The Tiny Yuno Sniper of Ebay [EBAY]
Hello, I wish to see some kind of global chat for all wxw maps, sometimes we don’t have any force in one boardland so we can see if there is someone alive in other maps without to move one by one and use the “/m hello, there is any group here?”.
This will be a good thing for defense too.
ps: sorry my english
Been down this road many a times with NADA!!! Just like requesting to have LA server specific for recruitment or even server chat. NADA!!!

We’re looking for players.
PM me here or ING.
Team chat is just dying to be changed to this, as having both Team chat and Map chat is a little redundant.
If something this small isn’t part of this mythical “Overhaul” then I don’t know what they’re smoking.
I’d rather see a World Chat where everyone from each server can talk to each other.
Team chat being server can talk to each other even on other maps
And Map chat server talking on that specific map.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2

Beta in late 2016?
Wow, just wow. ….
Your name fits so well here, ty…
Tacktical Killers [TK]
We’re looking for players.
PM me here or ING.
That’s probably 9 months till Beta. We probably won’t see anything until 2017.
Honestly, the only reason I’m hanging around this game any more is for the same reason that people slow down when passing a traffic accident: You don’t really want to look, but you just can’t help yourself…..
WvW never made it out of Beta. Welcome to the Eternal Betagrounds.
Since the launch of HoT there have been many complaints about the state of balance in WvW. Based on what we know so far, most of these will be largely unaffected by the balance patch. A lot of this revolves around the excessive amount of CC and damage in the game, and how it seriously hampers frontlines, strongly enforcing a playstyle which no one really enjoys.
For all its complexity, the tactics used in WvW can be roughly broken down to just two approaches – melee focused and range focused (also termed “pirate ship”). When I label a skill *problematic" it’s because it strongly enforces the latter.
The following is an unexhaustive list of some of the skills and traits currently ruining fights in WvW and some proposed tweaks.
I’ve based this on large scale fights (15+). Many of the things listed below become worse the larger the fight gets.
- Coalescence of ruin: The damage is way too high. We all know this. There’s no reason to put a lengthly explanation here. I have 3 alternative suggestions for this one.
(1) reduce the damage. Simple, yet effective. Drop the damage modifiers down to 1.25/1.50/1.75 for the three hits. Those are entirely reasonable numbers (maybe not by HoT standards, but Lightning Surge is 1.3 for comparison).
(2) Make it reflectable. A big part of the issue is that this skill offers very little counterplay. If it could be reflected, you would no longer be rewarded optimally for spamming it, and we’d have a reliable defense against it.
(3) Invert the damage so that the first hit is the strongest.
Any one of those would be great.
- Cruel Repercussion: This trait deserves its own bullet point because it’s so completely out of proportion. 50% damage increase is ridiculous – especially considering how easy it is to proc this when you need it in WvW. This trait needs to die. I have no other solution.
- Herald in general: Due to their previously unheard of ability to passively buff allies (and themselves), herald has singlehandedly been responsible for a large portion of the absurd damage increase that we’ve seen in the game.
A possible solution for the boons stacking (something I’ve suggested before) is to make the active facet itself shared with allies instead of the boons. I.e. if I’m in a party with a revenant with Facet of Strength active, the facet is applied to me and pulses strength. This prevents people from simply stacking multiple revenants in a party for permanent 25 might because the facets would just override eachother.
This would retain their ability to stack permanent might (fewer stacks), fury, regen, swiftness, and to be honest, I still think that’s too much – the passive buffing is just not a good thing for the game.
- Gravity well: Firstly, it’s an issue that it’s a pulsing hard CC. Anyone caught in it without stab or invulns is practically guaranteed to die. But there’s an even bigger issue. It ticks immediately when cast, making the first tick essentially unavoidable. Two possible easy fixes would be:
(1) first tick is delayed 1 second. This would allow players to react to the animation on the ground or
(2) the first tick is a daze instead of a knockdown. Wouldn’t solve its impact on stability management, but it would allow people without stability to react after being dazed.
- Hunter’s Ward: The concept of uncrossable barriers is fine when it comes in the form of lines. You can easily walk around them on the ground, but if you don’t see them they only take 1 stack of stab. The wards created by this skill will easily rip 5 (or more) stacks of stability off an entire frontline. That’s completely unreasonable. Ideally, I’d want the whole uncrossable barrier ring removed (from Dragon’s Maw as well) but I’d settle for an internal cooldown that prevents the barriers from taking more than 1 stack of stability from a player.
- Eye for an Eye: A big part of WvW play is trying to CC people before you push (to put them in combat and maybe catch a few in the CC). Commonly, this is done with static field. Using static on a group with revs in it is currently an absolute nightmare for eles. You will proc so many taunts that you’re often forced to either mist form or blink out because you can’t just stun break all of them. On top of that, taunt is an extremely strong condition in WvW compared to the other automatic CC reflecting traits (from mesmer and necro).
