Hello fellow Norns,
I’m looking for a favor; After playing for about 7 months as a Norn (and loving it!), I’ve come across a dilemma. I’m currently playing as a male Norn Warrior and I recently found a Total Makeover Kit in a Black Lion chest. Now I’m thinking of changing my character into a female Norn Warrior. I’m really fond of this idea, but there’s one thing holding me back: Will my armor still look good on a female? I’ve tried it out on my female Human Mesmer (by previewing it) and it looks great. The only problem I have is that I’m wearing Norn cultural Tier 3 shoulders, which I obviously can’t preview on my Human mesmer. My favor is the following: Can someone with a female Norn (or an open character slot) preview my Warrior armor and submitting a screenshot here?
Just copy and past the following codes in the chat and preview it (right-click). You can whisper it to yourself if you don’t want to bother anyone
.
- Cultural t3 shoulders: [&AgHUDgAA]
- Arah chestpiece: [&AgEuRgAA]
- Arah legguards: [&AgExRgAA]
- Citadel of Flame boots: [&AgHDQwAA]
- Fused gauntlets: [&AgGypQAA]
- Molten greatsword: [&AgGpQwAA]
- Primary color: [&AgEBUAAA]
- Secondairy color: [&AgH0UAAA]
- Tertiary color: [&AgEAUAAA]- full code: [&AgHUDgAA][&AgEuRgAA][&AgExRgAA][&AgHDQwAA][&AgGypQAA][&AgGpQwAA][&AgEBUAAA][&AgH0UAAA][&AgEAUAAA]
Thanks in advance!

Give me a few minutes and I’ll log in on the work laptop and preview it for you.
EDIT: There ya go! Also added a back picture.

As for traps… I see where you’re coming from, but think we need to experience them – and give it time to settle so we can come up with counters – before we decide they have no place in WvW. I really like the increased tactical potential that the idea has, and I doubt that they’ll in any way replace fights or remove the need for fights.
Replace what fights? Most of the fights are gone already. I don’t see how anything they add that allows players to battle eachother besides the things implemented already, could help. It’s hard enough already getting players to fight you. We need people to start relying on their weapon skills and utilities not some extra gimmicks or some overpowered siege engines.
Thank you, could not of said it better myself. The past week has been a lot of door tickling and a little fighting.

Dunno. I think TC just has leadership burnout, FA has been there before and it corrects itself after a while, when new commanders or fresh WvWers are encouraged to step up to the plate and learn the ropes. It’s silly to say that some servers are affected more by finals, PvE events or “having more militia and less hardcore wvw guilds”
I’m pretty sure there’s a large amount of WvW medium/heavyweight guilds on TC these days, some original and some new. I barely see TC guys who aren’t following or tagged with the common WvW guilds like DIS, PiNK, CERN, TV, TSL, CYN, Pro, KH, NAGA, Awe, ZN to name a few off the top of my head.. hell, even most of TC’s posts in the match up threads have DIS, KH or PiNK in their sig.
Out of curiosity, what qualifies a server to be a “militia server”? Or is it the same thing as random FA posters calling our server a “GvG/PvP server”.. ?
edit; I put TV in twice, lol
I don’t think you can qualify any server as anything, as population is generally spread even throughout with a few little quirks here and there, IE TC being the unofficial RP server.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
The roleplay experience is what you make it to be. That’s why it’s called roleplaying. I really don’t understand the problem here, they already have a bunch of useless town clothes which is more than most games do for RP’ers.
Sounds like you are looking for Second Life or a sims online type deal.

Ohio State sucks!
All about the U!
Maybe this year you guys can launder up a better season!

