It’s obvious that collusion is the only option for the lower tier servers. Seriously though, how often does the 2 weaker servers ever gang up on the strongest server?

Do they even organize? Or is it going to be like 2 babies fighting an adult?

On the other hand, if the weak servers don’t put in the effort in communicating and organizing, then they deserve to lose.

That’s how I see it.

On paper this sounds like a good plan.
In reality the server with the higher population will still win because they will be able to cover all maps while the other 2 might be able to cover 2 at the most.

But what it does do is allow for better fights, some sense of accomplishment and a more fun instead of getting spawncamped for a week.

If #10 and #9 go up against #2, if they have any sense then they better gang up on #2.

So much negativity. Why don’t we give it a chance. People complain that there isn’t enough variety and yet you introduce something new and people freak out.

The irony is that people think they want freedom but what they are used to is rigid hand holding. The lower tier servers were protected from the tier 1 monster servers. This is what they want to cling on to. They want theme park pvp with the choice to exit the rides when they feel like they can’t keep up.

well… eb in tier 2 would keep geting 3rd place anyway… and loose every single match up.. u’d just get more winners… not make them more competitive

Oh, well there’s the problem. WvW isn’t a competitive game mode. It’s just coverage wars between servers stacked with casuals.

Although Bloodlust and Leagues are a terrible idea, Anet you are still continuing. Please do atleast one thing though and change the US leagues from 2 (12 servers) to 4 (6servers). Currently one of the biggest fears in 1st league is the top 5 servers have population that dwarfs the bottom 7. If each server is going to play each other in league atleast once that will give 4 out 7 matches to be complete blowouts and not fun at all. I am sure bottom 12 servers will experience this. The population for US wvw servers isn’t as balanced as EU and needs the servers divided into groups of 6 instead to have better matchups. These league servers below matched up with each other will give ALOT more balanced matches then dividing servers into 2 groups only.

SOR,BG,JQ,TC,DB,FA League 1
Mag,SoS,SBI,EB,CD,BP League 2
YB,KN,IoJ,DH,NS,HoD League 3
SF,GoM,ET,FC,AR,DR League 4

TLDR
Although Leagues are a dumb idea we need 4 leagues in US instead of 2 to make matchups not blowouts for atleast 50% of 7 weeks duration.

While looking at the necro, if you are not going to ever allow the ability to regen or heal through, or bleed onto, our actual health, would you consider modifying the way regen/healing works when in DS? 100% of all healing is wasted on the necro while in DS, but why not allow heals to effect our DS pool, even if it were a minor say half of what the heal would be to your hp pool it would allow us to stay within DS longer when in groups or solo if under the effects of a regen. I admit it is high time we got a nice boost to our blood magic line, but if you are truly trying to make us THE attrition class we need the tools to stay in the battle. I realize that upping our condi damage may have been what you wanted for us, and it is a welcome change, but IMO it is the wrong direction to take the necro, especially those of us that want the ability to turtle.

I honestly feel that the not healing in DS thing is tough also, and it probably should just be 50%-40% of healing is given to the necromancer while in Death Shroud . This or make it so 25 in blood magic made it so you could get healed while in death shroud. That way, it will make it so the traitline is viable, while also making sure you dont have what Anet fears : an unkillable super high damaging machine. Thats the only problem with healing in death shroud easily or it not being reduced.

Please. Stop calling for endless nerfs. Yes, that ranger build may be prevalent in PvP. But it is not as OP in other areas. And the recent changes to spirits does create much counter-play. Please learn the counter mechanics rather than just call for nerfs.

… is being taken while you pound your head against Briar, failing to take it. It’s called tunnel vision.

It’s time to face the truth. WvW is the preferred PvP of GW2 players and sPvP will never become the esport that you want it to be.

WvW is simply more attractive to players.