My solution? Remove the trait. Remove all the silly passive life savers. They have no place in a competitive game. However, since that’s probably unlikely, reduce the taunt duration to 1 second and give it a longer cooldown. At least this way you will be able to wait out 1 or 2 procs without having to blow your utilities and the other group would have to make a conscious decision to push you since they wouldn’t be able to just autoattack you down from 1500 range in that timeframe.
- Dragonhunter traps: Not only do these deal way too much damage, the fact that you can simply stack a ridiculous amount of them on top of each other and instantly kill anyone that triggers them is beyond silly. Traps need to either
(1) have a visual tell similar to necro marks (this would be my prefered solution) or
(2) despawn when the caster is more than x range away from them and after a fairly short time period (50 – 70% of their recharge seems fair).
- Spear of justice: Pulls have always been a bit of a dirty tactic in WvW, but it’s been reasonably kept in check because the two main sources (mesmer focus and engi tool kit) don’t contribute much else to the fight, so they aren’t seen too much. With pulling skills on guardian (which there are a lot of in WvW) you’re just further enforcing boring, no-skill tactics.
Additionally, the visual tell is not clear enough.
Proposed solution: Remove the pull effect from the skill. If not that, remove the “link” after the target dodges once. This way, you’ll have a way to avoid it if you notice the effect after you’ve been hit. Also, it should at least be limited to 1 target.
- (pre-emptively) Basilisk Venom: We’ll see how this pans out but I can imagine a resurgence of venom share is coming. Considering how reliant guardians are on blocks right now that’s probably not going to end well.
On top of what’s listed, I’d also like to see a significant buff to stability. Even with nerfs to the biggest offending CC skills, the sheer amount of effects that rip 1 stack off you makes stab extremely weak in the meta we have now.
For example, a limit to how often you can lose a stack would be a great addition to the game. If you could only lose 2 stack of stability to CC every second (random numbers), not only would it require more coordination to use CC to its full effect, it would give frontlines time to actually react when their stab gets stripped.
And finally, an honorable mention that does not fit the skill/trait criteria:
- Banners: Let’s be real, they’re extremely poorly thought out. One of the biggest complaints of WvW players over the years has been open-field siege, and now you give us movable siege weapons? Not a good idea. Since I doubt Anet will remove them, I’ll suggest this:
Connect them to objectives. They can only be used inside the objective in which they’re spawned and will disappear if you move them outside.
On top of these specifics, I’m of the opinion that the overall damage output in WvW since HoT (actually since the specialization update in June, but HoT made it so much worse) is way too high, but we’ll save that discussion for another day.
Thoughts?
Thx.
Is there still something to debate?
The idea of having 3 gigantic borderland maps in each tier just doesn’t work. Maybe it would be better if there was only 1 copy of it per tier or maybe it would be better with a different and much smaller map.
At the least, Tyler shed some light on the darkness of what is considered “healthy” and on the darkness of what is considered “intentionlly exclude players”.
^Yes, at this point they’re definitely kitten’d if they do, kitten’d if they don’t.
There was a lot of signs that they were trying to make wvw more inclusive and welcoming to players (in their minds ofc), remember the reset move debacle and all the talk about metrics and how more people would play on sat etc etc.
It would probably help if they implemented big changes temporarily if blind metrics are all they are gonna go by. Then there is no shame in resetting things back to the way they were when they realize the metrics were slightly…….wayyy off.
When you own a business you never never never shaft your loyal, old patients (customers) for the sake of getting more more more. They are the ones that keep the lights on while the new put the food on the table.
I agree about having test runs for big changes, especially since they big update is being pushed back to who knows when. I posted several times that the rez changes need to be tested out first, and player feedback and concerns taken into consideration before its fully implemented. Just tossing out a giant update with untested features…well we’ve been down that road before…
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.
>Class Balance is a Joke<
I want to add something to the mix here.
Some of game skills use f4 skills, yes?
Ok, under your left palm on most badly made keyboards is the ALT key.
Many times lately I have palmed over the ALT key while using my f4 skill and VIOLA, game over.
Anet is the issue, their logic about keyboard layout and use is abysmal
If they want people not to seemingly purposefully abuse alt-f4, they should change it immediately to a combination NOT in the rotation of a skill use.
ALT-F4 should never have been used to “end the game” in the first place._*
You replied to a 4 month old thread to say that? “Alt f4” closes every program on your pc. It’s not controlled by anet. If you don’t want it to do that in-game, re-map it yourself. I personally don’t use alt as a modifier. And I don’t use the fuction keys either. My ele attunements are 1234. My g-15 keyboard also lets me disable the left windows key easily.
I’m excluded from ever getting legendary armor because its locked behind pve and raids… Wish anet would stop excluding me from getting legendary armor by making a way to be able to get it in the one game mode that I actually enjoy. WvW
Who needs stat changing legendary armor more? The pve’ers that mainly run full zerker everything or the wvw players that after the meta changes have to buy/craft more gear just to keep up?
whatever

