Ascalonian Catacombs path 1. Burrow montage, I keep getting obstructed message even if Im right in front of the target burrow with no enemies in front of me. Tried longbow plus shortbow. Melee however is fine though. Please try it and fix it. Thanks.
Hyena ally doesn’t respond to F1 key when you target an enemy. It just goes to the closest enemy that it can attack. YOLO Hyena
please fix this anet i need it for my completion. LOL
Ever since the patch people have been crying over GW1 players getting boosts for the 50/50 achievements that they have done. Mind you, on Hall of Monument we got items till rank 30. From 31-50 are just grind from hardcore players, which took years to get. Before this expansion everyone else just did it for the title. Now that the achievements have been introduced, everyones mad about it. I think achievements 31-50 for old players should be compensated, and no i am not one of them, because i know how many years it takes to get that title.
What if we told you we get a pre cursor out of it? LOL!!! Bunch of cry babies.
There are plenty of players with more experience, but I play a Guardian, Ranger, Warrior, Thief, and Mesmer at level 80, so I have an opinion.
Ranger has the deepest and widest variety of issue imho… I’ll tell you why I think this happened.
During beta and when the game first launched, there was a small fraction of the experience with the game as there currently is. Dungeons for example were regarded as incredibly hard to the point were this forum was flooded with complaints about how hard they were. ANet stuck to their guns and said that feedback from their beta-testers told them if anything the dungeons would need to be very slightly harder, and certainly not easier.
2 Rangers with their pets could duo some dungeon content because two pets could tank, and any tanking of any content was perceived as inherently broken, and so “fixes” were applied… Today there are a wide range of videos showing most classes soloing dungeon content… This issue of Rangers duo-ing content was even cited recently as an issue for Rangers, as apparently people soloing content is being ignored by ANet.
The issue was while nobody had any experience with the game, Rangers had an advantage in PvE because of pets.
On top of this, in the early betas nobody did any melee because range for far safer and offered no disadvantage. Then all range damage was nerfed across the board and this impacted Rangers in a way that was never recovered from.
In PvP, you have a similar situation of nobody having any experience with their class… Some classes that went on to be strong in PvP were initially screamed as being completely broke. Mesmers and Elementalists were perfect examples. Nobody knew what you were meant to do with a Mesmer in either PvE or PvP. The forums were filled with “what’s the point of illusions they can’t tank for kitten”. Elementalist were commonly believe to be broken in all ways as the community had no notion of synergy of play and builds.
Rangers at a first glance are all about range if you think no deeper. The first Rangers had an idea of what they were meant to be doing, and as it happens when you have a whole bunch of people no sure what they’re doing in PvP, the guys with the bows and pets mop the floor with everybody else… This was balanced so that Rangers didn’t own everything they saw… Then the community figured out how to play, and the initial advantage range focused classes had was removed.
Rangers are a broken class because the basis of their design decisions are no longer valid in the current game. With every other class I play balance is an issue of numbers. With Rangers, the class does not integrate well into the game.
^ this is as accurate as it gets. Mesmer, ele, ranger, thief, necro, warrior, guardian, engineers. All classes has been pretty much nerf since beta. A few build are still viable though to some but are limited. But for this thread, i believe ranger got kitten on pretty hard by anet. Although, it is being noticed again by the devs it might get some balancing later on.
Carnagh is on spot though, when the game was released no one knew how to play their class and as a range class who excels in DPS and range, ranger has been label as OP, got tweaked and reworked. Now that you look back at rangers, and actually play them they are not that OP. Same with thieves, mesmers, elementalists, et ol classes. Yes I have played them all. Its just a matter of learning for each of these classes.
Just to clarify a bit, as Mike said there are numerous teams beyond our Living World teams, and some of them are working on much longer term projects which we’ll go into details on much further down the road.
It’s entirely possible some of the types of content which you might traditionally find in expansions would be released through an expansion in the future for Gw2, and it’s possible we’d try something different when it comes to integrating those type of releases.
We have no final plans one way or another about expansions at this time, and certainly haven’t ruled them out, it’s something we’ll discuss more in the future.
Edited to add: Our primary focus right now is on making the core Gw2 experience as strong and compelling as possible, we’ll release a blog post later this month detailing more specifically our plans for Gw2 in the second half of 2013.
