1) you get full win rewards when moved to the other team
2) today when i did solo arena i waited between 1 and 50 seconds every time
(5x just 1 second wait time) and teamarena usually takes 3 to 6 min for me…
3) dont join the high rank players team and then wonder why enemy players leave and autobalance kicks in…. just join the low rank guys and you wont be transfered xDHow do we see the ranks of people before the game has ended and it is shown over the scoreboard?
you dont but after your first game of the day you see the ranks and from that point you always join the winner team…
you can see them from spectator before you join as well by viewing individual players.. often times it is BLATANTLY OBVIOUS which team is getting stacked cause they always have +1 player from ppl spamming the join button
Idk why they don’t just make it so you can’t enter the game until two people have queued up (always even team numbers). But again… it’s hotjoin… so no 1 curr.

Maybe adjust color for each mark? Red for Mark of Blood, blue for Chillbains, yellow for Putrid, and purple for Mark of Horror?
Also… this is my own opinion but Marks should not be able to be dodged through. If you enter a mark it should hit you regardless of any blocks, shields, aegis, or divine freakin intervention. It should hit you. With that said, the size of the mark would be up for debate seeing you make marks unblockable and possibly would be balanced at their current size if not just a little smaller.
Agreed with color changes for each mark…
Heck no @ can’t dodge marks… no travel time ranged attacks + unblockable isn’t enough already?

Overall… too many low risk, low skill, required high reward specs. Too many passive skills/traits which are too strong. Seriously… passive shouldn’t also be optimal. You should give up some efficiency to gain that no input required stuffs. Fix this and the community will huggles you. Lots and lots of huggles.

This is what I’ve been doing… go into your own boarderland’s WvW. You;ll have crafting stations + npcs + possibly a waypointed forge in your own gari. Log out/back in and it’ll put you back where you were before you went into WvW.
I’ve been doing this sort of thing for ages to get a mining pick, need to NPC loot, or whatever if I happen to run out.
I have been doing that too but that doesn’t work if your server’s WvW is full and you have to be in the queue. Besides, if too many people do that, that would impact your server’s WvW queue and people who want to do WvW would not be able to do so.
The queue might be an issue depending on what server you’re in, but most servers have seen a drop in WvW population as of late. Even if you do get in a queue it’s not as if that usually prevents you from playing the game while you wait (unless you’re waiting for a dung/fractal party or something).
IMO it’s not a big deal as long as you’re not afk-ing there for a long time (which people do atm anyways). Go in, do what you need to do quickly, and get out.

It is a big deal. And I’ll tell you why:
Because it’s there. It exists. It awards points that work towards an even greater reward, including gold, gems, pvp gear, gem shop boosters, wvw blueprints, laurels, account magic find/karma/experience/gold bonuses, etc.
It should be able to be completed without having to shun a particular build or class. Period.
A very very very small amount of points that add towards those greater rewards, yes. It’s still not very significant nor a big deal.
Inb4 something about achievement point leaderboards.

Yes retal > PP (8x retal damage is over 1k damage back to you without any added power) and 900 range =‘s med distance without any evades or stealth =’s >.<
I started out as a PP thief. We were all so innocent back then though…
In 1v1, retal. is fairly ineffective — especially against hard-hitting setups (e.g., 6-10k spammable Unloads). This should be fairly obvious. Besides, the only profession that can probably maintain its up-time to some benefit would be a Guardian, and they’d have to soak-up much more damage from ranged, and wouldn’t be able maintain gap-closing before “panic mode”. If they’re “bunker”, and can absorb the damage, then they’re not going to do much else. Now, if a different profession (e.g., engineer or ele) decides to spam AoEs on a group buffed with retal., then that’s a different story. :-)
As for no stealth or evades…? Stealth isn’t necessary for the play-style (while you’re in stealth, you’re not doing anything!), and evasion/mobility is more than adequate from Withdraw/Roll/Step or even Inf. Arrow.
In these fights, I probably wouldn’t have any issues on my P/P thief (been playing engineer). It has high & sustained ranged-damage, limited condition application, and great mobility. Melee would obviously hit much harder, but this event (from start to finish) looks to favor ranged IMO.
Coincidentally, I started with a Guardian. ;P
With those numbers you’re talking about WvW… against a glassy target… Going glass PP solo in WvW =‘s om nom nom free loot bag for other thieves (among other things). Who in the heck is eating the full unload if they don’t have reflection/retal? It’s so easy to mitigate with that long channel. PP does not have any mobility. Anyways we’re getting way off topic here, feel free to take this up in the thief forum. I’m sure they’ll find this entertaining as well.