  • If you want to run in a zerg anonymously, with no pressure to perform yet with feeling of accomplishment when you win (loot bags!), you can do that.
  • If you like to play for PPT, you can do that.
  • If you don’t care about PPT, but simply want your server do well when you personally are online, you can do that.
  • If you like siege, taking towers, or defending towers, you can do that.
  • If you like duels, solo roaming, small group roaming, GvG, you can do that.

The openness of the world attracts a wide variety of play styles, and that’s what people enjoy. Yet despite all our disparate play styles, we do all come together to help when watergate is being rushed by 10 golems, so there is some feeling of server cohesion/pride.

Finally, WvW is endgame content. You can satisfy a large number of your customer base without the constant pressure of creating new content that people will rush through and finish in a day.

It’s time to realize that WvW has become much more than you intended (merely a vehicle to move people towards sPvP). It’s time to take advantage of that because at some point, it will be too late.

B-b-b-b-ut, OP… Don’t you get it? WvW is supposed to be unfair! That’s why As gear doesn’t matter, it’s supposed to be unbalanced and unfair! What does it matter if we make it even worse? It’s supposed to be broken!

At least, that’s what I keep reading in the threads where an even fighting chance is proposed.

It’s pretty clear that these new capture and hold point in the BL’s are a desperate attempt by Anet to attract WvW players to sPvP. They think that we will enjoy it so much that we will all become sPvP’ers. And then: esport.

Hm. I would add that I thought As gear and Guard line buffs were the first step of that.

“Want equal stats? Don’t want to grind for gear? GO SPVP PLZ WE NEED ESPORT GOOO”

Nope it’s about them letting us, the players, decide how we WANT to play the game.

That’s the point.

But its never that clear cut, now is it? Certainly isn’t for you because you don’t want to let anyone play the game in the way they want to unless its the way you want them to play the game.

Here, let me quote you:
“We don’t want siegewars.” ~ Some people do.
“We don’t want orb bonuses.” ~ Some people do.
“Please give us the dev time and let sPvP get life support dev focus for once…” ~ Some people like sPvP and would rather you not abuse it anymore than it already has been.

Ho boy. Would you look at that? Its not about we, its about me.

Interesting view you have.

1. Siege Wars refers to Open field Siege creep.
2. No one has stated they want the bonuses..stop lying
3. sPvP is dead. They are not the majority. WvW far outnumbers sPvP and infact i’m willing to bet that 1 week of WvW players far outnumbers months of sPvP players. You give dev time to what the majority of your players play not cling to some dead game mode literally the tiniest fraction of your player base plays.

The majority has spoken and you really need to realize it.

I want the orb buffs. There, your argument is shattered.

Perception =/= Reality, go to the pvp forums and post this topic, Pvp is definetly not the focus, might have the “publicity” but not the focus, its been stated many times already, all game modes especially wvw are the focus.

and fyi, Pvp is not a “dead” game mode

…and this is my first time attending Co-dependants Anonymous.

It all started that fateful day when I first met him; the Big Z. The rotting flesh, the putrid green aura, the multiple heads; what’s not to love, right? And that raw, primal lust for power with all those undead minions worshiping at his feet. Made me weak in the wings.

Back then, I’d do anything for him…anything. And I did, too. “Stand on the beach and look menacing but don’t actually pose a threat.”, he said. I – star-struck – obediently complied, “Yes, Big Z. Anything for you Big Z.

Over time, though, there was a growing emptiness inside me. I just chocked it up to an empty stomach and figured a few dozen adventurer hors d’oeuvres would satisfy my hunger. Alas – tasty as they were – they did not sate the growing void within.

Something was missing. That something was me. I’d repressed my own needs so Big Z could take all the glory. He was just using me and I – foolishly – allowed it to happen. I enabled his attention seeking behavior…his narcissism…at the expense of my own nature. I look back now and think how could I have been so stupid.

When I finally confronted him with the news that I wouldn’t allow myself to be used anymore, he just laughed. “There’s a million more where you came from, sweet cheeks.”, he derisively chuckled. It stung, but at least I had asserted myself. I had finally broken his spell over me. I was free.

