I enjoy SPvP, though it could be improved, but WvW is a huge disappointment for me. Massive zerging is too rewarding and being dedicated to WvW gives out very little.
Also, some simple annoyances like cannon users being killed due to AoE spam, making cannons near useless against a group for defense. Burning Oil not insta killing players considering how limited it is(you have no excuse to be hit by it). My best moments was SM before they moved the lord. That required more than just zerging, against a good world.
Overall it’s just too mindless and tactics do not play a strong enough role. My issues will probably be fixed when they release the WvW patch. Then hopefully my guild comes back.
QFT. Warrior is fine. People need to learn to man up and learn to play their class. I have 5 lvl 80’s (warrior, guardian, mesmer, thief, and necromancer), and so far warrior is my second favorite class right after mesmer.
Yes because being 80 actually means something when everyone is 80 in PvP.
The amount of builds and weapon combos is nearly unparalleled. .
I was about to comment on this but then noticed you didn’t say the builds were effective.
Here’s your reality check: GS + x/shield or gtfo. Everything else falls shorter than our current best that isn’t even top tier ready.
PvE is not to be talked about when it comes to balance. Yes, WvW = PvE also. We’re all beastly PvE heros and WvW zerglings I’m sure.
I would like if they work on something other than Greatsword. I want the Sword to be better for condition bursting, but Axe would be ok too.
We have a lot of options that should be prioritized over Greatsword.
^Too bad for you Anet has accepted the way TPvP is played. Bunkers will remain, so get used to it. Stacking bunkers is also a very stupid idea.
Also, Players enjoy bunkers because that is their playstyle. I have been a tank since the start of my (MMO)RPG career. Regardless of the game I lean towards a tank style character. I find DPS and big numbers very boring if I can’t stand in front of a threat.
It has nothing to do with covering up bad skills. The Holy Trinity will always reach out and touch the hearts of rpg players. It doesn’t matter how much a company tries to hide it.
Either way, you are missing the point completely.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
GS glass cannon is our best build. If it is not top tier ready then warrior is not in a good spot. Our BEST is easily avoidable by anyone that knows how to play the game… That’s just about greatsword and says a lot about our other builds, which doesn’t come close to GS glass cannon.
Again, how can ANYONE defend the class as if it’s the best and this is just common forum crying?
You don’t have to agree with me on how bad the class is. However, everyone should be able to agree that the warrior is NOT in a good spot by now.

@18:30 onward
enjoy.
I have linked this video plenty of times already…
1 sec
This isn’t about xyz class beat me up and I can’t do anything. Every build has a hard counter(note: build, not class). It’s about the flaws that holds this class back. The idiots that yell “learn to play” are just that… No matter how “L33T” you are you can’t change the flaws unless you are hacking the game. I’m not in the mood to re-write our obvious flaws but…
1) Please show me your leet warrior skills in high tier TPvP where you are a non GS wielder. Let me see a condition build or a bunker. I would also like to see some of the 2/3 ignored utilities being used. Let me see your vids please. A noob like me could use the help.
2) Show me a video where an Anet Dev laughs at another classes best build.
The ones behind the scenes know warrior is a joke, but are confused on how to fix it. How can ANYONE still defend the class? You are clearly being biased.
We should all be giving suggestions to help get this class on the right track.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
A class should be able to work on it’s own it shouldn’t require other classes just support it just to be worth anything.
You mean like 7/8 classes can? No, sir…You are clearly wrong. Other classes are just OP and we are in a great spot right now. We should all have babysitters to help clean up our poopy. I refuse to be able to stand up on my own feet and be self reliable.
I’m so bored with seeing all these useless warrior videos as if they do something amazing. They are usually warriors in TPvP against terrible teams that don’t know what CC is. Which is funny because usually the warrior is able to run away then come back hitting the same fools again. Lets just ignore the truck that I was too blind to dodge/cc/condition burst/etc during the ENTIRE match…. You would think these warriors were ninjas or something.
