It’s just another example of how not having the Holy Trinity is overrated. Otherwise our defense and healing would actually matter on the battlefield.

I don’t think it’s a bug, iirc the tip says the attack only retaliates if in melee range.

Ok then the bug is when it doesn’t reflect the entire duration lol. Sometimes it will reflect for the duration, but others it won’t. Regardless of the distance of the target.

I saw lot of people going back to WoW which they despise only because GW2 is not showing any improvement in WvW and they rather PvE in a good old fashion game than WvW in the current state.

Exactly this…So many players I know(guilds/friends/etc) went back to WoW ONLY because Anet fails to deliver with WvW. It’s kind of sad that every MMO after WoW almost forces you to go back.

WvW is way too casual as it is now. There is NOTHING hardcore about WvW. It has no depth, very little strategy, and the rewards pale in comparison to PvE. Zerging is way too effective and not frowned upon enough.

The most strategic moments was EB in SM, before the lord was moved. It took strategy to take SM. Now even that is more casual…You either are steamrolling over everything, or being steamrolled.

1) Siege Equipment AoE should be uncapped.

2)Burning Oil should be insta death(you have no excuse for being hit by this..).

3)Cannons need a better way to defend from being AoE spammed(at least protect the user, same goes for oil). Maybe increase hp a bit also.

4)There needs to be a cap on the amount of siege that can affect a door/wall. That slows golem rushes, catapult wall chewing, or a ram blitz(which favors a zerg).

5)Doors/Walls should NOT be repaired after taking over a settlement.

6)Better rewards for Defenders. This would have more players want to defend.

Basically, anything that slows down a zerg. Currently a zerg can sweep through areas too quickly. This can dumb the game down a lot when the good zerg herding commanders are online. A massive slow zerg becomes useless(they must be time efficient), so this would create more importance on smaller tactical groups(not 50+ member roflstomp ones).

Yes, it applies to the sword. There is also a bug that will allow you to keep reflecting projectiles for the entire duration. Instead of just reflecting one.

We can only pick 3. All utilities should be effective at their design. Signets should be something you have to think about before using. This one is only good for stability, but it’s worst than balanced stance(longer cd and no stun break). It’s almost completely useless.

Signet of Judgement has an Active and Passive that is effective for reducing damage yet offer different pros and cons. It’s a perfect example of a solid design for a signet.

Did they directly say a warrior buff? Because we waited patch after patch for a change and all we got was underwater speargun buffs and 10% damage to lb auto attacks.

I’d prefer a direct warrior buff instead of nerfs to other classes.

edit: actually after watching the video i’m even less convinced warrior will get a buff. They admit that warrior seems OP to noobs (100b + frenzy) but is complete garbage in competitive games, and that they don’t know how to buff warrior at the top level without completely destroying the casual player base.

I don’t see any buffs coming tbh lol……..

I was happy to find out that they are aware there is a problem with the class. I’m just hoping they can find the correct solution. Their balancing policy lets me know it won’t be a massive overhaul, but I will be happy if it’s at least an effective change.

1) Rifles are better at single target damage. Bows are good for groups. PvP players will lean towards rifle due to increased projectile speed and better dps. Bow requires players to stand in the middle of the AoE to do good damage. That’s not going to happen.

2) Offhand axe is terrible. You could do better by adding anything else in that slot.

Do you think the average player has money flowing from their bum?

Sorry but that is silly.Anyone anywhere in EU/US should have £10 a month to spare, especially considering you need a pretty decent PC to run this game.Chances are you won’t miss that monthly amount too much.Successful free games with item shops nowdays actually make more money statistically, because people are too lazy/busy to farm for items therefore prefer to buy them.

The fact that most games follow that route at the moment actually proves that the average gamer has money flowing from their bum!

Would you quickly pay someone to kick you in the nuts again, after you payed them the first time? Only if you’re a masochist.

Paying for what you enjoy and paying for a previous disappointment is not the same. Though the average person makes more, that doesn’t mean prices haven’t increased for everything else. 25 cent bag of chips are now 50 cents. 50 cent items have went up to .75/1 dollar(among other increases over the years). Nobody is going to just willingly throw away money and gain nothing from it. If that was the case they would donate it to charity.

