Frostfang is my favorite model. The Greatswords are good too.
I cannot stand The Moot or either bow. Grind a year for a unicorn or a disco ball? No thank you.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I enjoy both in most games, but I can’t stand the roleless dungeons in this game personally. I can see why some would because it changes it up from the norm.

It’s not that we “dont even feel that the camera is gliding around becuase they have never felt a responsive came”. It’s that we don’t know what you even mean by a gliding camera. Like I know what it is to glide over ice, like low friction, or to glide through the air, navigating currents of air, but what does it even mean for a camera to glide? Do you mean that there is too much of a lag between swinging your mouse and the camera actually responds? Do you mean that it keeps moving after you stop moving your mouse? Because as some one who also played WoW for 5+ years, I have no camera issues other than the awkward random zoom ins and not being able zoom out much. I find it likely that your camera issues are not widespread and are some kind of hardware/software interaction issue.
This is what I’m thinking too. Maybe some sort of conflict. It reminds me of random spurts of mouse lag my PC used to get on League of Legends. Ended up fixing it with updated drivers.
Just a thought, maybe give it a shot

This has gone on in any game I have ever played that had guild vaults. I have long proposed the idea of a merit type system where the more value people place into a shared vault the more they are allowed to remove from the vault. In that way one person could never empty out a guild vault unless they are the ones that put every last item into it. Guild officers would be exempt from the merit system so they could assist new members from the guild stash.
You should make a separate post in the suggestions forum with this idea, it’s awesome.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
You’re implying the holy trinity was a bad thing.
I’m stating the trinity is not for everyone.
This is probably true, but like I said in a post a few weeks ago, if you aren’t going to use the trinity, have a viable alternative. Having most of the players stack Berserker gear and hope they kill things before they die is not a replacement for a balanced combat system imo :P
To each their own as you said.
Well no if your trying to kill things before you die in a berserker set you will die every time before you can kill any thing. You must fill all roll at any given moment there no more easy mod mob always on the tank a healer to keep you alive and a dps to kill the mob you must help with every thing.
I theory, you are correct, and that would be awesome. However, it usually plays out with 4 people trying to be dps kings with no support utilities and one poor guy trying desperately to keep stability up and everyone alive.

See this is what I mean. GW2 players dont even feel that the camera is gliding around becuase they have never felt a responsive camera… Really compare the GW2 camera with WoW and you know what I mean.
I played WoW for 5 years and I have no idea what you are talking about. The only problem I have with the GW2 camera is I can’t zoom out far enough.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I like the idea, thanks for sharing. With a little tweaking this sounds like a good compromise between the two groups of people on both sides of the fence of farming materials.

In a lot of opinions the OP is mostly right, the game is too easy and is lacking some features that foster longterm interest for a lot.
Fixed the fix. See, this snarky passive aggressive stuff goes both ways. Ugh.
True, yours works too. However, I simply viewed his post as his personal expression, not him speaking for the masses.
Fair enough

What it really boils down to for me personally is, can they fix the game before ESO, FFXIV, WildStar, Camelot Unchained, etc. come out.
They are quickly running out of time, let’s just say Square did FFXIV right this time, and I’m not even a big FF fan. I want them to succeed, but they will have to start listening to the players at some point.
It’s not really relevant, since every single one of those games is going to need a period of time before they’re fixed themselves. People think MMOs release in a fixed state, but it’s very rare that that ever happens.
I agree with ya here Vayne, I mean hell, they shut FFXIV down completely and are rereleasing it. But the point is, they learned from their mistakes. I wish other companies would use the trouble they had with that game as a shining example of why you should listen to the players when they tell you something is broken or not ready.
Another example is Rift. That games devs are completely involved in the community all the time. And they have implemented many many things that portions of the community ask for. Really even if it is just another WoW clone, people could take a big leaf from the book of the Rift community, if the players tell them something is broken, they look into it, not 2 months from now, but literally when they find out about it.
See and I ended up disliking Rift immensely, because I felt they didn’t cater to the kind of game I wanted to play. Different strokes, I guess.
Well I’m here and not playing Rift at the moment, but I played for about a year and a half. It had it’s quirks, and is not my favorite game by any means, but the devs listened, even if Rift isn’t for people like us, the community just blew me away.
It’s nothing new or different, it’s just run very effeciently imo, you don’t wait 6 months for basic bug fixes, they patch those once a week as they pop up.