It’s not a META build. It’s the same old clone almost every warrior uses. It’s the build some players are trying their hardest to make work. Even though it would be much better for the team if they would just re-roll and apply the same amount of dedication on another class.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
You didn’t know? All the best warriors have babysitters bro. /sarcasm off
I said warrior was the only class that relied so heavily on another player, in one of my first posts. I guess it was working as intended.
I think the main argument here is what is the point of having all of these, utilities, weapons, and traits if we cant use them because were are forced to dump massive amounts of points into a traitline that is mostly worthless just to have subpar condition removal and and healing to use weapons like warhorns or be forced into builds with specif runes. No others profession has to do this.
BINGO!!!! We have a winner here folks!
What you guys are advocating is putting a bandaid on a wound not actually healing it. And because its a bandaid you are hindered as a profession. I personally don’t want to be forced to play a certain way just becasue the profession is broken.
Which is why I say they’re delusional. Every suggestion forces you to play a certain way. This is only class that is forced to used certain runes, traits, and utilities just to try and be competitive. Lets just ignore all these utilities, weapons, and traits that are completely worthless. Just be happy with our few useful ones…
We’re supposed to rise up and overcome this gaping hole in our chest and not look for medical attention.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
^Dude, it’s a waste of time. Just forget about the warrior and play something else(or not take it seriously). Way too many good warriors left and now most of the delusional ones remain. So now we look like the crazy ones. Regardless of how detailed we write a post and compare it to every other class.
Personally, I’m tired of all this kitten. It’s meaningless to point out all these flaws just to have Anet laugh and still do nothing. I’m done doing this back and forth with players that think seeking improvements for a broken structure is “crying”.
Either Anet clean up their junk or they continue the lolwarrior era.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
We are Warriors, are we not? When doom and defeat rears its repugnant head, we stand ready to slam our armoured fists into it!
No…Warriors were trained in both offense and defensive tactics. Being a warrior means to be a complete fighter. These “warriors” are far from complete. They just hurr durr their troll blades around hoping they don’t get breathed on. Other builds are not even that useful. They fall short compared to every other class in the game. These are not “warriors”. The guy wearing a T-Shirt is more battle ready than these chumps.
And I thought this section was for Warriors, not BABIES who’d rather kiss up to some tree-hugger and compare the two! If you’d rather go play a Ranger then do it already, then there’s less of you to cramp up text room…
You can compare Warrior to any class you wish, the facts still remain.
and second-guess our investments that will, no doubt, sooner or later become worthwhile.
Lmao this is pure gold. So pretend everything is great and provide no useful feedback?
Side note: Anet is stopping the swapping of builds. This will hurt the warrior even more. A good warrior is constantly changing his/her setup. We don’t have the luxury to set a build in stone, like every other class.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
There are more than enough posts to back up his one liner. However, you can always watch the video where we get laughed at by a Anet dev and the “pro” players.
Enjoy.

@Faranox
I like the do good damage in a “sturdy body” part. Also:
Going forward
Tank vs spike vs physical DPS vs condie DPS. We want to keep making balance changes that allow all classes to have various builds they can use. We don’t want tanks dominating the game, and we don’t want spike builds dominating. It’s healthy to have multiple types of builds in the meta, so we’ll be improving the balance to facilitate a healthy meta.
^I guess going forward that doesn’t apply to Warrior.
side note: Can I get a D/D Ele babysitter please? I want to tank just like him when I grow up.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
I swear you guys with all your delusions are so funny. Warrior is “solid”, in a “good” spot overall, and blah blah blah <insert another delusion here>.
You are now officially the worst class in the game. Ranger can bunker better and kite the hell out of you even easier now.
How can you be satisfied with such poor class design? Do I need to go down the list of how flawed we are? How those flaws hold us back more than any other class? It would be a lot of typing, but maybe you guys need a dose of reality.
This is officially the lolwarrior era.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
There is no way to “make it work”. Unless you mean just deal with being subpar. Most paths lead to a dead end that falls shorter than the tried and true GS + x/shield. This flawed Warrior design diminishes the classes potential greatly. Our best shot is still the above setup and if anything the patch made it even better. 20% more damage under 25%hp. Fury and vigor once lost 10% hp in one strike. Both of which can help a GS glass cannon build variation.