Recovery has been hard. After so long of standing in one place, my fitness level is shot. I can barely fly anymore; it’s more of a glorified leap. But each day I’m working to get stronger; I can even hover a little bit now.

And, as emotionally cruel as his treatment of me was, I do have to thank Big Z for giving me control over my own squad of undead minions. I’m trying not to do to them what I allowed Big Z to do to me. I’m encouraging their independence…facilitating their efforts at self-discovery. Of course, that’s quite the uphill battle when dealing with mindless Risen; but you have to have goals. I see glimmers of hope, though, as they start to push a little bit further inland. They try so hard; it makes me smile.

Long-term? Well, I’d really like to return to where I started. The scourge of the skies. The sower of pestilence and plague. The dark winged harbinger of death and destruction. Of course, that’s going to take awhile. Something – some unseen force…as…if…as if…I was being controlled…or…hmmm?…like I’m following a script – is holding me back. I don’t really know how to describe it. It’s just…I’m a FREAKING dragon, ok! There’s so much MORE I could be doing than standing around on a beach. Old habits die hard, I guess.

Hmmm? What’s that? “Like what?”, you ask? I don’t know. Just…something. I want to be ME. I want to travel. I want to see what the world looks like beyond the Splintered Coast. Fly inland a bit, visit some of the coastal communities, and sample their fine local delicacies like Asura Appetizers, Sylvari Salad, Hylek Hummus. You know, taste what the world has to offer. I’m tired of sand between my claws all the time.

I also want to challenge myself. That’s the only way we grow. I’m tired of all these pesky little ants milling about my feet. They’re dumb as bricks, I tell you. No, I do not need my 1,000th pedicure with a greatsword, thank…you…very…much. I mean, it’s the same ol’, same ol’. Back in the Big Z days, they hit me, I feign injury, then jump back into the ocean…and that’s even when I’m beating them. But that’s how Big Z wanted it, so that’s what I did.

No more; I want something better for myself. I want a challenge and these tiny sand mites biting at my heels ain’t cuttin’ it. Sure, they’ve got their mega-laser; bully for them. What do they expect me to do, just STAND there while they fire at me?!?! I did that for Big Z…I ain’t doin’ that no more!

No…if they want to shoot me, they’re going to have to work for it. They’re going to have to do more than swing away at my feet. They’ll have to figure out how to climb up on my back and beat me into submission first if they expect to get a clear shot with that laser thingy. And just to make it REALLY interesting, they’re going to have to manage that WHILE I’M IN FLIGHT! And if I just happen to do a mid-air roll and dump them in the drink, too bad, so sad for them. Ha! How do you like them apples, you so-called-adventurers?!?!

And NOW when I beat them? Hehehehehe! No more jumping back into the sea and swimming away. If they lose, there’s going to be consequences; believe…you…me. I’m taking this show on the road, baby, and the Risen are coming with me!!! I’ve had my fill of Splintered Coast; Aleem’s Penance, Chokevine Gorge, Shattercleft Hills, here…I…come. Heck, maybe with a good agent, I could even book all of Sparkfly Fen if the fleas can’t figure out how to hold me back. I’m returning to my roots and spreading the corruption I was born to spread, one waypoint at a time.

Of course, that’s all just a dream. But at least now I have a dream; something to work towards. With Big Z, I had nothing.

I’m also making connections with The Shatterer and The Claw of Jormag. They’re where I used to be; enablers unable to see a way out of their situation. In helping them find the courage to break free, I feel like I’m giving back…reaffirming my own commitment to myself. We have to take care of ourselves because – if we don’t – no one else will.

So that’s my story.

Claw of Jormag: Will now freeze up to 50 random players on the Frostgorge map three times during the encounter, frozen players will die instantly and lose 1 random piece of equipped armor which will be completely destroyed (beyond repair due to chill) Also Jormag will penalize all the afk players by raining ice shards over Lions arch which will last until it is slain. All other players running champ trains will be frozen as well and will be unable to move for 24 hrs.
Chance of precursor drop from its chest is now doubled to 0.00002% to compensate for the added difficulty.