Everything you wrote was about someone paying for a service they experienced and enjoy. So why not take away from your splurge money and get a service that will guarantee happiness?

Most MMOs have far less population after a year than they do at launch, the only two MMORPGs in the West that have shown periods of long term sustained growth are EVE & WoW.

Yes, because they offered very unique experiences. Not many games can compare to the openness and sheer depth of EVE. WoW allowed casuals to enter the MMO genre without wanting to pull their own hair out. However, no MMO will ever release with the amount of content that WoW has built over the years. Players set themselves up for failure when they hype up a game expecting EVERYTHING to be in or working at 100%. The game has only been out for 3 months.

A MMO doesn’t need a constantly rising playerbase, just a strong consistent one. That’s how MMOs were developed until everyone decided they want to try and steal WoW’s playerbase.

Stop making silly assumptions, I’m not refering simply to sPvP lacking features, I’m refering to many aspects of the game that were half finished:

- Huge number of class skill / trait bugs (far more than there were when I played Rift or LOTRO at launch)
- That they have been so slow to fix the class skill / trait bugs whcih are a fundamental aspect fo the game. (again in stark contrast to the last MMORPG played – Rift who would often patch things the same day and put out multiple patches per week if it was needed)
- Zillions of DE that were bugged, for months…
- Poorly thought out design choices like orbs giving the side already on top, even more of advanatge in WvW or sticking 8 people or maps made for 5 in hot join PvP.
- Culling issues, hacking issues – especially in WvW, that again still have not been fixed.
- And yes lack of features needed to make structured PvP work, in case you haven’t noticed the population dropped through the floor, it has not been a success, for a game that promoted itself as a potential e-sport that is beyond bad.

and so on…

Again, all MMOs have their issues. Neither is perfect regardless how many years are in development. What Devs didn’t make bad design choices? Both WoW, EVE, and others have had their share. Even LOTRO went f2p and rift had to recover from heavy sub losses. Some of you need to chill. Anyone could go through MMO history and write a long list of problems a game has had, despite being a success today.

Sub is irrelevant, it isn’t a sub that stops people going back to games, most people simply don’t go back to games they have had a bad experience with.

Do you think the average player has money flowing from their bum? A sub is a gate that the average player have to think about going through. If there is no gate, there isn’t much to think about.

Yes, even games with subs have disappointed players return because of curiosity. The lack of sub just makes it easier for them to decide. So sub or no sub does have some relevance.

Are you fairly new to the MMO genre?

Are you? I ask this because there are numerous MMOs that have launched a half finished product and have paid the price for that and never recovered.

Are you serious with this one? PLENTY of MMOs have a lot more a year later, then what is released at launched. Most MMOs started off too kitten buggy to even play yet still became a success. Why do you think SWTOR was the “smoothest” launch of a MMO despite still having issues? MMO launches were horrible days in gaming.

GW2 is far from “half finished”, stop being in denial. SWTOR was/is half finished if you needed a real example. Again, Just because you are biased to one mode of content doesn’t make the others lesser in comparison. You are getting your features, so chill.

Also, it’s not difficult to get players back when there is no sub. The only thing you have left to lose is hard drive space. That’s if you even uninstalled it in the first place… All you need is curiosity to reel them in. The game doesn’t suck, it just could use more. That’s what happens during the first year of release.

I don’t wanna live a thousand years. If I just live through today, that’ll be enough.

I think they just took matchmaking for granted. I think that’s what happened.

I think they are a small company that did what they could in time. They are given money to in return make a profit from releasing a product by a certain time. MMOs are usually only in development for around 5 years. Building what’s under the hood eats up a lot of that time.

Could they have added matchmaking? sure. However, what else and how much content/features would be missing from the game to get it by release? WvW has 3/4 maps that are the same, little depth, and is a massive gold sink. Despite being heavily promoted during GW2 interviews. PvE could also have more dungeons or big raids.

All areas could have had “MOAR NAO!”, but how far could they spread thin until they completely destroyed the game. Again, they are not a massive company. Being biased to one mode of content doesn’t make the other modes a lesser priority. If this game had only SPvP to worry about then I would agree.

edit: As the above poster stated you can always just take a break. There is no sub so there is nothing “forcing” you to stay until the features are in.

