Best meta for me was the launch Zerker meta and the meta before Dhuumfire was introduced. Those were the days, I liked the old trait system too (you can mix trait & every trait point has a +50 on a specific stat)

When Celestial meta came, it went a lil bit downhill. Then came Pre HoT, (new ugly trait system, removed the + stats with a lot of changes and trait placement change that put a big hurt on some profession) Now, post HoT, cancer. Cancer everywhere.

I personally liked the meta during summer 2014 the most (when hambow/bunker guard were meta). There was a lot more to gain from actively reacting to things and less of this passive nonsense. Only things that needed to change were turrets (can receive condi and crits) and a slight reduction on fire/air sigils (which we’ve had since then).

Go look at the last Post Sunfish made and tell me that this is not pathetic? Even in Emerald I get an average 10-15 minute que. Anet refuses to let us que outside of the mists and refuses to add a solo que option, it amazes me how this expansion is progressively getting worse and worse as the days go by, at least for pvps sake.

Like many other guys say with a good analysis, this meta is embarrassing for how much brainless and op stuff there are around.

So you have 2 options:
1) buff warrior and thief (but really really careful to buff too much the thief cuz their insane mobility and conquest imbalance consequences).

2) nerf everything else

Nerf only one or two professions is not an option.

Just to clarify I’m not complaining about meta.

But people who think the class they play is fine and the other are op (warrior and thief exceptions) is simply not true.

in my personal opinion the quality of the current meta is a catastrophe. i would rather play in the old condi dhuumfire meta than what we currently have. most builds are beyond broken and quickness is out of hand…

lately the balance has the tendecy to get worse and worse and we get more gimmick than ever. almost every build on each class is an abomination that makes everything that was ever deemed op look pale. i hope that arenanet will be able to completely change the meta for the next season or it will not be fun for the major part of the players.. and i’m not even talking about the league system here.

we have the druid with the 2 broken pets that overshadow every other ranger pet, dealing an incredible amount of damage while the druid can kite you if he decides to do so, daze you for a funny long time and slow you if he feels like it; while healing himself to full. for most classes it’s close to impossible to win a 1v1 vs a druid.

dragonhunter; the most likely strongest marauder build ever seen in pvp; and most likely the easiest too. while it sees not much play in the pro league it is by no means not broken.. it has very high damage with very good survivability…

tempest; a generally bad designed elite specialisation that plays the healbot in the current meta, advertised as “something new” while still doing the same thing as ever. nightmare of everything that uses condi and is not a viper revenant.

revenant; the class you don’t really wanna meet although your enemy runs at least two of them. first people thought there couldn’t be anything more annoying than a glint/shiro revenant, but hey that’s when they still didn’t know the viper revenant. while one can still be held in check, two of them are your worst nightmare. condi revenant vs condi revenant is by far the worst mirror fight i have ever fought in guild wars 2. let’s not forget infuse light, the trait that renders downed cleave completely useless. seriously, what were you thinking? a revenant can res faster than you could ever stomp.

scrapper; the thing that doesn’t feel like it’s a marauder although it is one, and you can feel it. while it doesn’t have much burst it does have good sustained damage and incredible survivability even with a squishy amulet. it’s also the build with the most failsaves in form of the auto elixir proc and the stealth gyro that is on a way too short cooldown.

berserker; while it can have quite good damage, be it direct or be it burning condi damage, it gets more or less countered and outsustained by everything.

daredevil; they can be quite annoying, especially the ones bouncing around with a staff, critting you for 5-7k. compared to everything else they are still relatively balanced and most of the time just die from random aoe stuff.

reaper; i remember back in the days when necros got dhuumfire and got nerfed to a pile of some gross stuff because of it. that’s a thing of the past though because now they have chill that hits just as hard with about 4x the uptime. while they are relatively squishy in teamfights and easily picked out they can also be easily sustained by some builds… reapers don’t like resistance.. so you just bring boon corrupting friends – and then it will hurt.

support chronomancer; in my opinion the most broken support spec in the game. it’s not even the fact that it has a crazy survivability but it’s close to impossible to stomp an enemy when they go down. you can’t cleave because of the distortion well, you can’t stomp because the mesmer has quickness and the on point support is so good that it brings all the tiny, fluffy kittens to a whole new level.

the bunkers in this meta are disgusting and so are the dps. i currently play a viper revenant and while i am guilty of playing it i can honestly say that i hate this meta

arenanet, make me happy and bring “normal” supports like bunker guards and “normal” dps like spellcaster nukers back into the game. nerf the broken stuff. while it’s disappointing that not all the classes have a place in the meta, i can understand that it’s sometimes hard to make everything viable.

Considering the DD is acrobatics only… better. Merge it with acro and make a new elite spec. There’s still time, and it is what Anet should do.

Keep in mind I am not saying DD is bad per se, I am saying that we already had it, just a less cool more functional version of it.

Let’s use this thread as the main place for feedback, if possible. Please keep it constructive! We’ll be able to make a few changes between now and Heart of Thorns launch, but they will likely be smaller. We’ve already got some in testing, but I’ll talk about those a bit later.
So, if you’ve got feedback, send it on in! Animations are in-progress, you’ll notice that we’ve got a few stubs in for the dodge abilities. note: This isn’t all of the animations we’re working on, but further feedback on animations at this point (we’ve been locked down for quite a while) won’t be very useful. We’ll be looking at making smaller adjustments as time fades, so feedback in that area is definitely easier to action.