I shared your initial concern coming from Rift, Wow, EQ, EQ2, etc. Where at max level you had literally 30-50 abilities to use and choose from depending on the situation.
I can say after really getting into GW2 and giving it the time it deserves the last few months, lack of abilities is NOT a problem in GW2, once you unlock your utilities and weapon swapping, you have 20+ abilities at your disposal at any given time, and most of them are actually useful and not just situational. Not to say some of them aren’t that great, but they really nailed it for skill selection in this game.
I was a skeptic at first but by level 40ish I was convinced the abilities, while simple, make for some complex situations.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Also would like to apologize to the [PRO] ( I think it was PRO) Ranger that bowed to me last night at Titan in DB BL. I totally would of loved to fight you but you caught me eating dinner while I was getting that last vista I needed near Titan, so it was a one handed dash to the portal hahahaha.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Traps, more kitten people didn’t ask for or want that becomes a balancing nightmare that no one wanted or cared about in the first place.
PLEASE stop adding useless crap to WvW that just makes it even more unbalanced. Thanks.
The EB jump puzzle thing makes me happy though. Less PvE only’s taking up an EB slot.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Honestly, the best weapon models in game for each weapon, none of them are the legendary, so I don’t think it’s a big deal. Not much legendary about 90% of them and the rest have stats I don’t want anyway. There are better looking weapons out there that don’t force you into 1 stat combo.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
That seems to be the trend. NNK is big enough to do what they want at night which means the other two servers are at a disadvantage.
With a little more challenge to them, this tier might be a lot closer.
Not complaining, just observing.
That’s funny, because every night I see FA attacking TC and running scared from DB.
The only way this matchup will have any resemblance of balance is if FA get over their petty obsession with beating TC, and try to fight DB.
It’s more fun to beat up on roleplayers and furry nerds. FA is like the high school jocks of tier 2.
<3 FA and TC

You know the best part about GW2 being free?
There’s none of the irrational sense of guilt or loss people get when they try leaving a subscription-based game (and yes, it is irrational, because you don’t lose anything).
This makes no sense to me. Who feels guilty about leaving a game they are bored with, sub based or not? What? Are people really this weak minded?
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Maybe AC changes aren’t that OP, maybe skilled players are lacking.
As far as I can see, it are the most skilled and hardcore players that are complaining the most about these changes.
Tell me what is skilled about pressing 1/2/3 on an arrowcard.
Indeed… why put together complex multi-person defenses when you can just build an ac, push 1,2,3 and have it destroy all siege/players with the power of an orbital cannon regardless of your weapon/build/gear choices.
sigh Hopeless.
A mass of squirming bodies, thousands and thousands of blind dredge all packed together tight in a cave, unable to move in any direction, stuck where they are, nattering at each other.
“Arrow carts are overpowered! Have you heard?”
“Overpowered? Really?”
“Yes, now you can use a single arrow cart to kill 5 people, easily!”
“Really?”
“YES!!! I’ve been hearing about it all day!!”
“Hearing about what?”
“Arrow carts are overpowered now!!!”
“They are???”
“Yes, one arrow cart can kill ten people, easily!!”
“ARROW CARTS ARE OVERPOWERED!! Stay away from arrow carts!!!”
“What?”
“Arrow carts are overpowered, you can kill 30 people with just 2 arrow carts in a tower.”
“Well that’s ridiculous, 10 of us just captured a tower- some repo job for Lord Dredgula- and it wasn’t anything like-”
“ARROW CARTS ARE OVERPOWERED!!! EVERYONE SAYS SO!!!!”
“WHAT WILL WE DO????”
timid voice in the background “Has anyone noticed that the enemy is still taking our stuff even if we defend it with arrow carts?”
“Everyone ignore that Dredge, he’s a troll.”
“Why am I a troll?”
“ARROW CARTS SHOOT TROLLS AT YOU NOW!!!”Yeah. That’s this debate now.
What? Dude that made no sense.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’d bring in a EQ style Druid (love the buff/heal/dot playstyle) or the Valewalker from DAoC.
More scythe wielding cloth melee please
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
This is what arrow cart arrows now feel like. They cause roughly the same amount of destruction!
correction this is what arrowcarts feel like now
Haha awesome. Love vids like this anyway.

