we cannot even sell the minipets. or use it. or make our character pimped. the cash that i/we spent during the early months of the game, where 100 gems is just less than 30 silver or even less than that, is not yet evened out. it hurts me so much looking back to months before that even the a.net economist defend the measly and almost laughable exchange rate. and we give us 3 minipets that we cannot even profit from.
at least compensate our patronizing well by giving us an almost rare weapon skin. or making the minipets sellable. or be only be gotten by those who paid them cash so its value will be high and high amount of gold can be gotten from them.

I really do completely understand your position and mostly I’m in the same boat. It’s 3 mini pets I’ll never use. But this will go a long way if it’s only the start to repairing the ties between the community and developers. Think about it, next time we may get that rare skin ticket instead of 3 mini’s, but I doubt they will send us anything if we all complain about the useless mini’s.

You have some strong points, but this is just a kind gesture and I don’t think we should take anything else from that, other than if they see we appreciate it, maybe we will get something even cooler next time

It took months of player reports to get them to look at the kill credit bug. It took pages of player complaints on the forums to get them to look into the recently broken salvaging bug.

Thousands of posts are far less convincing than reproducible empirical evidence. Do you really think all those posts had anything to do with the fix? I put my bets on the single post containing a test sample showing that salvages no longer went 0-3.

Someone actually mentioned that a Wi Flag event might be occurring with their algorithm they use for determining drops which would explain why some people consistantly have the best drops in the game and others have the worst doing the same events/dungeons weekly and monthly often in the same groups. Remember the reports from doing the 1 day event where multiple players had multiple characters located in SS ready for when the SS event was over so they could switch to their toons be moved to the SS channel their group was in and get multiple precursor drops from the same boss chest?

So far I believe this is most likely the case.

It fits what I’ve been seeing and we’d see not only bad drops from this as well as quick cutoffs when we’re placed in DR when an event begins despite of magic find numbers.

This is a very good explanation. After reading the article I’m personally convinced there is something wrong with whatever loot distribution algorithm they have in the game. Some of us are seeded for failure. Others get 3 precursors. It actually explains a lot, thanks for the link friend

As a member of Blackgate server, i have to say that i am quite impressed with how well Dragonbrand is doing. Tier 1 isn’t easy, and DB has been resolute. grats

This means a lot to some of us (well me anyway). I was very excited to face off against T1 servers even though I knew we had no chance of winning. This week has not disappointed, and I respect BG and JQ a lot more now than I did before I knew them in WvW The fact that DB hasn’t given up completely really reminds me why I call this server home.

I got pretty much the same. It’s annoying seeing as the post they put implied that there would be a 100% chance of a “weapon skin ticket” yet it seems that Rich Dragon Coffers are simply a renamed, re-skinned version of the normal Dragon Coffers.

What to do at 80? How about having fun. That means doing the dungeons I like, event chains I like and the WvW I like. I hardly if ever repeat content on a daily basis but instead cater to what I feel like doing. That keeps me going for the time being.

I never expected this game to support a hardcore 8 hours a day 7/7 playstyle. That’s exactly why I bought this game …

But it does support hardcore playstyle, through FOTM and gear grind. And maybe that’s fun for some players?

Being hardcore for me simply isn’t an option, regardless of whether I want to because I want other things more. A life without a job, without a girlfriend, without sport and without friends isn’t fun for me. If you have even one of those, playing hardcore is no longer an option. And while all of that could be optional to some, to me it isn’t. Therefor, hardcore gaming is impossible for me.

I played EverQuest for 12 years; with a fulltime job, having a girlfriend and friends. I was an endgame raider; top guild on server, sometimes top guild gamewide. You don’t have to give up your life to do these things even in grind content key/time locked mmo’s….you just have to find like minded people that pull their own weight and learn their class.

2 hours a night, 5 nights a week; when you finish the expansion and put it into farming for gear lockdown it’s 2 hours a night 2-3 days a week. I find that guilds with poor leadership, guilds with members who expect to be carried and never learn(who stay due to poor leadership), and hybrid/family guilds tend to actually spend more time raiding per year with much less content explored.

