RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I don’t think I’m playing the same version of GW2…Condi builds seem pretty useless outside of duels and 2v2s etc. Have never had a problem dealing with conditions, on any of my characters :/
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Am I the only one that is chuffed at the reawrds? I mean, I got to play the only part of the game I enjoy and got free stuff for doing things I’d normally do. Sounds full of win to me….
The point I believe the OP was trying to make was every single other aspect of the game that others enjoy is more rewarding and there is no real reason for that.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Doubt the leagues did any good. Only thing it made me do is buy the evil SimCity game that I thought I would never get and have resisted for so long. WvW season shifted me towards the other side from casual to even more casual and into other games. The only WvW I’ve done lately is probably 5-15 minutes where I need to find 10 reds to kill so I can do my dailies. Yes, that’s all I log into GW2 to do now. Until I can see Anet doing something about zerg-blobs, I don’t think I’ll even care. I’ve probably spent more time on these message boards than in game. Guess we can all call this being burnt out?
Care to explain to me why “zerg-blobs” are bad? Honest question. I haven’t played in any other tier than tier 1, and here, it’s just a part of the game mode of wvw.
If you want small scale fights, there’s spvp…
There is no answer to that. WvW is littered with people who want sPvP but won’t go play it because your characters feel disconnected from the game world. At least that is why I can’t get into sPvP.
I prefer large scale conflict and sieges anyway, and honestly, I have never seen a blob in this game the size of some of the zergs DAoC had in the first year or two after release, and I feel like the 30-70 player zergs of WvW are much more manageable than a 200 man server crashing relic raid.
Different strokes for different folks, some of us like siege warfare, others just wanna do 20v20 all day. More power to both parties imo!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
To be honest I came back to the game purely for the WvW and it’s sad that it remains nearly impossible to get anything decent in the only aspect of the game with replayability for me.
I honestly laughed and shook my head when I get my season 1 chest. But if you have played since release, you should of saw that coming for WvW :p
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
The last time they announced an epic event, I got Lord Faren in a speedo.
Please no more epic events.
+1
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
No the fact we don’t like is that is that GW2 is more and more like thousands of other main-stream mmos. Unlike what first GW was.
yet I could find more things that are the same between GW1 and WoW than between GW2 and WoW.
I just…I don’t…
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
It’d be REALLY awesome for a dev to swing by hear and say “Oh by the way, the armor and flames are dyeable.”
Because itd be awesome if I could make it blue to match my Foefire hammer.
Now that would be some awesome flame armor. I want some Purple/blue fiaaaa!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Every two weeks? I plan to go on leave this month. I don’t want to miss anything
Plz dont release temporary things these days
GW2, so hardcore, you can’t even go on vacation/leave/etc., or you miss 2 weeks of pressing F.
It’s not that big of a deal. They haven’t put anything out that has made me log in nearly 3 weeks. If you need to go on vacation go ahead. You’ll feel better not worrying about collecting candy all day.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Cool, more comical looking cartoon-ish fire skins. This game didn’t have enough of those already. /rollseyes.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I don’t mean any disrespect to the people in charge of the Living Story or ArenaNet, but in my opinion you are doing a horrible job in regards to making the world feel living AND adding content to the game at the same time.
The biggest problem(in my opinion) with the Living Story is that those of us who stay and play the game on a very regular basis get to experience a lot of new content, but people who take breaks for months log in and think that no new content has been added, because there is nothing new for them to experience.
In my opinion it would be much better if you in the future just added the dungeons as permanent content, but let the story npcs stay and tell the tale of how the new content came to be.
You could just make some unique skins as a reward for completing those challenges when the content is fresh, and then take them out when the next chapter is added.Because then everyone would get to experience the content, and the world would still feel alive because there would be changes added all the time.
If the F&F dungeon was still here it would feel much more alive, because that dungeon wasn’t here at release. Now it’s gone and everything is back to normal, if you get what I mean.
Sorry if it sounds like I’m just whining, but I really think this would be much better for the game and I really want this game to last for years to come.
