Teq is the hardest world boss to do at this point, simply due to his rework. It requires a minimum number of players, and some intense coordination to make it work.
On the other hand, the other world bosses are still stand and spam fests which require no effort for their shinies. Right now, the people are going to flock to those for precisely that reason.
Eventually, when each gets its own ‘upgrade’ similar to Teq, people should start doing him again, so long as everything is on about the same level for time, difficulty, and shinies.
Or, and stay with me here, nobody will do any of them. Just like Teq on a lot of servers.
What no of course not, there’s way too many ways to get infusions for them to be empty. At worst I just buy them from the robot inside fractals.
If your infusion slots are completely empty, are you even trying?
Yeah our matchup this week (FA/SBI/Mag) is actually pretty balanced. Compared to the kittenfest of the last 3-4 weeks it’s really refreshing.
I know I enjoy being a 30/30/30/30/30 warrior with 6 Utility slots.
If they announce an expansion, if anything, they would make more currency and it would bring back a lot of players. Introduce new playstyles for existing weapons as well as expanding on existing ones, introduce the Tengu/Largos. Introduce Northern Tyria, Cantha, and Elona. New professions… The possibilities are endless.
They would make less off a traditional expansion. Not everyone will buy it and leave the game.
I already paid for a expansion in gems!
No you didn’t, you paid for the services that the gems were used in.
Seriously, why do people hate on Anet for trying to make money and stay afloat? This isn’t a single player game, THEY HAVE OVERHEAD COSTS.
Godkitten kids, go back to school.
I did the new path once, got my 10 achievements, and will not be going back. The time/reward is just meh.
Unless you’re doing 26+ Fractals I can’t really imagine the need to min/max so much though. And if you’re doing fractals that high, do you REALLY want to pug anyway?
Lol, Fractals THAT high…
As for min/maxing, it’s more about the player, the gear he’s wearing is usually just a good indicator…
I don’t see the point in doing fractals higher than 26 tbh. The risk/reward doesnt’ get better, it gets worse.
God I’d be so happy for conditions to be fully viable in PVE.
Something about stacking 25 bleeds and watching the numbers fly everywhere on the screen makes me want to vomit with glee.
Honestly I don’t understand why people even say it’s ‘difficult’
When the only ‘difficulty’ from the Teq encounter comes from the fact that he has an kitten of HP and a short timer. The actual encounter mechanics are not even remotely hard. I can go through the entire fight without being even downed or being in danger of being downed.
Teq was buffed in the wrong fashion. DPS races are not even remotely fun, and never have been.
Unless you’re doing 26+ Fractals I can’t really imagine the need to min/max so much though. And if you’re doing fractals that high, do you REALLY want to pug anyway?
It’s especially messed up for new players I imagine. Just started playing the game today, you’re off doing some cool event you haven’t seen before with a few players. Zerg train shows up and starts screaming at you. On your first time with the game.
There have been times where I just want to mess with the champ train by going there with guild and messing their rotation up. I haven’t yet but…man is is tempting.
All I see are completely subjective opinions.
After reading the forums for awhile, I’ve come to the conclusion that GW1 players are the whiniest player-base to ever inhabit an MMO.
I find it amusing how the players here CLAIM they want GW2 to be different from other MMOs… yet on this very forum I see:
- Cries for a traditional “expansion” model.
- Instanced “raid” content.
- Hard modes.
- Tank/DPS/Healer trinity
It sure doesn’t sound like you all really want things to be all that different after all.
Good thing the forums is one person and their opinion amirite. It’s totally not a bunch of people with varying opinions.
Any expansion they release will probably sell pretty well tbh.
Don’t listen to the forums, typical whiny vocal minority really. Expansion would bring back players as well.
Considering how much entertainment/content you get for the price, it’s a pretty great return.
We don’t need a expansion cause its the same stuff anyway. We need a cash shop removal so theyll focus more on the game than on their little baby.
lol….
“Screw Anet, they don’t deserve money they should just keep hosting the enormous cost of bandwidth and server allocation for nothing!”
Godkitten , kids these days..
lol @ OP, I actually think that MAYBE 1-5% of the GW2 population came from GW1. GW1 was an insanely tiny niche game.
I stopped bothering after we had an amazing attempt, did everything right, but apparently didn’t have enough DD to bring him below 20%.
The fact that a lot of builds are totally useless on this fight makes it crappy too.
The only thing wrong with this encounter really is he has way too much health.
Agony resist is in general a stupid gating mechanic that really shouldn’t exist. It’s just so specific to one tiny area of the game and doesn’t do ANYTHING in the rest. Which seriously bothers me.
Shouts do scale pretty well with healing. Shout warriors just want to be able to claim to be DPS and having gearset where power is the major stat is the first step to fooling yourself.
