Those suggestiong cause more problems than they are worth. Think before you post them because it is obvious they are not very though out.

Here is why.

We have enough people on the server causing grief by using supply to siege cap and waste supply.

We don’t need to give these people another tool to cause problems.

If a debuff is applied because a group of players are in a area, all it would take is just that one player to put a group over the limit.

Then there is the defense. Say guild x left so many people in hills to defend and the rest to apply pressure. Hills get attacked so now so that we don’t get a stupid debuff, the commander will have to do some math and leave behind the group applying pressure. Add to that the rest of the server that happen to enjoy hills defense so they come along to help and instead they hinder because of a stupid debuff suggestion. So now we also get server drama because people wanted to help but didn’t know they were going to cause more problems than actually help.

These things are dumb. Quit suggesting them because they cause more problems than actually help.

If you want to encourage something other than a zerg, come up with something else.

I happen to enjoy all aspects of WvW, I don’t care to see the zerg portion ruined just because some of you people don’t like it.

I speak for my self and no one else. Only fools believe they speak for a majority.

Why are world ranks not account bound? I’m almost more surprised that sPvP is account bound but WvW isn’t, because in WvW your profession’s role is more homogenized due to the massive scale of objectives and siege weaponry, whereas in sPvP your profession is very important.

In other words, you can be almost equally effective in WvW as an experienced level 80 Necromancer or a newbie level 80 Mesmer, as long as you are a veteran WvW player. Whereas in sPvP, just because you are a veteran sPvP player does not mean you are going to be good on a newbie level 80 Mesmer if you’ve never touched the profession before.

Anyway, rambling aside, just make WvW account bound. You’ll encourage people to mix it up and not get burned out.

If WVW is as you say “due to the massive scale of objectives and siege weaponry [class matters less]”, then being able to pick different skill tracks on different characters is what would result in ‘mixing it up and not getting burned out’. Where in s/tpvp, class is the only thing you can change. If it was account bound, you would play wvw fundamentally the same on all your chars? That I don’t know.

Being an alt-aholic myself, I would like account bound because I don’t play enough to reach that “mixing it up” point with traits. Probably takes 40+ points to really make a difference in how you play, to get deep into a particular trait line? And even at that point, are people really going to make differentiating build decisions? Perhaps a supply oriented build (taking repair/build/supply masteries) versus a seige build (AC/Ballista/Seige damage) versus a guards build (off/def/mercanaries)? If anyone has actually done this on 3+ toons, I’d be very interested to hear what their experience was – find themselves playing the class they like the most anyways or perhaps they play the toon with the wxp skills they like the most?

NPCs controlling Siege Weapons

Thought this might make an interesting idea. Not sure entirely of how to implement it, but the idea could add some balance between smaller servers facing larger servers.

While Outnumbered, a player placing siege could have the option of allowing a friendly NPC to operate the siege weapon in place of the player. This would be exclusive to AC’s and ballista, though. (Maybe the flame rams too).

Maybe buff the damage an NPC can do with the siege, but limit the time the NPC can control the siege?

Food for thought.

+1. On our list. Seriously though, we have already been making small fixes to mouse selection. We have a whole page dedicated to targeting issues we plan to fix. How about the issue where you cant select targets through invisible walls. i.e. the dividing walls between side points and keep in Forest.

I drive a liquid-cooled Alienware Aurora R3 with an i7 2700k CPU overclocked to 4GHz. It has 8 GB of 1866 RAM and 2x Nvidia GTX 560 ti SLI. My monitor is a 23" 1080p Alienware 3D monitor. I am an experienced high end PC enthusiast and overclocker. You are probably having issues with your high end Nvidia based system in GW2, especially if you are running SLI.

I also play GW2 on my Alienware M14x laptop. It has a GT 650M 2Gb, 16GB 1600 MHz memory and an i7 3820QM processory and a 512 GB SSD. It runs GW2 quite well but the 1600×900 screen is a bit small for the GW2 map.

How to get good, stable performance in GW2 from your high end PC:

1. GW2 is very demanding on your high end system and as such will make your system run hotter than most older games. Heat is the enemy, you must address the overall heat of your system.

2. You should first examine your fan speed settings in your system BIOS. Not just your CPU fan but your chassis fans as well. It doesnt matter how good the cooling is on your CPU and GPUs if the chassis airflow is insufficient. Automatic fan speed settings for chassis or case fans are often insufficient. You may need to increase the fan speeds of your chassis or case fans. I would suggest settings between 25 and 75%. Leave your CPU fan speed on Auto.

3. A push-me, pull-me case fan setup is best. You need to pull air in to the front of your pc and push it out the back. Make sure that there is a fan behind your PCI bus or video cards and one in front of your hard drives.

4. The fans and heat sinks on your video cards wont work if there is not sufficient airflow through and around your video cards. Try to space your video cards at least one slot apart. If possible.

5. DO NOT overlock your video cards unless it is a factory overclock. Make sure you have extra cpu cooling if you are going to overclock your CPU. I recommend a factory CPU overclock unless you have a lot of $$, patience and time.

6. Do not exceed the specs of your power supply. If your system keeps crashing on boot or wont boot at all, your power supply may not be up to the challenge. If you are going to upgrade your GPU or CPU, review the power requirements of the new components carefully before purchasing them to see if they are compatible with your existing motherboard and power supply.

7. Get a can of compressed air, open up your case and carefully blow all of the dust out of your system.

8. Use only high quality, highly rated components. A good resource to determine what you should buy is http://www.anandtech.com/. A good motto to follow is no bucks, no buck Rogers.

9. Reduce the ambient temperature in the room where your PC is to about 72-76 F. That will make a huge difference. It doesnt matter how much cooling you have if it is 85 degrees in the room where your high end PC is.