The fact that most people that “don’t like the game” spend most of their free-time on the GW2 forums tells me that most of you don’t even buy your own press either.
Expressing dissatisfaction with something you feel strongly about doesn’t mean we don’t like the game, it just means we have seen this route before and know it’s going to end up killing or harming the game we want to enjoy.
This just really rubbed me the wrong way. Get off the high horse.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
The WvW in this game is fun, kinda like a sideshow realm war from DAoC. Very fun to me.
The PvE is awful though, this I will agree with 100%.
Never, even when going from quest hub to quest hub in “those” games, have I been as bored in PvE.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I understand why charr need the “shark fin” but everyone else who doesnt walk on all fours should have one of these..
http://www.eastofindia.com/images/samurai.jpgCome on anet, unless you only care about charrs give us actual back banners… like the ones we can place on the ground not these shark fins, they are ugly as hell i haven’t seen anyone buy one yet because of this.
Simple fix, give every race but charr the actual good banner to start with then work on the charr separately, punishing all players with ugly items because of 1 race not getting a perfect back piece isn’t really fair, if you are willing to ignore engineers when you release new skins eg the SAB im sure you can ignore the charr for one update until then.
Sadly I can’t agree with this. Nothing is actually better than some massive flag attached to my back. Capes need to happen Anet!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I actually sat down and did the math the other day and I would come out better working 5 more hours at work a week and changing cash to gems then selling it for gold than I would if I farmed all day, 5 days a week. Hmm 5 hours of work or 5 days, yea they aren’t trying to force us to by gems. People are so blind.
Working as intended, screw your wallets! As long as we have money screw the game too! lol.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Having the ability to do something if you want does not encourage everyone to do it. The whole thing about this game, and the players, was to be a game everyone could play and be on semi equal footing. That part of the game is a success (so far).
The part of the game that is not a success is the inclusion of people who aren’t either a) Casual or b) Hardcore . What about the everyday gamer?
There is very little middle ground and this is why you see so many posts about people out of things to do besides alts.
what would happen in your opinion if farming was made really profitable, but some people wouldn’t want to do it? How much on an equal footing would they be do you think?
And like I said regarding loot/ gold, the balancing should be done very carefully.
I agree with this, I’m not asking for an earth shattering adjustment and every mob to be chock full of t6 mats and exotics. There is a fine line they need to find, they are just way to far to one side of it at the moment.
There should be a reward for playing the game how you would normally play it. Currently this is not the case for a large chunk of us who came from games like EQ, DAoC, and others. Killing monsters was a large part of any MMO I have played, and it seems to me this is the only game I can think of that actively punishes you for killing monsters. I’m sure there are more out there, and some of them are worse, but I have not played them.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
If you are not playing the game as anet wants it then you can go elsewhere, you just paid for it but its still their game.
:D:D
Or, I can continue to play my way and refuse to give them another dime by not buying gems until they decide to pull their heads out and reverse some of this stupidity. You see, they have to pay for the resources we use but I don’t have to actually provide them with any funds out of my own pocket (if you want to do so, more power to you…I wont). I will use the game, for free, until such time as something else entertains me more.
+1, well said. If their goal was to include as many players as possible for maximum profit, they need to actually include what the players desire.
no matter which way they will go someone will still be not satisfied. You can attempt to maximize the amount of people playing, you can attempt to create a game that you want it to be, but either way, never will 100% be satisfied.
Encouraging farming would probably upset a great deal of population too. There’s a fine line between supply and demand and how the economy works. Over increase the drop rate for certain materials and tier 3 skins will be close to unreachable because money making will be too hard (see yellows and what happened with their prices), buff the money reward too much and all materials will be too expensive for a legendary crafter.

