[coVn] Witches I Chaotic Good
Fort Aspenwood
So if they removed the stat buffs and kept the capture points so that they still allowed you to capture 3 of them to get points per kill, would that be alright for all you guys who have problems with it?
I think the 3 points per kill introduces some really toxic incentives into the game. For example, if you are outmanned on a map, it no longer makes sense to have a skeleton crew there to cause some havoc and force the enemy to keep their team there – because getting killed while trying for objectives now feeds the enemy team points. A 5 man havoc squad getting caught and wiped at a tower might feed the enemy team as many points as you would have gotten stealing the tower in the first place.
The points on stomp punish risky play hard; they act as a strong incentive to not try when you are outmanned and any aggressive play has a good chance of you getting caught and killed. Tactical wiping is now extremely punishing, and engaging a bigger army than the one you have is sabotaging your team.
Basically, if you don’t own bloodlust, you should really be playing super passively – and that is not at all healthy for the game.
I think the points on stomp are a much bigger deal than the stats – and the stats are pretty comically stupid.
Quoting this well thought out post.
Put it simply for a possible suggestion, getting stomped with an Outmanned buff should not award bloodlust points to the team that stomped you.
The thing is… 150 stat points is, in most cases, insignificant. Assuming you have all the buffs at all times (which has been exceedingly rare so far), you’ll be maybe 5% stronger than your opponent, give or take.
35%. Three orbs is roughly a 35% increase in strength.
Don’t throw around small numbers if you haven’t even tried to do basic math yet.
What? If I have 2,000 power, a 150 point increase is 7.5%. If I have 25,000 health, a 1,500 point increase is 6%. Even if you’re giving every stat the same weight (which is silly), it’s still way less than 35%. For a character with base stats (meaning 3,664 total), the 900 point bonus from the orbs would only come to a 24.5% increase.
I find it amusing that the game is suddenly shattered for so many over something as insignificant as a 0-150 point increase in stats. I simply can’t believe that people who honestly and legitimately enjoyed the game prior to the buff are unable to logically enjoy it now. It seems far more likely that they’re simply being disingenuous, for effect.
“Insignificant” is not what I would call 4 ascended trinkets’ worth of stats.
Take the inverse of Bloodlust; if the other realms could get a bonus which, upon getting it, would let them go “nope, you’re not allowed to equip any accessories”, would that shed any light on it for you then? Can you understand why they might think that completely invalidates WvW? Because that is 2/3rds of what this system does. It’s even worse than everything else that imbalances WvW because you can’t both have those orb bonuses at the same time; if someone else is eating, you can eat too. If someone else has stacked Guard Killer, you can stack Guard Killer. If you’re outmanned and you want to roam for some fun fights? Enjoy your (even more) uphill battle.
There is a significant difference between a minor, blanket increase in stats and forbidding an enemy from equipping accessories altogether. I understand the spirit of what you meant, but that is a ridiculously silly comparison to make.
The thing is… 150 stat points is, in most cases, insignificant. Assuming you have all the buffs at all times (which has been exceedingly rare so far), you’ll be maybe 5% stronger than your opponent, give or take. If you die to a thief in two backstabs without the buff, you’ll still die in two backstabs. If you kill someone in ten hits without the buff, you might kill them in nine with the buff. In the vast majority of cases, people aren’t winning or losing fights by the margin provided with bloodlust, and that is why it’s insignificant. People just want an excuse for losing.
Regardless of that… So many people in WvW don’t use food or other such bonuses, despite the fact that they can. Plenty still run around in rares or exotics, when others are using ascended. When you encountered such a person prior to this week’s patch, did it completely ruin the game for you? Did you avoid the fight? Did you think “this game sucks, I should quit”? If people never reacted with outrage to those situations, I can’t exactly take it seriously when they scream about this one, considering it’s virtually the same issue.
If you find WvW so incredibly unacceptable in its current state that you’re willing to quit en masse, then maybe GW2 just isn’t the game for you? Play the game for what it is right now, not for what you fantasize about it being in the future.
It was the game for them two days ago, and apparently it was the game for 99% of this forum two days ago. It was the game for a not insignificant portion of the WvW-playing playerbase two days ago, as well. If GW2 was never a game that they enjoyed, then maybe I’d agree with you, but that’s not the case.
The more servers that use this meta to generate points the more servers will adapt to counter it, I.E. Alt + F4 will rapidly become common practice to deprive the point generation.
This is a very very very negative thing.
Why do we not have verification on this information? As in, why would Anet not spell out how points are earned?
It seems to me like it makes all the sense in the world for players to learn how to score points and develop a strategy around that. After all, this is supposed to be at least a semi-competitive game mode.
