So, you equate skill more with reacting to the unexpected and succeeding? PvE in MMO’s is subject to a practice effect because the content is predictable. While PvE can present relative levels of difficulty (or lack thereof), it’s possible to anticipate what you need to do. MMO PvP might require skill because it’s less possible to predict what a player will do.

Where talk about skill gets muddy is trying to differentiate skill from talent. Some peoples’ twitch reactions will never be as good as some others’. That’s talent. Those with bad twitch reactions can improve them within the range of what’s possible for them. That’s skill.

The best thing about it was I didn’t have to round up 4 random people to finish it. Otherwise nothing new or special. But at least it was something.

I was thinking instead of having to pick up bags for loot, they could place a new currency type called dog tags or something to that effect down next the gems and laurels and such. You can then cash in the dog tags/ whatever at the corresponding NPC in your border area for straight money or badges every night when you get through. Start with something simple like 1 tag = 5 silver. Or let us test it ourselves

It’s probably a bad idea, but the best I can think of to avoid the bag bloat we have now, not to mention having to clean out my bags every time we wipe a zerg.

The devs should apologise for trying ironing out the last minute bugs before they release it to us? Dat logic. If you look at the complaints thread after every patch you’ll notice how frequently “untested” comes up, so when they delay pushing something out for the benefit of our enjoyment I don’t get how the players have the right to complain about it.

I think you missed my point. No one needs to apologize to anyone, they just need to continue giving WvW some love and delivering on promises and it will work out in the end to the players and the developers.

TC has adapted to us, we have not adapted to them. That said, I am pretty sure I still haven’t seen DB’s NA guilds flex at the same time for more than once or twice a week. I work through most of primetime though so maybe they’re out there in full force every day and I’m only seeing the remnants when I log in around 11pm EST.

All I know is that there are no excuses left. DB is “full” now a lot of the time so there’s no reason why we should let our garrison get waypointed every Wednesday. I don’t want to hear how we’re losing because of Southsun events or burnout next week—those things should affect other servers every bit as much as they affect us. The bottom line is we need more people who want to win and show it.

The server may be full these days but I have noticed a significant drop in WvW participation. Most nights we don’t have queues, at least when I’m playing around 10pm-2am est. Actually we are usually outmanned during these hours except in EB. This has been like this the past 2 weeks.

I’m sure we’ll bounce back though, I have faith in the DB community

Well if it helps any, your SEA crew hasn’t backed down in the slightest. Still a massive SEA (pun) of angry red guys every morning when I log in. They actually are fabulous players and make me work hard at getting better. I think I’ve improved my game because of them.

I gotta say our SEA crew is truly impressive, and I do love running with them when I can get a day off work. They are some of most friendly and skilled WvW players I have met. They carry the weight of our NA time gap, and I can’t thank them enough

The most reliable way to make money playing this game is to go to work, make real money, and just convert gems. Doing it that way I make 4 times the amount of gold in game than if I actually played it, and I have extra money and the bills are paid.

Basically the only way to farm in this game is to get a job and trade real cash for gold haha, which is probably Anet’s intent from the beginning, as sick as it is.

That being said, I wouldnt waste your cash.

Now you’re basically screwed. 1-6 1-10 will drop something but nothing of value and definitely not the most rare of items that need the most fixing in the game like dusts or lodestones or any of the items one might actually need for anything.

In this game they use it to prevent you from accomplishing anything, having fun, farming or playing how you want. There is a fine line, and I don’t think Anet is even in sight of it yet.

Atually, I don’t think Anet is using RNG to prevent you from having fun or accomplishing anything. I think you and people like you are looking for a type of fun that this game isn’t really designed for, and you’re blaming the game for not matching your personal criteria. No game will be for all people. If you try to make a game for all people, it will naturally fail. This game is already too divided, and as a result, it has less focus than it should.

Unfortunately, the words play your own way are simply taken completely out of context, considering how many times Anet explained it long before the game went on sale. This is what they said (and I’m paraphrasing here).

In most games, the way to get the best gear was to do dungeons, then raid. In Guild Wars 2, they want people to be able to play different ways to get that gear. So in SPvP, well you don’t have to PvE at all to play that. And in WvW, you can get the best armor and weapons without actually doing PvE. And in PvE you can do dungeons, or events to get karma, or buy exotics off the auction house, or craft them.

This is what they meant (and said they meant) by play it your way. It didn’t mean that anything you could conceivably want to do you’ll be able to, because that makes no sense. If you want to stand in Lion’s Arch and do nothing and have everything handed to you…well that’s playing your way so they should allow it, right?

We already know you love this game no matter what they do. I don’t want any handouts, I just want to be able to kill things in a game designed around killing things and not be punished for it. Even with the best intentions, everything does not always go as planned. We had hoped to get the changes in for today’s reset, but it simply was not feasible to do so with the confidence that nothing was amiss. I completely agree with the criticism about having announced the plan and then having to change it, that’s my fault and something I shouldn’t have done. This system is still inbound and I’m fighting as hard as I can to make sure it gets in as soon as humanly possible. There are, however, a lot of moving parts to any change like this and we have to make as sure as possible that none of those parts are going to fail. Don’t take it so hard. Anybody with a reasonable mind knows that sometimes things come up blocking plans. The mere fact that you’re holding it back due to an error on your guys part does a lot more for the sake of the community than releasing it while it had said error. Ignore the QQers here, they’ll get over it soon enough, and some of them I’m sure are old enough to realize that some things can prevent you from getting what you want when you want it. <_<

Supremely disappointing. Look to Trion for how to manage the community. They deliver on schedule and ask the players what they think about big changes AND let them test them on a PTR. Is that so hard? To let us, the people paying you, give you feedback?

