guardian core needs changes to mix well with FB

SW need to be fixed to what they were bofore but with no A.I(stay close the guard and atacks close targets) with the exception of the commands that could use the actuall ammo system.

MMOs have lost sight of the basics in PvP. We don’t need a complex environments for PvP/WvW/RvR. What we want is depth of play that feels rewarding. Bascially make a Team Fortress style game with leveling, loot drops and much larger maps.

Indeed……but as a TF would be a poor deph :p compared with the dephness that some mmo’s have (dispise the issues they have, any mmo nowadays equals of beats gw2 in that).

When some one talk about game depth i see it has more options available to play, more tactics, innovation, freedom of choice(as in more choices).

To create depth into WvW they would have to;
-> End server system to stack communities in factions

-> Maps, if i recall it is hard for ANet spent time doing maps, Still maps are extremelly important for MMO’S(Imo i think ANet lacks a decent WvW structure and a ideas to help it, this could be tweaked with the ending of servers and each server would be a war zone with supodes 2 or 3 factions in war).

-> Mounts…wait wait.. dont rage, golems are already mounts, (there are plenty of mechanics that could imply map strucures and type of extre siege(mounts) guilds could built).

->Better structures design (atm some are ment to loose, to avoid stallness, its a cheap model ANet, most time its a zero effort or a stacked server will fall on top of your team).

-> reward more guilds that own and care about structures, create better mechanics for ground combat(better balance?).

-> less hide n treb/proxy cata and more openfield battles are needed,ANet as encouraged less and less over time figths, map design and strucutures need more objectivity than the lame excuse to hide n treb as a tactic.

Vitali.5039, thats the reason i wanted shield on virtues(swap with hammer trait) xD cause that thing it would be the only anti range defense that would works (w/o using utilities) unless people starts to use meditations gaps as usual.

And swapping it with hammer triat would make shield and virtues avaliable for DH builds as well or any other build imo.

guys, it is ANet @ balance and skill design… nothing much to say….just look asside, bow your head and move along, and keep wishing someday we have a dev that likes to play guardian.

DH was all about build to achieve power creep momentum, and players after noticing the condi being the easiest way to spam and win wth lesser effort and risk, players wanted conditions, Anet need to make FB better than core as well, so they added fire stuff in a core guardian on steroids…. so players could feel the need of getting the new shinny stuff.

P.S how u guys are hoping to deal with range damage skills or burst, blost are useless against those an some are unblokcable.
ANet even managed to kill the SW SoA dome…SW skills lost alot of good things with this changes… the SW dome is far more useless now when it works than before.
The old SW’s would even fit better on a FB than the command only effect…

That would not work, ive been in momments where y server has like 10-15 players across all maps while other servers way much had larger groups.

Assume if a server/link decides to tank and bail out of wvw, all other players will get the impossibility to play because others are making it so….

It feels a very exploitable thing to do, it has been discussed by players few time.

It is game wide, so i tough this was a good spot for it, cause this was a bad change with good intentions.. still not a good change…

I was able to use them once in a while in wvw or pvp and my pve build was SW burn based just for the feels.

And remove the A.I from SW , make then close to the Guardian…. limit the weapon exiting from nearby the caster and use the ammo system on the command skill.

-hammer lost its KB
-Bow lost the condi removal
-Shield lost the aegis and stunbreaker, plus the range abosrving dome pulses…
-lost the fire stacks from SW autos…

With the new changes, they are unplayable, even worse with this cast VS its duration and effect, than actually with the awfull A.I….

For some one that always played with one or another SW this feels a nerf…

I think is the connection itself, the lag occur during large fights but not during travels. So the sudden spike in bandwidth might be the cause. I think they are using blade servers.

usually i get an allert while traveling as in “ur gona get wrecked if u dont port back”
the stacked server just passing by will cause a bit of FPS drop (must be client reendering and aquiring data from servers)

stacked server spamming somewhere on the map will lead to masive skill lags :\, altough ive experienced massive fight with almost unnoticeable lag and fps drop, but was a a very manly oc’ed desktop…. the bottleneck can be the client and the hardware trying to process all the data.

tdlr: players need to get better computers.

People seriously need to do research on this before posting about it.

It’s not servers lacking speed that’s the issue; it’s profession design and the huge amount of proc effects, boons, and conditions which all need to be calculated, ticked, and updated/kept track of all firing off as interrupts half the time. ANet has come out and said this… more than once.

So we should stop playing WvW ?

this a thing that always got me pondering, game cant handle with it, yet ANet adds more stuff to make it to get harder to fix lag issues…. due its pve aoe spam flavoured gameplay/class design.

All the FX that clients will have to process, and all the boon hate condi aoe procs and removals servers will have to do… :\
And now adding more barrier calcs since barrier will reduce damage as well….

nvm just checked the stats, and made a few thing with them, looks awfull even with seraph+crusader, eavesdrop random gw2 players sometimes end in awfull result if u dont check stuff first xD

Not sure how it will end :\ with that very low health pool, outside pve might be hard…
If i recall nor seraph, nor the armor stats with concentration have Vitality…

wish the weapons could stay up and have an auto atack like before(but stay near the guard) ._. and go dorment when the commands ammo were spent :\

those fire stacks on auto where actually nice….
plus the KB from hammer atacks..
and the shield pulses….
and the block… (worked well with traited blocks and DH condi removal on block)
and the stunbreaker…..