the organisation it requires yes…its hard work to organise around 150 ppl.
i also count the we start to organise the event 15 mins before the event starts, helping ppl understand what to do and tricks to not die.
some of us also answer questions about the event and stuff, if you cant see that then you should stop playing these events.if you say that we dont have to well here is the answer to that aswell, we want to see ppl do it, its fun to do it and its fun to help since you get alot in return.
To see ppl not get their reward is kitten to us who try so hard to make it work, but you dont seem to understand this.
It takes your server 15 mins to get ready for this? It takes TC about 5… it’s literally just putting 50 people on each knight. They even added a counter on the boss to tell you if there are too many players at one of them. I wouldn’t consider that hard work.
I never said it was good people weren’t getting their chest. What I was saying that they were giving out too many champ boxes… unless you feel that the reward isn’t good enough for killing the knights now? If so then I disagree. It’s a very simple fight. Get in circle, read lil icon by boss name, pew pew, and avoid 20 story tall broadcast attacks.
Don’t try and make it sound like you’re organizing the Olympics and teaching people advanced physics here >.>

Well I’m giving up on it. I’ll buy the 9 more cores I need off the trading post to craft my glowing backpiece which I’ll never show anyway because I use something different and forget all about this buggy patch.
The story was good, I enjoyed that. The event has been the least enjoyable of any this year. You need to smack the bottoms of the designers who thought this would be fun.

In a PvP/WvW environment it has other additional weaknesses. 900 range + retal will tear you up + it’s very easy to mitigate while providing very little mitigation itself… PP just isn’t a good weaponset overall and could use a rework.
If you base the potential damage of P/P on its auto-attack, or believe its notable weaknesses are range and retaliation, then I can only assume you haven’t played with that setup very much at all — no offense intended.
However, most thief setups probably require much greater response-times than other professions (e.g., warrior or guardian). So, in this instance, a guardian might be more effective. ;P

The knights are pretty easy to defeat. Still haven’t lost to them once and I have not joined TTS or some organized guild to do it. People will complain about anything to get a free lunch.
TC lost the first one because of the menders healing blue from ~10%→full (lol). But that’s a good thing. There should be parts where you need to pay attention or it’ll mess things up.

I have one of every class. Favorites are the Ranger, Necromancer, Engineer, and Thief. The thief is currently my main, and I tend to build him tanky due to this reason so I can survive a lag spike. But since the knights are a DPS race, I had to pull out the zerker gear and retrait for the DPS setup. Besides, the Critical Strikes traitline alone can make P/P very very dangerous.

I think we’re all a bit frustrated right now, sorry for being a bit snarky. My back just bristles when anyone says things like ‘Drop the theif, get a guard.’ since I do feel that all professions should be viable, laggy or not.
My frustration is not meant to be directed at you but at events & content that make this advice actually valid.
The dude I was responding to was using bold caps… and I responded in a better manner than he asked… with accurate information. I don’t feel that I did anything wrong what so ever.
I’m not frustrated at all. I really like the changes they’ve made to this event.
It would be impossible to balance all profs to be just as good at every encounter ranged/mele/laggy/not. We would need have far fewer professions/builds available for that to be possible… and I would far prefer variety with slightly less balance (all professions are still viable for this) rather than far fewer choices but more balance.

^…..Pls its not that we just want loot….we want rewards for our hard work, the event is like 40 min- 1 hour so the 5 gearboxes was just right as a reward.
comparing to other bosses that take like 15 minutes an end chest was just fine as a reward.
But this event is like 3 times longer than any world boss so why not reward us who do it with 3 times more, its logical….
i also didnt see many who went off topic, meaning…we didnt complain about the content that anet gave us, just the reward.But since you wish it, fine. This content was great as the story conclusion, it makes us think and wonder whats next, which is great storywise.
The design on Kasmeers eyes seconds before were extremly well done, give that person a cookie who made them since its very hard to get any emotion from animated ppl in game.

