I could see Ailomer being a self-given name, tbh. Although I’d have to say 7/10 – stylish, but not necessarily “Lore-iffic.” Added a mini-Warrior recently, named Sinnri. Darn Asura are too fun, they’re multiplying as bad as my Sylvari do.

I’m in agreement that an AoE cap is rather horrid. Hell, it steals tactics from the combat equation. What’s that about Thermopylae? Masada? A skilled smaller group should be able to frigging well – Wreck. FACE. – on a larger one. Or at the very least hold their behinds at the door for a good while.

In fact I would have more trouble with Norn necromancy or Norn engineers (they seem to be a bit too advanced for their simple lifestyles). But I am open minded and not every character has to be the stereotype either.

With a reset, the three T1 servers would have been split up… one in T3, one in T4 and one in T5.

The next week would not have been fun for the other servers in T3, T4 and T5.

The thing that’s being pointed out by folk from low-pop, screwed-over servers is: it’d be better to get shafted for one week, mayhap two. HOWEVER, we’re now (sans reset) back to where servers who get population-steamrolled are catching it in the bung for MONTHS. A couple of weeks of a hopeless fight, versus months … which is more logical, and going to keep people invested in Wv3?

Solution? Fine, keep yer current maths – but take a direct hand in cases where it’s an obvious blowout. Seriously, gents – as others have said – come down to Ferg or ET for a week, then SF for a second week. At that point, Devs, you will definately see the problems of our current system. Firsthand.

One could argue pure bunker-spec D/D Ele. Survivability, maneuverability, and some nice escape techniques. Of course, I ever get a tag, it’s going on my main (Sylvari Mesmer).

I’d have to agree with the idea that those are pre-beta numbers, and just kinda snuck through. Sure, folk are still playing GW1 even now, but – with the state of MMOs at this time – it does seem hella excessive to use numbers that high. Most games are lucky to not have a massive population dieback inside of five years, let alone 10+

No, MI USED to hit every friendly … it’s been 5-target AoE for some time now. And, THAT is why Mesmers rip on Veil so bloody hard – it’s silly, a util-stealth with better #‘s of cloaked targets than a frigging ELITE. With that said, Veil’s targeting point doesn’t last all that long. Even with massive Swiftness, it’d be shredded before the OP’s mentioned 60 people got through.

Easy fix: Give MI a slightly buffed # of targets (say like 10, for instance). Or, some duration mods. Then, it’s truly an “Elite” skill, by comparison.

I’m a Sylvari cond-mesmer. Nothing says you have to use race elites. Hell, as a Mesmer, you have some of the most pimpin’ elites in game. With that said, it does seem that Human and Asura have the most stylish racials.

Edit: Actually putting such a trait in the Inspiration line based off of Phantasms actually sounds nice, Phantasms have 50% chance to apply Confusion on hits. (duration >= 5 seconds if affected by condition duration, 7 seconds if not)

As much as that’d give Inspiration a much-needed buff … with how all over the place our Confusion traits are, our luck … it’d be in Domination or something. Otherwise: Yes, please!

What I mean is that: When we, and another of the 3 servers have crud for pop – the 3rd server, that prolly has our numbers and a good chunk of the 2nd’s … These gents can use a breakout, since they’re not entrenched in our area. Right: seems to me, the Breakout mechanic was originally implemented to give the losing server(s) a bit of a leg up, correct? Right now, the mechanic can be used by:

Considering the potential firing rate on GW Pistols, it’s logical to assume they’re not flint-/wheel-/match-lock. One would think they then rank similar to an old-school Colt. And those probably packed a working range of 150-200 yards. Assuming our ranges are specced in feet, then 900 is pretty frigging good. IIRC, the longest arrow shot with a modern compound bow is what, about 1200 yards? Assume a shorter distance for a shortbow, as well as for accurate shots.
Arguably, GW bows are pretty kitten buff. Range that typically outshoots rifles, on a weapon whose missiles are more impacted by wind and loss of kinetic impact.
But, what’s that about realism?