10. If you are running GW2 on a laptop, try a laptop cooler and whatever you do, DO NOT OVERLOCK YOUR LAPTOP GPU OR CPU. Gaming laptops are very tightly specced. Overclocking a laptop usually results in damaged components. Look for other means to increase performance on your laptop (see below). If you are running GW2 on an Alienware M14x, use the AW factory driver and wait until there is a WHQL driver available (preferably from dell) before you upgrade.

11. MSconfig is your friend. Use it to disable unneeded memory resident programs that are using up your ram and burning up cpu cycles. You can get a 10-15% speed boost just by using MSconfig. Turn off all auto-updaters except your virus protection including java, quicktime, itunes, adobe, office, windows update etc. Disable all CD/DVD programs including roxio and power dvd. These programs will run fine without them.

12. Use reliable virus and spyware detection and prevention and regularly scan your system for viruses and spyware.

13. Remove all unecessary software, browser plugins, desktop enhancements etc. None of them will help GW2 run faster and are likely to slow it down.

14. Close all programs while running GW2, especially browsers with multiple tabs open. Browsers can use a ton of memory, cpu cycles and bandwidth.

15. I am running the Nvidia 306.2 Beta driver. You should run that driver or a newer one to get the most out of GW2 and your Nvidia GPU.

Do not assume that because you paid big $$ for that high end PC, you do not have to take the time to optimize it for a game like GW2. Take some time and perform the steps above and you will notice a significant increase in performance and stability in GW2.

I am getting about 40-80 fps at 1080p on high (autodetect) settings everywhere including wvwvw. My 3DMark 11 scores for my desktop:

WvW - Workers not to respond to F key

The workers often stand on top of supply depots. When you go for resupply and hit F key you often get the worker to greet you instead of getting supplies.

Workers never have anything of interesting to say and they refuse to take orders from me like “go repair the gates”.

Suggestion
Remove ability to activate (F key) workers and guards.

Yes OMG please add trait profiles. GW1 customization was amazing. I HATE being FORCED to teleport to cities to talk to trait trainers and spend almost 10 minutes respec’ing traits.

Please bring back what made GW1 great.

With build saving system I’m referring to the GW1 feature which let you save several different builds and switch from one to another quickly and without taxes.

I’ve seen people writting about it in some threads but haven’t seen any response from a dev yet. I’d like such a handy tool to be implemented.

If there’s a reference about a dev talking about it in the forums I’d be grateful if anyone could paste here the link of that thread. If not, would be nice to hear a response from a dev concerning this matter.

Running away doesn’t make you a good 1v1 class either. I’ve duelled one thief in spvp that used mass shadowstep and he won against me engineer, but after a few rounds I learned his build and he didn’t stand a chance. I’ve met very good roaming thieves in WvW but I haven’t lost as engineer yet. If you want to defeat an engineer you have to apply constant pressure, and thieves cannot. Once they stealth they give engineer time to recover and use his shields in preparation for stealth attack. And once the engineer gets confusion in the thief cannot do anything.

Accurate comment. An eng who knows what he is doing is almost unbeatable for a thief….

If stunbreaks actually broke technical stuns, IE: Knockbacks, Launches, Knockdowns upon using the stunbreak, I wouldn’t think “CC” warriors were overpowered or imbalanced in any form or way. They can dish out quite a lot of damage due to particular trait setup but at least they’re actually good.

The only really debatable thing about it being even remotely overpowered is how often and consistently they can do it. But, as many have stated, and I will state myself, it has it’s own share of counters to it and generally requires team play to make truly effective, which is really the only time it starts to feel OP rather than annoying as hell.

My ONLY complaint about stuns is using stunbreak against with knockbacks / launches / anything other than a stationary stun. Stunbreakers are broken / bugged in the way that if you immediately use it via fast reaction time, you’re still sitting there because you didn’t wait for the flopping animation to finish.

That IMO is absolutely terrible design because waiting around in a game where damage comes in so stupidly fast is asking to die and makes stunbreakers much less useful than they should be.

I don’t think the problem lays in the norn elite skill, but rather in the professions own elites. If they rather take elite that has long CD only for its stealth and dash then theres definetly wrong with the professions own Elites.

I feel sarcastic irony coming from this post. If I’m wrong then sorry. But it pretty much says “here are WvW badges for the PvE people!” As a response from a WvW player, “Where are my PvE dungeon tokens?”

Pretty funny. I worked to get my WvW badges for armor and I worked for my dungeon tokens for gear. So why should a PvE player work for their dungeon tokens but not have to work for WvW badges?

please add information about commanders to “B” menu
1) i want to see names of commanders, who are on maps (EB, borders…) before i join someone (there will be everybody who is in WvW maps with commander icon turned on)
2) add small voluntary message next to the commanders name in “B” menu, what is he/she doing – message is typed by commander – max letters can be 200 (for example:
Pavel: guild action, only guild members, please
Unstoppable Gar: taking camps
Thorakiel: support Dolyaks
Stormcaller: sieging towers


i think it could be handy and divide ppl to more groups than 1 massive zerg
or you wont be surprised, that commander is “only” carying Dolyaks
and leaders of guild actions could go with commander icon without fear, that a lot of random ppl will follow them ^^

“L2P” from a thief means:

Roll a thief and play around with stealth. Learn what thieves do by being the thief yourself so when you go back to your main you know their next move.

Once you understand the thief, fighting one will feel as though you are reading a book. Fights against them will feel so pathetic that you will wonder why you ever kittened about them in the first place. And if you are that good, their first attack will tell you everything about them.

Seriously, just try one out and tinker with them.

….. or something along those lines.
