I see what you are saying. Really this question boils down to personal opinion. I found PS2 to be a shallow awful remake of the original myself, but plenty of people enjoy it still. The sub fee is a moot point, if its worth 15 a month to you, then it’s worth it. It may not be for someone else. I just tend to lean towards sub games myself and I will say GW2 was a breath of fresh air not having 15 or 30 dollars tacked onto my bank statement every month.

1. ANet has said many times they have several teams (some working on bugs and stability, some working on adding content etc). They are not mutually exclusive.
2. For me, the games stability and bugs are insignificant (I personally rarely if ever come across them, outside of PvE culling). These are not game breaking, but lack of content is for me. I’d love to see more areas open up to explore.

Personally I like the Indian theme but prefer the Cantha theme.

A game that’s released with a monthly fee today, is just an indication that the game is so bad, even the developers themselves don’t believe in it. Games are so popular now, that the money made from purchases alone, is enough to make a profit. Anything ells is just icing on the cake.

Wouldn’t pay a monthly fee, this game is one of the best B2P games out there, but it’s not good enough to be worth $15 a month even as I much as I love it. I can pay a monthly fee elsewhere and actually get monthly content updates that are fun or new.

Gonna have to agree with Shonie on this one. Every class has a ranged option. Couple that with the fact melee hasn’t really been viable beyond stealth classes in the last 6ish years of MMOs and it’s kind of a no brainer.

We are not asking for much, just an instance with nothing in it. Setting up GvG on a broderland is messy. Crippling lag if you want to play primetime, the “audience” attacking the opposite team, teams taking up valuable queue spots and so on.
A replica of the Ruin Island with teams starting on each bridge. We don’t even need a scoring system or nothing, we will sort that out ourselves.

Well if they can make it happen without pulling Devs off the ability lag situation, I’d like to see it for all you competitive guilds out there

No, tough luck, either dont give privledges to new members or get used to people taking things out of the guild bank. This is not anything new and has been happening since the first guild banks years ago.

Yea, is a despicable awful thing to do, but the guild leader is at the same fault if not more for giving permission in the first place. Also people talking about suing and perma bans are in la-la land, I doubt you will see perma bans for GL mistakes in any game.

At the current plant/tree ratio in relation to the area at approx 50% max volume (considering the natural plant/tree communication frequencies) would result in a resonance of Tyria’s core at a massive scale (or roundabout the equivalent of 126.3 teratons of TNT). If you are using high difelity speakers (if you don’t know what that is you don’t have one) you don’t have to worry about them, but your monitor will scatter. People with cheap head sets and speakers do not have to worry as they are not able to replicate the volume and frequency needed.

There’s a massive difference between fighting in T5 and fighting a T3 server that had a bad week and one that bounces between T4/T3. Also, YB did the right thing by getting to 2nd floor stonemist. You guys fighting in the lords room was not a good move. You should have waited until DB cleared the second floor before making your move. You can’t make yourselves the bigger immediate threat then call them out for smashing you to bits.

Negative, drama is a major factor in leaving several other games I have played. No inspect, no gs, no guild drama, very few people care who the #1 guild is, especially since it is nearly impossible to measure in PvP.

Duels would be fine, though it should be set to a certain zone or zones, no huge duels in LA please.

This has not been the case for the past 2 weeks. There is actually a thread in the WvW forums about best reputed servers and TC seems to be a favorite for a lot of people in WvW as well, they must be doing something right

I have to say I have only met a few servers since I really got back into GW2 and WvW, and TC was the best by far. Was a joy fighting them, even if they did outnumber both DB and Mags.

This is what I did last night. Crafted 40 of them for around 80s cost, so the monthly almost pays you back completely for crafting them.

Why must all games be the same? Companies that try to copy the standard stuff are criticized for not being innovative and for leaving out (insert feature x, which many people cannot do without). Companies that try something new are criticized for not including all of the old standbys and for not being innovative enough. The gaming customer base is broad and diverse enough that no game is going to get “it” right for everyone.

I’m not going to tell people who want the features in the OP to go elsewhere, but I am going to ask, "Given the pre-launch publicity of GW2, why did you buy it if you wanted all those features?

Most companies claim they have the newest and most revolutionary MMO yet. That is nothing new, and it didn’t change my view about the game at all, I came into it expecting another MMO, and that’s pretty much what it is without proper aggro mechanics and grouping features, but with added bonuses like DEs, WvW, and Personal Story.

The combat is amazing and classes fun to play, and it did have some cool new ideas, I love WvW and no quest hubs, but on the whole, it didn’t really change anything about MMOs, and showed why trinity is as important as it is. If you are getting rid of aggro mechanics that work, at least have a working replacement.

Don’t take this as a bash post, because I have no intention on leaving this beautiful world Anet has created again anytime soon, but I didn’t expect anything groundbreaking with this game so maybe that’s why I’m enjoying it.

Anet said how they want a strong community for gw2, and ther are mini communities which are the servers. The lfg tool destroyed many server commnities in wow, i know, mine was one.

Personally I never experienced a destruction of community after the LFG tool was introduced in WoW. The community was garbage to begin with on most servers, and the LFG tool didn’t change that. I know on Magtheridon it actually helped the community when it came out because it let you meet new people to play with when guildies and friends weren’t online. It’s not like you could meet a lot of these people in the chat channel, because a lot of people turned those off for obvious reasons.

Sounds like you need a new computer. You can get a computer that can run this game on high settings for 500 dollars.

My 3 year old budget PC runs this game on Medium and I haven’t crashed a single time in the past 4 weeks since I came back after a hiatus.

Lack of a LFG tool and a valid party UI is killing this game for me as an MMO at the moment. Have been playing nearly a month again now, and It’s really sad that I cant hop in a LFG queue 7 months after release.

Let’s be honest here, the UI in this game is abysmal and makes MMO’s made in 2004 blush from how big a of a step back it is.

Don’t get me wrong this game is fun and I’m enjoying my time, but it doesn’t really do anything well in multiplayer PvE combat. It’s so hard to find groups for anything it may as well be a single player PvE experience minus zone events and DE’s.

No, sadly most of the world has to get real jobs not pertaining to what colors look pretty together like it’s a hard decision. The Sky blue/yellow is pretty awful, but I feel like the “peach” or “melon” colors mixed with sky blue are even worse.

It’s a great casual MMO.

I wouldn’t say it’s the most casual because of the gated gear treadmill they put in place is a lot harder than some other MMO’s out there.

I taked that time with my first character. About 80 hours for lvl 80 and 40 of grind in orr for ecto. But now with acended you need a lot of time for only 1 piece of gear

I wish they would have made weapons as flexible as traits and skills. Would like to see you have to pick 5 skills out of, say, 15 available.

So far this is my only big complaint. I’d like to run around with with a shield and sword on my Guardian, because well that just feels right to me, but I want the utility of Staff as I’m already addicted to it’s usefulness. Would be nice to have weapon skill traits to swap them out.

Man, If it only takes 120 hours to get a fully geared character I’m glad I picked this game back up!

I bought it back during release and ended up returning it, but was fully engulfed by Rift’s expansion at the time, not because GW2 was bad or anything. After months of grinding dungeons/raids and 300 hours of play time later I’m still not in the best gear in that game.

To the OP: Yes there is a time investment, but if it’s only 120 hours for max level and gear, GW2 headed in the right direction.