Shadow Behemoth: Will now have 10 total phases, Each phase will now spawn additional portals accompanied by Aatxes. 5 random players will be sent into Underworld during the final phase and have a chance to fight Dhuum. If they 5 players fail to kill Dhuum, Shadow Behemoth will slay all enemies in Queensdale causing all equipped armor to break on all players. Dhuum will also randomly slay players 20 players per minute all over Tyria till the Shadow Behemoth event re-starts. Dhuum’s Scythe is now added to the chest with a chance of 0.00003% to compensate for the added difficulty.

Fire Elemental: Will now cause your fps to drop below 5 and will make this fight nearly impossible. If somehow players manage to slay this creature, it will now reward each players with a title: “My Pc is better than yours!” Upon failing, it will award the title: “Buy a better pc”

Great Jungle Wurm: Now will take up to 2 mins to kill, versus the previous 1 min to increase the difficulty. Players will receive an extra blue drop from the chest of lvl 15 to compensate for the extra time and effort.

The Shatterer: Can no longer be attacked by standing on the left side rock formation, players will now have to stand on the right side to auto-attack instead. Players standing in the old rock formation will instead turn into Branded creatures and will be forced to attack other players.

Tequatl the Sunless: will now require 80 man zergs wearing exotics or better, a cool minipet has been added to the chest which will be account bound and will have a slightly higher chance to drop than a precursor. Although we might make it more rare during a ninja patch soon after the update.
Upon failing this event, Lions Arch will be transformed to an underwater city, Risen Sharks will have their way with all that dare to enter.

Inquest Golem Mark II: will now transform into Mark III and perform a new spinning move which may knock your character all the way to cursed shore or possibly even to the Fire Island Chain (who knows this will be RNG based), knockback can be avoided if you character performs precision jump-dodge roll. This boss can no longer be defeated, instead last person standing on the platform will now be rewarded with 10g. All other Knocked off characters will lose 1g from their account wallet.

If they made Bosses stronger (more time to kill) without additional rewards (example: more ectos) then this update will fail, even if Bosses would appear “more interesting”.

Why? People have specifically asked for harder bosses for months. Its been one of the biggest shout outs to the devs. They drop ascended mats now too, so technically they have been given more rweards, but no extra work to obtain them. I can’t see how it could “fail”.

On topic, no. Respecs aren’t necessary because you can just get more points. If you could respec, any points beyond 300 would be pretty much irrelevant. Scheduled, very occasional respecs are okay, but people will just game the system if they have the choice to change.

This is exactly why we are taking the path we have in regards to respecs. Because of the fact that you can continue to earn WXP and World Ability Points, giving everyone a respec, even an incredibly expensive one would cause people to shift around their points as the current meta dictates. Right now, you will have the opportunity at the start of a season to rethink how your characters are set up and to spend your points accordingly, without feeling like you are forever bound to your choices. But, because you can’t just back out of them whenever, they have more weight. That’s why we have done what we have.

Doing so would invalidate the time people spend acquiring that gear. I think the heart of your post is in the right place, but what we would rather do is make possible for people to get the gear by playing WvW with a sprinkling of PvE, rather than the other way around.

Good feedback here, I especially like the “AI Clutter/gameplay too easy” section. We want to do a lot of this stuff to improve the quality of life for our players.

This is a great example of how to document feedback for us to read. It is noteworthy to mention that feedback is also much more likely to be read when not filled with hyperbole and sarcasm.

I personally have used a few of these talking points when delivering feedback to the Skills and Balance Team, not all but a few. Just remember when writing lengthy topics to establish a TL;DR at the end. We have talked about doing a lot of this stuff you wrote about so that should at least be good to hear.
Nice write-up Julius. Threads like these +1.
