Make it so that they have to be voted on by the server itself while in WvW. I know, it can be abused, but still…everybody who plays and knows the good commanders would vote them immediately.

To expand upon this, have a poll type screen in-game on server reset days, say for 4 or 5 hours. During that time, people vote on 5 or so people to be commanders that week, and one high commander. Give the high commander more tools, like being able to set waypoints on the map everyone can see, and maybe a special on screen raid warning type chat commands as well to help lead during those big 50v50 battles.

Just an idea, not sure how I feel about it yet as it just hit me.

Or just bring down NSP and HoD to tier 8 so i can fight them again…they were fun. Had solo roamers, small group roaming, the zergs werent all that big, was nice.

I like this idea. Maybe they could do 1 week a month that is “Jumble Week” where the tiers you have laid out there get randomly placed. You could even make it not affect the ratings, or have a 50% of normal affect on the ratings. Just mix it up some, it’s not a bad idea really!

If there’s one tier where this would work the best it is the top tier. Not having to worry about dropping down since you’re so far ahead anyway. And if you ganged up on JQ, you’re scores would be higher anyway.

BG is too busy trying to find another server to transfer off to stack on, and SoR hates BG so much I don’t even think they know JQ exists.

More like a heartbreaking loss. For some of us it isn’t all about damage. I love the engineer because of the one thing it does better than every other profession combined; versatility.

Yea I’m just playing around. I really feel for engis, it was the first character I made and I got to level 17 and deleted it promptly after I made a guardian and elementalist. I really wish they would give engis some love!

This subject always comes up and my response is always the same. ArenaNet has intentionally trained their player base to not look for the Unique tag since it only appears on a small number of lvl 80 items. If ArenaNet actually wanted to teach people about game mechanics like this, then they would have introduced some Unique items in the lower level areas of the game. Most people will mess themselves up when they initially encounter Unique items. It would have been far kinder to have people learn things the hard way when they’re lower level and still rapidly leveling, which would help to negate much of the impact of their mistake and it would still provide a valuable learning experience.

The issue here is that Ascended gear was never planned from the beginning.

ArenaNet simply noticed that a massive amount of players from other MMOs bought GW2… And then got bored.

In a failed attempt to “fix” this, they introduced Ascended gear (and with it gear-progression).

So they introduced an item rarity that was never supposed to exist and felt the need to be “cool” and add “Unique” to them.

I’m sure the discussion went like this:
“What about making these Ascended rings unique, like WoW’s high-end trinkets?”
“Oh, yeah, man! That’d be cool.”

That makes a good bit of sense. And that conversation probably went exactly like that lol. No in depth discussion or anything, just sure why the hell not!

That’s not even the problem. The problem is breeding elitism through a ficitional useless number people will put stock in even though it’s just a measurement of time invested. The only reason to honestly have leaderboards is for PvP, any kind of quantifiable PvE metric gets grabbed and ran with. I weep for the future of dungeons if they come out with stats like dungeons ran, speed clear stats, etc.

Just a bad idea overall, going to cause fragmentation.

Maybe the Speed clear thing isn’t that big of deal for pugs, but total dungeons ran, how many times each dungeon, etc. will become a big deal, whether it is now or not.

If people want a speed run type deal, fine, do it by guild not by group or player.

I played WoW since closed beta phase 2 to end of CATA and demo’d MOP. So I’ve got a good idea of how it functions. Nonetheless, guilds should consist of players who have the same ideals you have and enjoy playing the game in a similar fashion, no? Yes, these changes might force guilds to split and/or change their goals/ideals, but in the long run I really don’t see how that is an issue.

If you don’t think something splitting a guild apart is an issue I really don’t know what to tell you. We’ll just disagree, to me guilds are important, to others I can see why they wouldn’t be.

First thing: I would do, Eliminate DR. That crap has no place, I would rather gold farmers run rampant than be punished for playing the game I paid for.

Second thing: Just outright remove engineer from the game or completely rework the class from the ground up. I was so excited to try an engineer when I bought the game. Now it’s like why drive a pinto(engi, possibly necro) when I can drive a Ferrari (ele, guard, warrior, mesmer)

Third thing: Add more unique weapon graphics to the game. I have no problem finding unique outfits, but nearly every weapon in the game looks the same! There are only like 10 models for each weapon type! Shame!

Fourth: Make my Norn’s racial abilities ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING!

There should definitely be a warning. The only other game I can think of that uses Unique the same way is WoW, but not everyone has played that. EQ used Lore items, so if someone came from EQ they would have no idea as an example.