WvW is a living, breathing game type and any changes we make have numerous consequences that don’t become fully visible until everyone starts interacting with them and devising new strategies.
I hope this is a joke ? You try nothing on Alpha serv ? Or the ppl on Alpha serv are unable to assist with some AC ?….
Everyone see the epic fail of AC only by reading the changelog.. don’t try to tell us it was unpredictable….
Except that there are a lot of people who like it…
Yes I’m sure all 7 people who are ecstatic about sitting on a cart for 4 hours every night represent a lot of the people who play WvW. It’s the same 3 or 4 people from what I have seen in this thread. Every poll I have seen on fansites indicate it was an awful change.
No I’m serious, if this change stays 7 people WILL represent a lot in WvW! So I guess technically you would be right. Really there is nothing more to cover in this thread that hasn’t been covered 1800+ times already.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
This is what arrow cart arrows now feel like. They cause roughly the same amount of destruction!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’m actually trying to help you.
I oppose anyone whose position is based on hearsay and lack of evidence. I don’t care if I’m personally right or wrong. Really. If tomorrow Anet comes out and says “Arrow Carts are accounting for far too many victories in WvW; our recent change to arrow carts will be rolled back pending more data”, I’m not going to hide. I’ll be here, and my response will be “Hmm. Really? Oh well.”
Please see:
DevonCarver.5370:
I’d like to shed some light on our thinking with this AC change as well as tell you all what we are doing right now to balance it.
Firstly, when siege weapons were originally created, they had the intent of being really good at some things and not so good at others. The arrow cart is intended to be the anti-personal siege weapon. It is intended that arrow carts are all about controlling an area through damage. If you remain in the area that is being hit by the arrow cart, you will die. You can however, move out of the space and/or find a new way to attack the intended target. That being said, they are not intended to be so good against other siege weapons and we are in the process of addressing that right now. We are also addressing their range when upgraded to be more in line with the range of ballistas.
Secondly, this change is going to require new tactics and those tactics include things like using ballista and catapults to destroy arrow carts. With that in mind, we’ve been looking more closely at the numbers of all the siege weapons and there are definitely some changes that need to be made to bring them in line with their intent. We are going to take a holistic pass at siege weapons in the coming months and drop a rebalance of all of them to get them to more closely align with what they should be doing.
Finally, the feedback you all provide is a very useful part of this whole process. WvW is a living, breathing game type and any changes we make have numerous consequences that don’t become fully visible until everyone starts interacting with them and devising new strategies. Our goal is to provide a complex combat space that rewards skill, tactics, and ingenuity and while we haven’t fully achieved that goal yet, I like to think we are getting there.
So in response to:
FractalChaos.6539:
If you think I’m wrong, if you think arrow carts are overpowered and ruining WvW, if you think ArenaNet has to roll back this change, if you’re really serious about that; prove it.
No need to prove it to you, apparently ANet already agrees with us.
Now would be an appropriate time for you to admit that you were wrong and move along. How odd. When I read Devon’s statement, he seems to say "We’ll be tweaking arrow cart range, as well as their effectiveness against other siege weapons. We’ll also be looking at other siege weapons to see if they need to be better at destroying arrow carts (by extending their range, reducing the AC’s, etc).
I don’t see anything about the arrow cart buff being rolled back. They’re thinking of reducing AC range and AC effectiveness against other siege weapons. I do notice he mentions something else which I find very significant;
“Secondly, this change is going to require new tactics and those tactics include things like using ballista and catapults to destroy arrow carts.”
Is he not telling you there- in a very polite, very politically correct, very adult fashion – to adapt to this change? TO ‘learn new tricks"? Sure looks like it to me. Sure looks like they think the arrow cart damage isn’t the deal breaker you think it is, either.
TL;DR: Arenanet is looking at reducing arrow cart range and making them less effective against other siege weapons, but players themselves have to learn (and I quote again) “…new tactics and those tactics include things like using ballista and catapults to destroy arrow carts.”.
It’s like we aren’t even reading the same post.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
LoL at those jumping in saying that is gonna quit if doesn’t fix it, that’s hilarious!
First, if you and your friends and the entire guild leaves the game they won’t even notice you, it would actually help others, less bad players and shorter queues.
Second, good luck finding a game better then this. Or even close to it.
I haven’t seen a fanboy for a long long time
Just being realistic. And yea Im a fan, but little older for a boy so would be a fanman.
Also since my reply got you buthurt, I can assume you were one of them, poor you.
Funny thing is that some of the players you’re calling “bad” are some of the players reresenting the majority of what realistically are the most talented players in WvW.
BT, for instance, are extremely talented at WvW meta, sieging, open-field combat. They’re also a big guild. They’re also extremely outspoken about how terrible this change has been.
The players you’re going to be losing are the vast swaths of dedicated GOOD players. The bad players aren’t going to know any better.
Bingo, this change is just going to make the good players and serious players leave WvW because it has become a joke. The players that just run to swords or with a whichever group they came across first probably won’t care.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Wow so not only is siege woefully broken now, it may take MONTHS to address some of the problems with it? I mean, the AC thing is as simple as reverting it to the previous level and THEN take months doing whatever the heck you are doing with siege.
No need to ruin WvW for a month or months because of something so easy to revert. Good thing there are ton of betas out right now!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Trying something new only pays off if it’s better than another option. So far this has not been better and actually detracted from the game. I hope for Anet’s sake as well as the players the next living story is more engaging.
Thank you guys for your work and the response.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Lets take this one at a time.
@Caliban.3176
So the idea of when things become harder for zerg makes things harder for small group is true to a point but when you have small group you can hit more then one places at a time. Where a zerg can only hit one target at a time. In effect its how you want to brake down you power do you want to put it into one push on one target or do you want to put it on more then one target knowing that you will fail on a few of them but you still can make ground on the others. This chose should be in the game and this chose is also related to defining too.@Kript.3291
So “Lord Room of Hills, SMC, or garrison” should not be easy targets to take if the other team brings a full zerg on you then you will need one too if its just a small group trying to hid behind there lords its more on the attkers who are failing to take out the real targets (the players) if they cant take the room. These things should not be flipped with a pure PvD and just as fast. These are major points for both sides of the fights because its not just a 10 point lost its a 20 point changes and that IS what wvw is about the points. No one is going to hold any thing forever and things are planed out that way but at the same time there is no reason to hold something for less then 5 mins.Major point i need to add in not related to the post i am responding to. WvW in GW2 is not purely about on the ground fights they are fun but they do nothing to win or lose a week its about WvW weapons and supple movement. Like in real war if you can cut supplies you can win a war. This is not PvP this is WvW nearly a war simulator. If your looking for on the ground fights your in the wrong places.
Let’s see if I can do this without upsetting the kids this time. So we have people that want PvP in WvW and then we have people that want to stand there in one spot shooting at a door/wall/what have you all day.
I don’t really see how this is even a decision.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
People are completely missing the point of this thread…
I don’t think anyone is arguing that the things in the gem store aren’t good… the issue is that ALL the new content is only attainable through the gem store… which would be absolutely fine if this was a f2p game… but we paid $60 for this game (and some people paid even more for the collectors edition) only to be locked out of all the new additions