Anet accepted the META, yet still gives warrior nothing to help boost its survival. They nerfed a tier 2(minor! yes minor!) mesmer skill and it’s still better than BOTH of our tier 3(major!) defense skills.
Illusionary Membrane: Gain protection for 3 seconds when you gain regeneration. 15 sec cd.
Do you know how useful banners would be if we had a trait like the above? Still no adjustment to adrenal health. They can make it pop like a normal regen, instead of being 3x slower. Healing signet is still all round bad. It’s still the worst healing signet compared to the others. These are small tweaks that would go a long way.
Fact is we just don’t have “it”. EVERY road with potential is held back by our lack of. I would just love to be in the room with the balancing team. I really want to know what is said every time they bring up the warrior, besides their laughing. Is there any real thought being put into helping the class? Maybe they are just big number style players and that’s all they care about.
All a warrior can do is deal with it. However, it’s delusional to think you can “make it work” or that you’ll find some hidden gem of awesome.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
Yeh. I dont understand though. I thought lyssa already gave protection and retaliation? Did it not? If so was that a bug? Or do you get these when you use your heal?
Well you did get them for the elite. I’m not sure about the heal pre-patch.
Rune of Lyssa combined with Signet mastery is actually useful now. Before it was on about a 60 sec cd. So signet of mastery didn’t synergize well with it(using signet elite). Now you can get a full cleanse every 48 secs, plus the nice buffs.
However, it seems to be a bit bugged. Sometimes attacking right after you activate elite will not activate runes. It’s not game breaking like the pre-patch fast hands. However, it does happen.
sigils work with banners now, just by picking them up.
I’m not understanding the healing surge change. I haven’t noticed a difference in game.
If p2p MMOs have a hard time dying, GW2 will not be dying anytime soon. However, the game is not doing great. A lot of the major guilds are pretty much gone. A lot of playes in general barely log on. The game just lacks so much depth and is way too casual. So it’s treated as such or pushed to the side.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
They might release it during reset. They changed WvW for Halloween, so they might do the same for this holiday.
I’m not happy with GW2 for a lot of reasons. However, I’m not going to compare previous years to downgrade aka hate on GW2.
They won just like any other title before them, so it was well deserved. Congratz on the award Anet.
1) You can make anything work in PvE/WvW
2) In SPvP use GS + x/shield or reroll.
This exact thought popped into my head while I was playing EVE. Not about ranger, but about synergy. Only the greatsword really flows nicely, especially when combined with x/shield.
PvE Heroes and WvW zerglings pick up the class and think how great it is. However, anyone that does their unbiased testing in SPvP knows how flawed and behind the class is. Building/tweaking warrior so much just lead me to one simple conclusion in the end. We just don’t have it. Synergy is what it all comes down to in the end. The bad traits, weapon designs, and etc all lead to warrior having bad synergy.
If you look at EVERY other classes weapons, utilities, and traits you can see how everything just flows nicely. You’re not forced to pretend your build is viable just because you can beat the brainless AI or because the zerg covers your kitten . It’s actually useful and works in a contained testing environment(i.e. S/TPvP).
The fact that a Dev couldn’t hold back his laughter, while talking about warrior, says a lot to me. Not that I needed him to, as I have already put my own work in. Now note, he laughed about GS and that’s our best weapon overall… Everything else is just “ARGGH me smash 1 until keyboard breaks!” No other weapon, for warrior, is as well put together as a greatsword. We are versatile in weapons yet EVERY other class use their weapons more effectively/fluently… We have the most armour and hp yet ALL other classes have better bunkering potential.
Warrior is a joke and should be laughed at. That was one of my first posts on these forums and now I see I’m sharing that laugh with Anet. When I come back to playing GW2 more heavily, I’ll probably be getting rid of my warrior as well. Anet balancing philosophy has me doubting that the much needed improvements will happen(anytime soon). Warrior will probably still be struggling to compete. Being the greatest 7/10 one can be.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
WvW in a nutshell: Zerg it real good!