Well said, some strong points here. This has been keeping a lot of my RL friends away from the game. Not a single one will play anymore, and if I try to introduce people to the game they want nothing to do with 6 months of missed content. I tried to tell them they weren’t missing much, but it’s perception that nothing at all has changed in 6 months. It’s been a real pain to explain to people who buy the game that they are only getting half the updates everyone else got.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Kind of disappointing honestly, was hoping they learned something from the past 4 months.
Like someone else said, this is only a portion of their team however, so there still is hope for something lasting and meaningful.
And fun. That would be great too. Busting pinata’s, repairing signs, etc. Is not content. It’s a distraction from the lack of content.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
- Uninspired PvE/Open World Content/Dungeons. The PvE content in this game feels lackluster to me personally. I realize a lot of people enjoy it, but I prefer strategy and challenge in my PvE gameplay, it should not just be a DPS bash your face into the keyboard for everything style of play. Temporary events are not passable content for a large portion of players. There needs to be meaningful permanent updates to foster a community.
- Focus on sPvP. Really? Still? It’s not even remotely popular enough to justify the amount of development that goes into it.
-Loot loot loot. The loot system, RNG drop rates, and methods of obtaining unique skins in this game make me physically cringe that they think it’s even remotely a passable system. Play WvW, get lucky if you break even on gold. PvE all the time and you’ll be filthy stinking rich. Why is the most enjoyable part of your game the least rewarding? This kind of stuff should be looked at.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
(edited by Aeonblade.8709)
TL:DR – Guild Wars 2 has no focus and so people don’t commit. No regular players = no community.
This is a huge problem. I tried bringing this to everyone’s attention about the complete deficit of a community in this game. It’s going to hurt it in the long run.
Well said OP, read all of it and most of it I agree with
The people who would appreciate your posts haven’t left by the way, most of us are just waiting for Anet to make a move on new content and fixes for some problem areas of the game.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
(edited by Aeonblade.8709)
Haha good luck OP. I know how addictive housing additions can be for a game. I had a GF back in 05ish that was obsessed with building her house perfect in DAoC.
My current wife is madly addicted to Dimensions in Rift, and she has a friend that absolutely loves the dims too.
Housing adds a lot of stuff to a game IMO, and I applaud Anet for finally making it happen for those who enjoy that kind of gameplay.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
This can all be traced back to the fact that the loot system in this game is so bad it’s not even worth it to take 30 seconds to kill trash mobs.
That’s a problem that has been ignored time and time again.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’d say they have hit their goal alright.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
<——new to mmo’s
Is a Raid pretty much a big dungeon with more ppl?
Yes. That is pretty much the rough definition. Raids have been composed of 8-100+ players, depending on the game you are playing. Most raids these days in MMOs hover between 8 – 20 people.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Ugh. More conflicting design decisions. Cool news about housing though for those who care about it!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I would love to, but they do not deserve it right now and the skins are really bad looking.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Their reputation in gaming/mmo circles speaks for itself at this point. So much potential and good art wasted on making a buck. And they scratch their heads wondering why they have to delete 20 “I’m leaving” posts off the front page every day. Hilarity ensues. Queue up the Benny Hill theme.
Don’t put one of the only reasons for playing the game at the moment behind a .02% random drop every month. It’s really that simple.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
This link will give you a good idea of what has been added and removed since January. Really it will do you much better just to read this than ask everyone here, as you will get mixed information and conflicting opinions.
Thanks for the link. But it really doesn’t answer my question :/
I am after the size (hence the “how big”) of the updates in terms of megabytes (or more likely gigabytes) rather then amount of changes that have been done. Trying to triage my remaining usage for this month that’s all.
I have no idea how large the update will be since I have no clue what patches you do/do not have, if you logged in and patched one day or something, etc. It’s going to vary based pretty much off the week you quit.