I think I get what you’re saying, but for the most part I disagree. Are you fairly new to the MMO genre?

I asked this because a MMORPG is to never be truly reviewed for at least a year. While sites do it anyway, you can’t have high expectations until a year later. The first year is always the “growing” phase.

A beta is about testing. This is not about testing anything. Devs must learn their real community(not those that just pre-ordered the game), then evolve their plans to fit the communities interests. Lastly, prioritize what they have on the new list based on a number of internal factors.

People taking supply

in WvW

Posted by: Akumu.7238

Akumu.7238

This whole thread ticks me off. I’m learning how the mechanics of WvWvW works. As are, I’m sure, quite a lot of other people. If your first instinct is to insult and condemn people for doing something like this (possibly the people the op was referring to actually knew what it was they were doing) well, let’s just say no one better call ME any names in game for making a mistake or two.

You guys really need to lighten the heck up. If you want your server to work together to accomplish more, then be prepared to explain how things work to the new people. Otherwise, you’ll just drive them away and defeat yourself.

Not taking supply should ALWAYS be seen somewhere in chat. If you join WvW for the first time and get called “names”, it might be because of prolonged frustration. It is hard to care for everyone’s “feelings” after constantly typing the same sentence so many times. The longer the keep takes to upgrade, the more easier you make it for the enemy.

Just as much as old players should have arguably more patience. New players should understand that one of their mistakes might be the last straw. Even though they may not be the previous causes to get someone to that point. Both sides should be working on having empathy.

No dude, Anet is trolling you. Blame them for upping damage and lowering toughness as it scales. 3700 toughness and you would think a warrior was wearing a T-shirt after being hit by a full glass cannon..

I’m sure you’re a class that have better/effective damage mitigation and self support reliance. Warriors doesn’t have these luxuries. Even our broken friend Ranger has better support. Not many go that route, but they can out support a warrior 1v1 and win in a battle of attrition.

Not sure if you tried but…

Clerics Amulet + Healing Signet + Adrenal Health + Banner Regen can give you a really nice passive for this type of build though. You lose about 6k hp(from soldiers) but it really isn’t missed with the healing boost. Signet can be replaced depending on situation. Though It offers trolling moments to those of lesser more “balanced” dps. If you aim for signet mastery then using the signet also becomes an option. That leans to a more defensive setup though and might cut your dps more than you prefer.

Also, I REALLY think you should not waste time with the tier 3 defense traits. Take balanced stance from tier 2, it is more valuable, if you really want 30 points into defense(for the toughness/healing boosts).

For a banner tanking build I also try going for banner of tactics(10% boon duration), 4 grove runes, and 2 earth runes. Offers a nice protection buff. Being able to use warhorn to convert vulnerability synergize well. Protection is still based on luck, but nice to have the chance to get it.

Banner of Precision is also better than defense in my opinion. The crit chance gain and crit damage boost is more effective. When compared to gaining toughness and vit that won’t make a difference.

TPvP Tank Warrior

in Warrior

The problem is still the same. Warrior still lacks natural damage mitigation from burst or conditions. In this build you can’t remove the conditions as effectively. Signet is on a 45 sec cd and warhorn can only do so much. Mending can be used but then you make self recovery even harder just to remove 2 conditions. This is not a defensive shout warriors problem.

I have one old build similar to this but the road still reaches the same dead end as everything else. 1v1 is more controllable but the same goes for a shout warrior. Except you don’t have the shout healing bursts to recover from the Oh kitten moments.

A shout warrior’s utilities are less dependent on what situations he is in, but ready to enter ANY situation(the best a warrior can anyway). Doesn’t need to switch between 2 high cd abilities to try to lower burst or conditions. Both of which won’t help you against a consistent skilled opponent that is focused in one of those categories. It will be difficult to hold off in 2v1. A warrior cannot become a true bunker because of this. We either can do two things.

1) Go full on defense to become more 2v1 reliable, but lack ANY type of offense.

-Which is another problem that the other bunkers don’t have. Being a bunker still requires that you can put pressure on opponents(damage). Relying on dodge too much also can work against you(0 dps). It gives the opponent more time to recover. It won’t help if your team has to come fight full hp opponents(unless they become greatly outnumbered).

