You will never be able to be a higher level than you’re supposed to while doing stuff.
Edit: Hence if the level you see is not a “proposes” level, you will be lowered that level.
Not true.
When you down level you will be the highest level allowed in the area. It usually mean 1-3 levels higher than most mobs and the quests in the area. Sure it’s not as over powerful as most games have, but you are much more powerful than a normal character of the mobs level.
Doing map completion on my level 80 Ranger was really boring in below 50 zones, as I had to stop from time to time from killing to allow my skill cool downs to catch up. Most times my pet didn’t have time to get even a single hit. Tell me that’s not over powerful to the level.
When I was leveling in the areas I was powerful, but nothing compared to going back down leveled.
In beta I was crying against the too fast leveling, as I have done in over dozen other betas, I have had access to. There is always a small group that want the leveling to be slower and give us time to enjoy the journey to max level. Too bad we are such a small minority.
Games would have much longer life times if the journey to max level would need 3 months of extensive gaming and not 3 days.
Yes, everyone can level at any pace they want, but always brushing through all the resistances is boring and no challenge.
GW2 did it right on the point that you will be down leveled if you are too high level, they just should have down level even more. But that’s just my opinion.
If people don’t have such item, they would adapt. It’s amazing to what things humans and especially gamers can and will adapt. Yes they will cry and moan and then just accept.
It would mean more use for items that give light and new tactics for sneaking. Of course it would mean that AI would have to be affected with visual range too, unless they had items to counter it.
Some small map and half a dozen instances where you fight tendrils. Done in two hours. Then they reveal a pause until christmas and continue LS after new year.
Night times should be darker, a lot darker. Most times I can’t even tell if it’s day or night as it’s really the same.
Going into a cave or forest in night should really be dark. Forcing players to start using items that give light (there are way more of them than just torches).
Why do they think that they have to remove content to put new content in. There is no such thing as too much content on a short holiday event. More different content there is the less repetitive grind there is, thus less complaints on that.
Sure some will complain that they can not decide what content to do because you get x from there and y from there and you want both 10.000 x’s and 10.000 y’s. There is no pleasing to some people.
But Anet has several times taken the stand that they have to take away to put more. Why is that? Are they running out of storage or system capacity?
1. Remove condition pressure from auto attacks. (perfect condi application is crossfire requiring flanking hits to apply a condition, vs some attacks naturally applying long durations regardless of paramaters).
2. Re-evalutate all the profession’s condition removal options so builds aren’t pigeonheld into a select few builds (either you have condition removal or you melt quickly)5. Adjust condition removal to better reward timed use in respect to how frequent they can remove x conditions. (for example, if you used a skill such as contemplation of purity you shouldn’t just be easily reapplied with every condition given its long cooldown. What is the point in using it then?)
1. Yes please. All basic attacks (number 1) should just be that, basic attacks with no conditions. That would lessen a lot of no use conditions put on enemies.
2. More different types of condition removals and especially more removals that affect friendlies surrounding you.
5. After condition removal you should be immune to the types of conditions your removal takes away (not all of them remove all condition types). A simple two second immunity would be very effective in keeping your condition removal useful.
Problem I see with the current trait treasure hunt is the location/event they are tied to. There is adept trait (5/III) that is unlocked in level 58 mini dungeon and several that can be found in 50-60 areas. You get your first adept trait option on level 36.
How is that level 36 character going to be able to get those adept traits when you need to adventure in zones way over your head and kill level 60 champions (what many level 80 chars are unable to solo).
At first I liked the idea of trait hunting, but then I saw what they did with it.
Why not sprinkle NPC’s around who would teach you the traits for a task or just a chat. And make sure that the trait unlocks are in level area suitable to the level of character needed to use it.
Just updated my ranger with knight gear and have noticed him getting aggro a lot more now. Not really my point in putting knight stuff on, but just have to live and kite with it.
It’s always fun to target the enemy outside of the current battle instead of the three standing in front of you that are currently hitting you. Then as ranger you shoot your penetrating arrow and aggro that new enemy and it’s friends. Oh the joy.
On Eu server have had lots of problems with lag and connectivity in the past month. I really hope they can solve the problem.
Some days are ok, but on someday I get disconnected 5 times in two hours.
