Actually I’d probably be ok with Downed in PVP if the downed person couldn’t do anything by themselves. They were completely reliant on their team mate to get them back up. No attacks, no heal, no CC from the ground.

I just want to see the gap closer nerfed or removed from it. After they first jump me and I successfully roll and start kiting out their quickness, they’re instantly on me again because of the broken gap closing capability of HSS.

Why can't I PVP with my friends in the Battle Grounds?

I want to que up with friends and do a few battle Grounds. Why wont it let us? It really needs to be fixed. Yes i know SPVP but we are just wanting to relax and have fun. This needs to be fixed!

You can play with your friends via tournaments. We will continue as well to improve the ability to play with friends in pickup games, but it will always be somewhat limited because we do not want large groups of guilds pub stomping the pick up games.

I know all I want is duo-queue myself. That doesn’t seem like it’d unbalance the game.

Thieves are a pain in thekitten but I’ve found I can hard-counter HSS spamming thieves on necro with Well of Darkness and Well of Corruption. Throw 20 bleed stacks on them and watch them die while flailing blind.

100b warriors are worse. If I fail to dodge the stun I can expect to eat up to 10k damage from a single 100b, with 3100 Armor.

The elementalist is also many times more versatile than the thief. If we are just considering how many key-presses and brain cells you have to rub together to kill an unskilled opponent then the thief would probably need fewer.

Versatility is not necessarily important in sPVP.

Especially in a 5v5 tournament where people basically have ‘roles’ to fill. Thieves fill the same role as elementalists, and do it easier and better.

I don’t like it because it makes a 1v2 very improbable. I’ve still won 1v2 but it is exceptionally hard. You basically need either quickness or stability to stomp someone.

Underwater is fine, but yes sharks definitely ruin it. It’s a PVP match, why are there uncontrolled PVE elements involved?

But in a game like GW2 where a single profession can be completely different with the change of 10 trait points and a utility skill, its almost as if you COULD change from terran to zerg midgame. Basically what you’re proposing would be a game where everyone spends 85% respeccing mid game and 15% actually playing.

Also on a complimentary note, players change champions in league in order to create a different comp to compete against their opponents. As of now in GW2, players are changing professions between games solely in response to the maps.
I.e. Mesmer changes for Khylo.

Don’t get me wrong however, my main support for the topic is in regards to swapping weapons from your bags out of combat. I merely bring up this point because you seem to think that profession swapping is of a parallel with League champion changes or SC2 race changes, which is not true.

Well, to go off track a bit, Mesmer’s do need to be toned down for Khylo. Repair kits should not be able to be carried through portals.

But consider this, if that person is changing/looking at traits to try to counter what they’re fighting, they are most likely not fighting and putting their own team at a disadvantage.

I also don’t believe traits are powerful enough to swing the battle too much in a person’s favor.

I’m 100% in support of swapping weapons. I don’t like the idea of limiting a class at all in their selections. It only leads to stagnation. The kind of gameplay that I like is the kind of gameplay where I have to out-think and out-play my opponent. And part of that is using all the abilities I have available to me, including weapons.

If Heartseeker didn’t have the teleport it would be alright.

But if you roll away they’re just going to be right on you again in under a second.

Right now I basically have to run shield for stun or I can’t beat a good thief. Rolling is not enough to save you from HS spam.

@Ahlen As it has been stated before, you have five minutes before every game to change what you would like. You can’t swap from terran to zerg 25 minutes into a SC2 match can you? You can’t get 15 minutes into a LoL game and decide Sona was a bad choice can you?

Which was not my point at all.

You can however swap from Terran to Zerg or choose that Sona was a bad choice BETWEEN games, which is what rounds are. They are the same as a 2/3 match-up in LoL or SC2.

In between tournament rounds professions should be freely exchangeable. And weapons and traits (not points) should be changeable at any time, including during a match.

I’m certainly not arguing that people should be able to change professions DURING THE MATCH.

I hate it because it makes winning 1v2 almost impossible, even if I’m better than the other two.

In games without downed state I’ve been able to take on as many as 1v5 and win. In GW2 1v2 alone is highly improbable.

Counter-play exists in many sports and e-sports. Character switching exists in almost all e-sports. (SC Races, WoW arena teams, TF2 character swaps, LoL/DoTA hero changes)

Disabling weapon switching? Hell no. That’s a terrible idea. Why would you prevent someone from utilizing all the features of their class to compete? You certainly aren’t prevented from it.

How about when you win or lose a round, you analyze what you could do differently and attempt to adapt so that next round you do better. That’s what real e-sport competitors do.

We get it, queue times are too long

Currently right now I’m a member of a large Alliance that is doing very well in WvW but we are only able to get a small fraction of our Alliance into WvW at any given time. This is the end game for us and many of us went in at level 1 and have spent our time leveling by defending our realm. It’s the main reason we wanted to play this game.

That being said, is there anything conversations going on in the background about fixing it so more are able to get in or adding a indication of what number we are in the queue? The only solution for another Alliance was to transfer to another server that was low population so guarantee more members would get in. I don’t feel like that is an acceptable option with all the time and money spend on guild upgrades for each guild.

Also – it doesn’t seem like the queue actually works as intended as we’ve conducted experiments where we’ve queued up at the same time and some pop in 10 minutes and other 6 hours. We’ve also noticed that if you re-queue every 10 minutes you are way more likely to get in.

Thoughts on this?

I find it unlikely, and hope that they won’t, increase the population caps.

For the simple reason that I don’t want WvW to be completely decided by numbers, rather than ability.

Don’t worry in a couple months people will be bored of WvW and you’ll be able to get plenty in.
