Point 1- possibly now it’ll be instant cast..wow
Point 2- phoenix will have double speed
Point 3- you can treat for reduced glyph CD, elite at 92s and GoEP at 36 duration 30s
Point 4- start in earth, use GoEP, switch to air..enjoy and with double speed phoenix…double enjoy..and if the glyph is instant cast..triple enjoy
Point 5 – Signet of Air + new windborn trait = excellent d/d roamer/skirmisher
Point 6- Cleansing fire will be 40s..if treated it’ll be 32s along with lightning flash..they’re still cantrip…they still trigger regeneration
Point 7 – d/d roamer with 0/10/0/30/30 treated cantrip, best condition removal in game, + windborn dagger + lightning flash= best in combat mobility
Point 8- burst ele( scepter + new air GM Fresh Air +arcane lightning ) and d/d roamer (windborn dagger , signet of air) are about to become the most feared things on the face of Tyria

The main reason is simply that at the point that outmanned does that, it encourages servers to have fewer players on to take advantage of the stat boost. That, in turn, will cause people to yell at other players for logging on and taking away the buff.

clearly you haven’t thought this through.

let’s go back to week 21, just before the new matchup system went into place.

JQ lost in tier 1, and TC won in tier 2, so JQ would go down and TC would go up. likewise, swap DB/Mag, YB/SoS, SBI/EB, AR/DH, IoJ/GoM and NSP/HoD. so we’d have these matches:
SoR / BG / TC
JQ / FA / Mag
DB / Kain / SoS
YB / CD / EB
SBI / BP / DH
AR / SF / GoM
IoJ / DR / HoD
NSP / FC / ET

what do you think the outcomes would have been? let’s look at T1. SoR is beating TC by a ton this week. you’re actually complaining that SoR vs TC is a bad matchup, yet that is exactly what Winner Up Loser Down would have given you last week. do you really think that taking SoS out of the match and putting BG in their place would have helped TC do better? no, they’d be doing even worse because they’d be up against 2 tough opponents instead of 1 easy and 1 hard.

how about T2? FA is beating Mag this week by a ton. yet WULD would have put them together. even worse, it would have thrown JQ in there to pile on Mag as well.

the other tiers would mostly be similar (except YB/CD/EB would probably have been a good matchup).

so, what would happen the following week? TC would lose against SoR and BG and drop down. JQ would win against FA and Mag and come up. you would end up with SoR BG and JQ again, which is exactly the same matchup you started with. likewise with the other tiers — servers would mostly settle in the same positions they had the week before.

and the matches you consider “good” this week? not a single one of them would have happened under WULD (except maybe CD/YB/Kain, but only after several weeks and only if exactly the right wins and losses happened in exactly the right order).

That is the worst possible system. It guarantees that every other week a T1 server is fighting a T3 server (#3 vs #7, best case scenario, #1 vs #9 in a perfect storm), and the like repeated in every tier – which is exactly what you are complaining about happening here randomly and only for one week at a time.

Did you even give 1 minutes thought to this before you complained?

I don’t want to destroy your illusion but only because there is much more people complaining it doesn’t mean that this is the common opinion throughout the whole gw2 population. Its just normal that less people will show up to say something like “well, the new system is pretty decent”. As it is for me i even like the new match up system even if it still balancing. It gave our server awsome fights and great fun and you might be able to have some fun too if you changed your attitude.

I’ve been playing on Gunnars Hold since ever, so instead of most of you guys complaining here our server knows the feeling of defeat and the lack of people. But we tried to get people out of pve and into pvp. Our guilds tried to get better too, but in the end we still couldn’t ever get above of tier 7 and were bound to face wsr, rof and dz forever. Even Ruins of Surmia who got an insane income of guilds of tier 1 wasn’t able to get into tier 6 after weeks of facing us and winning permanently.

