RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

It feels like the OP is talking about someone that’s not me and that makes me happy. My life has meaning, and videogames are merely a past time. A hobby. I don’t want nor need traditional grinding endgame. There’s no eternal loneliness or failure I’m trying to cover up with being a boss raid leader or having gearscore. No compensation of any kind.
OP, I hope there’s more like you and me in this game, people who are happy and sane, and want to stay that way while playing games.
Yes because people who finish content faster than others have no meaning in their lives. Having something to do for those of us who need it is not a cover up for failure, either.
I guess I’m insane and have no meaning in my life if it means I actually have goals and pursue them at any point in time.
No wonder we are screwed, there are way too many different people trying to mold this game right now.
Some people, if they’d put only half the effort in real life, as they did in videogames, they’d be millionaire. I’m talking people who play more than 5 hours a day, and then complain content is too easy.
There’s nothing wrong with having goals and pursuing them. However if those goals only exist in a virtual world, or progress is only made towards virtual goals, you should have a good look at yourself.
That’s your opinion, and thankfully some of us relax in our free time instead of working even more. Have a good look at your own self, and tell me if you would be truly happy working 18 hours a day. Guess what, I have no desire to be a millionaire! Scary right? Examine your own life if it’s full of empty work chasing money
I like to play video games when I’m not working, if you like to work when you aren’t working…well…enjoy the early grave.
Also, I finished this game in 2 months playing about every other day 2-3 hours. So it’s not like I’m playing all the time. I have a family as well.

Soooo people are upset with monthly content updates (whether big or small)
that you didn’t really know about last year when you purchased the game
that hasen’t cost you a centhmmm i guess the entitlement of $60 goes a long way nowadays
Anet should probably just pay their entire player base a monthly fee when they release an update with the backwards logic people have
No, people are upset because 2 hours worth of content is not worth a month of development. We don’t see a good return on the time invested for LS or the other updates they have done, so a lot of players are still waiting on things they bought the game for that has never came.
Although if they want to pay me for testing their game, I’m down
However, A PR company (I’m sure it would have been one of a few), that helped market the game you spent 5 odd years making, and millions of dollars funding? I’d know the company name at the very least!
I think you are mixing things up here. ArenaNet (the company Colin Johanson is working for) is the developer of Guild Wars 2. It is NCsoft who acts as the publisher of Guild Wars 2.
Marketing and advertising are usually the responsibilities of the publisher, not the developer.
~MRA
So basically the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. That’s scary.
At all? (Was gone for a few weeks, havent yet seen what the new patch offers.)
Never understood why Anet has not balanced each game mode individually. Or prioritized PvE. This game will never be an e sport so just balance us all for PvE.
Um. No to the balance question, and no to balancing everything around fighting a computer controlled loot biscuit(?!?).
Warriors, Mesmers, and Guards remain the best PvE classes by a far and large margin.
So it is better to balance around something that is never played? Oi.
The problem is that defense is useless in this game. Everyone just avoides the obvious red circles and one hit moves and they are okay. So naturally utility and damage are most important. My suggestion? Make stuff harder to dodge, make bossekitten harder, get rid of the condition cap, fix pets.
We don’t need to nerf the big three, we need to make a more healthy mix of classes viable.
I dunno about you, but we have queues in WvW quite frequently, and always in EB. I dunno how hundreds upon hundreds of people from each server signifies as dead…
If you were talking about arena PvP, yea that was dead before it even took off. Arena style PvP was done when WoW butchered it starting from Season 1.
And I completely agree with you, we don’t need to nerf those 3, the other classes should be brought up to the same damage and utility instead.
Weapon and Armor Skins – Obtainable in game for straight gems no rng if I have to choose one. Otherwise:
Class Balance
Bug Fixes
Siege Weapon balance
WvW map disparity
WvW map rotation
LFG tool (yes a hot join one, even though I doubt I’ll use it much)
DE’s that people will actually participate in (actually reward you)
Permanent Dungeon/DE/JP/WvW additions and tweaks
Engineers in general
Dungeon Path balance
Lack of a viable replacement for Trinity has yet to be found, 9 months in now.
