I’m not going to lie, I’m very surprised it came from him (the anet dev). I’ve had nothing but great interactions with him since I’ve been playing this game (and for all asking, he’s definitely not a tester, he is an actual dev). I’m hoping what happened is that he was there just watching in the middle and the leader (that Star Instigator) called him an F Rtard, I’m pretty sure that probably caused his reaction. What if that was a normal, non-WvW player trying it out, not understanding your GvG, then you start whispering someone calling them an effing kitten .
I don’t think what he did was right, because you must remain professional at all times, but I also hope you get something for your language and insult.
Have you really never been flamed in a game before? If someone can’t keep their cool during a bit of flaming then what are they doing working in the games industry?
Heads up folks, gamers do actually talk like that to each other. You’d have to be incredibly casual or inexperienced to not have been there before.
Furthermore, the guy bloody works for Anet. He knew what they were doing. He was there to get a rise out of them and then wave his tag around like a big man. He confirms it with the ’you’re violating my game mode’ comment. Everyone who has a shred of sense can see that he (the dev) was the instigator, not the other way around.
“Instigator”?
Did he insulted, belittled, humiliated, direspected anyone?
*While he remained silent and standing his ground, the wave of Insults, mocking, humiation and disreoectfulness were casted on him by the GvG’s.
He stood his ground without “bashing” anyone..
Yet after the staf moved aside, it was the GvG’s who were ‘bashing’ him, not him.
Count how many words he said in compare to the GvG’s words and see who is the Instigator?
They are!
All the evidence are in the video, where are you getting your evidence "proof’?
Or is being indenial or ‘lying’ is your proof?

If those 1k leave the game, that means no hardcore WvW guilds left, so only pug blobs. Not a nice thought and extremely boring.
gvg’ers are not the only hardcore wvw’ers. That type of thinking is precisely the problem I’ve been pointing out.

I don’t think that much work is involved:
1- Map: copy a pve map
2- Achievements: most of the people who GvG do it for the fun of it and take a record of their matches on sites outside of GW2.
3- Rewards: hardly necessary, since the guys who do GvG atm don’t get anything for it.
But imagine they have to release it and people ask it what’s it all about.
“Uhm yeah so this is an area you should all know and uhm.. yeah you meet in the middle of the map and kill each other, there is no objective, there aren’t any rewards”

I’m not sure why you guys lack the ability to solve this Elementary School problem.
Problem:
Warriors with tank gear and still high damage by relying on stun+unsuspecting foe.
Cause:
It’s totally not the fact that a trait allows a tank build to get high damage, it must be healing signet!
Solution:
Simple! We nerf healing signet which does nothing to prevent this exploit to work, but screws up a lot of other builds. So we don’t solve anything at all, but create more problems!
God I’m glad this game is developed by a team of adults.
Glad to see I made the right decision when I quit this game
Oh what you quit the game? I guess your signature wasn’t enough. At least you frequent the forums so we all know that you left the game!
But serious question what’s the problem with sPvP arenas?
Just go back to zerging your dragon, you clearly don’t understand what attracts people to open world PvP.
Open world PvP? A set number of players that meet at a predefined location attack at a predefined time each other without any interference. How is that open world pvp?
And please don’t try to create some kind of elitism around your coordinated groupfights.
Dev’s behaviour childish beyond imagination. The battles are not childish as the players are exercising what i believe playing how they want to play.
One of the first things that came out of the players mouth was “kitten” not sure how this is not a childish behavior.
Its a kitten poor fight club calling itself GvG it dosent even measure up to guild wars 1 GvG or alliance battle at best what their doing is a mock version of random or team arenas

How does GvG require more skill than the regular WvW?

Hey let’s play WoW and complain that they have no dogde function and that they hate players for trying to dogde!

It is very sad and tragic of how the Act of Sincere Remorseful Apology suddenly deserves the Death Penalty.
The Dev deserves punishment but those players need a ban imho. Such childish and toxic abuse shouldn’t be tolerated no matter the situation. And this thread needs to be locked…
Can we just lock this thread? All that is left is people crying and its quite sad and pathetic.

