh to taunt the thief. Slam 5k meteor showers ticks on the thief as he tries to scorpion wire you off the wall.

Having mained pvp and roaming wvw since release, i am sad to say i no longer play pvp, i havnt for a good 5 months now, i got a few legendary titles and even hit top 10 eu at one point, but with all the removal of sigils, and nerfing of everything that made it fun, i just dont enjoy it anymore.
WVW is also slowly being ruined by the sheer ammount of skilless condi spammage. Blocks are completely useless with the thief elite unblockable and necro unblockable staffs. And when these attacks not only go through block but add 3+ conditions it really forces you to play certain things, which i dont enjoy.
I love playing full berserker revenant which only has staff for clenses along with 1 clense on legend swap if you run that line, and sigil options.
Feel forced to play druid, or somthing which i deem less skilled to play.

Have you ever tried playing a thief? I think you’ll be singing a different tune after you realize how “op” the class is under the hands of an ordinary person against most of the meta lineup.

The average Necro has trouble against Thieves. This fact doesn’t make Thief overpowered, and it certainly doesn’t mean thief trumps every other class.

I didn’t say it trumps every other class. I didn’t say it was op either. I said Anet favors the class and that necro’s can’t even use any of their skills against a thief. Thats actually kittened up game design. No pvp game should one class just auto win vs another.

Like if you’re a necro and get caught out against a thief, you cant outrun it. Let go of your mouse and your keybard and let the rock beat scissors. No skill involved. One class just beats the other. Its purposefully made that way.

Thats literally all they are. They kill you. In like 4 seconds you’re dead unless you’re a guard.

This game and its love for the assassin- i mean thief.
So funny how everything on a necro is useless against a theif. Nothing a necro has can even reach the thief when he disengages to recover initiative.

Play Necro like a walking bomb. Get in the middle of everything. Deal massive aoe damage. Make sure when you go down, you’ve taken a few with you.

I cant believe im the only one who isnt perfect mechanically and perfect at rotations….. since all these people must be playing like a pro and still losing. Otherwise the problem lies with player not the game.

A necro playing perfectly is still worse than other classes playing perfectly. Necromancer has no tools to work with, which makes it a crap class for anything other than full 5s.