No the knights don’t take 40m. I find the loot from the knight to be fine now. As I said before though… maybe it’s the holo fight that needs a bump in loot. It does take longer, but it’s really not that hard… and you can get event specific rewards such as the zealot recipies etc… it’s not nearly as far off as 18 champ boxes from zerging down 3 knights was.

I agree with this.
The event feels much more balanced now. I mean the loot for the non-effort a Knight is is plenty fine. The fight isn’t difficult, neither does it last long, so 5 boxes is ok. Plus the tagging-counter means people know when they won’t get loot.
I LOVE that counter. I really hope they put it in other parts of the game in the future to help split people up. It was very well done indeed.

What was the point in making these drastic sweeping changes to an event while it’s in progress? I really enjoyed how it was before, now it’s just a nightmare.
Because it wasn’t working. The devs designed it the way we’re doing it now (split up), we instead zerged it, causing 2/3rds of people to not get loot and causing people to auto-fail the achievement on the Hologram.
Hence the change. It is a bit weird of a change, yes.
If they want the final rewards people need to split up. If they don’t care about them, then maybe the final rewards need to be re-examined.
Then how about saying more than ‘uh bro re-roll a guardian’ and perhaps suggesting to ArenaNet that they need to make all professions equally viable in these encounters?
I’m personally very frustrated that I can’t bring any of my other 7 characters to this culminating event because it’s designed for raw zerker damage ranged DPS.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
And for the record I love the game, only reason I point this out is in the hopes it will improve.
Because you don’t need to reroll a guard for this? What profession isn’t viable (presuming you can dodge the well telegraphed attacks and don’t have random lagspikes due to your ISP… which is hardly a-nets fault)? We took them down with every profession involved on all 3 of them on TC with no problems…

@Aberrant: Dude just move on…you’re not being helpful at all lecturing someone to abandon their profession. I have all 8 80’s and found that my scepter DPS guardian was the only one who was optimal in these encounters. This is not the fault of any player playing another profession or build, this is a design flaw with the mechanics of the event. Please direct your frustration and criticisms appropriately .
If no one says anything, he’ll never know. Being optimal is not required for this event. However if you’re complaining about dps while using a pp thief while trying to play optimally while being laggy… you’re just doing it wrong.

Every run since the latest patch has been a complete failure for me, it seems unwinnable now. Still not getting loot either, so every aspect of this patch is pretty distressing.
Before it was very hard to fail. Now you actually need to put in a little effort (srsly it’s not that hard as long as you have bodies). That’s a massive improvement.
A little effort? MY UNLOAD IS DOING 40% LESS DAMAGE THAN BEFORE THE PATCH AGAINST THE KNIGHTS! That’s on me wearing my full zerker gear. Now imagine 40% less damage on everybody, on TOP of the no more zerging change. That was the part that was unnecessary, the damage reduction on what the knights take. The split up thing I was okay with, it’s cool…but 40% less damage dealt to them by direct attacks? Congratulations, you’ve broken the fight completely.
You’re spamming unload as a thief and expecting DPS… seriously? Also cool caps/bold bro.
The knight can knockdown and then triple combo you to downed state easily if you get close. Only a foolish thief would go into melee range, and this fight is a DPS race, thus forcing Unload since it’s the fastest ranged DPS a thief has. Plus Unload lets me get out a ton of conditions with the venoms I have on for the condi-burst phase.
Learn to dodge? It’s not like her attacks aren’t loudly broadcast. It forces inexperienced players to range, agreed. There are better professions for you to play if this is what you’re going to be doing.
Overall DPS > being slightly faster when you apply the conds at the start of that phase.
I also suffer from my connection having random fits of lag spikes. I’d rather not end up a burden on everybody else due to constantly downing.