If you aren’t supposed to kill monsters(??) in an MMO, they should make a different genre of game.
you are supposed to kill them for quests. You are not supposed to depopulate the world -_-
You’re a hero that defends the world from dragons and goes to do dangerous missions in dungeons, or fight the invaders in WvW. You are not some lonely village hunter that kills bears repeatedly.
There is a huge difference between being able to kill monsters in the same spot longer than 15-30 mins and depopulating the world. Also, I’m done with dragons, missions, dungeons, etc. I still play WvW of course, it’s the saving grace for this entire game atm.
All we are really asking for is a way to get items reliably rather than unknown factors and RNG, even if it still takes months and months, there needs to be some form of guarantee for time invested.
+1 to whoever said more supply is needed, that would be a great start.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I read your title as “Commanders are OP”.
They are! Organizing the mindless masses! And coordination! HERESY!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
But the game doesn’t discourage TP flipping. Are you suppose to flip stuff on the TP? Why aren’t you suppose to farm? Why doesn’t the system punish open world farmers more than COF p1 farmers?
TP flipping is really hard. It’s to do with learning the economy, predicting what items will grow in price. That’s why very few people are able to do it without suffering considerable loses.
World farmers are sort of punished more that CoF farmers. You need to continue to move in the open world and there are very few spots that are being farmed. You can continue running CoF for 1/3rd the reward all day long. CoF is the one that should be nerfed next to be honest.Thank you! I think most of us get enough paycheck to paycheck type crap from life everyday, what’s the problem with making the game actually feel rewarding at some point?
Apparently the problem is a select few number of people who can’t stand to kill monsters to get items for more than 3 minutes at a time in any one place. I really don’t see anything else it could be other than extreme ADD and jealousy.
the more rewarding the game will be, the higher the prices will rise on the trade post, because everyone will have more money, meaning that most of your goals won’t be any closer.
You are not supposed to sit there and kill monsters repetitively. Most people that came to Guild Wars 2 do not like doing so. It’s not ADD, it’s being bored. Bored is bad for the game.
If you aren’t supposed to kill monsters(??) in an MMO, they should make a different genre of game.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Couldn’t agree more. Sometimes, especially after a long day, I just want to farm because it’s not in the least bit stressful, and actually kind of relaxing since I don’t have to pay all that much attention to what I am doing.
So why should a player who just mindlessly lols about wacking the same spiders in the head for months without “paying much attention” get rewarded as well as people who put in focus to engage the content more fully?
Because MMOs are nothing but a measure of time spent playing, and they always have been. What you do during that time should be inconsequential because either way you spent 1000 hours in the game killing things.
It’s not like MMO’s are renowned for their difficulty here either, let’s be realistic.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
DR, like so many other things Anet has done, is focused on funneling players to buy gems with real cash so they can buy gold.
Ok fine. Now finish that logic.
So a player goes and buys that gold…
What then? Why did you buy it? What is it going to get you?
Yeah… nothing…
And that’s where your logic fails. There’s no need for that gold.
Legendaries, Precursors, Alts, Exotics, Food, Skins, QoL items just to start a list. There is a lot more than this, if you can’t find something to spend gold on in this game you play too much or are really lucky, because playing normally a few hours every day will get you nowhere near a Precursor even playing for months unless you get lucky. Let alone a legendary or any of the unique weapons made in the mystic forge.
Like I have said before there is a big gap between Casual and Hardcore that probably 90% of the player base actually fits into, and its the people in between who are screwed, they run out of realistic things to do, but don’t have 12 hours a day to devote to getting a legendary months later.
You are left with 2 options: Make an alt, or buy money.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
You didn’t kill A rabbit….you killed THE rabbit :o
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
400+ gold would make me feel rich beyond belief!
Currently I have 13 gold, that’s it.
Technically , I have been getting what I need by playing the game.
I leveled my main to 80, had just enough gold and karma to get him fully decked out in exotic gear, but it took nearly every thing I had saved. Leveled alt 1 and the same thing, got his gear and was broke again. Alt 2, same thing again only this time I had a whole 13 gold left. So to put it in RL terms, right now I am living paycheck to paycheck, spending just about what I have coming in. This means I can survive, by “just playing game” but I can not afford any luxuries.
Thank you! I think most of us get enough paycheck to paycheck type crap from life everyday, what’s the problem with making the game actually feel rewarding at some point?