Classes do not matter in WvW. Only +1… If Anet adds more depth to WvW, then more factors will outweigh the current +1 focus.
@Mik Hell
Most eles spam a lot of abilities before they realize they are killing themselves. They do a lot of damage to themselves in the process. Especially if the mesmer is good at stacking confusion.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
Hopefully in 2 days Anet gets the Warrior on the right path.
Feeling of accomplishment starts to mean little when you have empty pockets and nothing to show for it. Even athletes have trophies as proof of their hard work. WvW is far too casual of an experience. My guild and I went hardcore since launch and now our numbers dwindle because of this. About 1000+ players(created multiple guilds) and now I barely see 20 online at once. There is not enough depth in strategy and no rewards for putting long hours into a match.
The ONLY difference between server tiers is the increase of the zerg size and night coverage. Zerg > All strategy you can think of. SM was the hardest place to just zerg, but even that is casual now(change of lord position).
Golem rushes, Catapult wall chewing, Ram blitzes all make zergs far too efficient. Not to mention a zerg makes cannons and burning oil completely useless. Why isn’t burning oil instant kill? Why are cannon users not protected from AoE Spam? If Anet slowed down zergs, they would become less efficient. This is all just the tip of the iceberg though.
They promoted WvW as if it was a main focus. However, you start to realize it’s not something you can take seriously currently. The culling issue makes matters even worst.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
Should I stick with shouts or go banners?
Shoulkitten e p the 20 points in strength or put them in arms and discipline for more crit chance.
1) Shouts vs Banners depends on the situation and flow of battle. If need “gap fillers” go for banners. If you need burst heals to help mitigate some hard hits, then go shouts(or maybe the extra condition removal). You will find shout healing have more uses, but banners can come in handy also.
2) I prefer 20 in arms, but I use sword most of the time. I prefer the crit chance and the condition boost I see as a bonus.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
HP is the biggest troll in the game. It means very little when it comes to tanking. If a guardian can not live longer than a warrior, then that guardian is terrible at his/her class. Toughness also means little in gw2 for tanking.
What makes a “tank” in this game is good support/mitigation. Something a warrior has very little of. Damage > Toughness in scaling, so having high toughness means nothing after a point(close to 3k). Which will stop things from breathing on you just to kill you. However, you still will not be a “tank” with just that.
Until our trees/traits get fixed this will always be the case. You can only become a solid Warrior currently. This is PvE so it can be pulled off and is viable, but not on the level of a good guardian.
As others have stated. Allow the elite slot to be able to choose any of the utilities. Most elites are very trash and makes builds feel incomplete. Anet needs to give more control to the player for builds. This would be a step in that direction.
In my opinion x/Longbow makes the warrior very enjoyable. Being able to self combo breaks up the, sometimes, stale moments for this class. I feel Longbow should be buffed with 1-2 more AoE fields as normal abilities. At least give us access to more AoE fields through other means. That can synergize well and still fits a warrior.
Self combos are very fun to pull off and puts more rhythm into an otherwise straightforward class.
triple swap is nice to have. and maybe something like dual wielding two handed weapons for a 30 or 25 points trait line. except for rifles and bows. nothing says weapon master like carrying two greatswords or hammers.
I don’t see either happening without a serious overhaul of the class. Just unlocking a third set for use would probably be too much. The core of the game wasn’t designed with that in mind. It’s not a simple change.
Duel wielding 2h would be great, but also a core game change. I see it being too little of a difference or too big of a difference. How would it differ from the current, single, GS/Hammer style? Duel Wielding(and weapons in general) plays a more complex role in GW 2 than a 5%-10% damage increase. It would only get worse when Anet adds 2h axe.
A future class built around the concept, probably, but not any of the current ones. According to Anet they don’t do major changes, but instead small gradual ones. This would take a long time to get everything in place.
I agree completely. I would like to see these changes.
It’s a terrible trait and should never be used. The minor, almost placebo effect, change isn’t worth it.
