As the title suggest, after this recent patch my weapons seem to be floating at my sides instead of being directly attached to my body. As seen in the images below, there are quite obvious spaces between the body and the weapon itself.

The ease at which you take her down for Light up the Darkness achievement is really mind boggling Healix and quite impressive to say the least. Did you ever try running a GS at the beginning of phase 2, popping endure pain and 100b to try and burst her down, and then concerning yourself with the crystals? I feel like dropping her HP lower at the start would help during the final moments, allowing you greater focus on hitting her with enough crystals, making the time limit less of a factor. How do you think something like that would play out? Also no food OR buffs….awesome job.

…The first step is the liquid WXP that is being added to the rank up chests which is account-bound. We are planning additional systems as well. Hopefully, as we continue to announce some of those changes, you will be happier with the system.

For once this is entirely welcome news. Thank you.

This wouldn’t be needed if WxP was account bound. The amount of WxP in these chest is going to be so insignificant in actually ranking up another character, assuming they are anything like the Karma Jugs for completing the daily. Even if the liquid WxP is awarded retroactively for all the previous ranks, in no way is it going to even put a dent into the time spent getting to the 200+ rank a lot of people already have.

Added image as attachment too.

In that screenshot it shows Ellen Support at 50% and you completing Trials IV. Being at 50% means that you have not previously completed Tier III in order to get credit for the IV one. Before going onto the next tier, try to make certain you completed the previous tier or you will not receive credit. There is no screenshot supporting your claims of completing tier III and not getting credit (even though I am sure that you did if you completed IV) Just run it again at Tier III and then finish Tier IV again. Finishing at tier III should award 75% Ellen Support in the achievements drop down at the top.

What-in-earth are you talking about? It takes maybe 4-5 hours to complete each meta of the latest round and that’s not even sweating it! You have two weeks to complete them. If you can’t spare 10 hours over 2 weeks, how in the name of everything that is good do you feel you should be entitled to get those achievements?

Every time I read these posts I’m beginning to feel my joke about people wanting the “achievements” mailed to them when they log in wasn’t a joke after all…

You make me lose faith in gamers. Gamers are supposed to actually play the games.

So what happens if during those two weeks I lose power? Or I am going on vacation? Or I simply do not feel like working on those? Those achievements are now completely lost, nothing I can do about it. If you look at an achievement system like World of Warcraft, those achievements are going to be around FOREVER. I could theoretically take a 6 month break, completely miss multiple tiers of content, come back, and start a run to work on those achievement points for boss kills, crafting, PvP kills, etc. I could be gone for multiple expansions and still be able to go back and get everything that I missed. Like I initially said in my post, it doesn’t matter if the task is challenging or not and I am in no way asking for it on a silver platter, but making something time limited does not add difficulty, only frustration.

People don’t seem to realize that the fractal is only going to be cool the first time playing through it. In the end, it is all going to boil down to, which can be completed in the quickest amount of time. Everyone is still going to roll swamp first and hope the following two are just as quick. Who knows, if Anet came out and said that their goals are to make the Abbadon fractal the current length and time as the Dredge fractal and the TR fractal the length of the swamp fractal (or vice verse), I guarantee most of these arguments would not be taking place.

Living story Achievements take too much time

Adminir.8140

You guys do know that achievements are SUPPOSED to be difficult and/or time consuming, right?

This is not the issue at all. Being time limited is the issue. I don’t care if it takes me 20 hours to get a single achievement, as long as I am free to spend those 20 hours over the course of how ever long I want to spend it. Having to spend 20 hours within a very limited window is where the real issue lies.

If you look at the achievements that have been around since launch such as the slayer achievements or the jumping puzzles, people can work towards those goals over the long term and are not forced to focus solely on ones they know are going to disappear. If I want to spend today farming 500+ bats for the bat slayer achievement b/c I feel like it, and then 2 months later want to do the same thing to finish it off, then I am free to do that. If I wanted to get 7 races done today in the Sanctum Sprinter (b/c I felt like it) and finish the rest 2 months from now, that is not possible. Meaning I now would have to “force” myself to finish those races even if I did not feel like doing them at that particular time. (This is only an example, so please take this with a grain of salt.)

