yeah they said eotm was gonna be a testing ground, but they have tested 2 things ever: ppk and no white swords
i cant qualiffy how much i dont like EOTM but there are excellent ideas there.
This WvW format is just a huge trap Anet is setting to themselves, reason it never worked well.
Although I highly doubt it, they COULD make your first entrance into the game before it plops you into the rest of the game something unique to Revenant. Say, you load up and your dropped into a small instance that appears to be the mists and when you finish your task it drops you into the starter zone of your race.
It would be a neat addition, but there would be the problem of NPCs referring to you as the hero of Shaemor and what not, so although it would be an easy way to have it make sense I wouldn’t expect it.
IF the hero of sheamor can be a revenant, i would make one called “time traveller” or “time hipster” becouse he was already a revenent bofere the act of the character LS.
i quited when noticed that needed pve map 100 % and weaponsmith was a trap to burn the gold.
i asked this in the past when MS hitted, but i guess was super ignored

I thought the whole point of these new systems – Mastery and Specialisation – was so that level 80’s would have a way to continue progressing?
They keep progressing but arent those specialization only to be used on the new map?
I would like to see a server merge between EU and NA. More players, more 24/7 coverage, and a major change to t3/t2.

They could change also the WvW model.. they already have a Tyria map done, we need the 4th great guild wars

How much tank is just right or too much? I’ve seen Guards take on 1v2 or even 1v3, bunking a point. Which is ideal for any tank, to hold multiple people for days while his team captures the map.
In zerg scenarios, no one is going to focus a tank unless they’re moa’d. Most of the sustains from vita/heals/toughness/ might not be as ideal.Where the line should be drawn is up to you.
Guardian can bunker bad players only, they can be easilly countered by some classes.
then you still have the problem of basing it on tiers, its essentially the same as basing it on inaccurate population only in this case it would create an unfair discount for lower tiers that might see an unwanted influx of new guilds, some servers are content with where they are and do not want to move out of their current tier, and the servers in tiers that desperately need blood lose out. And again tiers are not a good measure either of server health or competitiveness, as mentioned t3 currently. Also not everyone in lower tiers wants more people, some people choose lower tiers because of that very reason they want to escape the blobbing and zerging of higher tiers for a more small team environment, have to remember to take that into account as well.

I tryed to do the LS story but mobs were hard to kill (i play mace shield mostly) and alot of condis so i had to call a zerker to kill them fast, since i spended most time jump dodge than actually kill it, build divesification on gw2 is a huge potato, and that is what makes other mmo’s fun theres alot of diversification.
EOTM, well theres where players that dont care about pve go to fast lvl or try to, way to many champions and high reward chest just to be there avoid fighthing, i dont see it become the new wvw, Anet said it will change the BL to a more defensive position EOTM castle genra, i just hope wont kill the wvw for most players…Not sure what defense a poorly populated server has against a death blob trying to take their keep. It’ll be much the same as it is now: death blob shows up and knocks on your door with 6 guild catas, 3 sup rams, and if they feel like it, a couple of flash built omega golems for good measure. So much for making defending the new meta against that.
Indeed if its hard to cap even agains a small gruop, solutions is to bring lots of siege, golems and full staked blob, impossible to beat that, i know that pain….
…Remembering ways to clear siege on walls without much effort, defending is even hard now that i think :\, this is really teh game of abandon and recap for most servers or bring blob to win.
Removing white swords solved the problem like a charm. But no one wanted that. People don’t like adapting to anything new. Period. Which is why we will be hopelessly trapped in a blob vs blob WvW indefinitely.
Problem with whitesword was not an adaptation problem, removing swords itself isnt a solution, the problem lies at the core of them game, servers continued to blob and karma train becouse there was no whitswords and was easy to cap things. most servers dont have even player to scout or they are just a very few that they cant cover besides garri and bay, since is to easy to cap stuff with 3 or 4 ram players building siege on north gate when they arrive south gate group is already in, this is an example of how population is even more important without the swords, wvw was created to go there once in a while, where no one cared about wvw ranks some playground for the casual pve to pvp and spend all they flipping towers like they were Alliance battle shrines from gw1.
its a design and dynamics problem, hope they will improve game with the new suposed framework being it pve and wvw

Even worse, it very well may be what wvw WILL be, if players do not speak up about these things.
You must be new on these forums? People have been complaining about WvW balance since the start.. :-)
I played GW1, Was part of the surveys they used to create GW2, have had this game since release and started posting in these forums back then, not sure where that would be considered “new”. WvW balance has been an issue since the start because they made too many servers from the start. I have been more vocal in forums recently due to the HoT wvw news being so depressing thus far. * last ditch effort to hopefully talk sense into them before they make everyone I play with quit the game*
It’s interesting because most of the players in GW2 are either exclusively PvE, PvP, or WvW. Not many play another game mode unless there’s something of interest or to be had. Apart from Anet forcing people to play through all their content for a legendary, most just stick to their side of the game. All the WvWers I know are pretty fed up with how things are currently and debating whether they should continue to invest more time in a game that is no longer fun for them. And PvE doesn’t hold any allure for them and they’re not PvPers, so lil devils in the same boat I am in.
As a wvw player and gw1 player since 2004:
wvw is get most number and best gimmik AOE builds to win atm.
Pvp on gw2 theres alot better pvp games than gw2, gw1 is better to.
Pve is just that bad, and i rather do pve on another game, i just love to see the great artwork this guys have “hat off to the Sir’s and Lady’s @ the Art team.”