Anything has it’s place in WvW, despite what people will say here imo. You can be a good player with anything.
To me personally it sounds like a dual dagger bunker ele will fit your playstyle the best.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Amirite? I mean look at them. They get assault rifles, grenades and scary explodey thingies. They even get AH64 Apaches.
Now that is not fair.
Nerf please.
NERF THE FAMAS
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
at this point i wouldnt listen to his arguments anymore, you cant make money by doing nothing, and “playing the game” is an awful way to get you anywhere in terms of a legendary.
and if some people want legendary weapons?
I just really don’t understand Anet’s mentality
I got 100% map completion I’ve seen all the world has to offer
now what?
other than a legendary what else is their to do?you’re both essentially crying “I want my legendary now”. A legendary was designed to take years to get, hence legendary.
You obviously didn’t get the point that MANY people farm for a legendary. Also you don’t know why DR is in place only an Anet employee knows how it works and why they really use it.
People play mmos in different ways and some players actually enjoy farming.
those people then should probably find an MMO that allows it. Besides while Guild Wars 2 community is crying, Tera has a far harsher DR and people seem to be okay with it.
Lol at the Tera “community”! Have you read map chat in that game? That’s not a community that’s a daycare center with RNG and a cash shop with hello kitty mobs.
LOL…yeah, I thought the terra comment was pretty humorous as well. Tried that “game” when it went F2P, laughed for half an hour then uninstalled it…how did it ever charge a monthly fee?
because in comparison it has a good combat system?
Plus it’s the only serious competitor for Guild Wars 2, because they too reached 3 million players that bought the game after it went off the subscription fee. They too are expanding servers and their staff.
At the expense of their game. It’s like a piece of crap in a river, whether it sinks or floats, it’s still just a chunk of crap floating downstream.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
What they should really do is leave Guard/Thief/Ele alone and bring other classes up to par with these 3.
That cuts on two ways, the reason those 3 are over the top is because well they are. Thieves access to stealth is too high, now if you make any build other than D/D burst the class is fine. Elementalist got too many cool downs at their disposal to really be called balanced. Guardians are just fail proof in Pvp, I main one at the moment and with some random temple pieces and green crafted accessories I can easily go 1 v 5 and stand there sucking damage and killing until help arrives, if down state didn’t exist this would change quite a lot, I don’t even use a well made build as I barely know the class enough to go into a serious build lol.
Bottom line is aside from elementalist, most of these classes only need minor changes to be balanced in terms of game mechanics. If they reduced the power of protection say to 20% and removed retaliation from the guardian then I’d say the guardian would fine. In fact I would remove retaliation from guardians and give them to the warriors, this would make both classes do their roles and not over power one while making the other well useless.
@Littlefeather: Ranger are fine, almost perfectly balanced, their only real issue is the PET AI not being 100% accurate, other than that I play ranger and destroy people in Spvp and WvW lol. I’m not a glass cannon though. If you make glass cannons able to survive they’ll stop being glass cannons don’t you think?
What you suggest about retalition and protection would gut what little uses guardians have as a boon bot. I have been playing my guardian in WvW the past 2 months solid, and honestly guardians are in a decent spot. Some areas could use some work still, and it’s like some else said, we either build tanky and do sub par damage or build glass cannon and fold over like grass.
Really boons are the best thing we bring to the table and the nerf last patch made it even harder to do that.
Guardians are fine, if you play one you will understand, especially after the boon nerf. Now engineers…rangers… non bunker eles…all of these things need improvements.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Guardians are good but not the best at nearly every aspect of the game. The only thing they really have is the ability to stay alive longer than anyone else. If they take away survivability, damage will have to be increased.
What they should really do is leave Guard/Thief/Ele alone and bring other classes up to par with these 3.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I have no idea, even as a casual gamer, why the RNG and anti farming policies in this game are so beyond strict.
I cannot think of any other game that punishes you as much as this game does just through playing the game normally. Yes, farming is "normally’ for a lot of veteran MMO players, get used to it newbies
I play maybe 2 hours a day most days, and I haven’t even bothered starting the legendary grind because there is no point, you can’t work on it an see marked progress reliably, one day you may get 50 orichalcum ore the next day you’ll get 5.
It’s really, really dumb, and makes the game look bad.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I just wanted an excuse to take quaggan pics.
I knew it. TC absent to play with Quaggans since sunday
haha. Just kidding, I have enjoyed this match up despite all the talk that has gone in these forums. You TC guys handed me my kitten at Quentin yesterday morning.
I need to practice more for those small group skirmishes, or remember to swap my staff out for it at least lol.