But after one week with the new matchup with indeed some mismatches you can still see that some rankings which had been completly solidified have been wrong:
Last week the first three matchups were uninteresting but above that it was sometimes pretty surprising
-between Piken, Riverside and Gunnars (place 8,10,20 not 1,4,7 were most our NA friends are crying in this thread!) Gunnars was able to get 125k points which is more than half of what Piken made
-the matchup Underworld, Fort Ranik and Ruins of Surmia (17,18,19), a matchup that was impossible before the change, was extremly tight and was decided at friday
- for Millers Sound, Aurora Glade and Drakkar Lake (12,14,16) we had a match between two german servers that played against each other for some time and AG which were at least 1 sometimes 2 tiers above the other two for weeks and yet they still ended 3rd placed
- for Gandara, Far Shiverpeaks and Arborstone (13,15,25!): for some reason FS got heavily smacked in that week but the more interesting thing is AS. They only know extrems either they stomped Vabbi and Fissure of Woe or they got dominated in tier 8 yet two servers that are ranked soooo much higher and must be sooo much better couldn’t stomp them down (not even under 100k points). This means that in prime time when AS had the same amount people Gandara and FS weren’t that much better than them o.O
-the last two matches were pretty lame again as we had them many times before and they always ended more or less like that

This weeks matchup is still pretty new and things still can change but even here we have some unexpected developments ( i ll start from the back this time)
- you can forget Arborstone, Fissure of Woe and Vabbi
- but Underworld, Ring of Fire and Blacktide (17,22,25) doesn’t seem to be such an unbalanced match. Sure Underworld is stronger but the other two seem to be able to fight back
- Fort Ranik, Dzagonur and Withesideridge (18,21,24) should be an even closer match yet FR destroyes them completly till now which makes me at least wonder what either RoF and BT have compared to Dz and WSR or what Underworld lacks compared to FR as considering the old rankings they should all be more or less the same
- now to Millers Sound, Ruins of Surmia and Gunnars Hold (13,19,20): again an extremly unbalanced matchup if you look at the old rankings. The gap of mere 23k points between 1st and 3rd place could tell you though that Millers doesn’t seem to be that much better than those former tier 8 servers. You also could take in account that the german servers like Millers normally don’t get much better during the week but RoS will most likely get stronger.
- the matchup between Abbadons Mouth, Gandara and Far Shiverpeaks (11,12,16) is one that i can’t actually understand well myself as Gandara and FS get stomped way too hard for what i expected but maybe there is some player movement or i just don’t know of their normal weekend weakness
- Riverside, Aurora Glade and Drakar Lake (8,14,15): Riverside has a far bigger wvw population than the other two servers and so they can queue all their maps much easier i believe but i already said the system is still balancing and hopefully matches like that will stop after some time
- Jade Sea, Augury Rock and Piken Square (3,9,10) on the other hand is pure gold in my argumentation. Its a match that wouldn’t have been here without the new system as JS was way out range for AR and Piken and yet it seems not to be boring on their maps
-The upper two matchups aren’t that much again as on the one hand Vizunah and Elona truly aren’t ranked on first and second for show but on the other hand at least Seafarer lost some people since their tier 1 time and Desolation lost loads

I don’t know if you could say anything similar about the NA servers as i don’t know how it looks at your side of the world but in my opinion this system isn’t bad for EU. I also know that i can’t convince the stubborn ones but who cares.

Do the EU T1 servers have 24/7 coverage like the NA T1 servers? If so would it not make sense for them to play one another? They could call it a champions league or something.

The EU servers are housed on a different continent from the NA ones. Pretty much the opposite side of the world…

I’ll make my points clearer, hopefully.

if playing with lags, blobs and not guilds is your goal it is fine but it is not ours.

There are no goals in friggin WvW. There is nothing to be won.
There is a game. You either play the game, or you don’t.

Nobody likes fighting with lag. Fighting with lag can’t be a goal, it’s something that is achieved randomly when playing.

Respect is earned not given

Again, the usual bs.
You can’t play a game mode and decide that the mode doesn’t suit you.
Respect towards the servers is as important as respect towards the game.
Then again, if you insist on “earning” respect, give your opponents an opportunity to do so.
Atm you just look like spoiled brats. You’re disrespecting your entire server and your army of fighters.

there are 2 guilds on Visunah that I have respect for and that would be GHO and LNM because they try to run apart from the blobs

You can say it’s crazy and we “have to” blob because this game is about that.

I never said that. When I am referring to the “game the way it’s meant to be played”, I mean that this is an objective-capping game mode. You can’t make it about fights only.
Would I prefer GvG only ?