Not only that, but MMO’s haven’t really changed much in the last 10 years. GW2 certainly hasn’t done anything game changing that we can’t find pieces of in other games.

Time based grind is just bad lazy design. Sure, it works, but it can be better. Logically, objectively, it can be better. That is all.

Also, don’t you think that it would be a bit ridiculous to suggest that if someone made the perfect game, no one would play it? That would be like saying that if someone made a perfect pizza, the best pizza in the world, no one would eat it.

The MMO market is stale, and your attacking players because they want something better, by saying maybe MMO’s aren’t for them, is the antithesis of innovation. But, we have been down this path before haven’t we? You seem to be against anything innovative because you would rather blindly defend GW2 and ArenaNet.

People have written amazing books that haven’t sold. And other very pedestrian books have sold very well. You can’t tell what people will and won’t buy. Often something comes out before it’s time and does badly when it might have done well at a different time.

And you keep using that word lazy design. Your opinion. I think it’s quite logical if “good” content takes time, to put in filler until you can get that good content out. Every MMO does it.

Filler content is what got MMO’s into the mess the industry is in the first place, let’s not continue making content that destroys the intent of a game, especially when the game’s manifesto specifically said it wasn’t going to be another grind MMO.

I see where you are coming from, it can’t be all triple a content every week every patch, but I would rather them add real content every 2-3 months than what we have been getting like laurel/daily grinds, Flame and Frost, which I’m still even sure what the point of F&F is, and SAB? Yea SAB is cool and fun and innovative for an MMO mini game, but it’s not content with staying power or lasting appeal.

Simple solution would be to make the acsended gear available through other currencies, other than laurels. i.e. Karma, crafting, WvW badges. Than everyone would be able to use the method they prepfer. It is really that simple. You should not have to redesign the wheel by making additional currencies.

The reason why they didn’t make ascended gear available through other currencies is that newer players would be at a larger disadvantage than players who have a pool of karma. That’s the industry standard reason for introducing new currencies as a rule.

I’ve been playing since day 1. I have a LOT of karma. I could have decked out every single one of my characters in ascended gear, even if it was expensive as hell. But a guy playing a month, he now would have to play catch up. He’d look at it and feel he might never catch up. By making it so anyone can get an ascended amulet in 30 days if that’s what they want, they’re actually make it fairer, not less fair.

That’s why he has laurels, WvW, etc. If you give 4 or 5 ways to attain the gear, there really is nothing to complain about. A new player can just pick the path they prefer or the path of least resistance.

I feel like skills and gear are handled well. If there was one thing I hated about other MMO’s it was half my screen being taken up by situational skill filled hotbars. I don’t miss having 100 abilities at a time at all.

As far as zones go, maybe we can get an update to zones that already exist? Make all events reward similar to boss event chests so maybe people go to the zones we have between 30-65 now.

I am not sure you can really ‘search’ for one. I think I have around 1300 play hours, opened literally 1000s of meta chests, and thrown an unbelievable amount of stuff into the MF. Still, I ended up just buying my precursor.

Last week, though. Venom dropped from (I assume) a Krait in Sparkfly during the event where they attack the lab neat Teq. (Only a guess since I didn’t notice picking it up until I went to sell after the event).

But I know people with more hours and an UNREAL amount invested in the MF that are still empty handed. Either save the gold or play and pray.

This is pretty much the best answer you will get. It’s a very small chance any way you go about, and I’d say probably 95% of people will farm the money before they get the certain precursor they want. This isn’t a real statistic by any means, just what I have observed. Hell we had a precursor drop for someone last night in guild, too bad it was the scepter and he was trying to farm the 1h sword.

Generally IMO you want to go with a nordic sounding name, as it seems to fit Norn lore the closest. Some examples would be

etc.etc. This is just my opinion, really you should name your character what sounds right to you

I don’t know if they have thought of this yet and bashed the idea for unkown reasons. But why can’t we spawn at any waypoint on the map after character selection on login? It’d save the trouble of loading twice for an event or just to get to a guild party. Simple but a very nice feature i think alot of players inlcuding me would enjoy.

Stop targeting the amulet at all, there is no point in it. If the frog glances left or right in preparation of ground slamming that side the amulet is targetable. As such, all you have to do it run up to the amulet when you see him glance and hit 1. You will swing your stick, regardless of what is targetted, and you will hit the amulet. When he looks down to ground slam the middle you can’t attack the amulet. When he looks side to side then opens his mouth you can’t attack the amulets. The only time you can attack the amulet is when he attacks left or right.

Learn the boss mechanics and the fight becomes significantly easier.

