The way I see it the person laying dead for five minutes is more reportable for wasting a slot in WvWs that someone else could be using, rather then the ones keeping an eye on his spying, regardless of what they have to do to pass the time wasted whilst spotting his corpse for nefarious activity, or did you close it because of the spying is reportable?

It’s not. It’s common sense. There doesn’t need to be a moderator post to confirm this. It really doesn’t matter either way. Spies will always be there, and people will always emote

The things that has driven the 2 RL friends that have played are this:

No LFG tool/party tool/dungeon tool. This should really be basic UI at this point in any online game.

One of my friends was completely lost when I told him he couldn’t be a tank, but I don’t think this needs to change. Roleless combat works in this game, but pretty much this game exclusively.

The other quit after he realized there was nothing to do at end game except grind for a legendary or run fractals all day. He’s not into WvW the same way I am, and I can see where he is coming from. At 80, there really is nothing to do in PvE.

Personally what I see driving people away is the lack of bug fixes over long durations of time and lack of options at level 80. We get filler content like SAB and F&F, not meaningful bug fixes or improvements to WvW which has been neglected since release.

I will say the good thing about being a primarily staff Guardian is that if you do add on people, they usually are very appreciative I try to not run solo because it’s not exactly my professions strong area.

And PLEASE Anet, oh my god PLEASE fix 1h sword for guardian. I will trade my left foot to actually look like I want to look on my character without gimping myself. Also I wouldn’t say no to a short bow or something, anything really, for ranged on guardian. Scepter doesn’t cut it.

This definitely. I will admit to going to take a camp a time or two and run into 3 or 4 people and I end up following them around for a bit going from objective to objective. And even though I’m not a big duels fan, I’ll always watch duels or GvG rather than interrupt. I feel like I learn something new every time I watch people play anyway, let’s face it, I’m not as quick as I used to be.

If there is a guild or a smallscale team that wants to run by themselves and politely ask you not to follow them, then by following them you are simply griefing. Sure, it can happen coincidentially that you meet at some supply camp or points but that’s not what I am seeing. It’s not like you can’t do other things in the zone except grief your fellow players.

You can’t call dibs on objectives or sections of a map.

Dude if you could really do that, I think they might actually let you hahaha Seriously though, this is a good point. The main thing to remember is if you wanna roam in a small group, pick an enemy BL. EB and your own BL is usually full of people from your own server.

I love glowies. I had a nice collection going in Daoc, and to a lesser extent DDO. Glowie armour though? Sounds odd. Wouldn’t mind a couple of shiney armour skins but glowing ones might be a bit much.

Oh man me too. I paid far out the kitten for any and all glowy weapons at one point on alb daoc. I had 4 or 5 bank tabs full of different ones. Love the blue to orange flame look they had on swords

Yeah I’m pretty sure they’re all armor skins that are already in the game, they’re just not the ones from the character select screen. Also I agree with the person who said the “legendary shop” looks like a screen shot of a gold sellers website.

I am not sure this would be a good idea. A guild could actually try to vote another commander off this way and it would be too easy to use for griefing.

I still can’t tell whether I think the developers are actually interested in following the philosophy of GW1 and trying to make their games better to prove that it can work – or if they are simply making their games more like generic MMO’s to sell copies and count their money.

If they are indeed doing the first, no matter how much I think they released the game too early or have major flaws in combat, I support them.

I’m not so sure there are only two options here. Maybe they are neither trying to be like Guild Wars 1 or like WoW.

They don’t need to be making it like GW1, simply that they are actually trying to make a better game, similar to when they made GW1, they were trying to make a better game. I’m not convinced they are.

A lot of fanboys tell me that they are trying to make a game to make everyone happy. That doesn’t equate to making a better game, it just equates to making a game that will get everyone to buy it regardless of whether they will like it for long. IMO, of course.

Trying to make a game where different demographics of players have something to do, is not quite the same as trying to keep everyone happy. I guess you think they should make a game that just keeps players that like what you like happy, and I guess that’s fair enough.