I prefer PVT because downed or dead DPS is no DPS at all. Having to constant pick up other group members that get downed because they’re 6/6 berserker and have no health or defense also stops my DPS. Having a Warrior healing the group with shouts can keep the other 4 up to put out max DPS too.
For something to do when you already have everything else done?
If you dont’ want them dont’ go get them.
I don’t see the Ooze room as challenging, just gimmicky. We beat it pretty quick but…ugh. It makes me want to not ever go back.
Come on, escort missions are bad design 101, and escort missions of an ENEMY THAT YOU CAN DAMAGE?
We had to kick two people yesterday because they wouldn’t stop insulting one of the other party members and just being kitten in general. We let it slide for most of the fractal, but when we got near jade maw they got worse and started to really lay it on.
I don’t think they noticed 3 of us were in the same guild?
So yeah, sometimes kicking is pretty deserved.
HOWEVER, my main complaint for the entire path is that it HARDCORE punishes melee, especially the final boss (toss) and the charr boss (spin/axe toss).
For the final boss, if you stay in melee then he does not throw the blades of death, making the fight easier and quicker.
Sort of? Or you can stay as a group of 5, avoid the blades when they come down and move to another spot, controlling where he throw them and taking 0 damage, rather than getting melee pounded.
So, here it is. Your chance to defend healing signet. I find this skill to be the most ridiculous skill in the game, yet warriors claim its necessary and not unbalanced.
Lets look at the base stats for warrior’s healing signet, keeping in mind that the warrior has the highest base toughness and health pool in the game.
Healing signet (pve): Base 392 health per second with a .05 healing power modifier.
Healing signet (pvp): same thing. Now lets look at the elementalist, the class with the lowest base toughness and hp pool in the game:
Signet of Restoration: 202 base health per cast with a healing modifier of .1.
Signet of Restoration (PVP): 168 base health per cast with a healing modifier of .08.I just don’t see how you can justify this healing signet. It’s almost twice as good as the elementalist’s signet for base passive healing. It is also PER SECOND. That means when your running away, casting a long skill, or blocking using the endure pain, your still gaining health…
Feel free to defend or berate this healing signet. I’m curious to hear the arguments for and against it.
Elementalists have water fields and the blast finishers to pop them.
Boom, argument over.
You CANNOT compare two abilities in a vacuum, classes are designed AS A WHOLE.
I like that they gated the encounters/stuff so that I won’t have to deal with OMG SPEED RUN FASTER YOU kitten when I want to go at a steady pass and not skip every single trash mob.
I feel like the dungeon isn’t too ‘hard’, just that it requires all 5 party members to be good and decently coordinated. And in an MMO with pugs, that’s asking a lot.
Thanks for the tip. We used this method and it worked. Now we just have to get past Slick and Sparki. They’re doable, we had Slick almost down, but failed many times and it was getting late so we decided to try later.
Kill Sparki (The dredge suit) first. It mades the fight a lot easier.
Oozes are immune to CC but the lava elementals aren’t so AoE KBs work to control what you want, also use Feedback or any reflect/absorb projectile skill as all the lava attacks are projectiles… Anyone who asks for nerfs already but didn’t notice these ways to do the encounter should think/try things before complaining.
Oozes certainly aren’t immune to CC. They get both immobilized and feared at least.
And yes, the encounter should be fixed. It’s bad game design. We got through it but it was a frustrating and annoying experience.
I didn’t mind the bosses, but the leading the ooze room is terrible terrible game design. It’s too rewarding for some classes/specs, and punishing for others. Make the Ooze an allied unit so that players can’t damage it.
First boss – Went fine, we wiped once because we attacked the oil dude first, where killing the girl in the dredge suit first takes like seconds and makes the fight much easier.
Puzzle was fine, though It’d be nice if they actually gave you some kind of hint instead of just FIGURE IT OUT!
The Charr commander was really easy as long as you don’t stand next to him.
The holos were pretty easy, my one complaint is they can really mess with your camera if you get too close.
Last boss we wiped probably 5 times, but that was because two of our members just could not figure out how to drag the boss to the holo or the holo to the boss, so they’d get aggro and we’d wipe. (Also, Warrior OP for this encounter, endure pain + dolyak signet means you can ignore his super power stomp if he does get to that stage)
HOWEVER, my main complaint for the entire path is that it HARDCORE punishes melee, especially the final boss (toss) and the charr boss (spin/axe toss). Way too many anti melee mechanics, while ranged weapons can just sit back and plink plink. While everyone should use a ranged weapon, it’s still annoying that melee weapons are at such a huge disadvantage.
I want to like conditions, but on a LOT of content they’re just horrible. Too many condition immune things, or stacks maxing out because of other players.
I dropped out for 9 months, came back and picked it up like it was yesterday. So I’m thinking this is a “you” problem and not a game problem.