I still think there should be a guild only tag. Give it a different icon like the mentor tags got. It would work for pve as well. It would just make it easier for guilds rally to do things on there own. This is guild wars and yet there is really no options for guilds to do there own thing if they throw up a tag. People see tags on the maps and they flock to them. In pve there are sometimes multiple tags on a map and sometimes more tags equal more confusion, even in wvw.
Its more of an easier way to let guilds do there own thing when they want to only do guild raids. Most guilds only raid a few hours and afterwards some people continue to play and others tag up to pug command when the raids are over.. Yes ctrl t works but you have to keep re-applying it if you have to call targets on other things. More of a QoL thing really..
Here is a pve SS.. Which tag am I suppose to follow I have no clue. Now if I had a guildie tagged up and only I could see the tag, since I’m in the same guild, I’d know exactly where to go on the map instead of asking which tag are we following..
We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.
The fact is guilds exclude players anyway. If it could be made invisible it would actually lead to less bad feelings if anything. It just seems like you’re making a unilateral decision about how you think the game should be played and ignoring the reality of the game.
Ohai, you must be new here (joke but you should get the point). Pretty much it’s how feel it’s been. My guild, while not being large, would have LOVED to have this feature nearly 2 years ago, or even a year ago, even when running small. And no, even for a group of 10 or less a ‘raid’ squad isn’t practical since targeting is all kinds of messed up that way, no idea if squads are any better as I despise the harassment spam of invites in pve as it is, and wouldn’t join a pug squad in wvw. We never really told people they weren’t welcome when we ran as a group, but as soon as we saw a pug that we hadn’t seen fight before, the reaction was basically oh great, here is someone that will be a hindrance (ok even now when we run 3-4 and of course no tag we say the same thing). This is precisely why we went out of our way to run tagless for ~10. And while it sounds mean, and kinda is, randoms/pugs get treated as just disposable fodder. However, if they know how to fight, and how to follow a coordinated group? Then nothing at all against them. In fact, have had some fun runs that way, all of which were tagless runs, and it was never our nature to verbally attack people and tell them to go away, although one alternative tactic guilds do is to run far into a map, then ditch them by suddenly waypointing elsewhere, or intentionally running them into a group, and then bailing on them. Since this kind of behavior is already occurring, how this stance helps anyone is beyond me.
That cannot be enjoyable to those already excluded. If a guild wants to run tagless now, and they can and do, it’s the same as if the commander tag just wasn’t visible to non-guild or non-squad. But hey, the way I loved WvW is pretty much a disaster at this point, with the fun far more sparse, so it doesn’t really matter anymore even if you did implement this kind of feature. Obviously that doesn’t stop me from commenting.
Edit: So I sound less like I’m attacking a specific Dev and don’t want to contribute to them being afraid to post a response >.>, and not wanting to shoot the messenger. The response, which is so rare as to be a shock, is appreciated, just not the message, as it doesn’t quite mesh with what is already done.
Edit @ Azazel: If you see this, this is ALREADY done A LOT. It’s been very common. Why shouldn’t a guild be able to have a sign they themselves can see, without having a giant sign calling to everyone else? When those random people show up, it can ruin the gameplay for the guild, and see above for what happens then.