Yeah I tried my hand at salvaging blues/greens through buy orders but I stopped after a few weeks. It can be profitable but it takes so long having to salvage everything. So I ended up buying thousands worth of ectos and now I’m at 290%.

From what I hear from people that are whispering me it’s far more competitive now Vs. when I was doing it. It was easy to casually get a stack + of the 250 luck things every night (after arti compacting).
I found another way to do it less directly which works very well… but I fear if I was to disclose that method as well it would just mess up that way and I wouldn’t be able to help in game friends with it : /
@ OP if you can find indirect ways of making things which are profitable I’ve always found those ways to be the best. Also patch days are $.$

What was the point in making these drastic sweeping changes to an event while it’s in progress? I really enjoyed how it was before, now it’s just a nightmare. Every run since the latest patch has been a complete failure for me, it seems unwinnable now. Still not getting loot either, so every aspect of this patch is pretty distressing.
Before it was very hard to fail. Now you actually need to put in a little effort and prep (srsly it’s not that hard as long as you have bodies and tell each other how many are where). That’s a massive improvement.

The new mechanics change does make it more challenging and to top it off it gives 9 less deluxe boxes now, basically more difficulty for less reward !

Remember the loot the Legendary Kraka dropped after you completed that event? This is the season ender for the first arc of Living Story. And the ‘big loot’ was a mask. And later, none at all. Seriously? You’re complaining there’s “too much” loot?

Yes I’m very happy with the event changes. It’s a far better designed event now. Less blobbish, has specific things you need to do, no more people not getting loot randomly, and the change to the final holo fight was very nice as well.
Not sorry at all about those who are missing out on a few champ boxes because of it.
Just further proves my point that some people only cared about the lewtz and kitten balance and quality… just gimmie lewtz. -.-

“Fixed a bug that prevented players from receiving loot from the Assault Knights. A reward chest will now be awarded after all three Assault Knight events have finished, and will be given to the corresponding participants even if only one Assault Knight was defeated.

Loot seems on par now with the rest of the game. Event is far less zergblobish with the 50 limit. Everyone is getting a chest. It’s a far better event overall now ^^

“Depending on spawn times” meaning you would need to get them to all pop very close together without having to wait plus quaggan and kill them all very quickly. I’ve done fgs champ circuts… there is always a wait on at least one of them and the quaggan isn’t there very often.
On top of those boxes you do indeed get a chance at the core reward from the knights as well… which sell for a couple of gold each… so even in the best case of fgs it’s not close to the rewards you get from the knights.
I’m sure people are interested in the t5/t6/cores/lodestones.
The amount of rewards you got from this are closer to what you got with the pre-nerf ember farm…

Getting 6 boxes (5+1 of another that stacked seperatly… not 5 despite whatever the notes say we’re supposed to get) seems fine if everyone actually needed to split up and kill them at the same time seems fine with me. If that was their intent… it failed. Not sure if it’s because of scaling or not.
No it’s not on par with champ farming to get 18 boxes in 15mins… or the same rewards from doing world bosses in the same amount of time… every single hour… -.-
I still see a lot of “I just want ez lootz” and “I’m not getting boxes, why you make this thread?!” sort of posts. I’ll respond again if I see anything else that actually adds to the conversation.

The last we heard was that luck would influence the future PvP reward system. Devs have confirmed this in several ready up livestreams.
Personally I would much rather have LESS RNG and more goal-oriented rewards.

CDI’s don’t seem to be very productive… just go take a look at what happened to the WvW ones. It’s seems like they try to make us feel like we’ve been heard… a little bit. I wouldn’t expect any major changes that weren’t already planned before the creation of the thread with any of them.

I agree healing signet isn’t the only problem. Heck, HS is only one part of why wars are too strong right now. 8% won’t change the overall issues greatly.
The problem is that across multiple professions is that there are far too many low risk/high reward/low skill required builds.
@ Fort… you had your chance to prevent the stealth attack from being possible when they attempted to stealth (save blinding powder). Yet some people want their bad gameplay rewarded with a 2nd chance? If they are stealthed they can’t cap. That’s a large drawback.
Thieves do not have “plenty” of condition cleanses.
Other than shadowstep what’s the rest of the “plenty of tele ports which break stuns”?
Despite all of what thieves do have… an eng will still give a thief a lot of problems.
They aren’t some auto 30/30/30/30/30 god mode profession.