Everyone likes bigger numbers. If you kept the new numbers but the old pet style would you like that better or worse?

I’d still prefer the new style. It still needs some considerable polishing, but at least we are much more independent of stupid AI.

All that was needed was to remove their “A.I turist mode” and made them stay near the guard, and improve the command skills….

Brutaly.6257, eheheh they are quite buggy atm, if u use the shield and empty the ammo , the next SoA casts will probably fail :\ andskill will enter in CD no matter what, what ive been noticing as well is that i have to stop and cast the SW, if i cast while moving or have a target selects SW cast will fail as well.

For some reason i prefer the old SW system but the with the turist mode fixed :\

Imo another bad/lame fix from ANet….as usual.

read it well…. im not saying it is easy and hard… wtf.. its the 2nd time people give some different meaning to what ive wrote… sorry if my english isnt clear, not my main language but i actually try.

what ive said by other words…. the game is easy to play, but other players still think this is a hard game, they miss to understand this is a low effort game, all u need is to learn meta rotations from the classes and a bit how skills work.

I dont mind classes being easy to play or master, thats actually a good thing and i think we can agree with that, the problem itseflt is the balance due the boon vs negative effects work, wich is where the game is lacking and makes the game to much mindless, this is what i call the “game being dumb down” maybe i wasnt clear, but at least that part should be more complicated making players paying more atention to the targets besides the actual spam gameplay we have.

well getting back how condis/hexes/stances/shouts and the other skill types were labeled and how each one worked in gw1 everything having a counter producing a need of clever and thinking gameplay would be a good change.

The gw2 balance issue might be cause everything is a boon and everything is a condition….

But i fear ANet is ok with how dumbed down this game is, and sadlyalot of players still think this is a a game that is hard to play, and they dont notice how ANet is carrying some of them.

ANet made a super casual game, but the skill usage should be reverted back to the gw1 scheme, this would help providinga better pve and pvp experience.

Guardians are the HEARTH of WvW zerg combat…

also condi issue in zerg fights ? pffffff they get instantly removed 24/7…..

@TrevZach.3807, thread rebirth :|, still i belived it would be Cantha since north of Cantha is under a tirany lordship, with a free people on the south, but when i see the tyria new map, it felt like they will explore more Tyria north side than actually Cantha.
It is possible to be cantha cause there was a mission involving the tyria gods, guess we need see PoF ending first before any assumption.

DH is bad and will always be a bad class due its utilities… ANet expect players to use more the trap spamming than actually use the bow…

What exactly is wrong with DH? It is one of the strongest dps in PvE and is strong in sPvP. It has several usable weapons. Currently its only issue is LB is a bit weak. And as far as the information available and comments from devs new elites do not substitute old elites. In all likely hood DH power build will remain top dps.

I just hate traps and how DH uses them, just a personal feeling of being carried when i play them, IMO one tihng that i noticed when played DH trap spam with bow, felt more like the traps were my main weapon than the bow.

literally wut? burn guard has no cripple sources from their skills or traits so the only way this is possible is from a sigil. Their only source of vunlerability is f1 if traited to do that which is completely awful and chains of light on scepter which applies 3 stacks.

This is why noone takes the forums seriously.

humm i think its some other classes(orskill type) mechanics that in some situation can ignore the RF, imagine where the code of RF get ignored(or does not check) saying players should not take phisical damage.

I think i know what is happening to the clients…. or the skill iteration gets lost in all the back end processing and does not reaches all the clients that are hitting you.

I’ve seen quite a few interesting bugs to support my theory.

This was like the prime directive why GW1 pvp was so good, everything was well categorized there werent massive removals of beside one skills in one or anothersituation, but what i ment is that ANet after PoF should start doing that segmentations for better skill control, and generate less lag as well, since each one had its proper way to be countered, it isnt like the massive stacking mess it is now.

Segmentation and categorising is a process of making stuffed chunks more simple and lighter.
It provides a more clean gameplay.

less iterations, less lag(in theory), more players skill required.

Gimmick as in press keys this order to be effective, atm u dont even have a decent(defined) rock-paper-scizor gameplay, its a burst gimmick rotations..dps race.
About the balance dev’s want, its a bit of a illusion the work they are doing to pretend game to be balanced

A bit offtopic, but still related:

IF ANet really wanted balance in all gamemodes at same time…. this is a bit of a constructive critic and a rage at same time (at least i tried as well to be maintain on topic), and sorry my poor english typing , ill say it’s brexit fault if something goes deeply awfull lol…

One change i believe it would help alot the balance, would be to avoid everything that is positive being a boon and everything negative it is a condition, this is one of the reason pvp combat is awfull, and will keep failling dragging spvp as well WvW.

