General Skills

-Confusion and retaliation split for PvE/sPvP/WvWvW
-Retaliation damage will now show on the UI similar to how confusion works, devs want retaliation to be more short and bursty than a long uptime buff. Say fields are a reason for the high uptime.
-Passive signet stat increase cap changed to 180 from 90. Some actives will be changed.
-Happy with haste changes. Negative haste effects are reduced, duration increased slightly. Want to slow down the pace of the game.

Warrior
-Want the warrior to focus on either CC or damage, and have team mates cover the option they do not choose.
-New trait: Dogged March. Replaces Turtle’s Defense. Reduces cripple, immobilize, and chill durations by 33%, and gives a small amount of regeneration when hit by these conditions.
-New trait: Burst Mastery. Combines both grandmaster Discipline traits. Reduces burst skill recharge and adrenaline used.
-New trait: Discharge of the Empowered. Grandmaster Discipline. Increases damage to target by 3% for each unique boon on them.
-Signet of Might’s active now causes the next 3 attacks to be unblockable.

Thief
-Want the thief to be more survivable and versatile.
-Reducing their overall burst, but still wants them to be the best burst class.
-In the future, may increase base damage slightly so thieves can trait a bit more defensive
-Wants to increase thief mobility. Possibly cause steal to work as shadow step if nothing is targeted.
-Some traits may be compressed together in the future.
-Mug can no longer crit, but also heals for 2000 + healing power.
-Flanking Strike has improved animation that better tracks the target, now costs 3 initiative
-Larcenous Strike added as a follow up to Flanking Strike. If it lands, this hit will steal one boon from the target. Costs 1 initiative. May consider traits in the future to share this boon with the team.

Ranger
-All pets have increased vitality and toughness.
-Pet F2 abilities now have much faster activation times, and pet AI has been improved
-May consider making other pet abilities controllable as an option in the future, but don’t want to overwhelm new players
-Pet leash range may be decreased in the future.
-Spirit health increased
-Spiritual Knowledge trait now gives spirits a total 70% chance to proc

Elementalist
-Want to bring down cantrip Ele without affecting lesser used builds
-May buff staff in future patch
-Mist Form: Can no longer use utilities and heals while active
-Ride the Lightning: Now a 40s recharge if nothing is hit, 20s recharge if target is hit
-Signet of Restoration: Passive heal slightly reduced
-Cleansing Waters: Now removes 1 condition with a 5s CD
-Swirling Winds no longer blocks trebuchet shots
-Glyph of Storms air and earth durations slightly increased

Engineer
-Want to diversify builds
-Grenades may be slightly reduced in future patch.
-Bombs, turrets, and gadgets may be buffed in future patch.
-Healing Turret: Initial heal reduced, overcharge and passive heal increased. Overcharge now drops a water field, cures conditions, and has a 20s recharge.
-Incendiary Powder: 4s of burning every 10s with a 100% chance.
-Elixir S: Can no longer use utilities and heals while active

Greetings WvW players!

We’ve been working hard at finding a solution to the problem of setting up separate reset times for the European and North American regions and I’m happy to say we’ve accomplished it! Starting next matchup and going forward the North American WvW matchup will reset Friday at 9:00 PM EST, which is 01:00 UTC Saturday, and the European matchup will reset at 18:00 UTC. It’s our hope that this will make for a better experience for everyone.

We’ve had to deal with this for 8 months, we don’t have a ‘major community event full of thrillz and excitement’, we have a caffeine-driven, groggy, wearying journey of perseverance and who falls asleep at their keyboard first. Not to mention my stomach’s rumbling the entire time – need moar noodles – don’t have time to go get food whilst leading; making everyone wait 5 minutes so you can go get food isn’t exactly a nice thing to do when they’ve stayed up ’til all hours in the morning to attend the event.

NA dudes, I know this sucks for you, it sucked for every EU player who wanted to get a decent night’s sleep each week, and for every EU player who doesn’t want to wake on Saturday feeling like a pile of kitten (which btw we do, trust me, I’ve done it) and for every EU player who can’t stay up until 5am in the morning due to irl constraints.

Can’t you guys deal with it for like one week, then you can shaft us again and we’ll continue bearing the burden for you like we’ve been doing for 8 months? I just want to sleep for once without feeling like I’m betraying my server/guildies…

You EU players certainly have my sympathy, you probably now have it from most of the other NA players .. It seems most of us never even knew of your plight with reset night. I mean, you are a seperate set of servers, we can’t guest there, and personally, I thought you were just like us.

I was under the assumption that if I decided to play on your servers, your reset would be at least 5 hours before the one I was used to because of the time difference, so instead of 7 or 8pm eastern, it would be at 2 or 3pm GMT.

Obviously I don’t read enough.. and tend to make assumptions based on what seems most logical. :P

I truly am sorry you guys have had to deal with this sort of thing for 8mos and that it’s taken this long to get any sort of solution that was at least somewhat beneficial for all of you. I honestly had no idea, I mean, there was no reason for me to even look at the goings on with EU servers seeing I didn’t and couldn’t play on them.