2) Cut some defense for offense and only be consistently 1v1 capable. Which is what this current prototype build does. Bunkers need to be more solid than 1v1 capable.

^The above 2 are against skilled opponents that equally know what they are doing.

It is a fun build and one that others should try out. However, still not a hidden jewel that will get Warrior to break passed its flaws. Once you keep trying to push the warrior, you will see where my frustration with the class comes from.

tldr: There is still a gate that prevents warriors from going to where they should be.

Ghost Wars 2 is still going strong. Sucks how you have to spam tab everywhere you go to try and detect the ghosts. If Anet would implement more features that added depth ,while frowning upon zerging, this probably wouldn’t be an issue. As it only happens in big fights.

Currently, massive zerging is way too effective in this game. Anet doesn’t really care though. They are too busy trying to make SPvP an “e-sport” and adding items that is splitting up the community. They just promoted WvW so heavily to grab the money from those that thought they were serious about it.

Open-ended progression, and gamer psychology

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akumu.7238

Akumu.7238

There are different, more modern, ways to approach gaming.

I really hate every post I see saying this… There is no such thing as “modern” progression. MMORPGs have had the same progression archetypes since forever. There is ONLY three ways to approach a MMOs progression.

1)Vertical

2) Horizontal

3) Both – This is the only one that really varies by being less straightforward.

The only thing is Vertical progression is becoming more and more abused since WoW grew and destroyed the genre. Games like DAOC and FFXI used both, in their own ways. It has all been done before, just not as varied since the WoW killing/cloning era.

The problem is the mindset of players these days. A niche tries to ‘force’ the need for the 1% difference. The majority then feels pressured to gain a 1% difference. This isn’t WoW. Standing still spamming buttons will not make every % gain matter. Skill > Gear still applies currently so players need to chill.

If Anet releases another gear set that is lower/higher than legendary, then players can grab their pitch forks.

Until then, yell at them for pushing WvW to the side. They promoted this game as if WvW was a primary focus. That is where a lot of vertical(not gear) progression should occur. Including more maps and more priority for better tactics instead of join ‘ball of death’. +1 to a zerg is far too effective. Also, the culling bug. Being a ghost buster is not fun.

Their pick up also needs to be instant. Being able to throw banners ocne theyve been picked up instead of slam them down would be good too.

My only problem with the mandatory pick up is it that it would remain a bit clunky. A banner warrior would not be able to roll 2-4 banners without needing others to move them(to be time efficient and practical).

There needs to be a way to have all 4 banners down and not feel as if you are nailed to the ground because of it. Some suggest they appear on your back. I personally wouldn’t mind if it was more like WoW shaman totems. Either way would be far better than it is now.

I think even picking them up to use abilities is overrated. Just like with underwater combat, I would rather use my normal weapon abilities. Making the AoE effects worth something is more important. Anet can give them hp if that will get them to move on their own or with 1 button press per banner.

Warriors as good at tanking as Guardians?

So which is it then: warriors are OP or warrior are bottom of the barrel?

I’ve seen a lot of other threads where they’re continually said to be a top-tier PvE class.

Every class can complete PvE content. “Top-tier” goes to the skilled players in a group. Warrior is just mainly good at damage, so we are far from “complete”. Unless you draw the lines for a Holy Trinity and call Warrior a dps class.

Warriors as good at tanking as Guardians?

in Warrior

Akumu.7238

Blame Anet for probably thinking it and the others that keep saying Warrior is in a “good” spot. The warrior is fun, but remains at the bottom of the list(with our good friend Ranger). I have said this countless times by now and in more detail, but…

1) 2/3 of our utilities are terrible.

2) Most of our grandmaster(tier 3) traits are terrible. Tier 1-2 worthy at BEST.

3) We lack effective self support, when compared to other classes.

4) Our “special” mechanic(burst) is lacking on most weapons.

5) Can be burst down quickly by serious damage, regardless of our high hp/toughness levels. This is because of class reasons(lacking support) and stat scaling(Damage > Toughness).

This is just the bare surface. Going deeper in detail could easily leave some healthy posts to read. Plenty of those lingering around.