I wish I could be more helpful, but I would say at least 2gb worth of patching.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Haven’t really taken the time to look at anyone else honestly, haven’t seen anyone with an outfit or model that was just “woah, that is awesome!” yet.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

Now all you need is a lawn chair from the gem store and some alcohol from one of the venders.
Heck ya, a big bag of cheetos and a pack of smokes and we are talking a good day.

Best looking area to me is either Harathi, Kessex, or Gendarran.
The worst looking areas are in Orr, Caledon (Hate the Wurm area), and the shattered/charr areas.
Personal opinion of course
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Everyone is sitting in LA because they have no reason to go back to the mid level zones except for the DE chest loop. It’s okay though, LA has pinatas.

Actually in the Procter and Gamble bit, I use every single one of those in my household.
Do you seriously use every single P&G product in your household? I find that incredibly hard to believe.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Procter_%26_Gamble_brands
Thankfully though, a majority of consumers don’t partake in your extreme practices, or we’d be seeing a lot less of these huge conglomerate companies (which exists in every industry.)
What you are saying isn’t wrong. It’s how you choose to support companies. However, you’re trying to paint a commonplace company practice (of sharing revenue from different product lines) as somehow “bad” because you personally don’t agree with it. Not many people are going to agree with you on that and even less people care about it.
I was saying the ones he listed. Obviously I don’t use every single P&G product. Just most of them. I do find it amusing that you get so upset because I have different consumer habits than you. If you think I’m worried about having everyone agree with my opinion, you should take the time to get to know me better. That’s not the only opinion I have that would not be in the majority.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

So it’s wrong to find a company where you enjoy all or most of the games they have to offer. The difference is with WoW, I play SC and Diablo as well. So that works for me. I don’t play Aion or Lineage, therefore it does not work for me.
See how I decide where my dollars go?
It’s not wrong, but it feels very arbitrary to not support a game because you don’t like other games that the publisher supports.
Activision Blizzard owns the following game franchises:
Crash Bandicoot
Guitar Hero
Call of Duty
Tony Hawk
Spyro the Dragon
Warcraft
Starcraft
DiabloDo you play most/all these games? Even if you narrow it to Blizzard, do you play Warcraft 3? Or just WoW? (Two completely different games). Do you like/play the Lost Vikings? Money spent on D3/WoW may very well be funding development of WC4 or a new Lost Vikings game, in addition to Project Titan/Hearthstone. The exact money trail, you have no idea, just as you have no idea how NCsoft is distributing funds.
EDIT: This same logic can be applied to non-gaming products as well. Do you like Crest toothpaste? Duracell batteries? Febreze maybe? They are all owned by Proctor & Gamble, which also own a huge portfolio of brands (Head & Shoulders, Olay, Oral-B, Tide, Charmin, etc…)
EDIT2: By the way, don’t get me wrong. If you don’t support GW2 because you don’t like GW2, that’s perfectly fine. If you don’t support GW2 because you don’t like NCsoft/Lineage/Wild Star but love GW2 is….again, a bit extreme.
I don’t support GW2 right now for many reasons, the one in this topic we were discussing just happened to be not knowing where our gem store purchases were going. Once again the difference being I use most or all of those products. Actually in the Procter and Gamble bit, I use every single one of those in my household.
As for Activision/Blizzard, surprisingly YES I do play all of those games or have played them at some point
In fact I still own most of them. The only game on that list I do not own right now is a Crash Bandicoot game.
Some people may find it silly, but I like to make every dollar I earn benefit myself and my interests, considering I earned the money. If a company has a broad base of services they offer, and I use most of them, great!
With Anet, I use GW2. I use no other product that the money is being funneled to, nor do I have an interest in those products.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Or I could do research and spend my money wisely on what I want to spend it on. Not every MMO is run by an amalgamation of corporations by the way, I don’t why you would even say that.
Actually almost every single company that made an MMO has another game (not necessarily an MMO) that they fund. For example money from WoW goes to Starcraft and wise versa. Same is true for Guild Wars. For one thing Lineage is more profitable than Guild Wars so chances are Lineage is funding both us and Wildstar.