I wrote a lot more and in detail, but I cut it down to this:
You are taking the skill it requires to be an effective warrior glass cannon and placing it all on luck. This glass cannon build completely relies on how bad the other player is. You have nothing to effectively close gaps, have the lowest damage mitigation possible(for a glass cannon), and a higher TTK than your typical glass cannon due to no frenzy. You also have an off hand axe that does nothing to boost your dps. On top of all that you have no effective condition removal.
How do you plan on killing someone if you don’t have the tools to do it? Again, you stack too many negative variables against yourself.
It’s far from hating on you or your build. It just won’t work effectively in a skilled environment. You just make it easier for your opponent than any other typical warrior build.
I would have never posted on this build if it was for anything other than SPvP. As it could be pulled off in WvW/PvE. However, this is the noob smasher of all the noob smashing builds for SPvP. Anyone you kill with this build gives you the right to say “L2p”.
-Note: I’m not trying to be offensive, just being honest about the setup.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
^Exactly this.
It’s even worst that you’re a full glass cannon. You’re offering your life to almost everybody on a silver platter. You might get away with this on some brain dead noobs(The REALLY bad players). However, I guarantee this wouldn’t last long against a mediocre, at best, player.
You effectively took our class weaknesses and enhanced them. While also lowering your damage.
1) Our bad damage mitigation is worst, in this setup
2) Kiting is even easier, for the enemy.
3) /Axe is very terrible at doing damage. It’s a complete waste of a slot.
4) Nothing effective to get rid of conditions. SOS will NOT do much for you.
Number 1 is going to happen for any glass cannon, but this is why the greatsword is always involved. It allows you to close gaps and even be invulnerable during whirlwind.
You also do no have a shield. This means you are welcoming almost every attack someone throws at you. So you have the shortest life expectancy of any glass cannon build on the battlefield. Killing players falls more on luck than actual skill in this build.
Summary: You are hurting yourself more than the typical GS + x/shield glass cannon. You are stacking almost every negative variable against yourself. The only thing you have is high damage that counts on luck to kill someone with it.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
It’s a pointless feature. Having options just to have them creates pointless options. So they aren’t really options. Why have an ability that saves you from not having to go through the full duration? It’s not like it lasts for 30 seconds.
How many battle situations, that you find yourself in, that makes you feel you should cancel a damage mitigation for 3 strikes of adrenaline? Being more or less of a blocker than guardian is irrelevant. There are plenty of abilities that can replace the current useless ones.
There should be no situation where you need 3 strikes of adrenaline over a damage mitigation. They need to remove them or replace them.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
It’s another questionable design choice forced on the Warrior. While mesmers can decide to cancel their block/clone for a piercing daze blast. We cancel a block for about 3 srikes of adrenaline. The small adrenaline boost is not needed and offers nothing to think about.
Canceling a damage mitigation for this small, unneeded, gain is a terrible decision. We are not exactly lacking in Adrenaline+ abilities. Though we are severely lacking in proper damage mitigation.
I would love it if Anet examines the warrior, strip the class down, and then rebuild it with a more solid focus. They clearly learned a lot about class development when working on the other classes. Warrior just seemed to have missed that next stage of development.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
Akumu do you teach mentally disabled children in real life?
Teach? No
I occasionally worked with them when I was younger. Like a part time job, with my mother. Why?
^
You don’t need a Sword if you know how to use Blade Trail in aiding your escape. And its just as bad if a Thief has no Shadow Step (which can be god easy to force out) because their incentive to kill is even lower since no shadow-step = random CC kittens you over. Not to mention you become even easier to focus with NO shadow step.Mace doesn’t “lessen” your DPS at all. Did you want me to show you how DPS is still stupidly high in-game even if I went Mace? Add me in-game, unless you’re scared to be proven wrong then don’t add me. I’ll say it again, you’re not the only one who can make use of stuns because OTHER characters can make hella use of stuns too. Also.. ever heard of catching people in the end of the dodge with Shield Bash? It isn’t exactly hard.
Yes, I know that mace damage is high when you hit someone. However, You can dodge mace with regular movement, without dodge. The slow swings create more negative variables. This is how someone can lower your dps.