This very much seems like the case of having your cake and eating it too for ANet… they want to charge people for the game but also use the f2p business model by reserving any sort of desirable new content for the gem store
Either charge people for the game but then add items that could be just as easily attained just by playing the game or just make this f2p and be kings of the cash shop
???? New content has nothing to do with the gem store, and never has? There are things added to the gem store like clothing items and pets and stuff but content is never through the gem store.
Some people consider town clothes content, I know, I know, it’s amazing.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
That’s actually not been my experience thus far. GW2 has been the single most grindy game I’ve ever seen and here’s how.
Legendary – 250 of everything with a deflated drop rate on all T6 materials means months in the works.
Ascended gear – whether it be by dungeon or laurels this takes months as well to farm enough currency to deck yourself out.
Exotic gear – crafting, laurels, and dungeons take different amounts of time however it’s still a grind because it’s basically placeholding you to keep you from noticing the huge gap of content missing. (new metas new open world DE’s are needed big time and monthly solid for the next 6 months to catch up).
— the gold part of the exotic gear for a long time was the worst problem. Sure anyone could go to the TP to buy something IF they spent months in dungeons and WvW getting the sole snippit of loot that was available for 5 months in this game which severely harmed the economy (players) not the bots. DR is ugly in any game. And on top of DR we witnessed them messing with the drop rates of everything in Nov 2012 before the real problems with killcredit began. Love logging back into the game to see that not only have the prices for items in the game (armor and the like) haven’t changed, many of them have become outrageously priced (8-9 gold is not normal folks hate to tell you).
It’s a second job, when your playerbase can only get pennies from their daily activities and sales and the costs for everything are $100 bills. Take a look at how things are priced and you’ll see my point. 100 silver per gold is the equivalent to $1 per silver which means items that are 1 gold are $100. So that item that was 9 gold is $900 in essence, and people think this is perfectly fine. (the ones telling you this in these forums are the headstart people who went thru and farmed everything the first month before the loot changes and have their money and the corner on the market because the purchased items that would be scarce before the changes)
It’s really bad business in the virtual world to manipulate a player based economy this way.
Anyway those are all the ways that this is a grind, and in some cases they are months long. Still haven’t seen that laurel bonus from completing already finished events in my achievements pain. Also another strong point in my argument’s favor.
If the devs truly were gamers who understood gamers and made this game for gamers, and if they truly understood the types of things that harmed gamers in the history of mmo’s we wouldn’t have DR, we wouldn’t have a manipulated drop rate system, and we would have more then one currency so people who are desparate to catch up to their friends aren’t tempted to get gems for gold.
1. I normally have enough gold to buy exotics when I level up an alt. After I leveled my first character it took me 2 days to gear her up. Not to mention if you have no money, go to Orr, buy it with karma. How is it grindy? O_o
2. Legendary is not supposed to be owned by most, that’s why it’s just a skin with no added stats.
3. Ascended amulets and rings are free as long as you have enough laurels. It’s as easy as doing a daily once a day.
4. This game discourages farming. That’s why DR is there.
5. Drops are not manipulated.
6. Laurels, Karma, Gold, various dungeon tickets, guild commendations – we only have ONE currency? That’s new to me.
Go out and play an older MMO where you have to kill extra mobs just to level up, because quests are not enough, where only one gear piece drops in dungeons and all people roll on it, where you have to get tier 1 to get tier 2… This game is not grindy by one bit.
That’s just plainly not true, some games make fighting mobs at a camp fun, this game fails to do that, and not only fails to do that, but places restrictions on it so even though it isn’t fun like in other older games, you also get less drops the longer you do it.
I have come from EQ all the way through Rift most recently, hitting nearly every MMO in between, and the legendary weapon grind in this game is an abomination. Even the Epic weapon quests in EQ that took months to complete when they came out were fun, because it was a quest you could figure out and work towards. There is nothing to figure out about farming 250 T6 mats that hardly drop and RNG mystic clovers.
Whether you agree or not, to me it’s always going to look like a band aid fix for a lack of level 80 content, and I can’t recommend this game to someone who is serious about outfitting their character in the nicest gear or legendary weapons because it’s unobtainable without plain old good luck or RL cash.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
It’s based off the healing power of the applier
IE: When my guardian uses Hold the Line, 5 people gain regen that all ticks for the same thing, and I highly doubt all 5 players have the same healing power.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Looks really cool!, minus anything with RNG, waste of money and development time.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
They could start buy letting us give them money for the skins we want, because they are not getting another dime from me as long as the skins remain under RNG.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Norn or Human, most of the heavy armor graphics are awful for the other races. Asura could be cool maybe if you could even see what they were wearing or looked like, but they are so small 9 times out of 10 I can’t even tell what they are wearing.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
This just in, the US Navy is officially replacing the Phalanx CIWS with Superior Arrow Carts. Costs are expected to be in the trillions.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Many of the things though come back…like Halloween and Christmas content. That we’ll be seeing annually. What Anet is doing, at least in part, is building a library of things they can use.
It’s a very different idea for an MMO and I disagree with the poster who said they’d rather not go through six months of beta testing to see whether or not something will pan out. If everyone thought that way, the industry would be even more stagnant than it is now. Trying new things is what drives the industry forward. Without it, we’d all still be playing pong.
Only this isn’t a new thing. WoW and Rift have recurring seasonal events too, as well as chapters of the story as it unfolds. This whole “living story” thing has been around since WoW tried to do phased instances in WoTLK, it didn’t work out well then, I don’t see how this is going to end any differently.
Every time Rift unlocks a new raid or dungeon there is a 2-3 week event coinciding with the release of it. Only the raids or dungeons stay around forever after the event ends. This isn’t a new idea, and the GW2 version of it is poorly done.
Not even. Phasing for WoW was basically instancing off the open world, separating friends who weren’t on the same quests, and was still a static part of the world (do the phases of Cataclysm at it’s launch and it’s the same if you did an alt character today).
The only closest things that can be compared to the LIVING STORY in GW2 from WoW would be the opening of AQ and the opening of the TBC gate. One time events that are never played again, change the world in some slight way, and give the players a memorable experience (also if you were there for TBC’s gate opening, did the events, you’d get a unique Fel Tabord that you cannot get again, ever..another comparison to this event in that the Gauntlets have the same limitation of most likely not being able to be obtained ever again).
Rift’s events -that’s if they haven’t changed since the first 8-months of the game- consisted of “go kill Dead minions, go close Death Rifts” or whatever rifts related to the content that was launching. That’s not all that interesting, has almost no story context to it save for the tiny bit that’s stored up into the dungeon only. On the other hand, every event that Guild Wars 2 has had EVERY EVENT has had a well woven story tied to it through actions in the game that lead up to it: beached whales and warning signs for the Karka thing, the melting of the water fountain and the ghost stories for Mad King, the airship visits lore and snow for Wintersday, and the refugees, signs, invasion portals and micro story instances for Flame&Frost. Context to the content.
I was talking about the chapter events in the Rift story, not the every day zone events of closing Rifts and Killing minions that is in every game. The chapter events usually have unique fights and events associated with them.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