Anet imo should try introduce hexes and stances(like they worked) back , stances had some sorta counter in some skills backthen there were skills that removed stances, when the gw series required players to be humans, in adition IMO, stability should be as a stance and some conditions need to be converted to hexes, this way ANet can catagorize better the spam vs counters like they did in gw1 actually it was one of the best balanced gameplay in terms of skill usage, and this game need that more than gw1 needed.

Some conditions should be used as hexes (since ANet as proved more than enough times they cant do anything decent how it works no matter how they nerf conditions) vs boonspam. condi removals, something will go deeply wrong.
They are doing a awfull job on this management, condis damage might be fine the issue is how everything is being catagorized as 1 and 0, and they cant balance nither pvp nor pve to decent levels, all that results is range aoe spam and class stacking fow low risk high rewards gameplay.

This would help alot the new crap that is more than obvious by just reading the skills, and knowing how players play…..

The rant:
Maybe i dont know nothing o:) …. but there were several more simple aproaches that ANet could have done over time during the game launch but they always went to the more and illogical work arround band aid, other aproaches could had leed to much more balanced aproaches that would provide better gameplay for all modes, and more freedom to explore classes on the next games, imo is almost unconscionable how the game has reached this extremelly lame combat gameplay, where everylooks capable on paper but on reallity that is not how it works, wich ANet looks fine with it.

oh.. and sorry about this last part,after reading it felt a bit threadstealling…

I think Anet has a great chance of opportunity to make a better and a more clever gameplay after PoF release.

I would predict that they’ll throw whatever storyline we are following then out of the window to pull a new bad guy out of a hat with no connection or introduction, and then we are going into xpack 3 fresh and free from any previous story, sense or care about any of the major NPCs.

Oh wait, that’s this xpack. Hrm. Guess they might repeat it?

Cant be that way glidders need to bedisabled much before they get close the structures, the way u want to trim the barriers will lead to several ways of glicth into structures, like we had in some places.

Just make the zones disable gliders immediately. People really shouldn’t be intentionally attempting to glide into walled objectives they do not own so in the few areas it would cause death, oops… To prevent honest people from dying who just wanted to get to objective to defend but got there late, idk maybe increase the objectives’ capture bar event radius where appropriate. It would give them time to decide to push for the defense or veer off.

wich such trimmed barriers, i could make a DH or thief and pull my friend on the other server into the wall so he could port his group.
It would be troll exploit at another level… game(codewise) boundry validations dont apear out of thin air, as much i would love it as well.

A middle term aproach must need to be reached, what is the best to avoid mistakes, close to structures,far from structures, limit glidding where?, there was for sure quite some thinking to reach the most overall way to introduce glidding into WvW,

I would say it was one of the most “balanced addons” ive seen ANet doing after gw2 lauch….

The main issue with this game being to much friendly with casuals even the game it has low skill standards to be effective…

HoTmaps were a diferent aproach on how a mmo map could work nothing more… it has nothing to do with casuals, what u guys are noticing is another thing, ive tryed those maps myself i didnt even completed HoT campaing, and it made me quit pve once for all, but that was because gw2 pve is bad, all about aoe spamand pwoer creep gameplay, and hot zones lack players for events..

You are aware that the dragonhunter has 2 traits that sunergies with f1 burn right? applying vulnerability AND cripple everytime f1 triggers. Maybe you should go read up on guard before you comment on this forum.

Even dome shield 5 KB can be setted to criple players …..

Interesting ive been asking for that.. at least in some points,
Solutions:
1. Remove Downed mechanics and Ressurect without skill use from WvW.

Cant be that way glidders need to bedisabled much before they get close the structures, the way u want to trim the barriers will lead to several ways of glicth into structures, like we had in some places.

these guys need to touch DH :] next and remove the traps for anything else that requires brains xD and fits better with the bow…

they managed to mix 2 things that were lacking to Guardian fire and support

Wards > trap spam …. wards were so kewl even used on GvG, PVE, PVP…. everywhere.

i use(ed) empower for might… not every one uses gimmicks 1111111 crit builds if that is what ur referencing (empowering might trait).

Ragnarox.9601, i had those issues as well once in a while, not only after the latest patch, ive been killed by melee a few times in RF animation as well.
And ive noticed players commenting the same on TS.

None. Hammer/Staff is the most useful combination due to hammer skill 3 and 5, same with staff 3 and 5. It is the main might stacking and cc in any zerg.
Now you just cant 1-1-1 rams and have more downtime on weapon swap.

And if you used staff for lootsticking on enemy retreat instead of hammer cc… well you are just bad teamplayer.

As a mace/shield guard thats the staff 5 function, they need to change staff 2 as the main atack and give a 1 sec dome cast as a aoe skill, with 2-3 sec recharge on staff 2 xD since they borked up SW SoA….even more..since ANet copy pastaDiablo barbarian hammer of wisdom cast…to all SW… wth ANet…

Simboldofswiftness, its useless alone, rev’s have it as a passive aoe pulse, i would request a better simbol, Staff 5 needs to give slow

staff was always a awfull weapon, it was only for the empower rotations that even it clutches players while casting where they could be CC’ed or AOE’ed easilly.

I really hope ANet instead of put staff back improves it after fix the bugs they added to guard…