Tools to see your allies better in WvW, as well as a lot more tools for commanders to use while leading.
That’s all I can think of sitting here at work right now, I’m sure there’s a million other little things that need some TLC
Ultimately, a game is still, just a game.
Nothing more nothing less.
Unless its not.
In which case,
If its not a game,
Then it isn’t.
This brings us
To only one conclusion.
Ultimately, a game is still, just a game.%^#}%@@$
I like it.
When recruiting, we write our little message onto a piece of toast and put it through your letterbox.
What’s biscotti anyway? Toasted toast? I always thought someone found a way to sell stale but edible rock.
Biscotti is gross, that’s what it is.
It’s one of those things that is trying SO hard to be good, but just can’t quite manage.
I think it’s just dried out bread. You’re supposed to dip it in coffee or something?
Reminds me of when I go to restaurant, order a 30 dollar steak dinner, and the salad comes with a bunch of bread from last year all over it. Come on guys? Really? At least spring for croutons/rocks that taste good.
Yea, my laggy computers + Norn character = Some lucky mesmer got a 1g tip the other day for a portal. Take that Anet! Serves you right for picking on people who make norns!

No wonder we are screwed, there are way too many different people trying to mold this game right now.
MMOs were never meant to be goal oriented. sure there have been mobs and bigger mobs to fight. it was not until around the time of WoW that “goals” were shoved upon them. MMOs were originally about relaxing and chat. the journey. it was console gamers that demad goals. This game has goals, but they aren’t shoved at us for the most part. gaols are not needed for relaxation, which is the orginal focus of MMOs.
You come to the game to escape not to have chores to do, which is what goals are
Um. I started playing EQ1 in September, 1999 and it was most certainly goal oriented from day 1 haha. In fact I can’t think of a single MMO I have personally played that is not goal oriented. I think you are thinking more of like Myst (man I miss these puzzle games, do they still make them?) or something rather than MMOs, no offense
The more options the better. Not everybody want’s to group up with others to do the dungeon; nor does everybody want to solo it.
The rewards should be identical for both multi-player and solo, because realistically, those who are doing multi-player, shouldn’t be concerned about the people soloing the dungeon (worry about yourself). Vice versa for the other group.
People who want the challenge, get their challenge. People that don’t want to group up, get their wish as well.
Bingo. I’ll probably run the multiplayer one with my guild a time or two if the rewards are better, but if I wasn’t in my guild I wouldn’t bother pugging it (shiver), that’s for sure. I have no desire to deal with random people I don’t know in dungeons anymore, so I hope the people in small guilds/no guild aren’t left out as usual.
Bottom line is, if you … aren’t having fun, maybe it’s time for a change… I hope they find a place they can have some fun
I completely agree. I recently transferred onto TC. It was one of those things where I wasn’t having much fun, especially with a ton of stuff going on in the background of that pesky real life thing, so I jumped. I dunno, without my RL drama, maybe I would have stayed. Maybe not. At least being in a guild didn’t figure into my case.
That being said, I strongly encourage EVERYONE to taste the Toast! Preferably in that kindly burnt bread of a server, with tasty spread, sort of way. Not in that kill you and tear out your heart for a snack kind of way. But if that floats your WvW boat, then go ahead. But really, ew. Grainy goodness. Better than meaty goodness.
Salty Goodness, yeeeah boooy!
Oh noes, my kindly sentiment has turned into a TC recruitment toast….er…post

I wonder if WoW forums get the same deluge of topics asking “Where is the crafting of War in World of Warcraft?”
No it’s pretty much a bunch of people patting themselves on the back for playing a dinosaur in the WoW forums these days.
Wow lots of FA guilds are leaving no wonder their strength is dropping. Their coverage suck right now. Alot of guilds are leaving, some we have great fights with like [BT] & [VK] they leaving to Blackgate. I wonder who will defend their homeland now, all that is left is what [RET]?