Hi All,
I wanted to comment about the incident that happened recently in-game, surrounding some negative community interaction from a member of the ArenaNet staff.
Simply put a big mistake was made by one of our employees, for which he is both very upset and sorry. He allowed his personal feelings to affect his interactions in-game whilst representing ArenaNet, and this is absolutely unacceptable.
Like all players, we are human, and all have our opinions on the game. However these opinions should never disrupt other player’s enjoyment of the things they love. On top of this we have worked very hard to create a community that is respectful to one another, and for this behavior to have occurred while a developer is representing ArenaNet is doubly saddening.
We all cherish the opportunity to play with the community, and we absolutely rely on you all for in game feedback, and personally I hope that this incident does not hamper what has so far been an amazing relationship and opportunity for us all.
I would therefore like to sincerely apologize for this behavior on behalf of our staff member. We are taking steps to address the incident and for his part, he is very sorry for behaving in the manner in which he did.
Regarding Guild game play, please understand it is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to, so please do be patient with the developers who work tirelessly on making WvW the very best it can be, they have a great deal of respect for you all, and value your collaboration in pushing this pioneering mode forward. Also please note this member of staff is not on the WvW team.
Finally, World vs. World is a free-for-all battle. Our expectation of staff is that they should be playing, and enjoying the game like everyone else, and not being disruptive or disrespectful to others.
And in this spirit I hope we can move forward, and continue, what has up to this point, been a great community/developer relationship. One that I know our team massively values and loves.
Thank you all for your time and i hope you have a lovely weekend,
ChrisW
Thanks you for your apology. The is a good example of the way Anet needs to communicate with its customers: acknowledge mistakes in a specific rather than general way, and hopefully work to correct those errors. For many of us the issue is less that an Anet dev lost his temper but that the conditions which are leading to arranged GvG matches are not being addressed. While I am not but would like to be a GvGer I have received a lot of flack for engaging in open field fights and roaming, and have seen others get the same treatment from players. It is clear a lot of players are fed up with WvW in its current form and recent implementations threaten to make its deficiencies worse in the eyes of many.
I am glad that you are taking the issue seriously, welcoming feedback from the community and hopefully you are willing to move forward and give the community what it is asking for in a timely manner before many of us feel compelled to rage quit the game.
So wait, you GvG lamers locked down a whole zone with queue times from people that actually wanted to use it for its intended purpose and its ANets fault for pointing out that you doing so?
I have a few ideas of what ANET can do with your GvG bs.
There are no queues in WvW save for T1 and maybe T2 servers. There were no queues in this case.
LMAO WHAT??? No queues in wvw except for T1 & T2? I have never played on or against T1 & T2, and I have been in several queue’s ranging from 5 seconds up to an hour. That is one of the most blatantly false statements that I have ever heard!

Kill a few: there won’t be a many
Bit of a slow response but pretty much exactly what I expected. Maybe a bit longer than I expected.
They don’t have a choice but respond. There are a number of upset people and they need damage control in place. I think Chris is becoming the unofficial PR “sorry guys” employee. Can’t we just move on? It’s not like the company or any representatives of it have done anything stupid in the past.
Agreed, this was just one person acting this way. His mistake was deciding to do this while displaying his Anet guild tag/logo. I’m a firm believer of everyone having the right to speak their mind, but it is not acceptable to do so when you are presenting your opinions in a manner that implies they are shared by your employer.
On the other hand, some of the people upset by this and blaming Anet as a whole, need to realize when the ‘representative’ has overstepped his boundaries and is speaking his own opinions, not the company’s.

Oof. Can we just close this thread already?
Sorry that this “name and shames”. I tried to edit but I’m woefully bad at doing so. Anyways, here is some screenshot of an ANET employee kind of being a jerk to us who were GvGing. Hopefully I don’t get infracted, but I imagine it’s coming.
Enjoy,

real thieves don’t need permastealth. i manage to do fine without that scrub crutch.
There are no such thing as “real Thieves” and stealth is not a “scrub crutch”.
Wether you like it or not, stealth is just as much a viable playstyle as evasion. Stop going around preaching this stupid crap about how evasive Thieves are better just because you play one.

Don’t laugh about the EU/NA merge, I’ve been thinking about it and I’m starting to believe that it may happen on some level (maybe a post-season between the top 3 of both zone?)
Think about it, they have been adamant about the 2 leagues about the beginning. They are adamant about the effects of bloodlust. What could their big announcement be, that they need to have it translated perfectly before they can let the news out?
There are only three possibilities that come to mind:
2. Changes to the bloodlust. Either a change in the amount of bonus stats, in the places needed to capture, or even a cooldown before it can change hands.
“Think about it, they have been adamant about the 2 leagues about the beginning. "
The post is about the nature and number of leagues in NA.Other points here:
1) My understanding is that we literally can’t match NA and EU servers up. It is about the physical locations of the data centers and the speed at which data travels. So, until that changes, interleague is off the table.
2) We are making some changes to bloodlust in advance of the season. More specific details will be out in the near future, I’m not sure when exactly.
Thanks for clearing some of that up and sharing what you can. We’re all eager for more information.
Don’t transfer to lagfest if you want to actually enjoy the game. Do you care what your rank is? A number that doesn’t give you anything in-game? I don’t. I just want to pwn noobs, troll with ballistas, knock people off cliffs, and pick up phat lootz the way Santa intended for the little children.

People are in the ruins mainly for the great small party terrain, not the silly buff. If there were no control points I do not believe you’d see one less person there. If bloodlust is changed to do anything other than buffing player stats, we will have a much healthier wvw and happier player base.