Howler...howls forever

in Crafting

Posted by: Adminir.8140

Adminir.8140

Asides from a couple videos on youtube, there’s little information on Howler. After making it, I like the visuals of the actual horn (though I wouldn’t mind if the white part glowed) and the stats are fine. I also like that this horn seemed to be made as the Ranger’s legendary. But, like the actual ranger class, most aspects about the Howler are either annoying or a letdown.
- the added sound effect from the howler doesn’t sound like wolf howls…it sounds like someone is moaning and trying to give me a headache. During the night, unless I sheath my weapon or use another skill, the moaning loops when I use “Call of the Wild.” This loop effect is irritating and should be removed, as I’m sure it also annoys people around me.
-the aura around my character doesn’t seem fantastic enough to suit the status of a legendary. It’s so obvious that the same 2-3 fog particles are just being duplicated and rotated. So much that it doesn’t look like fog because fog doesn’t duplicate and rotate in little packets. Fog is a mass. Also, why is the color minty? Keep it simple; just make it white.
-The footsteps are hardly noticeable and persist for only 2.5 steps before they disappear. They look like dust trails rather than effects of the horn. Most people don’t even realize I have a legendary until they hear the moaning or notice the puffs of dandruff coming off from my character. The water and water droplet effects from unsheathing the horn are nice because they are sharp, but they need to be more pronounced. Also, I think including these in the footsteps and aura would make the them pop more.

I know the Howler won’t be changed anytime soon, and obviously there are tons of other things in gw2 I want to be changed first. I am just informing anyone who is interested in making Howler know of these effects, because they are indeed irritating and a letdown. If I had a video recording program I would show you; in the meantime here are some pictures. Anyways, forgive me if you hear incessant moaning coming from my character.

I agree 100% with you. I wish the footfalls were much more noticeable and the constant awful sounding howl is truly getting on my nerves. What is worse is that it doesn’t go away sometimes, even when I try. If I were to swap weapons, it would finally go silent, only to continue the minute I swapped back to my warhorn. I LOVE the aesthetics of this weapon, but everything else about it is either bland or annoying. Minor adjustments would really make this weapon feel truly legendary.

From a player’s standpoint, what would be the best option in terms of trying to reduce overall lag in terms of PC component upgrades? With a less than optimized game, would the best upgrade solution be a newer GPU or CPU? A majority of people posting seem to think that this game relies heavily on the CPU, though there are some that believe the GPU has more say within the performance department. Is there anyway to test such theories?

When will dungeon tokens be collectibles?

Posted by: Adminir.8140

Adminir.8140

There should be a collectible tab for these types of things. I don’t even understand the reasoning for limiting collectibles to 250 anyway, what makes that number so magical? However, I don’t think anything like this will happen as less room for you = more chance of you buying another bank slot = more money for the gemstore.

Because if it went infinite, it would help the people who stockpile and wait for price changes even more. It actually provides a sort of meta-trading game where you have to HOLD items so your supply is limited by how much you can carry. You can increase this by purchasing bank/bag/character slots, which then helps Arenanet make profit while you’re aiming for profit (although if you are going to be spending that much money to stockpile goods, you most likely are buying gems with gold).

I guess my question is, how would this affect the average player? People who don’t play the TP? I think NOT having an infinite amount of space for these items generally hurts a larger majority of people. And like you said yourself, that group of players is most likely not supporting Anet through the gemstore anyways. Those types of players are converting their gold into gems and then purchasing bank tabs, not the player who turned 80 a few days ago and is looking for a way to store his multiple stacks of CoF tokens. It becomes more of a hassle and hindrance than anything else and is more frustrating in this generation of games. Most games nowadays tend to have some form of “currency tab” where items like this are stored. Look at how WoW has done it. You have an entire character page for currency type item that are stored.