I played Rift quite extensively when it came out and I HATED the way they did events. I mean really hated them. Because every event became like a daily.
There wasn’t enough content in the game at launch. A tiny fraction of what Guild Wars 2 had to offer. So they hit us with these events. Not like short weekend events. Events that lasted until the next event. As you said, temporary content.
But there wasn’t always a raid attached to it, it was just the next event. And it was always the same. A new set of quests that you did over and over again every day for a new currency. Every event, every time. Drove me nuts.
So you want this minipet from this event, you have to play these events, over and over the same thing every day. That’s NOT the same as the living story idea, that, in theory, will bring changes to the world.
The living story didn’t make me do the same quest every day for more currency to buy the same stuff. It gave me something to do which I could do and forget about. This was very different than what Rift gave me.
And just because it didn’t work in WoW or Rift, doesn’t mean it won’t work here. That’s the nature of experimentation. There are plenty of examples I can think of where someone tries something and someone else tries and it someone else tries it and the third person gets it right. There’s no guarantees of course, but this is a very different game to Rift, with a very different prime audience. I’m not so sure that the Rift players, who were displaced WoW players in the first place, would appreciate this is quite the same way that Guild Wars 1 players might.
I can see your point. I guess my point is Living Story is not “living” up to my expectations personally I found the Rift events to have a richer story and more rewarding gameplay. And the pun is bad, very bad, I’m sorry :p
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Because this isn’t 1999, we aren’t all 16 anymore playing EQ all summer long. I don’t have time to kill thousands of enemies day in and day out. I have work and a family now.
Give me an epic weapon skin quest arc that takes a month or two to do, NOT a collect 100 of 20 different things year long grind! That’s fine if people want to grind like that, but give those of us with sporadic play times that can’t stand sitting in the same spot for hours a way of doing it!
There are plenty of nice skins though that aren’t legendaries. The game needs to provide for people like you, but also people like me, who have a LOT of spare time in which to play.
There are some very nice skins out and I’m sure more will come in time. They’re not legendaries, but they’re still quite cool. You just have to look for them.
Oh I agree with you, there are tons of cool skins out there! Honestly they need a few more of some weapons, but for the most part there is a nice selection out there. A lot of the non legendaries actually look nicer than the legendaries themselves.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Ahh, i see your problem, sry, i forgot about something. Of course, there are also casuals, who want a legendary, but i dont want. My idea is to create a big gap between normal stuff and pestige stuff (mostly, but not only legendaries). This would make normal stuff far easier to obtain for casuals (casuals goes from a few hours and not each day to a few hours three days a month, so even, if you call yourself a casual, there are other casuals, that play even less), but legendaries would not makeable for casuals anymore, but they are only skins.
You can have better skins, but you dont need them, they have no benefit to you and there are enough other skins in the game. But ascended gear gives you also better stats, and although you can also play without them, it is of course an advantage to have them. I think, any player should have a chance to play with max stats (that was, what i loved in GW1, it was may not for free, but for any player payable to have a max armor without farming), but to make them obtainable (easy to get) needs on the other side something not obtainable (legendaries).
Of course, it sucks to see great skins without the chance to obtain them, but if you are really a casual, you should have no chance to get them anyway (you are not a casual, only because others play even more). To say it a mean way, the prestige stuff is rather something for players without a real life, only having the game. If you are a casual, this should mean, that you have things in your life more important than playing the game, so why whinig abot an non-obtainable prestige-skin, only enjoy the game.
Because I paid the same 60$ that anyone else paid and I should have access to the game the same ways as anyone else.
That’s like saying I paid a health spa membership to a gym, but I don’t have the time to work out and I should build muscle or lose weight as fast as the next guy.
When you buy an MMO, you’re not actually buying a game. You’re buying an account. Access to a world. It doesn’t guarantee you’ll get ANYTHING but access to that world. It doesn’t guarantee you’ll like the game, be good enough to beat content (though that shouldn’t represent too much trouble in this particular game), or that you’ll play enough to get everything done in the game.
You know, I paid for a day’s access to Disneyworld, but I was only able to stay there for an hour. Do you think they’ll give me a refund because all I did was ride space mountain once?
I don’t think you understand what he was saying or why I was disagreeing with him.