For past couple of days they seem to be outman all the time even during their prime time. Perfect time to take all their stuff :p
Our destination is not set as of right now.
But why leave FA? I’m curious, but also selfish in asking this — BT is one of the best guilds we’ve come up against, and it’s always nice to fight them. If you leave this tier, it will not only impact FA, but also the other two servers. Why, BT, why? Aren’t you having fun here?
Not particularly
Well at least they are honest. Bottom line is, if you and your guild aren’t having fun, maybe it’s time for a change. It’s a video game at the end of the day, if BT isn’t having fun with it, I hope they find a place they can have some fun
Probably the worst thing they can do, doing this would be even worse than adding more RNG boxes, which is already borderline criminal.

I’m hoping it’s a “Haha gotcha, we really were doing something back here!!” moment, where they release a massive amount of balancing and bug fixes and an expansion brimming with good permanent content with no RNG.
I know, I know, it’s a long shot, but it makes me warm and fuzzy to think about.
As far as I know, half of VK have already joined Agg on DB.
The more you know, guess that’s what I get for being MIA most of these last 2 weeks.

BT and VK are leaving? Dang, VK beats me up all time, why you guys leaving I give bags
I would try with support. If Anet is anything like other companies, this shouldn’t be a big deal to fix for you.
The less time I spend in water in this game, the less rage at the end of the play period
Now I know “worthwhile” is subjective.
The content released should expand on already existing lore. I know you’re trying to make the world seem alive through these little events but they have absolutely nothing to do with the rich lore background.
The world is supposed to be focused on defeating the elder dragons right? So you could make events about how the races are working together to make strategies to kill them, or you could even go as far as to display racial tensions within the conflict itself.
The elder dragons should have personalities and dialogue too. After we kill each elder dragon they should adapt to strategies used in the past. They should be erratic and be updated regularly to keep them from becoming farm fests. You could use this as a good opportunity to introduce new armor and weapon skins too. Each dragon could drop a specific armor or weapon skin set. Or you could get the skin as a reward for completing a set achievement on the dragon. Like: Climbed Kralkatorrik’s spine and struck the elder dragon at a vital point". Make it hard so its like a jumping puzzle in the air when they are flying.
Tldr; Events should be focused mainly on expanding off old lore and how that affects the “living world”. Bosses should be hard, and they should adapt. Weapon skins from these events should be skill based (awarded off getting achievements.) Cant do it? Too bad, no skin for you. Rng should stay out of events like this.
I apologize for any errors in the text in advance. Im on my android.
You had me at JP on the back of a dragon while it’s flying. I think JP’s are bad filler content, but even I agree this would be freaking sweet haha.
Personal story can be completed within a week or less- that would be alot of people with precursors & legendaries. Not necessarily a good thing….. There shouldn’t be an easier way to obtain a precursor just more alternatives! People need to stop being so kitten & actually work for it, not saying people aren’t but easier way? No thanks, I actually like to work for what I get, that way I feel somewhat that I ‘earned’ it.
Again, there’s a HUGE gap between having a precursor and having a Legendary weapon.
I was assuming there would be other avenues of obtaining the legendary through a epic quest chain or WvW prowess or something not involving RNG based gathering, but they haven’t really commented on that. The precursor scavenger hunt is a good start.
Then again I’m wrong quite frequently, according to my loving wife.
As long as the rewards are comparable between solo and multiplayer dungeons, this is a step in the right direction. Other wise, I don’t even see why they would make a solo dungeon.
i guess their marketing worked huh?
Why, yes, yes, it did. If you consider all three Guild Wars campaigns and Eye of the North as ‘marketing’ for Guild Wars 2.
I don’t think GW1 players make up as much of the playerbase as you think.
Well I’m a player from GW1 era, but I can vouch that 90 percent of my gw1 friends either bought the game and quit early, or just never purchased.