So it’s wrong to find a company where you enjoy all or most of the games they have to offer. The difference is with WoW, I play SC and Diablo as well. So that works for me. I don’t play Aion or Lineage, therefore it does not work for me.
See how I decide where my dollars go?
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Yea…so… Why would we attack someone because they like the game? Good for them. I don’t speak for anyone but myself, and I have no problem with people loving and enjoying this game.
The problem stems from forum warriors attacking anyone who has a negative opinion about any aspect of the game. They should learn to be more accepting. This goes both ways, people with a negative view on aspects of the game shouldn’t come here without a coherent well thought reason for why you feel the way you do. It just enforces this mentality that anyone who doesn’t worship the game or Anet is a “hater”
To the OP: I’m glad you enjoy GW2 as it is surely one of the better games out there
From just reading the forums today I have seen a lot of bashing going both ways. From those that like the game, and from those that don’t. Thus the warning to the OP. I wasn’t naming anyone specifically, although your post sounds like you’re feeling a little guilty (as my mother always put it, got a guilty conscience?)
I could go into depth on my thoughts here, but it would most likely derail the thread, so I won’t.
Back on topic:
I can agree with some type of looking for group mechanic. Personally, I would be happy with something as simple as what was implemented in GW1, while I know other’s would still prefer something more ‘WoW’-esk in design. Personally, I’m content with the LFG website, but I agree that it would be easier to just have something built directly into the game.
Just trying to help those whose voices are drowned out or thought of as not as important. My conscious couldn’t be cleaner, I’m just tired of the bickering on both sides.
This is a great game with some cool ideas, but saying it shouldn’t be changed or improved hurts the game and the image of the game to people looking to pick it up.
But yes let’s try to keep this on topic as this is actually a relatively nice post for once
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Um. No. We get how business works. We just aren’t comfortable giving money to Anet to give to NCsoft when they are known to squander it on bad games and bad decisions.
Then you might as well stop buying games all together. ALL companies work this way.
Or I could do research and spend my money wisely on what I want to spend it on. Not every MMO is run by an amalgamation of corporations by the way, I don’t why you would even say that.
I’m not sure you understand the topic we are discussing, if there is anything I can do to help you understand it’s my money and I decide where it goes, let me know
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
The plan is to milk the players of this game as long as possible for NCsoft’s future investments. IE Wildstar, content for Aion/Lineage, and hopefully at some point this year or early next year at the latest a GW2 expansion
Oh look, the whole crowd of malcontents are repeating the same thing over and over again. How…original. Do you guys rehearse this stuff.
Proof? No? I didn’t think so.
Well, if you were looking to discuss, we could do without the mocking hyperbole.
It makes good business sense to take funds from something that is already succeeding (monetarily) and pump it into other potential ventures.
No one knows what’s succeeding and what’s not succeeding, except NCsoft. We do know that so far, Guild Wars 2 is their second highest money maker. We don’t know how much it’s made since the last quarterly report though and we don’t know how much the gem store makes, so it’s all speculation.
Now if Guild Wars 2 turns out to be the most profitable product, then what? Since Wildstar hasn’t launched, no one knows how well it will do.
I mean they thought Blade and Soul would do a lot better than it did, but it didn’t really go anywhere. No guarantees in this industry.
At this point in time GW2 is funding Wildstar and also the first expansion for GW2.
Wildstar started development before guild wars 2 was released. Secondly, it is exactly how business operates, they take the money some of it goes to profit and the reset is reinvested in another project or are people on game forums this ignorant of business operations?
Um. No. We get how business works. We just aren’t comfortable giving money to Anet to give to NCsoft when they are known to squander it on bad games and bad decisions.
If I knew my money was going strictly to funding a GW2 expansion, I would spend it. I have no interest in Wildstar, Aion, or anything else they want to do other than GW2 through Anet. So I have no desire to fund it.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’ve played many MMOs (WoW, Rift, EVE, LOTRO, Everquest, and DC Online). Out of all of them, I think Guild Wars 2 is the best. Why? A few simple reasons.