You get 3 points for killing an enemy yak while it is walking on it’s supply route.
You get 3 points when one of your yaks completes it’s route.
You get 1 point for taking a sentry.
I read the first post and anticipate a lively discussion on the new point meta and how roamers will earn more ppt. I get a long discussion about yaks….what the kitten?
the things you listed are available to both servers and are not dependant on #’s. buffs favor larger servers, hence no STRATEGY.
strategy involves fair fights, but better play/planning/builds.
By that logic, all WvW content is bad because it favors larger numbers.
Are you saying that strategy can only exist in a fair fight? Because there has never been a fair fight in the history of war, and yet strategy existed.
There is most definitely a strategy for being outnumbered. It is called guerrilla tactics, and is a very real thing that really works in WvW. On the current GoM, we are almost always against superior numbers, and I love it. The war does not just stop because it is unfair. For me, fighting against superior numbers can be quite rewarding. You will probably not win the PPT, but you can accomplish some great things with guerrilla tactics.
Personally, I think the ruins give more opportunity for guerrilla tactics, thus favoring the underdog. Other people think it just favors the server with the most bodies. Until the meta shakes out, there is no way to prove it either way.
Lag can and eventually will be fixed. That’s not the core issue. The core issue is that all fights 1v1, ZvZ, etc. are no longer straight up fights, they are tainted by the stat buffs.
You can think of it like PED’s in sports. Lance Armstrong won all of those Tour de France’s or Barry Bonds won all of those MVP awards but they took PED’s so it doesn’t really count.
Apply it to WvW: Team A defeated Team B in the field. Team A had the stats buff so it doesn’t really count. Now if Team B won without the stats buff then okay, well done. But Team A never really had an opportunity to do something impressive win or lose, so already they are not going to play to their potential.
I realize PED’s are illegal and the Bloodlust buff is perfectly legal, the point is more regarding the fact that there is a performance enhancer involved and how this impacts the fun of legitimately defeating your opponent toe to toe.
WvW is about strategy. You are supposed to take advantage of every unfair aspect, it is war. That is why there is siege, walls, and upgrades.
If one side has a ballista behind their zerg, they have an advantage. If one side has the bloodlust buff, they have an advantage. WvW is a strategy game, and it is supposed to be that way.
The correct place for “toe to toe” “everything is fair” fighting is sPvP. I realize that sPvP is woefully inadequate for a lot of types of pvp, but that is sPvP’s problem, not WvW’s. They should not design WvW to be what sPvP ought to be. Instead they ought to improve the sPvP game mode so it can run GvG and duels and deathmatch.
In the meantime, take advantage of the unstable meta. This is your chance to develop new strategies which your enemy does not know yet. People have been making all sorts of stupid strategic moves, make them pay for it! …
My server is SFR. With these buffs the only stupid strategic moves our opponents ever do, are simply logging in WvW… They get zerged even harder…
Now, I see what you are trying to pull with this, and to be fair, I’ve been pretty supportive and patient toward ANet, but this is immensely ridiculous.
Bloodlust was never billed as a solution to population imbalance. You are the rank 1 server fighting rank 6 and 10, what did you expect?
Population imbalance is still a huge issue in GW2, but blaming it on bloodlust makes no sense.
Seriously people, stop freaking out about the bloodlust buff.
The meta takes time to change. No one really knows how bloodlust will affect the game yet. Everyone has their own unsubstantiated theories, lets wait and see who is right. Give it a month (or at least 2 weeks) before having your panic attack.
In the meantime, take advantage of the unstable meta. This is your chance to develop new strategies which your enemy does not know yet. People have been making all sorts of stupid strategic moves, make them pay for it! Take your part in shaping the new meta.
So grab your towel and don’t panic!
As is indicated in the title, the +25% movement speed is not being granted!
+1
Stop playing WvW until this kitten stops.
I want them to remove the stats you get from WvW levels too, the ones at the very end of the trees.
I actually love the new zone… I just hate the buff. The buff itself is terrible and killing WvW. The servers we were up against just gave up, and there were no fights at all. We had to call our raid 3 hours early, because after the 10th keep flip, it just becomes boring.
WTF are you talking about? Your server is down by 60k points. You are far from dominating this match.
as long as people remember one thing.
Excluding buffs, it’s pretty much impossible to kill 3 exotic-geared players on your own. The ‘zerging’ server doesn’t need to put much out to shut you down.
But that’s silly a statement to begin with, you shouldn’t be winning a 3v1 unless your opponents are absolutely terrible.
They go where they need to go. They just need somone to scout and give a report so they can keep otunumbering the weaker server where ever they are.
To accomplish that, they’d need to either have a small force on each node (yes, that means all five) or have ungodly loading times and movement. The server doesn’t need to take all three of your nodes, they just need one of your nodes and two of the other nodes.