As much as I generally go Sylvari, I gotta say Asura for Thief. It’s those crazy animations and emotes. Plus, those mini-geniuses look like they’re zooming all over the place.

Eh … the phant slaps confusion stacks. This works, I expected the confuser-clones to go bye-bye. And more bleed puts it more in line with its trait-bro, Staff.

Mad Science and killer emotes. And yea, the combat animations rock … just made an Asura Warrior yesterday, she jumps all over the friggin place on folks.

I swear, these wacky Asura … battling with Sylvari for Favorite Race status.

I’m just hoping they touch up the more ‘defective’ traits on classes, in the next month or two. I’m looking at you, Inspiration!

Well, silvos – I have to hand you a win on why portal + golem’s arguably a bad thing.
And, I do agree more tactical options are frigging necessary. One of the reasons I have issues with the 5-cap on AoE. That, in a sense, punishes tactics. Hopefully, they find a good balance between dps/targeting.

As for Churros, my comment on Veil presupposes that the zerg being stealthed is large enough to need additional management. Gotta get folk through the Veil-line before it disappears.

CrassBlippy – That’s a definite point, RE: food. Although, part of this problem is that – for whatever reason – we have a PvP/PvE rules/mechanics split. If it were up to me, they’d function interchangeably.

Tiglie’s comment on Confusion’s a hard one. Hard since we don’t want to completely frag a major part of Mesmer play, but at the same time it can wreck faces. Another problem is that to fully rock a Confusion Mesmer sticks a body with -arguably- our two worst weapon choices. Perhaps easier stacks, less duration? It’d then make it more of a counter-agent, than a straight-up “Yer frelled!” situation? (I, personally, would’ve preferred GW1-style Mes, where you had to read the target more, to decide what to counter/interfere with …).

jkctmc is correct regarding Pain Inverter’s strength. Fact is, that is one scary racial skill. I’d have to say, that some racials are far stronger than others. And, this is hopefully a thing what shall be eventually evened out.

Take it from a Mesmer:

Veil – used in the way earlier mentioned – takes a BUTTLOAD of squad unity. If anything, why is Veil uncapped when our freaking ELITE stealth eats a 5-person AoE limit?

Towers – our ability to hide in a tower/keep is nowhere near infinite. Indeed, -iirc- the perma-stealth on thieves is a known CnD > wall abuse. Do keep this in mind, please.

Portal/Teleportation/LoS – Do you not realise Mesmer has some of THE wonkiest LoS mechanics currently in game? It is a positive chore for us to attack a tower or keep ( or for that matter, defend one) at this stage in the game’s timeline. Trust me, things my other classes can hit, my Mes will eat a big, fat ‘obstructed.’

Between that, and our low base speed, it’s not the LoS of portal that is the problem. It’s the abuse inherent in culling + # of persons portable. Now, I’m all for: a modest range increase, coupled with a reduction in persons tossed through. Fact is, any smart Mes player can make that work. As is, portal range isn’t as broken as folk seem to think. It’s FAR outstripped in that department by shadow trap teleport (which doesn’t seem to need a LoS either).

Trident’s a known bug, and I’m surprised we didn’t get that fixed with all the other underwater stuff.

Now, as for Ele and l-flash/churning. I’d have to call that a L2P issue. You KNOW Eles can teleport. You KNOW CE is one sloooooooow mother to cast.

Thieves and Initiative. Honestly, I play one on occasion. Fact is, it’s the combo of init + stealth/culling that we want to deal with. Physically, they are fricking SQUISHY.

Rangers – yes, please. But that’s per AI, period. My Necro alt uses no pets for a bleeding reason. Unfortunately, Rangers lack that choice, due to their class design.
Let’s remember that some Pet AI work has been done in the last months, so it’s logical to assume that issue’s still being worked on.