Glad to hear the Devs are actually reading the forum and actually giving us some insight regarding future plans for GW2. Gradual contents are good as long as pieces come together in the long run. Cheers to that, and hopefully it all works out.
So basically add stuff that makes little or no sense just because it was in GW1?
Sky Pirates does make sense in the world, especially since it does seem to tie into the Molten Alliance line as well.Keep in mind that 250 years have passed, and many of the things happening back then don’t really have much to do with what is happening now.
As for the White Mantle however, it IS quite likely that they will play a larger role in the future, since they are still around.
Add stuff that MAKE sense. Sure molten alliance is nice because we need cross racial villains and Fire Legion only make sense to appear for revenge. Thats why i used White Mantle as an example because it is one of the oldest. Im saying there are a lot more better stories that could be implemented in game that would make sense like Tengu, White Mantle, Mursaat, The Forgottens, et ol that dates back from GW1 that could be expanded and need more explanation to begin with. They are the fundamentals in Tyria so why leave them behind.
1. Bad gameplay balance (Killed my fav class: Rangers)
2. I thought this game is supposed to be fun (No grinding)
3. Temporary contents (why oh why the kitten do they spend so much resources on these. Id rather get a full expansion than these story telling that doesn’t even make sense.)
My guess for Guild Wars 2 is that they will do Living World events till end of this year to keep the game alive. LOOOLLL!!!
First of all, I think all of the living world events updates are good for temporary content. But why does ANet make up these new stories that doesn’t even relate to Guild Wars? I mean Sky Pirates really? and their armor selling at the gem store is not even that great. Why can’t the Living Story team make use of what was in the previous Guild Wars and expand them. Example is The White Mantle, ancient Krytan group. Would be nice if they “terrorize” Kryta or the whole Tyria for revenge instead of these Sky Pirates.
What Im saying is why all these new stories when other stories from GW1 remain and could be expanded. I fell in love in Guild Wars because of its story telling.
Here is a preview of what “costumes” in game should look like…
WHY do people keep assuming (or even thinking) that we will SPEND APs at all?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/july-09-2013/
I am fully aware about what people are talking about. But there is NOTHING on that page that even suggests that we will SPEND APs.
Account Achievement Reward System
Put your account achievement points to good use! From now on, you’ll be able to unlock rewards like exclusive new armor skins, weapon skins, and permanent account bonuses as you earn achievement points on your account. You’ll also earn laurels, gems, gold, powerful items, and PvP and WvW rewards as your achievement score grows. These rewards will be retroactively awarded for any tiers of account achievement rewards you’ve already earned on your account.Sounds like the HOM: you open up items the more points you have.
Exactly what I was thinking. Since achievement points you get them by playing the game. It’ll be like another currency to me it seems. Where you can probably exchange them for items, skins, weapons, armors et ol. Or trade perhaps with laurel. Well at least we have another option to get items. Im just wondering how many options do we have in terms of these item skins plus the stats (if they even have stats) LOL!
How much do these permanent achievements cost per item. They said there will be a lot of new unlocks for your achievements. But does anyone actually know or have any clue how much these costs?
Or would it be like:
1 set of item = 50 ectos + 50 laurels+ 1 gold+ 1000 achievement points
ROFL!!!
I hope ANet would rethink this again or the whole NCSoft team, Cantha is by far one of the best installment in GW1 and has one of the best stories. I mean the amount of work they put into that, the skills, the environment. I would be really disappointed if they didn’t have Cantha in GW2. I know there are other races out there but this region is part of Tyria that should be explore. Likewise on Elona.
1. Please address the 1hand sword chain attack (1) to not be rooted in place. I imagine sword to be agile for rangers since both skill 2 and 3 to be agile skills. I can say the same thing for Axe off hand, please pay a visit to whirling defense. If this could be traited so that projectiles backfire then that would be nice cause honestly, no one uses this skill at all. Probably except for PVE.
2. Also, why the nerf on our pets when they clearly stated that our pets dmg equals to i believe 30%-40% of our total dmg. That’s another excuse to nerf our dmg when there are so little viable builds already.
3. ANNNNDDDD…. LASTLY please, let us know your plan for the ranger class. We are a DPS class and should be agile. Every second should give Rangers an advantage in battle, yet our skills and the mechanic is not made for that. Give us some insight on why Rangers seem like we are so left behind.
Im a huge ranger fan in guild wars 1, hopefully they shed some light on us.