A better question would be is crapping on 80% of players worth keeping it fair for the 20% who chose a glorified man dog.
Sorry, I just really haven’t seen a good reason to not have capes in any game since DAoC. It’s a feature commonly overlooked that should of became standard.
It’s not “crapping on 80%”. If the problem is indeed massive clipping it reflects poorly on the entire game, not just people playing.
Oh, and Charr are feline, so it’s “glorified man cat”.
It only effects people who play Charr. I don’t see how this would reflect poorly on any of my characters as I don’t play dogcatthingmen
.

A player has stolen every item in our guild stash and he has left our guild after that. Is there anything we can do to recover all our stash?
It wasn’t a very good stash (yellow 40-45 lvl items primarily), but it was our resource for new guild members.
On the other hand, I think guild should be allowed to control the number of items each player can get each day.
P.S.: Of course, although I know his name, I’m not going to put it here.
P.S.: Sorry for my english.
You can report it but nothing will happen. Next time set it to where only officers can use the guild bank and have to pull items out by request. Problem solved
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
You have some really quality stuff in here Paladini, I like some of these ideas. +1 to the Orbs helping with keep defense. I believe there should be offensive orbs as well!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Gold. MF Is an even more dead stat than gold find.
In all honesty, 4 power.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Instead of making more dynamic gameplay and reintroducing Orbs of Power, we have decided the game will be better off with traps!
We feel like there needs to be more players sitting in keeps on siege! I mean, why risk running into a trap when I can sit on an AC these days?
My brain…it hurts…
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
zergs are whats breaking the game… not the siege.
I keep seeing people complain about zergs…but no one has a good reason why they’re bad.
I love running in small groups and I love running in zergs. They’re both valid, and very fun, ways to play the game.
If zergs were ever affected to the point of being non-viable, people would leave the WvW game in droves. Why? Because zergs are fun and important to the process.
I agree with this, zergs are just as important if not more so than small group combat.
Also both are fun to me! Now if they could just fix skill lag.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I raise both hands high and will keep them there. Until " " WARS 2 lives up to its name. Think of the possibilities people. If anything it would make the player community stronger and more dynamic.
There are many reasons to have guild halls, but making the community stronger is not one of them. If anything, they will make LA less populated and spread people further out. Hopefully by the time they do player/guild housing they have a LFG tool so it won’t matter that no one is around LA anymore.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
One big reason why there is an uptick in kitten and “modern gamers” is because of eSports and communities we have built ourselves. We allowed the games to become more about the end result than the journey.
The fact that people can get notoriety in real life from playing video games is what makes the kitten of human civilization come out and consume games like some sort of hyper advanced virus.
These people are also the reason you see so much RNG and required grinding in this game now. They will literally run up Mom’s/Dad’s/their own credit card to get that fused weapon ticket from RNG. Meanwhile, Anet makes bank and thinks it’s a resounding success, screwing everyone over eventually when those players go on to consume the next MMO.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
We had capes in DAoC and it looked great for It’s time and caused no real lag. We have much better CPU’S these days.
Not sure why not besides clipping which already happens, so what?
Just because we already have some clipping issue it doesn’t mean we should add more.
The problem with capes is the Charr. They run on all four, which apparently created huge amount of clipping, and it didn’t look good (according to ArenaNet)
I think the only way to add capes to the game is to set a race limit on them, leaving the Charr out. I don’t know if Charr players would like this.
A better question would be is crapping on 80% of players worth keeping it fair for the 20% who chose a glorified man dog.
Sorry, I just really haven’t seen a good reason to not have capes in any game since DAoC. It’s a feature commonly overlooked that should of became standard.