Animation update: All dodge animations are in the process of being iterated on. With that being said, in the next Beta weekend each custom dodge ability has had its animation replaced with what is called a ‘stub’, or a placeholder.
These stubs aren’t necessarily what the final animation will look like and may not even resemble the final product remotely (Huge disclaimer: Everything’s subject to change). However, we needed to replace the previously existing animations due to issues that couldn’t be resolved otherwise (i.e. Lag).

We are looking forward to the new functionality, but there’s a few pains that we’re getting through. During the next beta weekend, you’ll find that the Leap combo finisher for Bounding Dodger only works if you land inside a field. This is not intended and we’re already working on the fix for it (it’s in testing now). For now, it’s going to be trickier to get your leap finisher from Black Powder. There’s also a bug in the skill facts that indicate that it delivers a blast finisher, but it in fact a leap and will remain as such.

Other stuff:
As I talked about last update, Channeled Vigor’s now being tested as a 0.75 second cast (down from 2.25 seconds). We’re also toying with the endurance/healing values. The role of this heal is shaping more toward being high spike healing for the thief.

I sincerely appreciate the hard work!

My only concern now is the running animation.

Atm it looks like we’re holding something heavy, like a Hammer when running in combat-mode.

I honestly believe (and so do many others in this thread) the running animation should change, making it look like we’re holding something more light, as a Staff.

Running forward while holding our staff back with one hand is a typical Staff Martial Arts run and would love to see something like that.

I think I know what happened here.

OP uses an ele expecting the profession to carry him to success. It didn’t quite to that for him and it certainly didn’t make him a PvP god so he thinks it’s balanced. Does that sound about right?

Still waiting to see any justification for the state of mesmers atm when they fill exact same role (+1) which apprently requires you to lose any capability to 1v1 yet mesmers are not affected by that trade off.

But, i see plenty of class discrimination by players that don’t use the thief class. What did it teach me? Apparently we should go to sections of classes that don’t perform so well and tell them they are “fine” and they should “l2p”. We reached the new level of toxicity and player harassment.
Worst part we actually have devs repeating same crap about +1 as some kind of mantra when they talk about thieves on POI yet don’t even dare to mention it when the discussion is about ANY OTHER CLASS in game.
Add to that the so called patch notes with changes to thieves that were NEVER implemented, total joke of an elite spec. I honestly can’t shake off a feeling that we are not wanted here and getting discriminated from all sides.

- You go in match, oh look 2 thieves on team: 99% of the time team will ask one of the thieves to switch. You don’t do it? You get verbally harassed, garanteed.
- You actually engage 1v1 even vs possibly bad player: 70% of the time someone on your team will harass you about it.
- You actually managed to beat someone or helped your teammates or rezzed someone: 50% garanteed someone will complain that you went to this point or enemy will spit toxic crap at you.
- You look at thief POI: dev responsible for thieves doesn’t know the traits, tells us with excitement how thieves are really really strong because they can +1 etc.
- You look at patch notes: hey guize we gonna nerf withdraw CD but it will receive tiny healing buff JK, almost 3 months later withdraw still didn’t get the healing buff. Oh and while we are at it, enjoy the backstab bug because we didn’t bother to log on thief EVEN ONCE.

I am pulling here some outworldly juking stunts to land measy 3k backstab… meanwhile other classes…………………………… yeah. “Fine” guize.

GW2 F2P? Game Modes Please!

This is another good decision by Anet! F2P will bring many new players to try out the awesome combat in this game! But if you want these players to stay, there needs to be more game modes than just conquest and stronghold! What is the point of having great combat if there’s nothing to play! And with the influx of new players, Justin O’Dell’s lame excuse of “fragmenting the existing playerbase” no longer becomes an issue!

Obviously the first game mode to add is 3v3 arena! 3v3 arenas always attract the most competitive and hardcore PvP players, which is definitely what GW2 desperately needs to reignite the tiny, stagnant competitive scene that we have right now! Plus 3v3 arenas are extremely popular, and an actual competitive MMO game type where you don’t have to grind for months for gear? It would be a smash hit!

And then you have the other contenders! CTF is extremely popular but I can’t see how it would work with Anet’s terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible decision to implement immob stacking! Hey that guy took our flag! Let’s just immobilize him forever! Assault/Defend could be a 15v15 WvW castle fight! This game mode was really popular in Tera! 15v15 queues would take 2 minutes compared to the 15 minute 5v5 queues here in GW2! (lol) And it would be popular with the WvW crowd as it takes the fun part of WvW while throwing away the extremely boring parts! Like running! Running for hours!

I’m also not saying to get rid of conquest! Obviously a dedicated few people enjoy conquest! But it would be a real shame if GW2 finally gets some new players only for them to quit soon after because there’s not enough content! And I know Grouch did an esports speech that one Anet dev where he compared GW2’s conquest to LoL’s Summoner’s Rift and how they only have and need one game mode! First they don’t have just one game mode! They have many! More than GW2! And their one competitive map is a decade long tried and true player tested and approved game mode that’s loved by all! GW2, on the other hand, can only muster up a tiny, laughable speck in the esports scene that’s ridiculed every time it’s brought up in other games! Thanks conquest!

Please don’t make this mistake Anet! More game modes please! Wahoo! Bye frands!