Are you kittening kidding me right now? what the kitten you morons talking about thieves being OP, if one class can out last you chances are they have no kittening damage cause they are built around sustaining. S/D thieves are meant to annoy the kitten out of you, and are meant to caught you off guard when you use your boons.
Everytime I look into thieves’ forum all I see are a bunch of noobs QQ ing and crying. Its like they get nightmares when they go to sleep because they died from a thief in game. Look at mesmers and elementalists, even engineers if traited right. What boons do we have in our skills or traits that give us different range of boons like other classes? Nerf thieves please.
Sticky note this thread. This is the most revolutionary build I have ever encountered in the forum, this is an eye opener to our fellow thieves.
As we all know we are the only class in game that only has 1 mechanic (and warrior), which is to steal from foes since day 1. Steal is a nice stun breaker, and since the recent patch we can now have more access to this mechanic and stun breaker. But compare to other profession thief to me is too predictable and its mechanic should have a more range of usage. Also, whenever we steal and we don’t really need what we stole for the time being we ended up wasting this mechanic and have to wait for its CD.
So I thought, since we only have F1 as steal F2, F3, F4 should be usable to us by making it an open slot or an inventory slot as you can say where we can STORE what we stole from others, therefore giving us a wide range and tactical decisioning when we use these stolen items. Hope ANet look into this, shed some light.
I really really want this to be consider by ANet, physically it looks good to guardians and it make sense and we really need a good range weapon here, much better than the scepter. I mean we’re wearing heavy armor playing around with a wand at the battle field, really? So here it is.
Spear Skill
Range 900
Flight to target 0.5 second/ attack
One Hand (Main)
1. Throw (projectile) – Throw your spear at your foe.
-Mighty Throw (projectile) – Throw your spear with might. Gain 1 stack of Might for 3 seconds.(deals better damage than first skills, of course.)
-Banish (projectile) – Deals more damage the further your enemy is.
2. Redemption Symbol (water field) – Create a symbol that cleanses 1 condition for you and your allies( first pulse only). Last 4 seconds.
*Animation: Guardian holding his spear in front of him with both hands and creates a symbol by hitting the ground with it.
3. Foefire’s Spear – Throw your spear and inflict burning for 2 seconds.
OR
3. “To battle” (YES its a shout) – you and nearby allies gain swiftness for 3 seconds.
OMG I just hope this doesn’t get a good nerf. I run beastmaster build for my ranger in GW1 too as well.
I just hope ANet look into pet animations cause when they attack they stop for a split second even with Sick ’em on the animation is not as smooth.
I think alot of frustration would disappear if pets just could cast their abilties on the move instead of having to pause all the time(maybe reduce dmg abit tho), sure it could probably look stupid with current animations but would feel ALOT more fluid.
AI doesn’t seem all that bad but the animations >_<…
Also give me control of all the pets 4 skills(or – the basic attack) + attack/return to me
This is like asking ANet for a miracle. Pets animation is so broken right now even with sick em for beastmaster build to maximize damage output they still stop first THEN attack. I dont mind damage nerf by 20%-40% for pets as long as they could move and attack at the same time, I think this would make a lot of rangers happy with pets. A very simple suggestion or at least give us a trait for our pets for it.
I completely agree with you. I like that daze idea.
Thank you, Im trying to be fair here for both melee and range type ranger roles. How i see it for rangers:
Melee = conditions
Range = bursts
And i actually favour that daze proc for storm spirit then blind if ever.
For a more “advanced” skill in the skill tree, it doesn’t do much does it? :\
it really suck so bad. i mean swiftness on hit as a benefit, i dont know maybe good for running away or chasing but really just a waste of slot.
LOL had to google Apian too.
I would agree with everyone else in here. A monkey pet would be better if anything or any mammal punching another player in the face would be kittening awesome.
I agree, i just posted a thread about storm spirit specifically. But spirit build right now is not viable. Specially for our fellow melee rangers who have limited utilities to bring like signet build or spirit. But then again, spirits die too quickly even with this buff that ANet provided, its no where near feasible. Spirits shouldnt even have a health bar on them cause they’re spirits what the kitten ANet? AT LEAST make them invulnerable to conditions for kitten’s sake to mitigate some damage. AND please… change storm spirits benefit. Swiftness really?
“Summon a storm spirit that grants nearby allies a chance to gain swiftness when attacking.”