Don’t know why, but my 80 chars were suddenly able to use the goggles again. A week ago I got that same message, but last weekend I happened on a goggle and was able to use it.
I have not leveled a new character in the mean time, but have played a different level 80 a lot last week.
We will have to be patient and wait and see how the Living Story will continue on November 4th. It will show as another small glimpse on what is coming and what direction this is going. Will it be better or worse?
I think it will be for worse. I hope for better, but have been let down on so many updates so many times, that I just can’t see how they would have changed their mind.
The direction Anet is taking this game will mean I will once again stop playing it in near future. Maybe next year I will once again come back (for fourth time) and see what is going on, but that is the future and it is unfathomable.
The problem isn’t single cow heart quest, but the general idea that in Anet’s mind players are simpletons who give them their money. They should stop patronizing their player base and focus on real problems this game has and also on the things they have hinted will be on game since beta.
There is lot of hate on these forums, but also lot of concern on the way Anet operates and hides their plans. Little more clarity would help a lot to clear the air here.
On final note I would like to ask where is the “promised” class of Commando? I want my Elite skill Apache gunships to go for Tequatl and take him down.
Ghouls taking over the forums
Guild halls and keeps
Idea to have either a Guild hall in major city or a Guild keep in mists
Goal of Proposal
Giving small and large guild and those that are interested in pure RP or PvE an equal chance to have a Guild hall, as those that are more interested in PvP side of the game and possibly coming GvG war.
Proposal Functionality
Each major city has it’s own city themed Guild hall instance area. Similar to the current personal story area. Each area could have 5-10 Guild halls in the instance.
Guild halls are ready made buildings in outside appearance, but fully customizable from inside where each guild can buy furniture and place them as they want and show off trophies, they have received from dungeons and world bosses.
As there are several sizes of guilds, the halls need to be of different sizes also from lowly 5-person guild (minimum guild size to get a guild hall) to massive 500 players guilds.
Guild hall sizes and the amount of furniture/items they can have (to limit the clutter)
Apartment (5-50 persons guild) 1-2 rooms 10 items
Large apartment (10-50) 2-3 rooms 25 items
Small building (10-100) 1 story 2-4 rooms 50 items
Medium building (50-100) 1-2 story 3-5 rooms 100 items
Large building (50-250) 2-3 story 4-6 rooms 150 items
Small mansion (100-250) 2 story 4-6 rooms 200 items
Medium mansion (100-500) 2-3 story 4-8 rooms 300 items
Large mansion (250-500) 3 story 6-10 rooms 400 items
Guild hall (250-500) 4 story 12 rooms 500 items
On the outside the guilds would show their banners and possible victory banners from WvW. Inside the guilds could purchase the use of vendors, crafting stations, waypoint stones and other possible amenities.
Guild keeps are similar but have bases on ever changing world of the mists.
Each keep is build on a parcel of land that is chosen from different base layouts each similar to a region in Tyria (Ascalon, Kryta, Maguuma, Shiverpeak, Orr).
Unlike the simple halls, the guild keep consists of outer wall and inner keep. The size depends on the size of guild, but similar to the cities halls. But instead of only able to upgrade and customize the outsides, the walls and keeps can be upgraded and customized in outlook to fit the guild and also to give better protection against attacking enemies (both PvE and PvP).
Each parcel contains only single Guild keep, but each month 10 different parcels of similar keep sizes are linked together in the mist (this can be done with bridges or portals) and the guilds can go raiding their fellows in the mist. If keep is raided successfully, it is sacked and will be build again in seven days (no new cost). During this time it can not be attacked again, but also it’s vendors and crafting tables etc. are also unusable.
Land parcels must be large enough to be much more than the keep only and each have it’s own NPC monsters too. Players can influence the monsters through event chains to make them attack random keeps in the current 10 parcel world of GvG war. If such attack happens there should be sufficient numbers of monster to actually make it dangerous.
If Guild keep is attacked all the players belonging to the defending guild (representing or not) will be alerted to the fact and have an option to port to the waypoint near the keep or inside the keep if the keep has that upgrade. This happens no matter where in Tyria they are.