Daily PVE achievement point caps

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Posted by: Adminir.8140

Adminir.8140

As someone who tries to get all the dailies like OP, I would much enjoy a cap on daily achievements. It means I would no longer need to do potentially time-consuming achievements like WvW achievements.

The funny thing is that making a cap will make it easier for more casual players to be competitive in achievements. Yet people are attacking OP and saying he’s just trying to maintain his lead. Under the current system hardcore achievement hunters like OP and myself are making our leads on other players higher by doing more dailies.

This is exactly the issue. People are all screaming “if you want to maintain that lead, you must work for it!” Instead, I don’t think people are really grasping the fact that without a cap, there is going to be a much bigger gap between the people grinding the extra few each day and the casual player. Just looking at a single month of doing each daily:

The casual player is going to net 150 achievement points.

For an achievement hunter doing both PvE and PvP dailies (all of them) they are going to net 450 (3x the amount as the casual).

This gap is going to just keep increasing each month, with no chance of anyone playing casually to catch up. This would make other achievements like jumping puzzles and PvP kills, or even fractal achievements actually worth something. Now you have a hardcore player getting capped at 5, a casual player getting their 5, and the only difference between the two that month is that maybe one of them was able to complete the new JP and the other was not. (Maybe the hardcore player sucks at jumping and now the casual player has taken a small lead)

TLDR: I agree with capping the amount of points awarded daily. This would keep the inflation of these points down. Now that they are going to be worth something, getting to the rewards will feel much more rewarding, much less grindy.

Longbow consolidation/redesign ideas

I would redesign LB skills this way:
#1: Remove distance tiers, do always max damage. Add vulnerability.
#2: Change it to some kind of supercharged skill. It would have high damage and long CD.
#3: Leave it as it is now.
#4: Increase distance to 900. Make it a Blast Finisher.
#5: Change it so you don’t root.

Also:
- Fix the current animation bug (using autoattack, the ranger no longer picks the arrows).
- Fix the nearly-one-year-old-bug with the missing/obstructed/invulnerable attacks.
- Upgrade arrow speed a bit more.

Done, done, and done. All those suggestions would fix a majority of the problems for me.

Would you actually suggest using a spider over a devourer DPS wise?

Spiders out dps devourers in my experience since one of the pet skill on rotation on the devourer is a dodge. Raw damage is lower also on devourer.

The range immobilize also helps you better to hit the target. The only good thing about the devourer is the carrion type for stacking might using RaO with poison field.

That is what I was considering, due to their double attack stacking might much faster than a spider would. I also tend to find that my devourer has MUCH more survivablity than a spider would just due to the high toughness and their ability to burrow away from mobs. (leading to HOPEFULLY, an overall increase in the damage output in the long run)

I agree. All this is doing is inflating everyone’s achievement points. I think if anything, they just need to at least cap them out at a certain number daily. For instance, once you finish 5 for the daily, you no longer receive points for each daily after that (but still the experience) Or even cap it out at 10 DAILY achievement points each day. 6 MAX on the standard ones and then all 4 PvP dailies, or 8 normal dailies and only 2 PvP dailies.

I wish I could, but the only pleasure I get out of this game anymore is looking awesome. I already have to put up with the fact that every time I throw an axe, my backpiece and horn disappear. These animation bugs/changes need to stop. I just tested this on a warrior using a longbow (dual shot has the same exact aftercast as LRS does now) and is completely unaffected. It looks just like it should, reaching back to grab another arrow, not magically conjuring one mid draw.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but characters are no longer reaching towards their back in an attempt to grab an arrow (from the imaginary quiver) with the changed aftercast on Long Range Shot auotcast. Instead they are leaning forward to grab the bowstring. I have posted screenshots for before and after. The reaching back toward the quiver can be recreated by turning off LRS autocast and not spamming the 1 key.

I have also posted this in the Bugs forum as well, just in case it is in fact, a bug.