I like them though i find that some skills that work off of rezing may become even more useless once the cant rez full downs in combat. I think though effects should be updated some in wvw.
It pushes the game to a bit more “hardcore” that ppl love to say they are but realy they are not.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
The ideal is to make death some what painful to not simply zomby into a fight and simply burn out but at the same time not make it so painful that no one wants to die at all. 1 point is not enofe to swing a week but it dose add some meaning to getting kills and dieing.

Listen guys they worked on the overhaul for over a year already and still couldnt find an answer to things like population imbalance etc.
This should be more than enough proof they dont know what to do with the gamemode. So they’ll do something and when its ready we will be told its to late to change anything, enjoy whatever they came up with.
So just leave the game, leave the forums, let the game(mode) die its natural death and move on in life. Play some other games, go out etc, just leave this ship and dont force yourself to do something you dont like.
If you have any hope left just check out on GW2 news once in a few weeks and come back when you feel like Anet improved anything.
If you keep playing while complaining on the forums Anet wont care since you are active players and thats what they care about.
i’d take oldschool wvw over sex with a thousand virgins
Me too, but then again I’m female so 1000 male virgins doesn’t sound like too much fun.
Airships and banners are disabled unless Outnumbered Buff is active.
Even just did the planning and resolution for you guys, it’s just time write the code and add it to the next iteration.
This is an amazing idea!!!
it would still support defending and help the numbers game. giving it to the outnumbered team provides a fair chance in a successful defense without it being abused by the larger team.
Except it is abusable and goes against Anet’s design philosophy around the ‘Outnumbered’ buff.
If a larger force is attacking SMC, what stops a large, organized group from leaving EB, having someone activate the AC130 gunship, E-waypoint, and then have everyone waypoint back in? Anet doesn’t want players yelling at other players just to get a buff, thats why they refuse to make the Outmanned buff give any worthwhile stat increases.
And the idea also says that guild groups big enough to even afford the upgrade cant use it, they have to leave it slotted and hope someone uses it for them. They don’t get to reap the reward of all their farming.
This solution mitigates a problem while causing 3 more.
Very valid points and i support this thread 100 % WvW for some of us is all we do its our whole Guild Wars 2 experience. I would like to add one more comment. A rotation of the new desert BL’s with the Old alpine BL maps. rotate every 2 weeks to keep things fresh and to bring back the richness of those old but good maps.

Hello, I am the guild leader of a large WvW guild that has played in gw2 since beta. We currently reside on TC. I am also the owner of a lvl 52 guild hall, therefore I have access to all the buffs in the war room. I am also the one who started the movement to address server statuses with the advent of mega servers. I enumerate my background to give credence to my post and to demonstrate my impartiality in the discussion.
While I think the intentions behind the War Room upgrades was to create a meaningful reason for guilds to invest and upgrade their guild hall who are focused primarily on WvW I think a necessary discussion must be undergone to re-evaluate the nature of these upgrades and their current outsized impact in WvW.
Server statuses are dropping at an alarming rate, to put this in perspective, before the expansion of GW2 the populations were extraordinarily higher. A game that has not had an expansion in years had higher WvW populations than one a few months after an expansion with new maps, mechanics, and class specializations, I cannot think of anything more indicative of failure than this.
There have been numerous posts elaborating on the failures of the borderland map, the break bar mechanics in wvw, and other things. However, what needs to be addressed immediately are the War Room Upgrades. It is destroying one of the only vestiges us WvW players have left, fair and fun fights against one another. To put it bluntly the integrity of WvW is at stake as a competitive gamemode all because people did not realize the magnitude and abuse that such upgrades could bring when employed by serious WvW guilds.
In a 50man group, each person makes up 2% of the overall raid, outside of the driver each player contributes a fairly standard amount to the outcome of each encounter. However, with the advent of banners, one player utilizing but a few skills can have an outsized impact on the fight as a whole well outside of their 2% margin. In fact, groups are running around with 3-4 of the banners in large scale fights, fights of 100 players are being decided by 3-4 players and forcing those who want fair and fun fights that require strategy, skill, and teamwork to use these banners if they want to have a chance to stand against. Quite simply it is forcing players who want competitive and engaging game play to utilize the same perverse tactics simply to play in the gamemode they enjoy. All this is doing is driving players away from the game mode.
This needs to be addressed immediately. We must remove or severely reduce the overall effectiveness of these banners before it is too late. Simply telling players to target banners, Moa Banners, run your own banners, etc is not a solution, it is a callous attitude that is leading towards the destruction of the only reason most of us play this game, FIGHTS!
Furthermore, the broken nature of War Room Upgrades is not limited to just banners, but the aerial strike, amongst others. The purpose of this post is to start meaningful dialogue to address this dire situation before it is too late. Please bump this post or support this post to gain it attention, views, and more importantly a response.