Those points can also be zerged so you don’t have any point.
They going to sit on top of three points with 30+ people on each over three maps?
If they can afford to do that, 150+ stats was the least of your problems.
I like the new areas but not the buffs, i almost got onshotted earlier by someone with triple bloodlust.
How did 150+ stats tip the balance all the way to getting one shot?
Yes, because i love reading players whining about they can’t play wvw in a modality that wasn’t tought for
Map Changes – Yes
Points for Stomps Buff – Yes
+50 Stats Buff – No
Pretty much this….we can’t say we didn’t tell them so tho….
Hey guys since I have downloaded the patch today (17/9/2013) I am experiencing a strange bug.
Please fix it as soon as possible since it’s a really big problem!

Greetings, WvW enthusiasts & developer!
I’d just like to start out by saying what a beautiful job you’ve done with the map design. Really, you’ve outdone yourselves! The new areas are really well done and thought out. I think the new maps, personally, were worth the wait.
While I personally disagree with the stat buff, I will not comment further on it – as I would be slightly biased in my opinion of it.
All I ask is that you review your bug report submissions. This is something that was done in previous revisions of the game, but it seems the attention to bug reports and exploits e-mail have fallen since then. While I hope that some of the reports get looked at, I will address some of the ones here that need to be fixed now.
Please hotfix the following issues;
ps. I said I won’t comment, but I’ll leave this here. Guard stacks + Superior bloodlust bonus = OP. http://i.imgur.com/svxy78b.jpg

Thank you for letting us know! We have a fix for this and will be putting it out as soon as possible.
When has wvw ever been fair?! From class balance, to food, to outnumbered fights and now to bloodlust buffs, WvW is not, and was never meant to be fair. It’s all about beating the odds. That’s the beauty of the game type.
Stop all the doom and gloom and look on the bright side. As a roamer, you will now get more quality fights in one hour than you used to find over three hours. Not only that, but the terrain to fight on is infinitely more interesting than taking laps around SM.
If you want “fair” go play spvp.
Right now small groups can take undefended keeps on high pop servers because everyone is playing in the ruins.
Its the first day, of course everyone is going to go the the new area. But once the newness of it wears off I’ll bet zergs avoid it. And that’s when the small group fights come in.
Three orb buffs distributed evenly over three server?!
Relatively balanced point tick?!
Players getting on with, and playing the game?!
OMG WvW IS RUINED!

Yeah, I can post a screen cap too.

We will be adding more liquid WXP that will be purchasable, likely with badges and some other currency, soon. As in, less than a month. I’ve made it a personal goal to improve the experience for playing alts in WvW. And to cut it off now, we are not making WvW rank account bound.
request to BB, pls drop in points low enough so that you’ll be in the same league as AG and Gandara, that way, we’re almost guarenteed to be matched up.
i prefer kodash and augury rock
BB,blobbadon, riverside not fun play this server, in this match i have more fun vs Fort Ranik they have a lot of skill player
Please hold while we collect data, we obviously could not have forseen this
