I don’t think you’d get banned for reporting a possible bot group. Just because one of them is human, I’d think automating four others is surely botting. Do what you think is right. Anet can’t fault you for wanting a better game environment.
getting into Arah on SoR last week+ has been an issue. Zone is seriously bugged and bots are glitching things every time server is reset. Gates to Arah have been closed for quite some time with no chance to start the event to get em open as its broken.
Yep, on my server, the event to open the gates/gain control of them, has been bugged more often than not. I’ve seen them open once since I hit 80 two weeks ago and it was at 4am CST and there wasn’t a soul to be found except a huge bot group :\
I’m going to sound lame, I’m sure, but I really don’t see any difference between those pictures and what I see in game already I wear glasses though… maybe I just don’t see well enough.
Server forums would be nice, I must admit. I don’t seem to be having trouble meeting and making new friends on my server though. May I suggest, in the mean time, while we wait and hope for a server forum, that you advertise in /map for a good social guild? Might have some luck that way.
Just playing devil’s advocate here. I know the spam can get annoying, but… They could argue that they are enjoying the game their own way and shouldn’t be banned or have to quit just because you don’t want to utilize one of your game features and turn off emotes for a while.
That said, I really wish they’d stop. Its very inconsiderate.
I agree with you. When I first stepped into this game world, the thing I found myself doing was not playing so much as looking. It’s really a breath-taking world design.
I’m American, and wasn’t aware that the word bite meant anything but…an act directly followed by chewing… or a chill in the air.
Oh, I can’t wait! That looks like such cheesy fun
And is it just me or did anyone else not get emails?
Check your spam folder, that’s where mine were. Odd as I’ve never had ANet emails go there before.
I don’t have a spam folder and didnt get one either. Don’t know why. Odd.
I guess I really don’t understand why everything has to be staggered? It starts before halloween and ends after. If everything is turned on across the board at exactly the same time, Yes, It’ll start ‘technically’ on different days/times but it gets turned off at the same time too. Everyone would get equal time with the event. Is it a “who gets to be first?” contest or something? Because, it makes no differenct to me if it happens in EU time zones 7 hours before it happens here in my time zone. shrug
I’ve noticed this as well. I just thought maybe I was miss remembering how much exactly I started with, but I see that I’m not going senile after all if you two are having the same issue.
“It surely doesnt offer the ability to make money or ‘play’ the TP.”
My initial investment has paid back by more than a factor 10 over the ~3 weeks I’ve played the TP. And that’s in actual gold coins available for me to use, not some expected future returns from stockpiled goods.
This.
I’m not having any trouble making a profit using the TP to buy or sell. Just as in every mmo I’ve ever played, what sells is the materials to make items and not the items themselves.
I didn’t conduct any tests, but I’ve leveled 4 characters in the 1-15 zones. All five on each character. On the characters who went through with magic find, it did seem like they got more unidentified dyes than the ones who went through without.
Without +magic, I averaged 1-3 dyes per 1-15 zone. With +magic I averaged 3-5 per 1-15 zone.
The usable by class/level/race option would be nice, but just an option to sort light/medium/heavy armor would be a huge improvement.
Actually, I think you’ll find you an already sort by level Not sure why you would need class and race options on the TP? If you have Item preview on your own character, You know what it will look like, that its, for example, leather so your character can wear it and that its the right color and quality (white, blue, green, yellow etc)
No. Lemons are bought in bulk from a single karma vendor in Gendarran Fields.
I believe they are also on the “loot bag” loot table (apples are in the same boat), but the chance of getting them is incredibly small. Not had one drop yet.
Actually, there’s a karma dealer in Metrica Province who also sells them. Or there was the first week I played because that’s where I got mine. Strange, because aren’t they a 10-20ish zone harvest level? I’m really not sure.
Also, I’m not absolutely positive, but I think I harvested apples in Queensdale, but if I did it was VERY few. Most I bought from the Karma lady at the Orchard there in Queensdale.
Granted, it would have been nice to have more…non shiny happy people legendary weapons, but we got what we got. Its not as if this is the only content or legendary weaponry we’ll ever see. Its just the stuff for the original game. Most companies, including this one, have mmo’s with many expansions. Maybe the next one will include the uber dark overlord of all dooms set and the folks that really like carrying flowers and unicorn rainbows will be sad like y’all are now.
Absolutely. I figure the average game costs 40-80 bucks. This is right in the middle and on those average games, I might spend a week or two on them, beat them then put them down and not look at them again. I’m going on my third week of GW2 and still going strong. I love the game and see a lot of replay value. So I figure, even if I quit tomorrow I’ve certainly already gotten my money’s worth.