We want to help, but you won’t even let us! And then we get swept under the rug! It’s very frustrating to watch something this beautiful be so mismanaged. We need a test server for this kind of stuff, and the AC changes, and to test reimplementation of Orbs of Power.

We want WvW to succeed, but what hope is there if all balance is thrown out the window every other patch without warning?

Usually these are found in the tech section.

First what is your power supply, size and model. You may have to upgrade it as well if it’s not up to snuff.

I will say the GTX 660Ti if you don’t need to buy a PSU, a GTX 660 if you do as a good quality PSU in the 500-600 watt range will set you back $60-90 USD.

And still on XP? Really?

I know more people still using XP than Win 7 and 8 combined honestly, and I repair computers for some locals, family members, and businesses. It will take several years for an OS to gain traction, MS are idiots for rushing new ones out the door all the time, especially the last few they have done.

Back on topic, I recommend anything nVidia, the GTX660 is probably the best solid choice. I bought a laptop with a Radeon 63xx and a Radeon card for my tower and both machines are completely disappointing compared to my other builds I have done with nVidia in the past. Overheating problems and low performance.

Don’t bother with them anymore, it’s not worth the karma -> gold ratio anymore. I just spent 300k karma on an alt and received 80k back. I only got 1 lodestone + 7 obsidian shards and nothing else aswell.

I have come out this unlucky before. The first time I spent karma it was about 400k and I got 2 glacials 1 molten and about 10 obisidian shards. I felt completely ripped off. Went back with 100k and got 4 moltens and 3 glacials and the mini. It’s pretty dang random.

I don’t think we are that worried about it, the people who have been here with DB knew it was going to take a lot of people to fill our time gaps. I.E. here is a post I made a month ago when we were fighting Mags and Yaks (man I miss those guys attitude).

This is probably going to be the case. I don’t think DB has improved enough over the past month to get beyond 3rd place in T2, but I may be wrong.

I’m pretty sure we all knew what was going to happen, I was happy to just be green in T2 for a week, I thought it was a big accomplishment!

Dragonbrand has a healthy population in WvW and PvE. Any of the tier 3+ servers in WvW probably have active populations in both just because they have the numbers to be in the upper tiers.

Guardian 80 and a bunch of alts in the teens. Alts are a waste of time to me most of the time unless I’m just dead bored with no other game to play.

You aren’t missing anything, FoTM is like a dungeon in every other game with more chaos and less fun.

All rares were obtained from the daily bosses and Southsun Instigator farm for 5-29-13.

Rate nerf is still up in the air. But the claim that you can only salvage a possible of 1 ecto per rare now is wrong, proven at 1:02.

I debunked it in my own video but still both my samples of 166 and 77 show a .5~ with only one single double proc and no triple procs at all which used to be fairly common in salvage sessions. I’m fairly convinced something has changed with the procs but double procs can still happen only they seem a lot more rare now.

Aeon I’ll be expecting an apology, and I don’t recall asking for advice I’m offering information that I found and I think most people will find this relevant.

As the title states, i feel quite disapointed with all the stuff related to this island.
Everything that has been added is good only for their reward, and this has turned Southun into a farming paradise which is quite sad.

The story, well.. it’s just a cheap excuse to get everyone back on the island. No cinematics, no solo instances (aside from Canach/ Null), ankward plot (BTW, What is the Secret of Southsun? Yeah…it’s like Monkey Island.. no one knows)

The crab game, well, i just hate it… I don’t see any fun on it. The minigame from Halloween and Wintersday were way better than this.

The boss instances…well..let’s be clear. That Cannach encounter instance is not fun at all and Null is just another “piñata” boss. They are only good for their reward. Nothing else.

In sum: This is just a bunch of farmable events in a farmable zone populated by farmable and anoying mobs with a couple of farmable instances.

I really enjoyed the Frost & Flame content and I was really hopping to see a cool dungeon just like the molten facilities, but this….this is just good for profit. Not fun at all.

And the biggest problem with all this being farming based? DR prevents us from farming! GG anet, GG.

GW2 is literally a larger game than GW1. This is a fact, and you disagreeing with it does not change this. GW1, when first launched, had the Prophesies storyline and bare bones PvP. GW2 has a huge open world, much more substantial PvP than GW1 (remember, GvG only came 1.5 years in GW1’s life), and WvW. Vayne has provided you some hard, factual numbers showing you the difference in scale for GW1/2. (1 race vs 5. 6 classes vs 8. 500 quests vs 1500 dynamic events. No dungeon-like instance (SF came out 4 months into the game) vs 8 dungeons)

GW1 originally was created by 3 developers (Mike O’Brien, Patrick Wyatt, Jeff Strain). GW2 has a team of 300.

You have to really not like facts if you believe GW1 was somehow more “ambitious” than GW2, especially at launch. People tend to forget how the game barely had anything at launch. Take off those nostalgia goggles.

When did I say it was bigger, we were talking about ambition. There was no need for a long paragraph to try to put words in my mouth, thanks though. I don’t have any goggles on either, I didn’t like GW1 that much, but it was still a more groundbreaking ambitious game than this one is in my eyes.

Sure GW2 is bigger, but every other game is bigger than GW2 for the most part. So what’s your point?