Hopefully this is a bug or a small oversight, but with the reduced aftercast on the longbow abilities, my character is no longer pulling arrows from her quiver when autocasting Long Range Shot. Instead she makes no effort to even move her hand in that direction. So, if I am going to be shooting some form of illusionary arrows that I conjure with my hands each time I pull the bowstring back, can they at least explode like a REAL magical arrow?

dailies are forced atm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Adminir.8140

Adminir.8140

I hope devs are reading these kind of threads.

Dailies were meant to reward players that were just “playing the game normally”, but there’s a few problems that prevent dailies from working like that. One of the biggest reasons for that, is how uneven dailies are.

From my experience, doing gathering + leveling + daily kills, plus a few other stuff like that, can take between 20 minutes and an hour or more, depending on what other side-stuffing you are doing, where you decide to go, etc. That’s fine. You can explore the world while doing dailies, and in this sense, the devs have acchieved what they wanted.

Likewise, recently-added wvw dailies also allow wvw players to get dailies done by just playing normally.

However, doing fractals, or a dungeon, takes about as much time as doing 3-6 other taily tasks. And THAT’s unfair. If someone wants to spend 40 minutes doing a dungeon (cof1 is the exception, let’s ignore that abomination), that player will only get 1/5 of the dailies done (sometimes, depending on the day, 2 or 3 dailies, and sometimes even none). This FORCES a dungeon/ fractals player to do stuff they don’t want to do, which is annoying. There needs to exist more dungeon dailies, or the current ones should be worth more.

Also, dailies are very restricting and punishing to players who can’t log in everyday. There should exist some sort of system that allows you to finish the dailies from the last 1-2 days. That’s because sometimes, depending on each player’s mood and time, there are days where they might not feel playing GW2 much (or just doing pvp or a dungeon or something), and there are days where those same players spend hours in the game. Dailies currently treat those players unfairly: they should get the same amount of laurels for having the same dedication to the game, but they don’t, because the current daily system has a very strict schedule.

Fix those issues, and dailies will truly feel what they were intended to be: a reward add-on for doing normal stuff, instead of something that forces you to do side-stuff and takes away from your precious time.

You hit the nail on the head my friend. I also want to add, if you compare the amount of effort required for the PvP daily to the PvE daily, there is a huge difference. Even when they increased the amount of effort it required by changing the 5 player kills to 20, or the addition of the 4 “unique maps played,” it was still easily doable in less than 30 minutes. Sometimes I want to do a FoTM run, sometimes I don’t. On the days that this is the daily and I don’t feel like doing it, I try to get a group together to run swamp, lvl 1, and just end the run there. Kill Mossman or Bloomhunger and leave the instance when the daily is complete. If you look back, the previous dailies, they TRULY rewarded you for “playing how you want to play.” They were generic, do these 5 events, kill unique creatures, and do some gathering. If you aren’t doing these things, you are truly sitting in LA. Even by doing WvW, events, unique players/mobs, and gathering all take place.

Also, about the restriction that it places on players to have them log-in every single day is bothersome. WoW (some people may hate me for this) changed the way the daily dungeon functioned just for this reason. It enabled players to not have to log in on a daily basis just to get the dungeon out of the way. Instead, they have 7 each week where they can do them when they have the time. If you have Saturday off and want to run dungeons all day, go for it! If you want to run one each day of the week, you can do that too! Either way, if you did it, you got it done. Why not change the dailies to work along these lines? Instead of wiping them out every 24 hours, allow them to be completed over the course of a few days, lifting this “must log in each day” mentality. I can’t tell you how many times the daily is going to be leveler and then boom, I level 2 minutes before the daily reset. Or I capture a camp in WvW 20 seconds before that becomes the new daily. Or, we just spent 2 hours laying siege to a tower, finally break through, capturing it, only to realize that in exactly 60 seconds, that would have become my new daily.

Multiple Instances of Guild Wars 2 Client

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Adminir.8140

Adminir.8140

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to do this?