1. The content is great. I look forward every time entering a new area. I can’t wait to see what it looks like, or the major issue of the area. A great example of this is the Fields of Ruin. I went there as part of the Vigil quest line, and I really enjoyed the whole area, because the quests (both story and non-story) felt like it meant something and gave me motivation to continue. Every two levels, or so, I look forward to see the story missions.
2. Out of all games, this is the best PVP. For the most part, its balanced and non-gear dependent. Whenever I join a match, I never feel out-geared or what not. While I have not played much World vs. World, the system could stand a few tweaks, but overall I feel its a solid PVP mode.
3. The amount of patch content is great. Every month is a new dungeon. While they may only exist for a short time, that is fine. The game feels like it is a living world.
Overall, keep up the great work Arena.Net. Your game is the best MMO I’ve played. Some dislike it, because you changed it from Guild Wars 1. Don’t listen to them. Keep on doing a job.
Oh, I think they could pull a few more things from GW1 and still remain unique and different, otherwise I agree for the most part with you. I also enjoy the Living Story and regular updates.
Still, be prepared for the onslaught of haters….
Yea…so… Why would we attack someone because they like the game? Good for them. I don’t speak for anyone but myself, and I have no problem with people loving and enjoying this game.

Halloween.
Wintersday.
Super Adventure Box.
Dragon Bash.
Southsun Cove. Same stuff different skin.Living Story. Garbage.
2 PvP maps. I don’t play guild wars for pvp.
New events. Good.
New voice acting. Who cares, GW1 had barely any voice acting in it and I still loved it.
New soundtrack. Ok but that doesn’t improve a game, it makes it easier to be immersed but it doesn’t improve upon a game.Updating reward systems. Good, but I don’t play MMO’s for intense looting sessions. GW1 wasn’t like that and GW2 said they weren’t a MMO…
Costume brawl. Okay, sold, you got me Anet. I’ll stay because of costume brawl. (No what do you think?)
Crab Toss.
Moa Racing. Are you trolling?
Sadly some people think stuff like mini games, costume brawls, and pinata breaking is “content”. This is all fine and well for them. They should add permanent content as well, there is no reason to not have a real permanent update on top of the temporary ones.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
In today’s politically correct world, I have resigned myself to knowing that telling someone they should do something or research something themselves instead of having others do it for them is an insult.
http://www.neo-philosophy.com/LogicWeek7.html
Please look up “Misplaced burden of proof.”
“Politically correct” isn’t the phrase you’re looking for. Any formal arguments done with logic dictates that the person who makes the claim, should provide proof of it.
Thanks for link, we appreciate the on topic response. Replace PC with whatever word makes you feel all warm and fuzzy for all I care.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Waiting for the post from Vayne saying your observations are inconclusive and demanding research and documentation in 3….2….1……!
Hahahahahahaha..hmm…ho…haha..
Anyway, it’s a problem that’s only going to get worse as less and less permanent content comes out to bring people back to these zones. It happens in every MMO, but it’s happening to this one in over drive.
That said, TC should have a healthy population, they are some great people and it’s a high population server.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Too bad the world feels no more alive than it did 6 months ago, and places like Southsun are actually worse off because of the horde of locusts so eager for something to actually DO in the game move on immediately.
It’s a pretty sad state of affairs honestly. This is all you’ll get from me on the subject, because there are already 100 other threads out there about this very topic, no need to spam general with more of them.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
@Genophix I’m not trying to make people feel down for still enjoying the game. I did and for quite awhile! I’m sorry if what you’ve read has made you less happy about what you’re enjoying – it really wasn’t my intention. The problems others and I have explained here are apparent once the lid is off and you see the MMO side of it and how that part is severely lacking.
I don’t want to go back to the topic of why Arena.NET can’t sustain their game without a satisfied core playerbase. Their business plan of catering only to new players, not even only casuals or only hardcore veterans, is so short-sighted and downright stupid that I still can’t believe they don’t see it. I think we’ve exhausted this subject and, honestly, without a developer letting us know what he thinks, it all feels pointless.