Guild hall level is a new category in the Guild influence tree and that limits what kinds of improvements can be bought to the hall. Possible upgrades are limit of furniture, showing of banners, waypoints, crafting tables (no crafting vendors), basic vendors (no Black Lion traders because we need to keep the cities alive too), different styles of furniture. In keeps it would also include number and level of NPC defenders, siege weapons, wall upgrades etc.
Associated Risks
Numerous. Belonging to multiple guilds and fighting against your own guild. Emptying the cities. How to decide what guild gets which building in city instances? New items and rewards to show off in the guild halls. Access to guild halls, only to members or should all be able to walk around and use the amenities? How furniture works? Can you place it anywhere and turn it around the way you like (rugs in the wall, armors and weapons in stands, shields in wall etc.)?
One of the biggest mistakes I have seen in several games have been to limit too much the customization of houses and guild buildings. Many MMO players and guilds have large ego’s and want to show off in their own way. That means being able to make the halls and keeps look like you want and not be limited with ready made furniture layouts and not being able to change things.
Best housing I have ever seen in MMO was in old SWG. Sure it was complex, but it brought it’s own economy as there were people just doing interior decorating (and getting rich making it).
They changed story mode dungeons on the last patch, now you are always 2 lvls above the dungeon lvl, so in AC you are lvl 32, CM lvl 42 and so on. And on top of that we do way more damage now since the change to how ferocity scales down to lower lvl areas, so you do a lot more damage and you are 2 lvls higher than the mobs.
Ok, that explains a lot. Missed those notes on patch it seems. We were just really surprised how easy it all was.
Will have to try solo for fun and see what happens.
I just did Twilight arbor story mode with my guild. Haven’t done that for almost two years now and we had two first timers there. All of us who had done it before were surprised how easy it was. There was no challenge at any point and we just smashed all opposition away.
I do remember how tough it was at start and then it got little easier when we learned to play properly. But it was never this easy. It felt like you could solo it.
When did they change the story modes and made them super easy?
LotRO had nice approach to cooking and farming. You could farm in special fields just about all the ingredients needed for cooking. I know cooking is cheap and such, but the prices of some finished products are really insane, considering it’s a short time buff only.
Too bad the only non combat thing to do is jumping puzzles and crafting (but you need to fight to get materials to that).
New profession and Racial skills.
I just wish that they would say yes or no for this whole expansion debate.
Saying yes, doesn’t mean that they have to say when it’s done or what expansion it is. Just knowing that it is coming at some point would satisfy me, for couple of years at least.
This whole secrecy thing is really just starting all kinds of conspiracy theories and can’t be healthy for their revenue.
New conspiracy theory here. Their other teams are really working on mobile version of GW2 that will come out on Apple ios on 2015 and on Android on 2019. There will never be a expansion, just new game.
Make it tax free zone
Items’s picked up/sold from Black Lion Trader NPC in the island don’t pay fees (or have them reduced). But the waypoint there costs five times as much to port in and also porting out costs five times more.
But for new player just coming to the game he/she/it won’t even know there are such things as salvage kits or boosting drinks if he can’t find simple versions from the first merchants he/she/it finds like the heart merchants.
The dev could have hid a message in the NPC dialog that tells the players that they have won $5000 just for reading the dialog with detailed steps to claim the prize and they can be assured no one will even claim it.
I can’t remember the number of times I have gotten furious at my friends, when I’m helping them, because they didn’t listen or read the quest. It’s not fun running around for half hour helping a friend, when he suddenly asks you what he is supposed to be doing as this running around is boring. Then trying to figure what quest he is on and trying to remember what was that quest about, when he can read it on his journal/log book, but you are stuck with your own memory system 1.01 (brain).
It’s sad that there are so many people that just want instant gratification
Problem is that many people and most of the media, seems to think that in MMO you must be able to understand and do everything in the first 30 minutes of game time (like in single player game).
I have seen so many people complaining about the difficulty of games when they have played it for less than an hour.
MMO’s usually open up and you start to understand the game (world and mechanics) after you get to level 15 and above. Level 15 is not possible on game shows where people get to play for few minutes, if you then ask those players what they thought you will get answers that the game is hard to get into etc.
If they have questioned first timers in game shows I would understand their error of thinking, but otherwise the direction of making a simple game even simpler will be driving new and old players away, not bringing them to play the game more.