A WoW guild, Group Therapy, the 4th guild in their realm(out of thousands) raids 2 days a week. 2.

GW2 does not have the long lockouts, or prerequisites to complete anything like both older games mentioned. GW2 does not have these types of generally higher timesinks, yet you still have people who spent a ridiculous amount of hours playing.

I have no problem with people wanting to be casual; in fact it is why I play GW2. I just get tired when people think everyone who does something in an mmo that requires coordination and/or skill it automatically means they have to be a no lifer.

No lifers exist in every facet of mmo content.

My main point with the new system is this:

The old system CAUSED the very high difference in WvW skill and population between Tiers.

Ability: Servers were isolated from each other for long periods of time. So new tactics develop in Tier 1 that Tier 2 has no idea about. Evidence: look at many of the post by DB players in this very thread. They are talking about how much different we do things and how much they are learning. If DB had not played us this week, they STILL wouldn’t know about it.

Population: AFTER free transfers ended, the #1 reason guilds transferred were to fight new opponents and get out of the deadlock of fighting the same guilds and servers over and over again. Look at IRON. Their guild was so done with with WvW because they were stuck against Vizuna Square for so long and couldn’t leave the Tier.

Look at the amount of compression of WvW guilds the servers have gone under since free transfers ended. Entire WvW populations were eaten by the current Tier 1 servers. SBI, IOJ, KN, FA, DH, CD and even some EU servers. If those guilds had remained spread out, we’d have much closer matches even with the volatility.

Those two main factors have cause a huge spread in points when servers go up even one Tier. But how to fix this?

You remove the stagnation that caused it: Check.

You make transferring to lower servers cheaper: Check. (When they lowered the pop cap, they did it for everyone, its cheaper to move to more lower pop servers than ever before)

In six months we are going to see a much more even top two or even top three tiers than we see right now because of this system. Because guilds will move off the stacked servers cuz they will realize how much of a blowout they are causing in their matches.

HOD was stacked. It no longer is. The guilds will spread out because now they won’t be afraid of boring matches because they will get to fight good opponents if they roll the right random number again, instead of having to hope for a server to implode.

Well thought out and well said. This is a painful growing period for WvW, but I think in the end we will end up with more balance between servers overall as guilds move to and from other servers to balance things out.

I think they’re gonna do the same here. Probably reduce the ratio in the range of 1:1 to 1:2

Mass increase to lower prices, small tweak to get the price where they want.. perfect set up. I do feel bad for people who hoarded such as yourself, that stuff can ruin games for people.

It is really nice to see ectos become “useful” again, sadly CoF P1 and meta event farming is really the only way to produce these kind of items and that sucks.

I really think they should adjust slowly rather than adjust quickly then react to fix things. Leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths. Start off with a 1:1 and then if it needs to drop more, increase to 1:3…

BTW I didn’t invest too much in Dust, I was just holding my accumulated dusts since Malchor farm.

But I went all out on Elaborate Totems and Powerful Venom Sacs. I bought 1000g worth.

You are assuming that they see it as a problem. If they are making more money this way than from direct sales, then to them there is no problem at all. Since they are continuing to offer these, then my guess is they are making good money from them. It will only end if people stop spending so much money buying these items. Since that is unlikely, due to the old adage that there is a sucker born every minute, this means they won’t stop with the RNG boxes and the threads will continue.

I think the positive PR for once for Anet would help tremendously considering how badly they are talked about on other MMO sites. Also I would be curious to know if hundreds of thousands of people buying a skin for $10 is worth less than a couple thousand people spending their paychecks for 2 weeks.

I think profit would be a wash and the PR would help their image greatly. Just my 2 cents.

1. World Ability Points have been refunded to all players who earned them. Changes were made to Arrow Cart Mastery, allowing players to reallocate their points. This is a one-time reset.