I’ll share something personal; recently I quit playing League of Legends because I literally felt burned out. That’s a game that I’d been supporting since open beta. It’s absolutely not a developer’s fault: it was a blast and I enjoyed it all throughout high school with friends. As someone who, to this day, maintains a LoL blog, do you know what I find deserves the most respect in Riot? The fact that the developers are always willing to take to the forums and respond to criticism. No, you have not seen criticism, Arena.NET – I’m talking about red posts being literally flagged for spam because of backlash. And these people held on and they talked, and they explained, and they made surveys, never putting the opinion of the community above its own ideas or vice versa, rather it all worked in tandem. They launched a PBE server explicitly because of player demand and not one tiny patch note was left without a follow-up as to why that was implemented.
If you’re gonna take an example from anyone, take it from the developers of Riot Games. And regardless of whether or not you appreciate League of Legends as a game, you can’t deny the passion of these people for their product. LoL was small when it released – Guild Wars 2 was huge. But LoL grew and continues to grow, while GW2 is choking on its deathbed not a year in.
A good read. Let’s hope a dev will respond, as you said.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
can we not go completely offtopic here?
Honestly we were thinking up ways to continue doing hearts after they were completed like you said. I don’t see how this is off topic :/
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Why do you need tons of permanent content when they introduce new temporary content literally every two weeks. In many games they introduce this level of content as permanent content at half the speed, but players only actively use the newest stuff, so the old stuff just sits there making the game larger and using up space in the world.
This way the unneeded stuff goes away and players are left with rewards that feel special (because they are forever linked to the event) and the world feels like its actively changing every day.
And everyone who wasn’t there or was unable to finish the event in the small time window for whatever reason are left out to rot, and end up leaving the game because they can’t experience the content at their own pace. If by changing you mean Southsun being even more uninhabitable than before, than yes, the LS temporary content has served it’s purpose
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I am so glad instead of getting a getting any addition permanent dungeons we are continuing to get temporary content story dungeons. The only permanent content we are getting now is a jumping puzzle and a scavenger hunt for
precursors5 skill points. We can add these to the list of content released and then ignored 2 weeks later like the karka queen.
One of the most useless things I can think of them making the reward. I thought for sure the precursor hunt was finally starting up. That is a shame and once again a design decision that leaves a lot of the player base scratching their heads.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Anet hasn’t shown a vested interest in the forums. Most updates are posted on other websites first, most news stories are linked here by players instead of mods or devs (even though they have a news forum…go figure), and there is generally more dev participation on other sites. So I don’t figure we will see QoL improvements to the forums unless things change.
Forums will get better as the game ages and the player base ages and certain elements leave for other games. Players that are actually interested in contributing to the forums constructively will increase over time and drown out both the blindly negative and blindly optimistic. Mostly it’s up to the posters, if people want the forums to improve they need to do stuff about it.
Well said!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Maybe get a nice screenshot instead, maybe of the 2 of you standing next to each other in a place you really like or is interesting, then have a painting made of that picture.
This might be a much cheaper option to compromise with. There are a lot of great artists out there that work for commission, I have had some done myself of some old EQ characters years and years ago that I played. Good Idea Astral.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Halloween.
Wintersday.
Super Adventure Box.
Dragon Bash.
Southsun Cove.
Fractals of the Mists.
Living Story.
2 PvP maps.
New events.
New voice acting.
New soundtracks.
Updating reward systems.
Guild Missions.
Halloween. - Gone, obviously
Wintersday. – gone
Super Adventure Box. – gone
Dragon Bash. – Soon to be gone
Southsun Cove. – Finished/gone
Fractals of the Mists. – old content, but it at least is still here.
Living Story. – I really wouldn’t go there.
2 PvP maps. – if you mean sPvP, I’m sure the 17 guys still playing it are excited.
New events. – Ok there are some new ones that have been added
New voice acting. – Volume stays muted
New soundtracks. – Volume stays muted
Updating reward systems. – When did this happen? Oh you mean the “sometime this summer” thing?