Because I paid the same 60$ that anyone else paid and I should have access to the game the same ways as anyone else. Why would you want to make an even greater disparity between casual and hardcore, every other game does this to the same or worse extent than guild wars 2 and it causes problems.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
AC’s will have to be changed back or toned significantly back down. Right now it’s just kitten ridiculous.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I believe they have said they are doing living stories in an attempt to give the game a more live feel. If something good sticks around too long it becomes stagnated. However, when it is taken away before this can happen, you are left with your nostalgia. There are indeed pros and cons to this tactic, but this is simply how Anet wants to do things. They are experimenting with what works and what doesn’t. If it doesn’t pan out as planned you can expect them to stop.
I think a better question is why do we have to go through 6 months of beta testing for them to have something not pan out.
It’s sort of difficult to get an idea if something will work or not before they do it at least once. This IS their living story.
In all honesty it shouldn’t be a hard decision. Add a dungeon people can do for years or add a dungeon maybe if they are lucky half the people currently playing now will see.
You tell me which one would be better for the longevity of the game.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
You honestly want it to take more time to get the legendaries/ new legendaries when there are only 3 or 4 of them that even have graphics worth getting? And you are asking for more RNG with it too?
I guess I kind of see what your saying but all these changes would do is create and even greater void in between casual and hardcore players which is already a Grand Canyon worthy chasm in this game.