It’s going to take more than couple of days for them to fix this mess. Only fast way is to go back before the patch and I don’t think that is available option.
The patch did some good, but all the content gating and new player changes were a really, really, really, really, really …. really bad decision. They only thought about the money from China sector and not what their current players would think about it. Sure it’s their game, but if no one is willing to play they have no game.
Yes for new weapons.
2-H Axes – Condition effects
Halberds – Slow but high hitting with knockdowns
Whips – fast attacking with lots of movement effects (bot positive and negative)
Crossbows – Slow firing but high hitting and vulnerability/power shots
Two new weapons per class.
Game is very late for a larger expansion. The LS is nice and gives us some things to do while waiting for it, but it’s not truly giving us much more than story.
Yes, there are now two (2) new areas thanks to living story, but both of those are about one fourth (1/4) of the other zones and are limited to only level 80 characters. The zones and all the content in them (not talking about achievements) is done in matter of hours.
What the game needs is 3-4 new full size zones. New dungeons, even if they only come with one path to start with. Either a new race or a new class, for those altholics with 15 level 80 characters at the moment.
So in the end the game needs a good expansion. And I bet most people are willing to pay real gold (cash) for it too.
Opened less than 100 chests but 0 fossils so far. One of the reason I’m not too concerned is that games RNG hates me and I don’t actually think I would even find a fossil I would use.
I just did a Fractal with guildies and I was happy that they found exotics and ascended items galore. I got the one ascended ring and couple or rare weapons.
A net should really look into how their RNG really works, because it seems to favor some players more than others.
I’d like to see more dungeons. They don’t have to be story + three exploration paths, but could be with one path (perhaps 50% longer than current paths).
Also a new zone should be (IMO) at least half the size of current zones and the two new zones we have seen have been nice additions, but they just don’t cut it when it comes to size and longevity.
Sure there are tons of things to do in the game, but (there always is a but) after two years many players all ready have done them several times over. So yes, players will always want more and more content. Because doing the same content over and over will get boring eventually.
Instead of Wet Bottom there could come a Bikini Bottom. Perhaps with a crab hamburger inn, where you could meet up.
They really should boost the rewards of bosses that take ten times longer to kill.
Why would anyone kill the giant when they can kill multiple champions in the same time frame and thus get much more loot and bigger chance of nice items.
And I’m not talking about giving and extra champion bag. The chance for rare loot should be much higher on legendary opponents.
The quest to search the “lost” crown pieces was ridiculous. It clearly told you where each piece was, so the pieces were never lost. Yes, I know the one piece magnetically pulled you toward the other pieces, but it actually didn’t. it just showed you where they were.
It would have been great if the quest was done so that you get three arrows/pointers on your UI/map to show the direction where the pieces are. Not the actual locations. So you would actually have to search for the lost pieces.
Most of the quests in GW2 are too easy because it almost always tells you exactly where to go, there is no searching or exploration needed there.
Otherwise nice prequel for something that might actually be fun.
I would like to know my own fractal level, without going to the portal. That would be nice.
Do fractals have any scaling mechanism at the moment?
People say that they can be soloed, but I find that hard to believe as many of them require group mechanisms and/or have large number of tough enemies coming at you at same time.
- Dredge, floor buttons
- Dredge, end boss without someone to pour liquid metal
- Swamp, wisps
- Molten, saving the prisoners (yes I know they can be sacrificed)
Along with those in many places you get five to twenty mobs at one time
Would like to see some scaling on number of people, but those Nightmare chambers were not scaling properly. They were super easy while solo (single veteran enemy) and much harder with full group. It’s good that they are testing and trying scaling dungeons, but is it really that hard to beta test them first.
I thought the Dark/Shadow/Death/Unholy/Black Knight was already implemented.
I see plenty of them everyday along with their Twilights.
They are just Dark knight fanboys, not the real thingies
And when confronting a Zerg you know it’s time to get the hell outta doge when your health bar instantly drops to 10%.
But at that time you are stunned, dazed, knocked down and immobilized among other things.
I run Asura warrior and trying to hit something in zerg fighting is near impossible. Either I’m past our def line and die, or I’m too far back and aren’t hitting anything. I can’t see the damage numbers even, so until fight is over (or I’m dead) I have no idea how well I’m doing.