It’s been said 1000 times and i’ll say it 1001st. Difference in damage reduction between heavy and light armor is so small it’s near impossible to say “it makes someone tanky/glassy” with straight face.
The base hp + access to defensive skills/traits, and how much you have to stray from offensive setup’s path to get reasonable defense – now that’s what makes a character squishy or tanky by default. And necro is pretty kitten tanky here.
the difference is arround 10-12% at lvl 80, due anet want to make a easy pew pew game.
Problem is not the damage, they are extreme squishy if player can get the closer gap fast, the problem comes when theres conditions involved, since aplly condition is far superior to conditions removal, and some builds can get a good stack/effect no matter how many condi cleanses other class have its just a matter of melt target or be melted if fail rotation.
Sidenote: Anet DPS balance comes in making classes able to high damage and fast kill.
That’s not our problem if you run full PPF, you play high risk high reward, you give and you take hard damage. Deal with it.
Isnt quite like that some classes make a good use of zerker gear at best, the only way to defeat them(or get a equal fight) is fighthing another zerker player, this is what i call the placebo stats effect, since other stats hardly defeat zerker but zerker will make them paper.

Its better to do it after Hot, they will have a class to balance there to.

About PVE all server got merged, choose server if you want to wvw, so you will find a few souls once in a while.

Definitely want to see more race-themed armour, specifically for my Sylvari <3 Cultural and Twilight Arbor being my only options makes me sad.
heh.. ask me as medium charr player…i got either rags and ropes that basically a drover wears (what is ironically also the name of the set), bones and dirty cloth, or a mix of both…aka rags and ropes with bones and dirty cloth….and burning armor if you wanna stretch CoF armor as cultural. I totally support more race theme armor, no matter what race

My interpretation form the HoT apresentation:
Masteries will only be used on the new pve map…. players that dont have the new pve map dont need them……
For some reason i think player tough they could bring them to wvw or any part of the game.
IMO masteries will look like utils to interact with map nothiing more, cut vines, debuf defiant from some mobs, clean special poison etc.

@ OP, dont use full set’s, mix match armor and you will get a awesome results.

Hopefully new map is so annoying that blobbers won’t come blob there.
It is gona be a pure gimmik gameplay based on 2 or 3 classes.
IF anet deleted all other stats from game and left all player like a pure copy paste stats class would be better than create ton of placebos.

GW2 is zerker pve meta, anything besides that is a burden(for some dungeon runners) or not that effective, game is base on dodge(learn mob animation like all games) and use some active skills to avoid getting damaged like guardian blinds or block besides that is a melt berserker game.
Probably on high fractals more sturdy guardian is a go.
U can still build sturdy guardian but will be almost 1 shooted if u dont evade some boss skills and you will loose all “decent” damage capacity.

Lots of npc at EOTM was what turned it into a farm ground.
Uhhhh if i did my math right, that would require 5440 power. That’s calculated with the 33% dmg loss from WvW.
i guess OP died thinking his zerker could AOE bag farm with 1 skill, nowadays this seams obvious by gw2 standards.
Only thing I noticed is significantly more lag since the patch. Who gives a kitten about siege skins…

I guess I don’t get the crying about thinking this is MOBA. Stronghold sounds to me a lot like GW1 Fort Aspenwood, just from what descriptions I’ve read about it (never played it myself). That predates the MOBAs.
FA had different classes with diferent mechanics cant(hard to) compare, on GW2 is 5 dps players.

There are 2 classes in game that completely can nullify a omega golem atack, defense in this game is far from being good or important, they made the game “noob” friendly for the player feel rewarded and pretend he is doing something hard.
just bring zerg build flash trebs or catas on a hill or under a cliff where keep walls are they will damage it.

TBH Server loyalty is the primary reason T3 is as broken as it is. Server loyalty is the problem right now. They need a meteor to wipe out all the severs and start over with 6 max , make more maps and solve the problem once and for all. Server loyalty sounds great on paper, in practice with a games fluctuating populations it can kill the game in the long run and runs off new players preventing it from improving. It would have been better with either 1) No servers, choose side b4 match starts or 2) reducing he number of servers to around 6 and adding more active maps available to accommodate the larger population.
New players coming into a dead server see a dead game and leave thinking they missed the boat already. That is not good for increasing a game’s population or lifespan.
You can’t be serious. How in the world did server loyalty kill T3? It died when guilds from all over silver league jumped onto the T2 bandwagon. In what world does server loyalty mean leaving your server?

I can say nsp population has been very stable, we never had bandwagons not major exits(*) and we are ranked 8(props to comms work and peeps support
), the problem is the disparity of population since every one stacked on the top servers.

(actually we had a large exodus righ at very the beggining of the game a very large guild left to other server, but very stable after that).
Server loyalty died with megaserver IMHO…
yup megaservers messed up wvw. Almost all of the new players have no idea at all of what server they’re in.
^this is so true, ive seen guilds recruiting saying they are a megaserver wvw guilds, wich is one of the best contradictions ive seen in any mmo, implemented decisions conflits with game design.

Since RNG is not at my side, i had to farm 1k crests to acquire the boots, but was way more easy than expected and had and fun.
Im used to grinding games so gw2 gives to much to easy (gw1 did the no grind/treadmill better than gw2 for several reasons).

It’s pretty clear what’s happening here: warrior is OP, warriors know it, and they they deny it so they wouldn’t lose their advantage.
l2p issues of rangers shouldnt be balanced by nerfing warrior.
L2P issues are taken in to buff classes, that’s how i see it as a player and observer, ranger always did a ton of damage with longbow, but was necessary to understand the minimal of it, Anet just gave a easy(faster) way for players feel rewarded, this is the balance ANet does in my opinion, if they could bring the GW1 bow mechanics 90% + would cry hard becouse they dont want to care how to make damage is not fun when theres mechanics envolved in it.
this is how i see gw2 players…. if no press button to win is no fun.
And sorry about the litle blunt rage not intended to offend any ranger.