High skill cap but very rewarding are engineers.
If you can master engineer in pvp,.. you will be a pain in the rear to all who oppose you lol…
seriously they got so many tricks , its so frustating trying to cap a point thats guarded by an engi… but agian they are tough to master .. not very noob friendly at all
Thiefs are pretty easy imo but cheesy. Stealth and run around backstabbing evrything. Get in trouble? stealth out and try again later lol
Warrior is all around solid but boring class imo
Go with engi if you think you can master it =p
I agree that Eng is great, but it’s quite a lot to learn for most people who are just starting out in PvP. Kow all the finishers + timing + micro manage kit cd’s etc. Even once you’ve gotten very good at eng… a necro will still be a massive PITA.
Overall for a beginner… war if you want a low skill floor/cap, necro if you want a med skill floor/cap IMO.

Now go play an Elementalist versus Thief class and you will understand where all this “cheese” is coming from.
People complained until Elementalist was nerfed into the ground, now they will do same to Thieves.
Thief being a strong counter to an ele doesn’t make the thief cheese. What makes things cheese is when it’s high reward/low risk/ease of use.
However players do love to find fault in something other than themselves. I had a necromancer in PvP today call my rabid eng (no AR) “cheeze” (necro hard counters eng harder than thief > ele imo).
I would like to see all these hard counters softened though.

I’ve gotten 2 sparks (dagger pre) while on my Eng. It doesn’t matter what class you’re using when trying. It’s just RNG.

I’ve ran some tests today. My previous theory seems to work. Instead of trying to deal a lot of damage, try to be amongst the first to deal damage.
I would start by using smite just before the knight became active (being amongst the first to hit her). I got loot every single time.
If I waited it became far more random if I got loot or not.
Waiting until the group moved on to try to loot didn’t seem to help one way or the other.

Getting back on topic:
T6 mats took quite a dip across the board, thanks to the assault knights dropping 18 champ bags for 15 minutes work. I got 2 asc gear boxes from around100 boxes i farmed.
Personally, i dont see the rewards for defeating scarlet as rewarding for the time invested.
Agree, the bulk of the rewards should be given for defeating the holo, not for 11111-ing the knights. I posted about this in the LS section and just got a lot of people who were upset that they didn’t get any loot at all from them (which I believe is because they don’t know how to properly tag).

That is just someone’s guess, no one knows for sure what the issue is. If I fight a knight, defeat it, but another group fails, is it fair that the people who defeated their knight get nothing?
Regardless a bug does not therefore mean that the rewards are roperly balanced.
When did I say or imply anything like that? Ofc you should get rewards. I just feel that the rewards poorly balanced.
I knew from the start when I wrote this I would get a lot of people upset about not getting rewards/wanting easy loot… but again… it’s not mutually exclusive. Some people have difficulty keeping two different concepts apart in their heads : /

Can you start by explaining WHY the fact that you’re lucky enough to get decent drops is a problem? You’re getting just as many champ bags if not less than champ training in Frostgorge Sound for an hour. They give a reasonable amount of loot for those lucky enough.
You get 18 boxes from the knights in all of 15-20m… that’s too much. Like I stated before, if the large reward was at the end instead of on the knights themselves it would be fine. But instead you’re given a large reward for the easier part.
Well some of us have gotten next to nothing. 6 chests from a single knight, nothing from an of the others. No cores, no chests, nothing. It is not a matter of how soon they where tagged or the amount of damage as I was more then good on both, so it has to be something else. I am happy for you getting all that nice loot, but asking for a nerf when some of us are getting nothing at all is way out of line.
What I read in another post it’s that it’s too many people trying to loot at once, not that rewards aren’t being given. It’s not out of line, you personally having loot issues does not mean that they don’t reward too many champ boxes. It’s not like those two are mutually exclusive or anything. Is putting the bigger reward at the part that takes more effort/skill really a nerf btw? Seems more like just a balance change…