There is no holy trinity!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akumu.7238

Akumu.7238

The Holy Trinity may be “hidden” but it will always be there. Unless a MMO decides to remove Healing and Defense completely, or atleast make them nearly worthless. The Holy Trinity reaches out to the heart of majority of gamers.

Some want to be in the middle of a group taking them all on(Tank). Some enjoy having a group of players lives in their hands or just enjoy helping(Healing). The rest just want to wreak havoc with swing of a weapon or the chanting of magical words(Damage).

2/3 of a MMORPG playerbase is not going to let go of their inner…nerd(?). We all have a little role-playing nerd inside of us, don’t deny it.

In GW2 the roles may be blurred but I see nothing wrong with letting players be how they want. A Tanky class can help keep others alive longer, can stand “in the fire” to rez others easier, and doesn’t worry about dying as much. A healer does the same as any other RPG, but they now have a more proactive role(with increased damage, same as a “tank” in gw2).

Let players play how they want. The only thing that matters is if the group is successful. If not, it probably has to do more with skill than a play style.

Warrior Capabilities

in Warrior

Posted by: Akumu.7238

Akumu.7238

Warrior can be Tanky but hardly a Tank. We lack too much support and must scramble to everything that leads to it(i.e. Mace/shield/hammer/etc). So going greatsword/rifle will not give you the same feeling as being a greatsword guardian tank. Shouts is our most effective way to mitigate damage, but it is only gives you more time to fight. It’s still not something that will keep you feeling boss like a guardian.

I have created a GS Tank build countless times and it just doesn’t flow well enough. If we had better damage mitigation, better self support, then it could work much better. However, even the other, more defensive, weapons struggle to make a Warrior a Tank. At best you will just be a solid 2h wielder. At worst you will be the Warrior that probably would be better off as a Glass Cannon. Never a 2h Tank like a guardian.

edit: The above build post is as close as you get. My build was similar but tweaked slightly differently.

While you might put 250 hours in one game. You put years into a MMO. That doesn’t replace your life though. It’s just not meant to be a game you push to the side, because you “beat” it. The constant development is supposed to make it very easy to constantly log in for most of your game sessions.

I think Banners should focus more on consistent buffing for a group, while Shouts should be more of a hybrid(buff/debuff).

Fear Me: Causes Weakness and Vulnerability

On My Mark(change name…): Causes AoE Blind

Shake it off: Removes a conditions and grant vigor. We need more ways for vigor in general. We are way too sluggish and warhorn/signet shouldn’t be the only effective way to get it. The two choices forces too much on a player. We need another option for it(the terrible trait doesn’t count…).

For Great Justice: Can stay the way it is.

side note- Signet of the Dolyak: Reduce damage by a set percentage. Preferably 10% like a Guardian’s signet. Stop handing us useless toughness gains… This signet is worthless right now.

@Nergrom

I can’t agree with that type of use for banners. It would force Banners to keep a high cd while not being able to last for very long(for balance purposes). To me it also limits a banner Warriors Role far too much. It relies on the other players actions and I feel the Warrior play style is too aggressive for such a role. In my opinion banners shouldn’t work that way.

I think banners should work more like Shaman Totems in WoW for a Tactics Warrior. Except with a focus on buffing. They should be able to be placed/re-placed at will, without waiting for a long cd. While providing a buff to allies for a small duration every tick. Every tick could be 5 seconds.

Banner of Strength: Gives 3 stacks of Might for 15 seconds/tick -edit-

Banner of Discipline: Gives Fury for 2 seconds/tick

Banner of Tactics: Gives Vigor For 3 seconds/tick

Banner of Defense: Gives Protection for 1 second/tick

Battle Standard: I like the above type of battle standard but not sure. I would think that it wouldn’t be as consistent considering it prevents complete control over a group of players for a moment. This could be really OP if you take into account more than 1 warrior. Especially if 2+ run around with hammers for 1 set. I think it should provide a more consistent(but small duration) stability instead.

Trait- Inspiring banners: Provide its own buff that regens and not provide the regen buff. Why? Because Regen doesn’t stack. A tier 3 skill shouldn’t become useless because of an ALLY trying to help out.

Request: Healing Signet buff(minor)

in Warrior

Posted by: Akumu.7238

Akumu.7238

The healing signet is very weak and only useful with combined with regen(for its passive). Preferably Adrenal health + Regen, which makes a decent passive to “fill in” gaps. Though easily countered by poison and burst damage.