I know that not everyone plays like me, so they have to make stuff for other people too. Because it’s a big ambitious game and it needs people to play it. That won’t happen if they don’t support different demographics.

How well they’re doing depends on who you ask. I think that abandoning some of the stuff that people had problems with in Guild Wars 1 (even people who played it later), isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I don’t give a flying kitten if they make a game that I like. What I do care about is this company used to mean something. They used to try and make a game objectively better – not just try to make a game that is OK just to make a lot of people happy just to sell a lot of copies. If I wanted a game that was made just to sell a bunch of copies I can pick one up anywhere.

They had a manifesto – that no matter how you read it – had grand visions of making a game that would appeal to people who don’t like MMO’s. They had a vision of, IMO, making a game objectively better and not falling into the same traps as the same old MMO.

Regardless of how well they accomplished this, I am not certain that they stuck to their guns and didn’t sell out for the cash.

You seem to think that making a game for the masses and trying to become rich is OK. So do I, I just don’t give a kitten about a company that tried to do that. What I did once care about, is that ANet wanted to make the perfect game, and in doing so, would happen to attract players. Not just making a game to attract players to make money.

Just gonna pop in here and say Anet’s perfect game IS the one that makes them the most money. What individual players want is really irrelevant, they are a company and expecting them to act like a business has feelings for people is pretty silly for any company. A lot of companies try to act like it’s important but most of us know better.

Eh, whatever. I don’t farm, and don’t judge my progress in terms of gold/hr. I play the game, and do various things that involve playing the game, and stuff happens. It’s good enough for me.

The other day I gained five levels on an alt by messing around with crafting for a bit. Not because I determined that I can make more money doing this than farming world bosses or something, but because I felt like it.

That is awesome I agree, when I do gather up enough in my collections from doing the daily I do the same. Nothing like a free level or 3 just from crafting

The game was designed with you not being able to communicate or see the enemy troop movements.

That to me says spying is just another tactic kids use to try to get ahead when they are bad players. If you really need to cheat to try to win in WvW, I weep for you and your ego.

Spying also invalidates the point of scouting classes, and just really ruins the fun element of surprise that WvW PvP brings. It’s the reason DAoC was so successful, and the reason WvW has become a sleeper hit feature for GW2. The element of surprise in WvW will always out do any feeling of formulaic arena combat for me, and I have years of experience playing both types of PvP to back that up.

If you want to play without an element of surprise and where everything is given to you, go play sPvP.

When I first started I mined every darn outcropping in the zone that I could find. I battled vets to get at the one rich ore outcropping they guarded (ice imps, hate em).

Uh, I only mine just what I need to get the daily gatherer done, and pretty much everyone I have talked to does the same since most crafting materials are worth next to nothing on the TP.

Strange, I mine/chop/gather everything I come across and clean out the collectibles bank every few days. I usually make a gold or two for doing things that aren’t really going out of my way.

I can literally make more money doing other things in the time it takes me to mine most nodes. To each their own. I will say if a Rich vein happens into my path, I’ll usually mine those.

Great fights last night in DBBL and EB, had a blast fighting you Yak’s and Mags, and that is an impressive NA zerg you have Mag, hadn’t seen it full force before!

This is a great find, but use this information with caution! Remember, not everyone gets an achievement every day or every week for that matter. Still a good catch OP

And, when using that #3 it does “evade, evade, evade, evade” the entire time so that you can work through static fields, damage pools, and direct hits while slicing enemy’s to the ground. The damage of the thing is not sub par, either. It hits huge, and I’ve got 2-3 guildmates who constantly fight over who picks up the spare I drop.

Maybe I’m using it wrong. In fact, I’d love to be wrong and discover my disappointment with this and other elementalist elite skills is due to my incompetence (which is easily fixed) rather than fundamental design flaws (which only developers can fix).