SWIFTNESS really? kitten that. ANet please change the benefit for this, the skill activation is great punishing those who come close to a ranger but thats pretty much it.
A few suggestions would be:
-Grants lightning strike with CD of 10 seconds. Benefit burst rangers.
-Dazes foe for 2 seconds. Show some love for melee rangers. CD of 10 seconds.
-Attack blind foe for 5 seconds. CD of 10 seconds. Benefit both melee and range type rangers.
Hello everyone, Im currently looking for new members to join my guild. This guild is currently new and looking for members who share similar interest as me, as the name suggests Im looking for a more mature crowd who loves to play and chat at the same time. I believe in communication builds relation.
My target members are those who plays a few times weekly and are PVP and PVE focus, but most importantly must be a loyal guild member. Thank you for your time and if anyone is interested and would like to inquire email me in game @ Firstborn Sigma.
Thank you
I actually agree for the WVW buildings part. People should be compensated for defending a keep from invaders. This way, it would also occur to the commanders how to distribute their army properly. If they fail they would be penalize and the other team has a chance to gather up points. I think that’s a really good idea.
Somehow I doubt it’s as common a drop as all that and probably has such a low cost because it’s A: butt ugly, and B: a longbow, which is kind of crappy on the only two professions that can even use it.
LOL!!^
Anyway, this is good since we’ve been asking ANet to make these unique bosses worth our while when they appear in the world. So good news that these bosses actually do drop unique items, thanks for confirming that. I have to agree with Substance though, that longbow is hella ugly, why is that worth 250g or whatever it is now. Final Rest looks kitten than that deformed child plays snow longbow from the shiverpeaks.
This is a good suggestion, ANet keeps mentioning how they want GW2 to be a living world. So why not make it like a real world and implement a night cycle in the game, together with some events unique to that cycle that can only occur during the night time. AND! maybe implement some Thief mechanics in there too
Visibility is the only problem, why not make it similar to GW1 model where you have a bubble around your character where you can see up to that bubble and have visibility of your surrounding during the night.
Imagine a Guardian in the night with its HOLY LIGHT OF JUSTICE!!!
But then again, a lot of people will cry about this visibility idea and would ask for a nerf on certain classes cause they can’t be beaten. LOL! GW2 players issue, bunch of cry babies.
(edited by AEFA.9035)
Would be nice if we have that option where we could crop the image of a picture we like for an emblem, for a more unique feeling and flexibility.
-Now about elementalists… All buff build? Open up with F3 > skill #4 > skill #5 > F1 > skill #3 > skill #4 > skill #5 = Dead.
-Elementalists low on health? F2> skill #5 > skill #4 damage reduced by 10% plus protections buff = -44% damage reduction.
ANet planning on looking at this? Or… is Elementalist meeting your expectations in terms of damage and survivability and 3/4 all out boon access?
Why are you dissing it on elementalists?
Take it out on mesmers, they’re even more annoying than your stealth.
its like playing Assassins creed trying to figure out which one is the target kill.
Also Confusion is empathy + backfire on steroids seriously who smart idea was it to make it so that thing stacks and not get removed after you’ve attack?
Like how blind works.
Still having trouble finding the real mesmer?
-In game press ESC > Options > Check Show Player Names > Uncheck Show all enemy names.
-Now about elementalists… All buff build? Open up with F3 > skill #4 > skill #5 > F1 > skill #3 > skill #4 > skill #5 = Dead.
-Elementalists low on health? F2> skill #5 > skill #4 damage reduced by 10% plus protections buff = -44% damage reduction.
I played all classes, for a light armor class who can stand toe to toe with guardian in terms of survivability that for me is pretty broken.
I suggest to please stop sharing post patch thieves build in the forum section. If I remember correctly, this has been addressed as well.
I for one have a few builds for post patch nerf, let’s keep that to ourselves and to those “OP thief” crowds.
“Thieves are expert in the shadow arts. They utilize stealth and shadowsteps to surprise and to get close to their target. " -http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Thief
ANet, if you’re going to exploit on stealth please give us more mobility if you want us to not abuse this mechanic that you implemented in the first place. The 3 second debuff should’ve been enough in the first place, why not make it so that while we’re in stealth and we “miss” our attack then we get out of stealth instead of increasing the debuff.