2. Arrow Cart Mastery skills have had their range reduced to be better in balance with other siege weapons.

Awesome. Very disappointed new skins remain under RNG however. Once again the GS is way too big, so I’m not too hurt personally, but I feel sorry for all the customers this affects as well.

There are plenty of basic looking greatwords in the game already . I really don’t see what your problem is .

I don’t know, but TBH I don’t consider several of those skins as looking like they belong on a level 17. Out of the 19 GS he linked, 5 I’d consider as low level looking (the ones called “iron greatsword” “bronze greatsword” and so on), the rest I wouldn’t see as not belonging on a level 80. Actually, my guardian at different times has used tkittenon vanguard and the lionsguard greatswords until settlings for the guild commendation one (which I love how it looks, but it’s one you might call a fat greatsword), and a guildie loves the ghastly greatsword (it’s the one you get from AC tokens), and as a guardian I’d love to be able to get foefire’s essence if it wasn’t so hard in the first place (since it looks just like the guardian’s spirit weapon), just to name a few, and I like how most of the other ones linked look like .

Actually, visions of the mysts, other than the particle effects, look just like one of the most basic greatswords.

I agree with you for the most part with this, I have used tkittenon Vanguard weapons before, and I considered using the Skybringer skin for a while. The others just don’t appeal to me, but I can see why people like them.

I’m a sucker for particle effects coming from DAoC where pretty much every weapon had them that dropped.

I’m really not trying to put anyone down, I would just like to see some new skins that aren’t so fat, but still have the intricate detail like the jade GS. If it was a more traditional european style weapon I guess is my point, I would personally like it a lot better.

And I agree the Ghastly GS is an amazing model, I actually missed that one in his post!

No it wouldn’t. You only have half the gems you would need to buy a coffer. There is nothing confusing about it. You wouldn’t be able to combine the gems to get something. You either need 300 blue gems or 300 red gems.

That being said, they should keep 1 kind of gem and just take the skins off RNG.

I started playing GW2 because I thought the whole point of this game was not to force the player to grind like so many other MMOs do. And yet as soon as you get to endgame, the only endgame options that are really there is to grind.

• FOTM= Grind!

• You want that dungeon armor set? Grind the hell out of that dungeon until you end up venomously hating dungeons!

• Want that awesome weapon skin from the event?! Well first you have a 0.004% chance to get the crate, and then you have another 0.004% chance to get a weapon skin ticket in that crate. Basically, more grind!

ANet, you’ve created an endless cycle of grind for endgame, and you lied to everyone who bought your game. I love GW2 but it has in no way delivered on it’s promises.

Because everything you listed is a cosmetic upgrade, and because cosmetic upgrades aren’t required to play the game, you’re not being required to grind anything. The only thing you’ve got a legitimate complaint on is Fractals, but that was designed specifically for grinders. Complaining about grinding in Fractals is like going to a strip club to complain about nudity.

I agree with what you said about Fractals, and it’s a funny analogy. The problem is when they make the end game about cosmetics, well people are going to want to get them. Combine that with a promise of a grind free game, and one of the steepest grinds out there right now in the modern MMO world, and you can see why we are upset.

Some people do not need skins and rewards to have fun in a game. Others do. It’s just a different play style and there is no reason to not reward both and make everyone happy.

Been getting some good fights and surprisingly some good 1v1 fights yesterday even with all the zergs around. Whoever that thief from JQ was, WOW! You hit me for nearly 8k and I have a high toughness build. I feel like we have learned a lot more in 3-4 days fighting JQ and BG than we did in the entire last 2 weeks we spent in T2.

Maybe it’s just me, but it’s refreshing to actually have someone make us look like we can’t compete sometimes. I know people start not showing up then, but this is the way we learn and become stronger as a server, by fighting those stronger than us.

I know a lot of us don’t like losing, but keep on keeping on!

I’ve sort of seen this. I wouldn’t say I’ve ever been in a zone that was completely empty, but I’ve certainly been in zones where one or two people running by is about all you see. Until I start an event and then people seem to show up out of nowhere.