Guild Missions. – Meh. Very niche content.
Not saying they haven’t done anything, I’m saying the quality of the work should improve if they expect player retention beyond 1-2 years.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Man, the this game is not for you, every game has RNG, I want to have Anet’s baby crowd got here a lot quicker than I anticipated this time.
Never fear OP, I think that the Scavenger Hunt is coming out soon, let’s cross our fingers and hope it’s not a random precursor from it
I think it’s less “I want to have Anet’s baby” and more “I’ve MMOed for 16 years and this RNG is par for the course”. It’s only in recent years that RNG has been pushed the background in lieu of a more grindy approach. Anet is just going old school on everyone. The old MMOers like me are apathetic to it, I guess, and the new MMOers despise it. I don’t think anyone actually likes it, though. >_>
As I have tried to explain to people time and time again, MMO’s are a time investment, and when some people don’t get anything for all the time invested, it hurts the game greatly.
Players shouldn’t be rewarded for having more free time than others, beyond the ability to play the game longer. Apparently Anet agrees with this stance, and thus the game is designed the way it is.
Been playing MMO’s for just as long as you, and I completely disagree with every point you made. Opinions be opinions, however they differ. I prefer older games, why else would I spend more time on EQ1 than pretty much everything else lately? And that game has RNG far out the kitten but it is way more fair than this…thing…Anet hath created
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

For instance, before Rift went F2P, those were easily the best and most constructive MMO forums I ever had the pleasure of using. So much optimism and so little flaming and whining. Even now the forums there have way less whining than most other games, but the F2P move has increased the whining exponentially of course.
Hmm, Rift forums must have improved dramatically after the drop-off when the intial 6 month subs dropped off. Before that I recollect massive flame wars over things like raid v. casual, dungeon efficiency v. play-what-you-want, critic v. fan and various entitlement issues. There was even a poster whose writing style and preferences remind me a lot of Vayne, except he was anti-Rift. Many threads there devolved into people arguing with him for pages on end.
To be honest, the GW2 forums have been pretty civil until recently. However, as the game progresses and ANet does not address some posters’ dissatisfaction, those posters seem to be getting more negative and more strident. Of course, the reaction to these posters can also get a touch over-the-top also.
They did. I played Beta but didn’t purchase the game until about the 6 month mark after release, by the time I had started playing Rift most of the content was fixed/balanced, they were rolling out monthly content patches (with lots of content and it was permanent most of the time) and the forums only had people who enjoyed the game really posting there.
From what I have gleaned from others, Rift just had a bad launch, like many many MMO’s before it. The game is really one the best out there these days.
Subs do make a difference. No one wants to pay $15 a month to whine on the forums. No one that I know anyway :P
EDIT: Oh and the Devs actually respond on the Rift forums with more than a copy pasted response or just something snarky to meaningful thread. They would listen to the ideas that the community upvoted and liked, and tried their best to make this happen in game. It is truly a change from other MMO’s where Devs hardly ever respond, and Trion really spoiled me on this.

Maybe 99.5%
You guys are fine. This week wasn’t too bad anyway.
Question for DB. Why is there never any green in Mag BL? Are they really strong on their home BL or are you guys avoiding it this week?
With these “Blowouts” matches we haven’t been able to rally enough forces to man all of the maps. And when we do get an organized 20 – 30. Mag has very effective coordinated forces to counter groups that size. Just what I have observed, at least during NA time we just need more people on. Hope that gives you some perspective Furious beard.
Pretty much this. I know I haven’t WvW’d personally since Sunday since it’s blowout week I have been catching up on my console games and the DS. Maguuma naturally falls as a lower priority target as they are the up ranked server in this match, FA is more of a threat to our lead.
Not say fighting Mags isn’t fun when we can get them in the open field and not have them run halfway across a zone
I really do likes me some Maguuma.

Plz dont release temporary things these days