Also, lets not pretend that other classes do not have stunbreakers or other more useful consistent skills. We’re not talking Thief vs Warrior in a 1v1. We are talking about resetting. If you popped your bulls charge to escape a fight, and someone catches up to you, shield bash won’t guarantee you’ll stun someone effectively(after they dodge). Even then what are the chances you would have frenzy off of CD? Most resets don’t happen soon as you enter the fight. It’s usually something you do if you weren’t able to get the kill and are starting to be focused down. A thief has the shortbow and stealth. Shortbow has no cd, while stealth shouldn’t be on cd. They can reset and go back to picking off targets faster.
Not to mention with frenzy you leave yourself open to 50% more damage. Only way to counter this is endure pain. So if you do have to reset, you force yourself to be left with no utilities. All of this also means using bull charge to escape won’t always be an option. Just use bladetrail/whirlwind? Ok, but again you wouldn’t be able to reset quickly. All of your abilities would be on cd. If you can’t come back and roflstomp asap, this forces your party to pull your weight. You might as well be dead.
As for the invitation to fight 1v1, no I’m not scared(it’s a game…).
But, I refuse to take my Warrior to SPvP after doing so much testing. I’ve have always hated glass cannon classes and refuse to be forced to play one in gw2. I always play heavy armour classes in a MMO for a reason.
I’ll re-create my Ele or bring my tanking Mesmer(no staff or greatsword). Since you hate mesmer so much you would probably ask for the former. Other than that, nope. I don’t find the other classes entertaining enough, to practice with, during my time.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
The ability to reset isn’t even that hard. You can use Bulls Charge to escape if you aren’t bad. Only time you ever use Bulls Charge + Frenzy is if you’re sure you’re going to get a kill. And I like to wear people down with Mace + Shield and GS which is why I have no problem with resetting the fight. Lower damage when wielding mace is counter productive to a glass cannon.
Only thing viable that CAN’T reset is Axe + Mace and Mace + Shield. Rifle + GS has a very easy time doing that too, just that the only time you ever do Rifle + GS is if you’re up against squishies with high DPS.
It may not be hard to reset that way for you. However, you increase the variables against you. Using bulls charge lessens your ability to kill. This forces you to rely on your team even more. Mace + Shield gives you more CC but you lessen your damage output considerably. You can dodge mace attacks by regular movement.
Also, a warriors way of resetting hurts the party more. Why? again, you can’t teleport back(quick reset) or even stealth for the surprise attack. You have to run all the way back to them and hope they are foolish enough to be re-attacked by you. At less strength due to long cds. That’s if some of the better roamers don’t catch and kill you. Not having a sword lowers your chances for a successful escape.
Being a warrior glass cannon isn’t the best choice in a 1v1, especially while lacking key abilities. Using utilities hurt warriors more than any other class due to high cd and bad self support.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
Dedication with a Thief when random crowd control is annoying to deal with.. you honestly think its that easy to play Thief? Try paids and come back to the Thief population imo.
That easy? no
Thieves/Warriors are about the same when it comes to their burst builds. However there is a difference.
The ability to reset.
^The above is something a Warrior can not do as easily. Once a warrior enters a fight he is there to live or die. There is no resetting a fight. You don’t own a shortbow that teleports you out of a red zone. You don’t have stealth to attempt to avoid direct damage. You’re best shot is a 5 second duration ability on a 90 second cooldown.
This is why the thief still outshines the warrior in equally skilled/dedicated hands. They fair about the same yet one still brings more. They bring more chances of survival for a glass cannon.
The problem I’m seeing in this thread is this viable/unviable debate. Warriors have ALWAYS been viable. Being a GS glass cannon still makes you a thief without stealth. Your team still have to make up for the hassle you bring to each match.
If a warrior just catches you with a GS rush(while you’re aware of him) then that means you need to brush up on your skills. I don’t care how “pro” your guild is supposed to be. Your accomplishments from a previous game(s) does not carry over to the next.