Yea, there are a few of us who stuck around. At first it looked like they are trying to appease the WoW crowd, but now I’m not so sure what or who they are trying to appease.
Trahearne is the Jar Jar Binks of the guild wars universe.
Take it to heart, a lot of players, especially older MMO players, find it rude.
Just as a polite reply to your rather short sighted rant about other players there do seem to be quite a few server loading issues with the current LS.
Personally I have been able to complete all of the other LS bits (bar the audio logs because that was just tedious) but this is proving difficult. I have for instance spent the last 2.5 hours (about the time it takes you to complete the LS) just attempting to be able to log in and play in Southsun cove.
I have (after many mant tries with it lagging out and crashing or freezing) had to give up in the end in an attempt to complete my dailies.
Maybe consider that others may be making valid points before getting on your high horse.
I understand where you’re coming from, and I know i’m coming off a bit rude. But in your case that sounds like a client side issue, not server side. I never heard of someone having that problem.
My biggest problem is that these people are blaming Anet for them not being able to complete it, despite having a ton of time. I remember seeing a recent post that started out as " I quit playing in feburary and recently came bacK" and he sounded upset that he couldn’t play FnF again. I just thought to myself, well duh. You quit the game for almost 3 months.
Protip: People usually quit games and come back months later expecting more stuff to do, not the same or less. That was the whole point of leaving to begin with, was there was nothing to do.
That said, I finished the Southsun LS in about 2-3 hours. It’s pretty short.
Please give us legendary bows that belong in a world of combat and turmoil, not children’s cartoons and gardening channels.
This guy knows what’s up.
So today, I saw this
Since the launch of Guild Wars 2, NCSOFT and ArenaNet have released more than an expansion’s worth of content, regularly hosted special events like Halloween, Lost Shores and Wintersday, introduced players to the retro-goodness of the Super Adventure Box, and engaged players with the Living World philosophy, all the while continually updating and tweaking the game experience. There are record numbers of people playing Guild Wars 2 and the recent WvW and PvP updates are just the first drops in a shower of new updates.
Emphasis mine.
Which brings to mind a certain eight year running MMO that just released an expansion around the time GW2 came out, which had several new zones, a new class, a new race, dungeons, raid content, etc, etc. It seems far meatier in simple terms of content and overall development effort than what what GW2 has released, and not only that, but substantively and permanently added to the game world itself.
\
And at the same time effectively destroyed all previously existing content. That other MMO which has been running for eight years, effectively only has 2 or 3 zones, and a handful of raid dungeons. In comparison, the entire GW2 world is valid and useful content, including 9 dungeons.
Well I guess if unused dungeons and empty ghost town zones is considered useful content…lol. It wasn’t even remotely close to an expansions worth of content added. But like I said in another post, I think the mistakes are starting to be realized, and I’d be real surprised if they aren’t working on a massive permanent content patch for those of us that need more content/run through LS in 2 hours. Not to mention content that we can do freely on our own time that doesn’t feel like a punishment for not logging in every day.
(edited by Aeonblade.8709)
Can you tell me why it makes sense to have Charr as a playable race? I mean, the humans killed our great leader, Khan-Ur, stole our homeland, and forced us to flee.
Anet can blame the Flame Legion all they want but all leaders of the High Legions; Ash, Flame, Iron, and Blood, are decendants of Khan-ur. Shouldn’t we hate the human?
Basically, they had to add SOMETHING, and they wanted to try to be different than dwarves and elves. So we ended up with dog/cat people and tree men instead
More has been removed by a large and far amount than has been added, but I think that trend may reverse soon, mistakes are starting to be realized I believe. I just hope we can all stick around long enough for it
With a drop rate like that you have to wonder what the point of creating a dozen or so new skins was — the only thing most players are going to wind up with is buyers remorse.
I cannot possibly +1 this enough.
Looking forward to a real way to obtain legendaries and a rework of the ridiculous looking/goofy legendaries Good news has been coming out recently, let’s hope the trend continues.