I’m only ok with the continued half content/ temporary content if they work on permanent real content at the same time. If people want 8-bit graphics and bad story telling, that’s fine, but don’t sacrifice content updates for them.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Good fights last night again everyone, FA was out in force all night, you guys are seriously tough to contend with, some very good fights with VK in EB last night.
TC has gotten a lot more aggressive as well IMO as the week has gone on, ya’ll didn’t have a problem charging out of the keep/tower last night to wipe us for sure
I try to be mostly positive in these WvW threads, but the AC change did kitten me off more than once last night, that kitten has to change back or at least be toned down, 2 AC’s should not be able to lock down a gate from 15-20 people imo.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
1. Thief
2. Mesmer
3. Guardian
4. Ele
5. Necro
6. Warrior
7. Engi
8. Ranger
I do agree that guardians are powerful, especially with the staff/s/s combo build I’ve been trying since the patch, but I still don’t think we can go toe to toe with a lot of the classes without winning just by wearing them down. It really makes guardian less threatening, but in small group combat staff really shines right now.
Mesmers are nearly as dangerous as they were before because honestly confusion wasn’t killing many people anymore anyway, I hope at least.
I didn’t notice any difference fighting Ele’s.

Yay, sexist jokes. They are so clever and funny.
I’m a female myself and it IS my prerogative to keep the man waiting. ^^
Just because you’re female doesn’t make your comment any less sexist.
Just because you’re female doesn’t make every comment about women sexist.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
This admittedly hits guardians and engineers too, just to a much smaller degree.
Ret is far more important to guardians than any other class.
This. Well I don’t know about far more important, but it’s a very important tool for us.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

Hahaha, awesome

My warrior, going for the “primitive barbarian” look. Think I mostly nailed it.
Edit: SO many awesome designs in this thread! Whatever other flaws and/or shortcomings GW2 may have, character customization is certainly not one of them.
Reminds me of the D2 Barbarian, very cool and authentic.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Here is an update now that I have gotten more of the look I was going for. Still not 100% on the leggings, but they stay for now.
Dyes: Pitch, White Gold, Heirloom, Black Cherry
Helm: T2 Norn Cultural
Shoulders: Devona’s
Chest: Gladiator’s
Hands: Draconic
Legs: Devona’s
Feet: Draconic