I find duo-ing the best PvE experience. Luckily my GF plays so we just roam around doing events, hearts, killing random things. Having two people makes things significantly more enjoyable since you aren’t alone when you are downed.

Not everyone can do this, but I have found it makes things more fun.

Also this. I can’t stress enough how much more fun it is leveling on hearts and exploration with my fiance around.

Guest to TC for PvE content. The reason a lot of people are in WvW is because it IS the end game right now. TC is a great server and If I wasnt so attached to DB and all the good people on that server it would be my second choice. Always a busy place with friendly people.

Good fights in EB last night. Amazing show by BG on capturing most the known map with one massive RISE and friends organized crew. For a second there we thought you were joining JQ on beating up DB, then you started taking our stuff.

took whole 100% DB side in EBG within 20mins of first reset.. so it was JQ turn but jq super fast on upgrading things with arrow carts .. it was little challenge as always.

Seeing all of DB side gone that quickly made everyone JQ lol.

DB couldn’t even manage itself in T2 before the RNG matchups. I don’t know why they wanted to fight T1 teams; It was obvious they were going to get obliterated.

You are uninformed. This has been a fun match, and T2 was quite even. I feel like DB is learning a lot, and we do just fine when we have the numbers. We just don’t have the population in WvW to fight off JQ or BG atm. That said, I have enjoyed this match up immensely more than last weeks lol. If we had the coverage the other 2 servers had this would be amazing Keep at it everyone, enjoying the fights JQ and BG!

The last 2 weeks you were in T2 was not even. Why, we never figured out, but the amazing push & numbers you guys had the first two weeks was absent in every way. If it were even, it would have been like the third week where we took the lead on the morning before reset. That being said, DB definitely has it in them to make T2 balanced and quite even. They just need to show up next time we all get into the fray. I really hope they do too, and that when we all do meet again, we can bring the tactics we are both learning in our respective tough matchups to the table too.

But otherwise, if I look at your last weeks in T2, I would say it wasn’t even. Maybe reset weekend was, or specific days, but further into the week things changed.

Those were the last two weeks we were in T2. Those are close matches, the graphs and points don’t lie. Just because we weren’t first doesn’t mean it wasn’t even or a balanced tier haha. Balance, Bug Fixes, New content (not 2 hours of temporary stuff for 1 month of development time, that’s not enough), ability to get items from killing monsters, Fix siege disparities in WvW.

New Maps in WvW, real dungeons, fractal rework.

Removal of DR, Less RNG on pretty much every aspect of the game. Rebalancing of roles and what purpose each class has, since a lot of them are useless in some situations or can’t do certain things.

The game really needs an identity more than anything. They need to decide what kind of game they are making. Changes come and go that completely contradict each other, and the game has suffered from it, especially over the last few months.

I’m not sure what all else they should work on, but something has to happen soon.

A lot of us are holding our mats eagerly awaiting the release of new more serious legendaries, I know that. They should have the kiddy weapons like a lot of them are now, but some real ones for those of us who want a legendary that makes us proud, not giggle like a 4 year old. Choices are good, no reason to not have real legendaries on top of the goofy ones!

But basically, keep it diverse and interesting and don’t just go grimdark, but glowy…

Word is a couple of guilds on SoR aren’t too happy about TW’s transfer shenanigans. It isn’t helping the fact that some of those players already felt a little swindled by a false promise of good fights during the guild’s prime time.

Hopefully TW’s obsession with BG doesn’t destroy that #1 NA community. eek.

Actually we’re really just bored as hell. TW leaving for a week or two is a good thing because now it’s a tad bit more even and less queue times.

Good post. Prepare to be attacked until it slides off the first page. The game has a lot of glaring problems right now that are being ignored or put on the back burner. Hopefully things will change, but I doubt the attitude of people will change any time soon. As of now sometimes I manage to log in to do the daily and WvW an hour or two. But it’s hard to even do that most of the time.

330+ Posts, keep throwing out ideas and opinions guys, all we can do is make our voices heard for the problems the game needs to be fixed. It’s a long shot, but we have to keep at it Lot’s of good reads in here!