Would I buy… why would I buy an expansion? To gain access to more empty lands? Just to see my the list of engineer bugs getting longer and the devs not even dare to look on it? Or maybe surprise myself with more unjustified nerfings? Or maybe grind for a legendary sniper rifle (the only one) when my Engi uses is as a shotgun? What a bad joke! Before The developers should plan an Expansion maybe they should focus on fixing the actual faults of the game and improve the content to a reasonable degree.
All the new content I got in months was a freaking living story with very few quests. Aaaaaand it’s gone.
Except a few monotone events around the map nothing ever happens. Everything becomes dull in 2-3 months. I see fewer and fewer people playing already. The hype is gone and the ones responsible with keeping the game alive failed to act in good time. I don’t care if 3 million people bought the game, Im sure the actual active players base is very small compared to whakitten was 6 months ago. I can’t say I’m sorry I buy Guild Wars, because I had my share of fun and amazing exploration. But no, I would never buy another expansion.
Well said, really puts the problems into perspective. How can I trust them with 60 more dollars when they can’t fix the 60 dollars I already spent?
While I agree with you that temporary content is a load of crap for anyone who has a life, I got my octopus back piece in about 2 hours in one night of work. This even is even shorter and easier than F&F.
To make people post every day asking why this game is called Guild Wars.
With the whole ascended debacle and now the announcement of WvWvW specific infusions I’d have to say no. The game is headed in a way which I cannot support and as such I’m not willing to sink more money into it. The original vision which I paid to see realized has been abandoned and I with it.
Oh, come on! It will be something like a + -2% damage to players or mobs in the WvW.
About +20% for full set, when the armor and weapons will be there. It’s been calculated several times already (possibly even higher, the calculations were really conservative).
Sounds awesome, won’t affect PvE kings and WvW players finally have something to look forward to.
Oh, did you mean WvW infusions? I guess i misread your post then. I thought you were talking about the ascended/exotic difference.
Yep, WvW infusion effect will likely be negligible for stats – most likely it will be “+World XP” or similar effects anyway
No that was my mistake, I misread your post actually haha, thought we were talking about the WvW Infusions
Just gonna pop back in and reiterate how much I miss having an actual purpose to the classes we play. Tanking and Healing is a better alternative than 5 DPS slamming their face against their keyboard and the 4 warrior + 1 mesmer god awful crap we have now. Don’t drop the trinity if there is no plan for replacement

Don’t really care either way about laurels being used or not, I have plenty, just stop gating content behind dailies and let us do it at our own pace. If someone comes in and plays WvW 4 hours a day more than I do, they should get their ascended faster, not have to wait for daily resets.
I know this is hard for a lot of GW2 players to understand, but being rewarded for your time isn’t really a bad thing!
1) JQ
2) TC
3) BG
4) DB
5) Either SoR or Maguuma, tough call.
Honestly I can’t even really be sure on anyone we haven’t played against recently, things change, numbers change, stability changes at the drop of a hat.
I don’t think any of these 6 servers will make a big dive any time soon though, strong communities overcome many things.
Go look at Mr. Foreman, his team is in charged of SAB and that’s not a part of Living Story at all.
Josh and his team have been integrated into the Living Story team because of their success. I still hope that means LS will eventually get a SAB substoryline when it reemerges =3 (once he emerges grom the pile of fangirls he is currently burried under)
Apart from this you are absolutely right. Arenanet has different teams working on different parts of the game. Dungeons are on a different team than WvW, etc. When watching the dev vids, they state which team they are part of. And it seems they are quite a crowd. So: looking good ^^
I really hope they are not dumb enough to make a mini game part of the living story of the world. SAB was cool for a few days, but that’s a living story I’ll never finish haha.
That being said, I don’t think they have completely abandoned adding content, I’m sure they are working on it behind the scenes with something big for those of us who prefer lasting appeal Have faith friends!
It was almost worth it to miss a weeks worth of WvW for all the posts in here rofl.