You listen to those who are crying about stealth thief but a simple kiting could make this stealth useless. If you take out one thing for us, then give us more option in terms of mobility cause each patch you nerf thieves.
I play thief and I agree we’re OP if you cant kite at all if you get hit by the first backstab. Ill say take out stealth for thieves and make us support skills instead to balance out the OPness. Maybe take out backstab too… or steal… or just take out thief in game…. Thanks ANet.
Awesome idea, since ANet want to practice community base in this game an idea like this would for sure get everyone together since it is a zone base achievement for everyone. I am from GW1 also, I don’t get why some of these are not implemented in the game in terms of working together.
Also since ANet has mentioned that some of their bosses haven’t been memorable, this is a great idea to exploit these bosses again and perhaps implement better rewards or SKIN drops that are unique to that boss. Cmon ANet… you want community base, you want all the hard work to pay off and the time invested in these models and arts, upgrade the little things that people would do and bring them all together. Sigh…
I second that, it also forces you to make a build similar to everyones. Since most of the current gears do not support other stat combinations.
Please change this daily combo KILL to “daily combo performed” it took me an hour to get 2 kills off of combos and most of the combos are not even able to kill a mob since they add “effects” to your skills. Also, this hinder us solo players who wants to play in our own. Consider also the time frame when and where people play in the game.
Daily dodger shouldnt that be in PVP instead?
Please consider some changes to these, and possibly others
I’ll get straight to the point. Champions need unique drops like unique skins, weapons, armor, crafting materials, etc.. As it stands, there are Champions, Dynamic Events, or Group Event monsters who no one bothers to care about like the ones in Cursed Shore which are too far away from other DEs or deserted maps in low level areas that no one goes to anymore. How often does the mob at Cathedral of Verdance gets killed compared to other temples? How often do players still swim under water to get into Whisper Bogs to kill that monster that hasn’t been touched in months?
In order to avoid the ghost town effect for maps and certain areas of maps, there needs to be incentive to go there. GW2 players need to know that it’s a good idea to go back to some osbcure part of the world Wychmire Swamp to hunt a Veteran or Champion there because they have a 1% chance of dropping a unique item that no other monsters drop. Isn’t this an obvious tradition from past MMOs that alured MMORPG gamers?
I agree with you on that, even for beginners we should at least get a low level rare loot from these “champions” that we kill during an event. Beginning levels are the main attraction for a new gamer in GW2 so why not stimulate the experience more by adding these “unique” drops or new skins at least by killing these champions. I hope ANet look into this matter, we can go back to low level zones, why not balance out the drops as well. i.e. level 80 going to level 5 zones to help friend. killed a champion, gets a weapon that fits his/her level. Everyone should be rewarded with “cool” looking weapons or armors, not just high level people.
I just wish we can use the skins that we bought in the gem store to other characters as well (given that they have the same type of armor) since they are account bound once you buy them. I mean for Hall of Monument rewards, we can get the skins and apply them as many times as we want, so why not for gem store skins as well?
I also agree with one of the comments at top, I wish we can put these skins away somewhere, rather than it sitting in our inventory or bank taking up space that way we can use these skins with one of our other characters.
Hello
Just recently bought "primevil armor’ skin sale at the store today, thought that once you buy the skin it is permanently account bound to your character which it is. But it isn’t reusable? I bought the skin with real money, and its not like it boosts my stats or anything either, shouldn’t this be at least reusable. In GW1 we are able to reuse the skins that we bought in store, so why not in here as well. I find it more attractive if it is.
Or is there any way to pass on my skin so I don’t need to keep buying primevil armor. I would appreciate it! Thanks
I hope for guild halls but no new races, at least not Tengus or Kodans. They don’t bring anything new to the game. A winged race would be cool not just some humanoid race with a feathered or furred skin
What winged race do you have in mind that are related to the story of GW? or even a new race that are featured in GW2 that would bring a story to the game? I can’t think of any right now.
And I agree about Guild Halls, we had that in GW1 as well and that’s a good meeting place for Guild members.
Hello ANet
Just wondering for GW1 players like my self who has some major knowledge about the game and its story if it would be possible, maybe, for future major upgrades in the game implement another race like the Tengu. I know Tengu made a major role in Factions and pretty much through out Tyria, I see that in the Sylvari lands Tengus are present and are a little mysterious in nature. This would be also a good time maybe to implement some of their weapons. Sorry for spoilers.