General – Absolutely agreeable. Now, if we want to use a # limit on portals, merely make those huge boys (Golems) = 2 persons/per. They’re definately big enough. Same could be argued for stealth. Siege repairs is something we desparately need.
As for projectile balance, it should be more based around speed of attack inverse to damage delivered. This’d make your real ‘bunker busters’ come with an equivalent penalty. Seems Trebs fire almost as fast as ACs, and that’s arguably whacked.

I dunno – could be really fun to run into Gaheron Balefire. Him and his crew on one side, Jormag’s boys on the other.

RE: Laurels/Badges/etc.

Honestly, I don’t get this idea of making a new currency … when our current currencies are still – in some respects – finicky. As it is, one only gets level-scaled xp/karma/tiny bit ’o copper/silver for WvW events. As others have mentioned, badge drops are HELLA random. Now, why not:

1.) Add badge potential for tactical objectives (flipping territory/defending territory). It need not be guaranteed, but even a RNG for these things would help a LOT.

2.) Depending on what laurels will exactly be used for, provide a conversion spec for badge or karma > laurels. Amounts would – of course – come down to ANet’s decision, but this would provide more economic options, particularly for the WvW vets.

YMMW, but I think this’d help to keep current WvWers, and add some new ones.

Yea, but iMage is still one slow bastid. That’s his main problem. Hell, slow down the retal a bit and speed up the confusion. That and some Scepter love’d make that combo real worthwhile.

Magic changes reality. Their tech is based on magic. Thus a lot of the “needed” steps for Terran technology can be comfortably sidestepped.

Honestly, Prismatic’s only great if yer planning to go heavy-stealth. As for Guard/Necro, understand that: Guards are one of GW2’s Masters of Boon. Necro is Master of Countering Boons/Manipulating Conditions. Eles can do a good chunk of Boon Mastery and Condition Cleanup. Any of these gents can be a condi-Mesmer’s worst nightmare. Fortunately, we’re not too shabby on flipping Boon/Condition, ourselves. Just means those classes are best fought with a mix of condi and straight DPS. Also, learn to love Null/Arc. Thievery – those allow us to whizz on Boon-users.
Hit ‘em with some condi, make ’em burn c/ds and Re-Boon, then either swipe a few Boons/give ’em yer Conditions, or just cancel ’em. This doesn’t work as well on Necros, since it can easily become a game of Condition Hot Potato. And they’ll win, if they’re specced heavy for it.

No thank you. Just one kitten portal has effectively stymied this class’ evolution on multiple levels. As it is: look at any thread what mentions fixing our most glaring bugs/more whacked trait matchups. ALWAYS countered by some smug bastid mentioning some variant of: “Mesmer is fine, they have Portal (or Timewarp)!”

I would rather let some poor kittenstain (prolly Engi or Necro, since it makes logical sense with their class mechanics) possess Teh Curse of Teh Portalz, and hopefully we get some skills what resemble Mesmer’s GW1 incarnation more. C’mon, ANet guys – some of us would like more interference techniques/hex action, please

The way it looks + its attack pattern, I always thought it was Jormag’s version of an autonomous weapon. Ice Golem, that replicates other Ice Golems. (Or Icebrood, but you see the idea.)

Frankly, the major reason we don’t see nipples on Asura females is less a matter of bio-logic, and much more a matter of Dev-logic. Namely, they did not want the same troubles as were given to TERA Online’s Dev-krewe for the inclusion of: skimpy wardrobe on the Elin race. At least that’s been my guess from Word Go.
Unfortunate in a way: Asura Magitech … I would’ve just hand-waved birthing completely, and went with artificial wombs. Or clonetech, like SG1’s Asgard.

What helps me there is a full Tahlkora set. (condi/vit/healing) with full Mercy Runes (lotta toughness). I don’t toss ZOMGWTFBBQ dmg, but I can sling enough and live a lil longer while doing it. Fortunately, Ele scales hella nice on healing power.

Of course, that’s my WvW/PvE set. Still working out kinks for PvP.

Go figure, I’m starting to feel bad for myself. I’m just rocking Dhuumseal. Although death imagery + purple death-ray isn’t too horrid