Can a dedicated team win games, if they work hard enough to counter a Warrior’s negatives? Yes
That dedication still doesn’t wash away 2/3 bad traits, lack of effective self support, bad tree traits/design, terrible burst skills, and clear advantages a few weapons have over the majority.
I would love to see such dedication put into a mesmer or thief. You would bring more flexibility to your team with less hassle.
@OP
That’s because the longer a warrior stays in a fight, the more he increases his chances of death. We are too flawed to fill the other roles. We just don’t have the tools at our disposal to be effective. Pure damage is the only thing we are truly good at.
(edited by Akumu.7238)
Our class mechanic just feels like an “in development” idea. We’re supposed to build up adrenaline for a “burst”, yet most don’t even make a lasting impact. If you get hit by a full 100b, that leaves a lasting impact on your opponent. It gets them to panic a little after their hp gets chewed down. The player knows they have to regain control of the fight.
Currently, most just feel like a normal 6th weapon ability. They should be deadly finishers(or openers). I think the warrior could use a class mechanic that other players will need to watch out for.
1) Thieves: Steal can be pretty dangerous if traited, not to mention their weapons are tied to their mechanic(Initiative). They have some VERY useful weapon abilities. Also, lets not forget about stealth.
2) Mesmers: Clones/Phantasms. You can’t just ignore them. It’s sometimes best to try and damage them while still targeting the real one. Even then they can explode and apply conditions on you.
3) Necro: 2+ life bars? Yes, please. This can be a real pain when fighting a good necro.
4) Elementalist: Attunements can’t be countered, but paying attention to them helps you get ready for possible attacks/abilities. Provide nice buffs and AoE effects when traited.
5) Engineer: Depending on the engineer setup, their mechanic can also make an impact. I really hate it when they can self rez themselves. Engie can be very annoying to try to counter/control.
6) Guardian: The passives/actives are nice, and only get better with traits. They keep the player alive longer or push out some nice condition damage. Either way they really aid the player very effectively.
7) Ranger: Their pets can be annoying in small scale battles. However, they are our brothers in broken arms. Warrior/Ranger players both understand the pain of being at the bottom.
8) Warriors: I seriously don’t see ANY of our bursts as a threat, when I face a fellow warrior. Players complain about kill shot but I don’t see why. We are yelling at you to dodge. We just laugh at you when you don’t listen.
^The above is a problem. We have a class mechanic that makes almost no impression on the battlefield, when compared to 6/8 other classes. Whatever they do about the small 3% increase. I hope they fix the entire mechanic as well.
TL;DR- Bursts(especially for melee) should be hard hitting finishers/openers with a cd increase to balance it. Our class mechanic does not make a big enough impact on the battlefield. They are too spammable and weak.

You realize that this is because Warriors have the most working traits, and the most viable builds, right? Rangers, along with many of the other classes, have a lot more bugs and issues than Warriors.
1) Yes, we are so lucky to have so many working traits that, for the most part, are terrible.
2) We have the most viable builds? You can’t be serious….You must be WvW/PvE only.
3) So every other class have more bugs and issues? Once all their bugs/issues are fixed I guess the lolwarrior era will be official.
4) This is the warrior section…Go vent in your profession of choice section.

Which is why I’ve said before, and still maintain that the biggest issue with warriors is a “vanilla” factor. When using the warrior as a baseline the other classes got similar abilities in function, only improved and spiced up. So while the vanilla cone is an ok treat, it’s pretty bland compared to the triple chocolate fudge with caramel, marshmallow and peanutbutter ice cream sunday sitting next to it…. being spoonfed to you by a topless college cheerleader.
But what if I think that the triple chocolate fudge with caramel, marshmallow and peanutbutter ice cream sunday is too sweet and a topless college cheerleader would just detract from the eating?
I like vanilla ice cream.
We have to put in insane amounts of effort to be competitive. No matter how skilled you become at working around its flaws, they still haunt you. You can’t get around 2/3 bad utilities, the terrible high tier traits, and questionable tree design.
I like Vanilla Ice Cream too. I just prefer to not be subjected to the cheap brand. Keep the flavor, but at least improve the quality.