The stat creep is outdated and very boring, “No one” ever enjoyed that game play style.
VoIP is the only thing that made it bearable.
Someone needs to get with Anet and tell them to replace stat creep with something, anything, throw me a bone here.
We are seriously 8 months into this and there are still only 10-20 outfits for each armor type. Not mention only about 10 weapon models for each weapon type at 80. If you aren’t going to increase stats, at least give us some kind of cosmetic upgrades obtainable in game, without RNG. Thanks.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Except no one makes video games for roleplaying, so there’s no “discrimination”, people just expect too much.
Really? I think you are delusional. LotRO caters HEAVILY to its RPers: Player housing with full neighborhoods, customizable chat colors/fonts, chat logging built in, emote size and range quite extensive, up to like 7-8 full outfit slots, an actual /rp tag that changes your name color to show you are roleplaying, a bio that people can click on you to read, the ability to have children and a parent linked to your character, etc etc. Coupled with that, people get banned for harrassing RPers and GMs have been known to roleplay with the playerbase.
If LotRO is so great and amazing and the best at RP, why are you here complaining about something that is not even remotely acknowledged as GW2’s strong point?
I have no problem with giving RP’ers more tools to play around with each other, but if there are better options out there for RP and you know about it…well…It’s kind of your choice to be here!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Yes. I’d like to remove everything except rams and catapults. And if/when that happens I’d like you to go play something else.
OMG yes, strategy and fighting would happen again! No freekills hiding behind AC’s and Trebs, Siege would actually MAKE fighting instead of deter it.
Sometimes simplicity has it’s bonuses.
Alternatively they could just kittening fix AC’s and remove Siege golems.

One of the things that drove me away from WOW and SWTOR was the ridiculous number of abilities.
How are options a negative point in a game? I never played either one of those, but in GW1, a massive chunk of the fun was the number and synergy of all the skills in the game. Better yet, your entire bar was customizable, so you weren’t stuck with unchangeable attack skills and a paltry number of utility and elite skills.
In SWTOR and WoW, having so many options does nothing. It still ends up being the same 7-8 buttons you normally press 90% of the time. There is no “depth” added by having inferior abilities or abilities so situational you only use them every 3rd time you log in. Played WoW from release until Cata and a lot of buttons on a lot of classes were useless.
Same for Rift, played it from release and most of the time you end up using 7-8 buttons or a few macros with 8 different abilities in them, actually lowering the number of things you do.
They hit a good medium with skills on GW2, I don’t feel like I’m going to get carpal tunnel every fight in a dungeon trying to squeeze 100 more dps out of a rotation.

So I guess I got lucky buying 5 boxes the other day out of the blue and getting the mini and a glacial lodestone…This is a cool idea for making some cash though, thanks for sharing OP.