Just last night I had great fun in zerg in EB. People were gongratulating each others and talking how we killed those enemy zergs and got tons of loot bags. Me? I got three, as I was too far back, but there were 30 Norn’s and Chars on top of me along with all that light show that obscured those damage numbers, so I didn’t know where I was standing.
At the moment cheapest green 80 weapon is 2 silver. Cheapest rare 80 weapon is 28 silver (that is direct buy prices).
So you can get 14 greens for the price of one rare.
Odds are that you will get at least one rare on average from that, but if you have bad toilet luck, you might not get one even after 20 or 30.
Just farming and saving the greens will use a lot of bag/bank space or you will be going to forge every 30 minutes. Costing you a lot of money for waypointing.
I’d buy several new character slots and spend tons of money if I could play as Skritt.
Shiney
Shadowknight
Warrior with shadowstep and necro pets abilities. Of course you would need to tone down on the weapons skills to not make too powerful.
I like the idea of able to summon things and have used this while leveling with my warrior and ranger. It’s great fun, but the 60 seconds duration does make it very weak compared with other sigils. Along with the OP’s point of it not working before zone change after summons, just makes it useless (unless you die a lot).
You can un-transmute them with a stone from gem store.
But please no confirmation boxes and additional are you sure? Are you really sure? Are you absolutely sure about this? questions.
You choose the skin, stats and rune/sigil and then, when you know what you want you clock the Ok.
Simple and effective and unless you are wasted you can’t really make mistakes. Why make it harder than it needs to be?
They never did leave the mists, so that instability could be locked when you enter the lobby.
I do hope they are random, but why then make 19 of them?
If they are locked to certain levels, that means that certain levels will be hard to get group as some instabilities will be easier and some harder.
Make nights really dark on cloudy days and give us a reason to use different light sources (like torches on off hand) to actually see.
Of course they can do it. The question is what does it cost and how much are YOU willing to pay for it.
Doing it for a small player group is time taking and thus expensive. Are you willing to pay extra for it, or do you just want it for free?
And no English is not my first language, but having played computer games for over twenty years have taught me much about the language along with having learned it in school for couple of years.
I agree that the current skilldeck is lacking, but making bunch of new skills and keeping them balanced is hard. Instead give us a choice of putting a normal (not buffed or super sized) utility skill in that slot. Something that we can actually use.
On mesmer I have no elite skill that is useful when soloing in pve, but I really could use some of those utility skills. Same thing on my ranger and warrior actually.
In the tower I noticed that with 1-2 people the event bosses were Veteran’s, but add few people more and they became Champions.
Where is that new monster difficulty that is between Veteran and Champion (Elite).
Veteran on 1-2 people is super easy. Champ on three people is a bit harder.
Then they just keep on scaling upwards the hit points when more people show up.
How about not scaling the hit points upwards so much and giving the bosses more skills when he scales up. Some heals (that can be interrupted if done at right time), knockbacks and more large aoe damage rains.
How about allow us to use a utility skill in elite slot. Most of the elites are really useless, and allowing one more utility would be great.

I’d say number three (3) is the one that you are looking for.
They really should focus even a bit towards the dragons, unless they have Scarlet as a dragon pawn (I hope not).
The way to dragons should be won by sweat and hard work, and unless we can actually accomplish some set of goals, the next step would not be opened. That brings the trouble of how to cope with all the servers being in different stages. I don’t think their servers are set so that can be done.
Anyway on that I’m glad that there is now something other to fight than the kitten Risen. The game is 50% of killing Risen again and again. Enough with the zombies.
Additional keys can be found as drops via the mobs all over the tower. The key drops off the random mobs inside the tower are random. However, if you complete the chambers on various floors, they have a chance to give you specific colored keys
First level chambers drops Mysterious Blue Key
Second level chambers drops Mysterious Green key
Third level chambers drops Mysterious Pink key
- Dulfy
If I understand that correctly the key drops from mobs are random and it don’t matter what floor you are on. But the chests in chambers have a chance to drop key related to the floor where the chamber is.
I had the biggest trouble of getting my fifth pink key. Run around the 3rd floor and did all those 3rd floor chambers several times with no luck. Then went and bought it from the vendor.