Casual Content Crusher – Playing 2-3 hours a day every other day I complete most MMO’s in a few months. GW2 was my latest victim. It’s kind of sad really, you would expect games to get more complex with more things to do, but the opposite has been true. I love WvW/RvR or any objective based PvP that makes you use your brain, I hate arenas because it ruins a lot of games.
At this point I’m probably more of a log in for the daily and a little WvW type player until new things are added honestly
You’re still using Windows XP. Why OP, why?
Because the only alternative is 7 and I’m not sure everyone has a ton of money to throw away on upgrading their OS every year and a half M$ comes out with a new debacle?
Seriously at least get 7 though, Vista and 8 are hot water trash, avoid them like the plague.
Um. That is exactly what Anet did my friend. Cashed in on the reputation of GW1, promised many things through their little manifesto, then didn’t deliver. Now box sales have come to a major slowdown, so they milk the remaining people still hanging around with highway robbery style gem store pricing and RNG chests that make even Perfect World games blush.
I want this game to succeed, but how long can you stick around when every patch strays further from what they said the game would be.
Well, personally I started playing first GW when I found out about the second. More than a dozen of my friends and a hundred acquaintances, same, had not even heard about GW1 but love the second. Most of the players, in fact, does not know about the first part. So you’re wrong. Most of what they promised they implemented. Lacking only the pleasant things like city events. Chests? Why? I have not bought a single and enjoy the game. Now you can get chests from mobs. During the evening, about 5 chests easily. Patches are very high quality and interesting. The only game so far, which is really tells the story. And your judgment is built largely on the basis of resentment at the fact that the game did not meet any of your personal expectations. Isn’t it so?
Yes I don’t think we needed a long paragraph to say that the game did not meet my expectations lol. I guess let me rephrase that. Anyone who has been playing MMO’s in the last years should know what GW1 is, if you don’t play online games this would exclude you from knowing, wouldn’t it?
Not trying to be mean, just explaining why I said what I said.

Sticking with PCs as usual.
My predictions for what the new consoles will be comparable to in a few weeks/months is…..
How is that any different from the PC you or someone builds for you? All electronics become obsolete after a few years. It’s not like PC’s are immune to new technology O.o Consoles are usually cheaper and have longer life cycles than most PCs. No one would buy them if they were comparable to an etch e sketch in 2 months. I’m sure there are millions waiting for it, much larger than the PC gamer market is right now.
I prefer PC as well, but that’s just silly man.
TC’s Supreme Commander Gary Busey seen out escorting dolyaks to rally the troops! (apparently Mr. Busey has had a bit of plastic surgery too! gasp)
Funniest thing I have seen all day lol. Busey, why!
Long story .. every T2 server has to pick a D-list celebrity. You guys are currently being lead by Supreme Commander Carrot Top
Oh mother of god, no wonder we are behind this week.
An established MMO is going to have some advantage over a new one after the shine wears off. And if you think that other MMOs will launch with a less “greedy” cash shop, well…off you go then. Will you have the grace to return if you’re wrong?
Defiance.
Skins and veicles on the cash shop with the same stats of the ones you can get in game.
RNG boxes with a chance to get the rarest weapons in game, and you can buy them via real money and in game currencies.
RIFT will be totally free to play in less than 2 weeks, Trion already stated that everything will be obtainable in game, and cash shop will only have mounts and cosmetic items.
There are already “less greedy” cash shop games out there…And a new MMO can become “esablished” in a few months, the same has been for GW2.
I can only think of a few cash shops actually worse than GW2, and those are in P2W games, which I won’t play for obvious reasons.
EQ1, EQ2, Aion, DDO, LotRO, and soon Rift will all have better cash shops than GW2, and those games started out as sub based games. The only game I can think of that remotely compares to the unfair RNG aspects of GW2 that is coming out recently is Neverwinter…and well, most of us already know to avoid PW like the plague. I mean they literally let you buy levels. Ugh.