The problem I see with this as a healing ability is not the output(it has a low cd), but the activation timer. It has the longest activation of the 3 and it greatly hinders its potential. By the time the ability activates you would be the replacing hp, not gaining. Which leaves you without the passive and nothing to show for it.

Lower the activation to either:

1) Instant

2) 1/2 sec

I prefer if it was instant, but balance wise 1/2 sec might be better(not sure). Since you wouldn’t be able to activate it while attacking. On the other hand we are warriors. We could use more abilities that allow us to bring the pain while enduring some damage.

side note: Make Adrenal Health 2x slower than a normal regen, instead of the current 3×. If not then allow healing to increase its base output. So 3 bars can do more than the current 360.

Why is WvW such a grindfest?

in WvW

Akumu.7238

How many times have you heard some one say, “If I had his money I could do things my way?” But little they know that it’s so hard to find one rich man in ten with a satisfied mind.

Everyone has their own opinion about being “comfortable” when it comes to money. However, there is a significant difference in PvE dedicated players wallet size and someone that does WvW. You can’t stay in WvW from lv2-80 non stop and gain 1/4 of the gold you can get in PvE.

You have to break away from WvW in order to get gold. Which isn’t easy to do(if you’re dedicated), because WvW NEVER stops. Even after the week is over it just resets. Unless your world dominates both opposing worlds and can do whatever they want.

WvW is a massive and highly effective gold sink, nothing else. Anyone constantly throwing down siege will watch their gold plummet. Anyone that barely drops siege will still only see a small silver gain, maybe. Their is a major problem with that, considering siege is important. Not to mention you don’t always have time to notice bags on the ground, in a game that requires constant movement. So getting badges isn’t always easy and they still are not 100% drop.

Fight the ghost zerg or look for bags? I would prefer my team do the former.

There is nothing that will get you 1 gold increase in WvW except by being selfish and always ready to run away(prevent gear damage). Both of which will only hurt the war effort. You can’t claim to be a dedicated player if WvW has you swimming in gold. It’s not going to happen, period.

PvE gives you 10x more gold and more opportunities for it. Anet needs to boost the rewards amount for defending land and a increase for taking keeps/sm.

I have hundreds of players in my guild. The poor ones do WvW, the rich ones don’t(or not as dedicated).

About Protection being OP for us:

No, it wouldn’t be overpowered. Considering our Toughness/Armour alone does very little to mitigate serious burst damage. 3700 toughness with about 25k hp and I could get burst down(about) 2 seconds slower than a glass cannon. This is by being hit by a full glass cannon.

Damage outshines Toughness due to the latter having poor scaling. The HP does little in helping you also. If Warrior has the highest HP/Armour and that’s suppose to mean something. Why is it that some of the other classes can still tank better? They have much better self support. Something we need to truly be an effective frontline class in a game that “erased” the Holy Trinity. We’re not that great at healing, but we can at least improve in enduring to make up for it.

Defy Pain... does it work?

in Warrior

Akumu.7238

Most of our tier 3 traits are terribad. This is sadly one of those traits. In fact Both tier 3 defense traits are not worth it. You can put those last 5-10 defense points into something else and never notice the difference.

Endure Pain: Requires you to be under 25% hp…Yea not a good thing when someone can easily burst passed 25% hp. It’s not like toughness actually scales well compared to damage. Lets also remember that it is on a MAJOR cooldown for such a short duration. Added salt to a wound…

Spike Armor: Requires you to be crit hit. Why would you want a 30 point trait that requires someone critically hit you? For a 5 second duration no less. Yes please crit me guys so I can throw a little damage back at you.

Two tier 3 defense traits that fails to be effective for… defense. These are Tier 2 at best. This is just a small fraction of the bad state warrior is in. Don’t worry though guys I’m just a noob. Warrior is “in a good spot”.

Pushed GW2 to the side for PS2 also. I probably won’t be back until Warrior is fixed and hopefully some other changes. Warrior is the only class I truly enjoy playing.

WvW is Losing it's "Fun"...