I spent a bit of time thinking about it today and took a decision. I’m gonna go “super casual” until the overhaul is released, maybe pvp sometimes.
It’s been a nice game for the 2 first years but for the last 6 months the game has been frustrating me almost as much in WvW than in PvP. over the years did a lot of complaining but also defended and congratulated Anet a lot for certain things they have done.
I got my money’s worth out of the initial game purchase but certainly not out of the money I spent on gems and HoT.
Meanwhile I’ll go buy a ps4.
I’ll be back to see how things evolve every now and then (hopefully not only to complain). Later!
Possibly they have told us the truth all along:
They HAD been working on the overhaul for an entire year, and planned to release it just after HOT. BUT…. the changes they showcased with the expansion were so poorly received that they’ve ditched their plans and are going back to redesign yet again. (That may not be the worst outcome.)
My guess is their development time table for WvW upgrades slid a few months. They probably put what was mostly working into HoT and delayed the other work until they had more time to finish it.
Development timelines are mostly guesstimates since it is nearly impossible to properly estimate development effort. They probably shot for most of the WvW work to be in HoT but likely just had to pull the cord and do a partial delivery.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Doom doom doom doom doom,
doom doom do DOOM,
DOOOM doom do-doom,
DOOM do-doom doom doooom,
doom doom dooom, do-do-DOOOM!
Personally I checked out the new desert BL map and its amazing, but players are correct in the fact that it is “too big” for the purpose it serves. To save it? I would suggest more WP’s. Some of them for teams (servers only), and perhaps some more dangerous by being open for all to use. No one want’s to spend most of their time trying to get to where the action is. WvW’ers want to fight!
I’m not sure why we have two maps other than something to do while waiting on player map que. If it was up to me I’d add a few more tweaks to the new map with a center capture point and bring in more of a EB set up and use just the one map.
Other than that someone needs to get off their kitten and get it done. We’ve waited long enough and broke and unfinished is not going to suffice….. However if you bring in gliding also…I’m pretty sure development will be cheered for it for months to come.
Also superior siege being moved to a vendor was a nice step in the right direction.

Jajaja, but I just threw a whole bunch more kittens in another post.
Please help, I’m losing hope in Anet.
Edit: They should replace the airships with giant salt shakers that drop hundreds of kittens into the courtyard… everyone would actually die it’s so fluffy!

have you guys seen all the different maps ANET has worked on but never put in game? Check out any of WoodenPotatoes Tyria3D videos like https://youtu.be/R-SYZDpDNq8 from over last summer for another trip down wasted potential lane. There are a ton of them and some even look they would work TDM/KotH arena idea.
I think the OP’s # of maps and point values for them sound about right given current populations but it would need a way to shrink or grow as active WvW population changes, maybe even within real time, a different # of maps available outside of primetime hours?
One thing I wonder about is how ANET would develop and enhance community in this kind of situation. Maybe if they made the different maps themed up to different playstyles but TBH, the best thing about WvW is all the different playstyles feeding off each other so then maybe making the rewards targeted to different community types? I don’t know, I just want to be able to find maps to play on with people of similar mind and focus as me, people I enjoy playing with and know the habits of but might not be in my guild or friends list. That is a much harder nut to crack I fear but maybe their megasever algorithm is working on it.
Xyleia Luxuria / Sweet Little Agony / Morning Glory Wine / Precious Illusionz /
Near Fanstastica /Ocean at the End / Blue Eyed Hexe / Andro Queen / Indie Cindee . . .
I had no issue with a player rezzing another player but the mass rally bot was a pain. The new desert map is not a total loss if its made the sole map and gets some WP tweaks. A lot of good work went into it…but its missing gliding which would make it epic!