There’s so many afk’s and leechers that his HP never even leaves 99% in Overflows. Hell even on the main it doesn’t usually go below 80%
I absolutely love conditions, but they’re totally useless on any content with more than 3 people.
There isn’t anything BUT casual content in this game. Come on people, seriously.
It doesn’t go far enough.
This is like, the most casual MMO to ever exist. So yeah, I’d say they delivered.
This thing is more casual than Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
Go on. I would like to subscribe to your manifesto.
So are gadgets officially “fixed”? A few pathes ago people were asking why they even exist, asking them to work like Signets. Now Gadgets are good?
They buffed some of them. The change to make rocket boots not CC the crap out of you is nice. Though I wish it was targetted like Jump Shot. (It actually might be? I haven’t tested it yet)
No mention of the amazing PBR? Realz? Short CD, good damage and cripple toolbelt, and a short CD blowout? I prefer it over slick shoes tbh.
When you said you killed things fast as or faster with flamethrower, I kind of disregarded everything you said.
Engineer has tons of options!
Almost all of them are bad! Some being less worse than others doesn’t really mean much.
I love playing engineer, but every build of engineer is weaker than builds of other classes.
It’s nice to open my utilities menu and see 5 useless skills there.
Profession Balance: (Obviously every profession could use bug fixes and tweaks)
Guardian: Very Strong
Elementalist: Strong
Thief: Slightly Strong
Mesmer: Balanced
Necromancer: Balanced
Ranger: Balanced
Warrior: Slightly Weak
Engineer: WeakYou can’t base your perception of balance on your experience as a necro only. It is irrelevant how many QP you got, if you only play 1-2 professions you can’t possibly understand what’s balanced or not. I regularly play 5 profs (keep one slot for tryouts) and still i feel there’s more i needed to learn from prof X or Y. The classes i play most are Ranger, Mesmer and Elementalist (kinda been slacking on my guardian and thief lately). I must say, i strongly disagree with your acessment. This is my opinion:
Mesmer: VERY strong.
Yes, i used caps there on purpose. Anyone that does not see this as the very best prof needs to properly play one. In the hands of a good PvPer – and i think of myself as one, with over 17 years of PvP on all genres on my belt – it’s a mean killing machine. And support machine. And escape artist. So powerful it hurts.
Guardian: Very Strong
Not a mesmer, but still a very powerful profession with a wide range of viable specs.
Thief: Very Strong
Properly played thieves are not only very dangerous finishers with huge burst but also amazing at evading/harassing and closing distances aswell as very good stompers and rezzers. Anyone that thinks they’re not top notch needs some serious lessons on combat dynamics.
Elementalist: Strong
While the Ele bunker specs (and downed state) are a bit too strong at the moment they do tend to be dead rather quickly when specced otherwise. Can be deadly vs some combos but facing a player that knows the class they can be easy prey as DPS. Hybrid specs can be a real menace in the right hands though.
Necromancer: Balanced
Necros still have some issues that need to be addressed but overall it’s a class that’s very close to being balanced.
Ranger: Balanced
Before the latest patch i’d disagree but from my experience since the 14th the Ranger has indeed been buffed to a point that i’d say it’s close to being balanced. A lot of issues still with pet pathing, bugged abilities and perhaps the class that needs the more focus to play and be successful with as pure DPS.
Warrior: Wouldn’t call it weak, but a bit limited at the moment. Their ability to quickly shift the weight of battles can be decisive when played properly but i’ll admit, could do with a bit more variety.
Engineer: Since the latest patch i’ve faced some really dangerous Engis and since i don’t play the class, i’ll leave it to whoever does to judge.
Considering last patch was mostly major nerfs for engi, I doubt that.
EG is dead. Dedicating a utility slot for it post patch is not worth it, even with Kit refinement.
The e-gun nerf is enough to make me fully switch to my guardian. Engineer just feels too weak with too few options now. None of the kits are worth using long term. Grenades are still good, but I’ve always hated grenades because it is so much work to spam and aim them. E-gun nerf to 5 makes it a mostly pointless kit. Bombs still feel meh.
Yeah this patch made me quit Engi.
It’s not the whole kit. Just 1.
Afaik they only nerfed the damage of the 1 skill on nade by 30%? Not the whole kit. They also added damage to blind nade.
I can see just being boosted to 3 stacks, which will be lame.
How would that be lame!?
Elixir H + Elixir B, Add in enhanced performance
Elixir B – 4 stacks
Elixir H – 6 stacks
Throw B – 3-4 stacks
Throw H – 1 stack
So that’s 14-15 stacks of might, that you can keep up indefinitely if you use a triple might duration rune setup.
Combine that with Bomb Kit, and P/S and that’s another 6 stacks to add
You could keep yourself at 20-21 stacks of might, ALWAYS ON, by yourself.
Or 700 power/condition.