Should I impose my vision on the rest of the server(s) ?
Nope, that’s very selfish.

Put pressure on Anet. Make them give us a GvG mode. The GvG website is a great start.
(although I wish people hadn’t stoned Troma to death when he first came up with the idea, but that’s another topic)

The fact that people blob is out of the guilds hands. It’s simple, people who aren’t part of organized structures regroup together on the map to have an impact.
What can we do about that ?
We, members of guilds run, together as guild groups during prime.
This way, a monozerg quickly transforms into a decent-sized group of PUs, and then several satellite groups.
This is the most efficient way to counter an opposing monozerg.

Do them same thing. Force the blob to split. Attack different objectives on the maps at the same time during offpeak.
My opinion on why you’re not doing it ? Well, exactly the same reason as to why our groups stay in a monozerg : gratification factor, steamrolling, karma, exp. And also, it’s hard to have several commanders when there are 30 players for the 4 maps.

We’re not that different.
We accepted a lot better than you ever did that this game was about objectives. It still doesn’t mean we don’t have small groups and it doesn’t mean we don’t like to fight.
We love to fight.

I personally think you should push for what you want in the game, but constructively. Boycotting a matchup is childish. Deciding your ennemies are not worthy of your time is arrogant.
Creating a WvW website is constructive. Giving feedback to the devs on what is right and what is wrong is constructive.

How does a game do everything mechanically so well but then polish it with the most abysmal UI possible?

WvW is an unorganized zerg fest, commanders run around with an unknown amount of players/siege/supply counts.

No simple raid UI, no ability to manage group make ups, no quick supply count without calling for everyone to stack on your location and type a command.

No quick way to label groups in order to assign tasks. No surprise it’s a massive zerg fest since release.

All this on top of culling which is just eating away at Commander morale cause they don’t have the most basic tools for organization, they spend more time wondering what they have to work with then actually thinking of a tactic.

Arenanet, get with the 21st century and do what games did 10 years ago, have a functional UI on top of their game, I can’t even tell how much HP my party members have outside of a green bar. Who gave the green light for WvW on release? Did you spend 90% of the time figuring out how many non essential NPCs to throw out in the “living battlefield” before thinking “Hey if we want this to be a warzone with siege/tactics and fortified positions maybe the commanders will want to have an idea of what forces they are leading/supply they are carrying/grroup make ups/map locations of squad groups/rally points etc”

This is more of a rant than anything but it just baffles me at how bad the game is supported by it’s UI. I have a commander tag and I dread using it because it’s more of a headache then it is fun to command in this game. You have thrown no bone to the players who are attempting to enjoy your WvW experience, it’s literally a joke.

I want less animals and many, many more patrolling guards. It should feel like areas are controlled by a faction, not just be random cap locations in the middle of nowhere where are couple of guards are lazily sleeping on their post.

This policy was written before we had APIs available, and needs to be updated to make it clear that we encourage app development and usage. We realize that in its current form it can be hard to figure out what is acceptable.

Our hope is that the new policy will make it very clear what is acceptable, so that you don’t have to worry about getting banned by using an app. The new policy is still being written, and we will update you when it’s ready.

It’s our intent to allow API-derived apps like GW2Stuff’s overlay to be used by players. From our perspective, having an overlay is just a different way of presenting content. We are not currently banning players simply for using overlays, and have no plans to do so.

Decent update. I wasn’t that bothered about having Ascended gear in WvW as the increase in stats is pretty insignificant when compared to their exotic counterparts. Saying that, more options to get stuff in game is never a bad thing. I’m glad Anet didn’t go overboard and completely undermine the effort FOTM/PvE players have to put in to get the same thing. And I’m equally glad that the Laurel Vs. badge amount for ascended gear is still high enough to not encourage too many loot kittens into WvW who will take up spaces from those who want to play WvW simply because they enjoy it. After all, the jumping puzzles on borderland still award badges.

I’m excited to see how the new matchup system works, but I fear those that get too bogged down by points and ‘winning the matchup’ won’t be happy when they get steamrolled by a server with a greater presence from initially a higher tier. Personally, I’m looking forward to perhaps coming up against a few of the old servers I used to play on ;-)