As far as I can tell, when you get disconnected, you start again. I haven’t found a way to start where you left off. On that note, if you are doing a disguise story do NOT hit your H key. Hitting H key while in disguise in a story instantly crashes your game to desktop. I’ve tried it several times to see if it was a fluke and I bug reported it as well, but just be forewarned.
Every race has its more shady characters. Doesn’t matter how noble or honorable or whatever. Even the angels had fallen angels yes? Besides, Norn are not angels. They do what they have to do to survive. I see no problem there with them being thieves.
As for being too big? You forget, when you are making a thief, one of the options is a headband and it says under the headband these are bruisers. Brawlers who lack subtlety and fight in the front lines.
Why is everyone so down on a little harmless silly dancing? In the Sylvari forum people are complaining that the dance is ridiculous, here there is complaint that the dance is ridiculous…its supposed to be! No one has a ‘cool’ dance. They are meant to make you smile/giggle and go on with your game.
I disagree! My Norn Ranger has a greatsword that’s almost as big as she is! It should be hard for her to carry. If you were to hand a sword that size to my Asura, it’d crush her to death.
I agree. I’ve been able to complete them, but its been extremely difficult by comparison to my Asura.
I did. My norn female is as tall as I could make her. She has the slim build so she looks like an Amazon. Gotta love the Amazonian Norn Ranger!
I picked Norn for my ranger because the whole frozen north theme just seemed like fun. I would disagree about the other races being ugly and stupid though I think they are fun and unique. Even the Charr which I really dislike, are unique and fun in their own way. That said, I picked the Norn for my ranger because I thought it kinda fit. Northern frost, hunting, trapping, fighting. Nature at its harshest. Since I created her, I’m finding it hard to not make every character I create a Norn.
I’ve gone just the opposite actually. I figure, my norn ranger is in a zone that’s very neutrally colored, so I went with Scarlet, Ebony, Antique Gold and Caramel. Sounds like a horrid combination I’m sure but I wanted a sort of piratey feel.
This question keeps bugging me. I have nothing against the Pale Tree and their cohorts but a lot of times (especially if you get the White Stag hunt option) I feel that there’s something intrinsically wrong with the Pale Tree which is why the Nightmare court exists.
I keep getting this freedom fighters vibe from the Nightmare Court. I mean, sure they want to spread hate and despair and a lot of the Nightmare Court characters ONLY want to spread hate and despair but when you actually think about the goal of the Nightmare Court, they want to be free from the influence of the Pale Tree because they would rather prefer to face life realistically (love with loss, joy with pain, dream with the shattering truth of reality). The execution might be flawed but the intent is not evil – it is actually noble.
It’s like the Grove is North Korea, you know. They’re all seemingly happy but it’s really just a cult of personality, and some of these Nightmare court guys have woken up to the reality of the rest of the world around them and realized that hey… things aren’t so peachy.
Well, but there’s the group in the 15-25? zone I think that broke from the pale tree and they aren’t considered evil though. They call them the dreamless or some such. I think the Nightmare court is intended to be the evil version of them. Maybe I’m wrong though.
Actually, I didn’t notice until my daughter pointed it out to me in the Green Knight story quest line. I think it blended quite well and didnt’ seem forced at all. It seemed fairly naturally laid out to me. shrug
Actually, I commend Anet for going where they have. So many game companies either make light of it (A certain game that makes fun of homosexuality by making their elvish characters tell self depreciating jokes about manicures comes to mind) or ignore it completely. Its part of our world so why shouldn’t people who are really homosexual feel free to see it done tastefully in a game world?

I was just wondering what server you are on that there are hardly no Sylvari. It seems on my server every time I turn around there are Sylvari and when I’m in the Sylvari styled zones, There are always tons of people. I don’t mean to flame, and that is not my intention but if you are really having that much difficulty, maybe thief is not the class for you? I only say this because I had the same issue with an Elementalist and when I changed to another profession, I did fine. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Find yours and play them to your advantage!
I don’t really like raging about stuff, but I can’t agree more. I’ve actually deleted my Sylvari because I just couldn’t get used to the running animation, after playing my main charr, where the animations are simply stunning. A fix would be nice, same with face expressions.
Isn’t our perspective funny? I can’t create a Charr because I think they look ridiculous and I hate nearly everything about the way they look, run, move, fight, sound… But I love the animations for the Sylvari. Different folks like different things I guess
the dance moves are a joke i hope they redo them……
I thought dancing was supposed to be fun/funny. I kinda hope they don’t redo them. When I saw my little Sylvari dancing it made me smile because it was so ridiculous. But all the dances I saw were silly. Isn’t that the point? Comic relief to an extent?