If you’re talking about PvE, I don’t really PvE anymore (far too boring), so maybe I should have made that clear earlier.

In PvP, I run your stereotypical bunker D/D (pow/pre/tough). I haven’t found situations where it’s useful to risk the cast time for the sword to just dish out some dps when the sword otherwise functions extremely well as a kite or escape measure. I’m also not sure if the dps is actually significantly greater than what I can do with dagger skills, and I find that I need the skills available on various attunements—for stuns, heals, condition damage or removal, etc.—over against raw dps.

At least, that’s where I’m coming from. I’d be interested to hear how this assessment is incorrect.

Makes sense. I thought we were talking about PvP anyway, why PvE at 80 is how I feel too hehe. Honestly I have never seen anyone use the FGS in WvW so I can’t tell you if it works as well or not.

I consider and hour a day 3-5 times a week casual. If you think you had it bad, those type of players can do little more than their dalies.

Isn’t that the truth, playing 3 or 4 days a week a few hours at a time, most weeks it feels like I accomplish next to nothing. Other weeks I feel accomplished, depends on how long the dailies/chest runs take before I can get into WvW

It will probably be impossible to give Ascendeds for badges. Some people are sitting on hundreds or thousands, meaning they could purchase all Ascended items at once, and Anets wants it to be a treadmill extending over months or a year.

More likely is some kind of new WvW daily or event that awards laurels.

Let’s hope Anet knows enough about MMO’s to know that 1 set of gear progression for a year of play time is not going to work. Just going to kitten off casual players and the hardcore players stay bored.

BTW, your proposed way hasn’t worked, has it? You consumed WoW and SWTOR and both offer gear progression. And, if you haven’t noticed, Anet agrees with you. They haven’t realized, however, that the pace of their gear progression won’t satisfy the hardcore grinder. Perhaps they are beginning to notice; I haven’t really noticed.

The time is actually ripe for a new kind of MMO, one that is current with the best thinking in game design.

I’m confused as to what you mean by “impact on the world”. If you want the world to physically change, you should play other genres, MMOs hardly ever have game world changing events.

Basically, If you want to feel like you have an impact on the world, play Skyrim, or KoA, or Red Faction and break down buildings.

Sorry if this isn’t what you meant, but impacting the world is not something that happens in MMOs.

Biggest issue is gold grind. Been doing some fractals and got item for ascended book. I remembered theres some ectos needed and skillpoints. What I frogot is my book needs 250 powerfull bloods. 38,5s ea this means 96,5 GOLD!!! What in this doesnt make this game korean grind fest? All that matters in this game now is how fast u can grind gold nothin else. T6 mats should be inflated alot and put them drop more and in WvW too.

Yea Anet has trouble differentiating between a decently time consuming but fun build up to a legendary weapon with cool graphics and a Korean style grind for the legendary that makes even Lineage 2 look better.

I disagree, you don’t need “progression” to make an experience fun and engaging. Chess, checkers, Gin Rummy, Bridge, Euchre, Poker, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and a host of other activities do not have “progression” as we’ve been discussing it.

This is probably going to be the case. I don’t think DB has improved enough over the past month to get beyond 3rd place in T2, but I may be wrong.

Try a different class. I found the lack of weapon swap crippling for Ele’s as well, was much happier as Guardian and Mesmer.

When tweens/forum trolls lose all hope, fall back on the entitlement generation card. Because nothing denotes humanity more than broad sweeping generalizations. Especially when I know 18 year olds with more maturity than 70 year olds.

For the OP: This game is not for you, and if you can’t see the PvP is completely different from WoW I don’t know what to tell you. I am an ex Grand Marshal from Magtheridon, and while I have not devoted nearly as much time into this game’s PvP yet, I can tell you it is nothing like WoW in WvW.

Speaking with your wallet =/= crying. If a company does something that doesn’t please you or benefit you, you don’t spend money on them. It’s pretty basic consumer behavior and really has nothing to do with crying.