Akumu.7238

I will also add it would be great if WvW received its own “mini expansion”. It needs to replace 2 BL maps with completely new and unique ones. For an effective 4 maps in total, not the 2/4 we have now with 3 being the same. It should follow more of an EB type design. EB keeps offer some cool ways to attacking the keep besides using the front or back door.

Also, give jumping puzzle players their own instance. They clog up queues and do nothing for WvW. Being in “control” of it is not important. All players in WvW should have different goals that effectively lead to the same result. Victory!

I think land is overturned too easily. There needs to be more of an approximate time it would take to overtake a certain type of settlement. Among other things.

1)Increase tier 2 and 3 leveled fortification hp.

2)Make settlements maintain the effects of how you chose to take
it. If you knock down all the walls then they should continue to stay down until repaired.

3) Cap the amount of certain siege equipment that can affect a settlement door/wall.

4)SM should have multiple “stages” to over take it. SM feels too much like a regular keep battle. I found it more fun when you had to work your way upstairs to the lord, before the cheating of course… SM should also affect more besides central location on EB and a +10 point bonus more than a regular keep. It should have an effect on all maps for the holding world.

5) Only allow points for each territory to add to your score if they connect to your home point. Those cut off is not counted. Supply Camps are not included. They are already valued enough to try and keep but don’t add much to the score.

6) Cap the amount of siege that can affect a settlement door/wall.

7) Make keeps give benefits to the holding world for that map only.

8) Give previous orb buffs to outmanned players. May need to increase buff.

1-7 are how more “hardcore” aspects could be included. Rendering wouldn’t be bad if the zerg toned down, but currently there is no reason to stop reinforcing it. Throwing numbers at something is way too effective and easy. Be it players or siege( like golem rushes).

Don’t let anyone fool you. Tier 1 difference is a more organized zerg with more “all around the clock” forces. That’s it. There is no grand scale tactics because having the best “ball of death” with a few left behind(to upgrade) is the best option. Some sprinkled supply camp harassers in the mix.

Playing Planetside 2 and it’s great how just zerging of any type is easily countered. Land has bottlenecks to prevent massive Tank zerging on a facility. Makes them easily blown up if infantry, Air, and turrets are not being focused on as well. Air is countered by other Air or all the AA. Infantry can’t just ignore all the bullets, so that stops that lol. It requires solid tactics to take key facilities. Even then territory can be “cut off” preventing you from gaining resources from your isolated(and possibly valuable) land you spent hours trying to take. Your new territory must be able to “connect” back to your Warpgate(Main base) for your faction to gain the resources. So just running across the map mindlessly gaining territory could make all your hard work moot.

Yes, that’s a MMOFPS so the variables are different. However, the point remains the same. Zerging is not frowned upon enough by current mechanics in WvW. It’s not “hardcore” enough in my opinion. You queue up, get in, and join “ball of death” with little outside the box thinking involved. It’s either MOAR ZERGLINGS!!! or MOAR SIEGE!!!!

When I use healing surge I get a full bar of adrenaline now. This actually makes the ability more useful than previously. It’s a solid trade off in my opinion and allows it to be more of a choice. Mending is typically the better choice. Please Anet tell me this is not a bug. At least let it stay and don’t “fix” it.

Dual Maces vs. Hammer

in Warrior

Hammer: great at breaking apart and controlling the crowd with it’s AoE lock down abilities.

Mace: Better for single target control. Still allows an offhand for versatility.

I didn’t find mace/mace as a solid enough option, though my experience with these two weapons(together) is limited.

Hey guys don’t worry. Other classes were nerfed so we’re in a “good” spot right now. Lets just ignore the fact that we’re still the last class(besides ranger) to be looked for in PvP.

Anet is on their way to breaking all their classes, as they foolishly try to bring them down to our level. Instead of raising their “template” standards that some say is the warrior.

IRON statement about Desolation & the future

in WvW

Posted by: Akumu.7238

Akumu.7238

Personally, I couldn’t care less about how others “feel” about my guild. Loyalty to the guild is far better than to a server. Each guild has leadership and said leadership should do what’s best for the guild. Not what’s best for a server, unless the two share common ground.

However, IRON is still respected in my book. Do what’s necessary to get Desolation stronger. Though we are no longer allies, I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield. We may fight on different sides of war now, but not with ill will towards you.

/salute