The Sylvari sounds of pain don’t bother me nearly as much as the Norn female pain sounds do. When you jump off of something a little too high I swear its a male voice you hear cry out.
I personally don’t think its that odd that a person derived from a plant would have a plant name. Nearly every human name has a meaning. Kimberly means Warrior in god’s forest. Christopher means child of god/christ like. Angela means of the angels. Then you have the women with flower names…Rose, Violet, lily… Not to mention the women with color names like Scarlet. Wouldn’t surprise me if the first Scarlet was a red head or a read head’s daughter. Names are quite subjective.
edited for spelling.
I don’t think personality has much to do with my choices. For instance, going by your ideal of what each class personality would be, I’m a walking contradiction because my three favorite classes are ranger, guardian and mesmer. I really can’t tell you which of the three I like better.
I just don’t see the point in making a group. The experience is the same, the loot is the same, the kills are the same regardless of if I’m grouped with someone or we are running the stuff together as singles. This way, you get to interact with other players without feeling obligated to follow a certain, pre-mapped course of action.
…But then, I am also one who’ll stick around and help the next guy get that skill point or rez the fallen or help when someone says, “Hey, can you help me kill _?” So if the experience in game is the same as if I were grouped, why accept an invite unless its for a dungeon where its necessary?

I see your point there Archer. Devious. Very devious indeed. My wallet is crying right now at the prospects.
I have sadly played lots of games that work the same way. Closest angle first, the distance.
Also, “losing” my target as I’m circle strafing.
I don’t have an issue with tab target…but this! I have serious problems with. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to stop strafing with 4-8 things chasing me to retarget and of course, die.
Oh my god I forgot about that game! I wasted so much time jumping and running and ultimately crashing into a firy ball of unicorn doom…
I’m not sure…maybe its just bad luck or timing? When I’m logged in, its hard to do the heart quests or anything else without seeing/running into/participating in dynamic events. Could be a server by server thing too I guess. I’m on Devona’s Rest. Give it a shot?
Truth be told is the longbow really any better? It looks like it belongs in a garden or on a mantle for springtime fresh homes, not killing monsters in an epic and legendary setting. That said, my character is a girl so I guess it doesn’t matter much
I agree as well. When I first saw the game advertised, I wasn’t that impressed actually. I just thought, “Oh lord, another mmo.” But my husband started playing and watching him I was hooked. I have altaholism anyway, so I understand not being able to choose. I’ll end up buying gems just for more slots because I’ll need a slot for each profession!
I searched the game bugs area to see if there was anything else posted about this, but I’m not finding anything and thought I would let you know.
When entering the green story quests that use disguises, opening your H key (hero window) crashes you to desktop. This makes you restart the story quest. I tested this and it happens every time without fail for me.
No offense intended to the OP, but you might want to take a look at the server lists before stating your number 3. I started playing a week ago and there were about three servers “full” . Half of the rest were “high” and the other half was medium. Today, when I look at the server list most are full, some are high and only two are medium. That sounds like the game is getting busier not slower.
The servers seem to be back up by the way. At least, Devona’s Rest is.
Yep, leather also does it. The legs will show through the backs of my female’s boots, her bow sinks into her back when not in hand, hair spears through her shoulders so that it looks like its growing out of her shoulder and attaching to her head. They are rather minor though and hard to notice…except for the hair in the armor shoulders shudder its kinda creepy so I use the pony tails that fall well away from the neck and back.
Yes, I’ve had that happen too, but never on my Norn! My Asura elementalist gets stuck like that all the time and the only way to unstick her is to log to character select and back.
My gal Amaki Blip. Mesmer of great skill, charm, good looks and genius ;-)
I rolled an Asura originally because I wasn’t keen on the female mage armours. Now, all the other races just don’t feel right – its true then, eventually we’ll all serve the Asura!
I love this. Its so cute, the little pink undies remind me of underoos. Yep, my age is showing. I doubt most of you are old enough to remember those
I like the armor choices in general for females (of every race). They are unique to most games I’ve played. Yeah, some are skimpy and sexy but many are very modest. Most of my Norn Ranger’s outfits to date have not only been neck to toe coverage, but so have my Asura.
I love that the outfits are ranging from sexy to modest and even the modest ones look good. I hated the female armors in EQ2 because the characters all looked like they were going into a convent tomorrow.
Just a thought, but it might make things easier to keep track of (at least for me) if my characters had a small amount of personal space in the bank.. you know, space not shared with the other characters. I know there are times when I think I have something only to discover/remember that I accidentally used it for another character. Yes, this is operator error and not Anet’s fault. Just something on my small wish list.
I agree as well. WvW battle equipment is obviously important in WvW :P but it shouldn’t interfere with the other things possible in the zone.