Consider this: For players that don’t know what to do/Don’t have a fixed objective that time. The dailies are a good way to pass the time in a game they want. If you don’t want to do the dailies, don’t :p

Then remove laurels from daily quests, as laurels are pretty much required if you are serious about WvW, which is kind of backwards to start with, why do I need laurels from PvE content for WvW anyway? Where is my WvW ascended gear merchant? Questions upon questions.

I was expecting in game leader boards. I can look at PvP leaderboards on a few websites already, and they have more information than these leaderboards do. Not trying to be a debbie downer here, but I hope there is A LOT more to these leaderboards that will come out, because right now it’s a dumbed down version of millenium.

Dailies are just a way of gating content and being lazy on the production of new things to do for your players. It always has been, since they were introduced, and probably always will be. I have been saying for years dailies are filler content of the worst order, and it’s nice people are starting to realize just how bad of an excuse for “content” a daily quest really is. Dailies make any game feel like a grind really fast, and it’s what has made me quit many games including WoW and Rift most recently.

Just say no to gated content that feels like a job please!

Guardians don’t really hit hard, and the higher level you get the more you will realize this. Engies are just in a bad place in every aspect at the moment. If you want to just decimate things even at high level play a warrior or elementalist, Guardian is great if you are shooting for survivability however.

I don’t see why someone should be banned for winning.

I already miss CD for their JP action. Yaks and DB are awful at JP. Ive seen a total of like 7 in JP so far. DB at least use to send people there, step up your game.

My list:
1. Fix poison. Sometimes I can stand in it 5 seconds, other times it hits me twice in about half a second
2. Increase skin drop rate. It’s horrendous.

An “elegant” solution is ordinarily one that addresses the supposed problem without collateral effects. You know that SAB has actually been getting a lot of attention from onlookers, right? There are probably people buying the game just for SAB and your solution would arbitrarily prohibit them from jumping into the content that they explicitly purchased the game for.

One possible solution here is to remove the daily limit on these chests since Anet apparently doesn’t care about the farming anyway. Why is it even there?

But I can say it again, as someone who attends the Dragonbrand Command meetings, and talks to many of our commanders at various times, there is no truce and no alliance of any sort with YB.

But as an aside, if we wanted to form an alliance with another server that would be perfectly legal and fair. ANet has designed WvW with inter-server cooperation in-mind. That is why we have a three server paradigm.

If Dragonbrand ever does do an alliance with another server we will announce it. We would have no reason to hide it. It would be to our advantage to announce it to demoralize the enemy.

I don’tr like DR. I don’t know how anyone could. It’s not my intention to just complain about it. Here’s the problem:

I like being all over the map for events. It’s fun in theory. However not long into playing, I am alone and bored There’s champions and events that I have to pass up because I am alone.

So what then? I go to one of the few places that people cluster for events. I start having fun again and Boom DR kicks in.

With such a large and lovely map, I feel as if I am being funneled to chest events because no one else is anywhere else. If that isn’t punishemnt enough, I get DR for playing where it is fun.

I don’t even like playing at the same places repeatedly. However, Dr is one of these systems that your kitten if you do and your kitten if you don’t.

Also, I’m never 100% sure when it kicks it. How about a meter or some indication that I have hit it?

God yes, I’ll trade my firstborn for some kind of notification that DR has been enabled. As it stands now people only regularly visit 6 areas of the game, everything 25-70ish is a complete ghost town with no hope of completion on some of the champ events. Could we maybe get some kind of reward for these areas no one is ever in where I end up trying to solo champions? Harathi, I’m looking at you, and your gigantic spider.

The monthlys have always been pretty good. If you just play normally, you don’t have to go far out of your way to get them if your a casual. But they still challenge you to go do something different. I don’t like the dailys though, they ruin the game experience for me on a daily basis as I have to go out of the way every day to make sure I get them. I play alot, like 5hours a weeknight and have to go out of my way to do 2 or 3 tasks which can be time consuming. The dailys don’t cater for the average gamer who plays alot less and it should.

This I can agree with. The monthly feels like it happens naturally, some days I find myself skipping the daily because it’s sending me to the four corners of the earth and I only have an hour or two to play.

WvW is meant to be army vs army, not 2v2 happy fun time arena duel hour. The problem isn’t zergs or WvW, it’s players who want a game catered completely to their playstyle.

That being said superior numbers don’t always win either. Last night we routed SoS when they had us outnumbered about 40 to 25 or so when we split our force.

Play smart, 1 1 1 1 1 f f f 1 1 1 1 doesn’t win battles.