In GW1, I had an extra account (or two… Okay, maybe three) that I mostly used for storage, extra heroes prior to full-hero parties, etc. Due to the nature of the trading mechanism, the only way to transfer items was for both characters to be present simultaneously. Therefore, programs like GW Multi Launch were useful because they allowed multiple instances of GW running simultaneously.

In GW2, however, I can’t see the benefits of running two instances of the client on the same machine. If you want to send items from one account to another, just mail them.

I guess the only other advantage of running multiple instances on one computer would be getting more Red Gift Bags across multiple accounts when the Celestial shows up to its feast, or whatever the equivalent holiday be-there-or-be-square items may be.

So, back to my question: What’s the point? I’m genuinely curious, because I feel like I must be missing something here.

I currently have 2 accounts and have been running them from separate computers. The benefits from this is that I have an alt account which I use to jump between world boss events, while I do other things on my main account. (WvW, Fractals, etc) This allows me the convenience of farming the boss events, without effecting my other main focuses. For example, I don’t have to leave a WvW borderlands when Shatterer spawns, instead I send my alternate level 80 out there to wait for the event to begin. In theory, this also allows for me to farm 2x the daily chest and boss spawns, assuming I am too lazy to do anything else. Ideally, I want to run them both a single machine which would allow me to simply alt tab between the accounts, without having to deal with multiple computers.

Like the title suggest, does anyone know how to launch multiple instances of the Guild Wars 2 client? (without using a third party program) IE: Is there anything I can add to the target location or do something via the processes tab in Windows Task Manager.

Yes, this is legal by the way for those curious or unaware.

Dual- or Multi-Boxing
1.) You may use more than one account at the same time.
2.) You may use more than one computer at the same time.
3.) You must be actively playing on each account.
4.) And as stated above, you may not program your keyboard to perform functions on more than one account at a time.
a. For example, if you press W on your keyboard to move forward, a single character on a single account should move forward. The keystroke or mouse click should not perform functions on more than one account.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Policy-3rd-Party-Programs-Multi-Boxing-Macros/first

I have already tried running multiple clients, but I keep running into issues. When trying to install the client via the Guild Wars 2 account page, running the installer only seems to start the already installed game (no matter it’s location), INSTEAD of installing a brand new client to a different directory. Copying the files and having two completely separate folders on completely different drives has the same effect. No matter which client I start up, whether it be via the C: drive or the H: drive, they both link to the other one. When one client is open, trying to open the opposite client only REOPENS the one currently running.

I am unsure on Anets stance regarding the use of third party programs to accomplish this, such as using MultiWars2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj2VcL76U_8) and would like to avoid it if at all possible.

I am just wondering if MultiWars2 (http://insanedevelopers.net/programs/multiwars2/) would fall into the same category as the GW2stuff Overlay since it does not affect the actual client. MultiWars2 is only used to start the game and then the program itself closes, so there is no other interaction between the client and the program itself.

Fixed the broken link to Anets stance on multi boxing an macros.

[FIX] Marksmanship Trait line.

in Ranger

Posted by: Adminir.8140

Adminir.8140

To make the Marksmanship trait line more attractive I believe that the two traits and the Opening Strikes mechanic needs to be reworked.

Piercing Arrows should not be an individual trait, it’s a waste of a Major trait and getting it means you can’t get Eagle Eye unless you put it in the GM slot.

Proposed fixes:

Piercing Arrows should be merged with Eagle Eye, it makes perfect sense, that your improved eye-sight allows you to aim for spots that will cause the arrow to pierce. This way both can be achieved using one trait, Shortbow users can take it too and benefit when switching to Longbow for WvW tower play.

^ This, to the letter. It boggles my mind how warriors can take a single trait, (Crack Shot) and get the benefits of 20% faster skill recharge AND piercing targets whereas a ranger must take two traits from two completely different trait lines, (Piercing Arrows and Quick Draw) to get the same benefit.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on how engineers can somehow THROW grenades (traited) further than someone can shoot a longbow.