This doesn’t mean that I agree with what Anets done, with many of us already looking at other games because it took so long to fix WvW, the taking away of the one thing that kept us playing, the Friday night reset event, is sort of the nail in the coffin for many of us as far as GW2 goes.

We’ve lost many dedicated players in the past because of things not being fixed, causing WvW to lose it’s appeal to many. Recently it’s been so much better, we’ve even had PvE’ers who never WvW joining us on Friday nights as they began to discover how much fun WvW could be… and then Anet does this..

I’m sure people will adjust. For the EU players, I am glad that you’ve finally gotten Anet to listen, but for many of us NA players, I can’t help but be quite sad really. Our one big server wide event destroyed as so many will be unable to attend now.

Playing with them is what made it such a big deal, so much fun, and is the one thing that kept a lot of us in WvW and playing GW2 at all. Sure, many will still play regardless, but sadly, there will be many who will not.

This time change just shows how little Anet understands about the community we have on our servers, how important the players are to one another, and unfortunately, shows their lack of concern for us altogether, as they continually do things which cause us to be so disgruntled.

WvW being broken for MONTHS.. many people left after being so fed up.
EU? 8 Months of having a totally ridiculous reset time!??!
And now this fix — taking away reset night for a good portion of people on NA servers.

What I’m hearing from all you US players is that if you’re not there to get in in time you all have to queue up and can’t play reset.
And if you were working or at school or something similar you couldn’t get on in time.
So basically the maps will still be full, same amount of people who weren’t able to play before because of queues won’t be able to play now, it’s just some other players.
IN FACT since the reset is earlier, the blitz will happen earlier the big influx always dies down and certain people will leave and some people will actually be able to log in. Instead of it putting you in a disadvantage it might give you a positive effect instead.

Meanwhile this change is just GREAT for Europe. Thank you!

And thank you NA players on proving on how much more NA whines than EU.

Remove the Score - Make WvW Interesting Again

We are not going to remove the score. What we are going to try and do is find a way to make the score relevant throughout a match, but it is not an easy solution.

I have something you should seriously consider Devon:

Bring back the orbs of power.

Here’s the difference though: while the orb of power is
held, points are granted to the owning server proportional to how well it is doing against the other two servers. Obviously it’d be balanced so that you gain less points (down to a minimum) if you’re already stomping the opposition, but being able to at least keep and hold the orb would make it possible for even the most downtrodden server to make a come back, at least, that’s how I envision it.

Effort required to implement: Low, probably. Most of the time would just be balancing how many points are given per tick.

Problems: If it’s the case that server A has no towers, no camps, nothing, servers B and C can simply zerg into the altar of power in order to block the capture.

Solutions: Remove the feature wherein the orb of power makes the carrier visible to everyone on the map. Instead, have a large, very flashy beam of light or something such to indicate the presence of the orb when it is not being held. This way when it is taken, anyone paying attention will realise, however they won’t know exactly where it is.

This does a few things: Makes scouts and defenders more important and also makes it possible for a determined group of players to win against simple zerging.

Lastly, I’d recommend adding swiftness as an orb effect (that refreshes constantly), making the wielder immune to immobilize (not cripple) and massively increasing the toughness (not health) of the wielder. The degen from holding the orb can be kept.

Solo burst players will already be enough of a problem without having to worry about getting perma-immobilize, etc.

Feasible? Thoughts?

it was from the get go meant to be played seasonally with a world champions declared and since I dont see anyone even close to the medal count jq has why not do it now and as far as matchups all I see are blowouts aside from the bandaid fux un t7.

Newsflash: there’s world beyond NA.

According to your medals from http://mos.millenium.org/matchups/histories actually Vizunah Square is better than Jade Quarry. Yet… they were dethroned by SFR, to a degree. JQ may still be overthrown.

@down: i love how players talk about global stuff of the game, like weekly WvW resets or resetting the whole ladder, based solely on their database’s current situation. Somehow it happens much more often with the NA players.

I guess it comes from the centuries of kicking the crowns butt both militarily and economically then bailing you out in 2 world wars then defending western europe from the USSR for decades while western europe socialized all the while never once being thanked kind of like an ungrateful wife or grlfriend so please forgive us yanks of our arrogance but its not unfounded.

Back on subject. Presumed everyone concerned would understand there would be 2 champions hence the plural in champions and knowing there were eu and na brackets.

WWII? America did not fight alone. Are you aware of that? The military personnel contributing in WWII included countries from all over the world. If you stack up the numbers Russia contributed more guts and blood in WWII than anyone else.

After WWII America attempted pre-eminence and threatened much of the world with war and invasion. They did not support Europe militarily by themselves. That duty was shared equally by multiple countries. America was not capable of doing it alone.

European countries certainly did socialize their political policies successfully. How much does health care cost in European countries? How much does a college education cost in a European country? I just want to take a moment to say thanks. The amount of communication you have with the WvW community is inspiring and I assure you we are ALL grateful. It’s pretty rare to see a member of the development team spend so much time working with us and tackling issues of all sizes. I am extremely excited to see how WvW changes in the months to come.
