  • Why does a veteran spider hatchling summoned by a Champion Spider have so much HP that it lives for over 3 minutes?
  • Why does a Champion Villager (or Illusion for that matter) summoned by Lyssa’s Priestess have so much health that it hasn’t died in the last 20 minutes since it got summoned?
  • Why do you get 1-shot by Risen Plague Carriers that are invisible because of culling? Why do you get hit for 4k crits by normal grade monsters summoned by summoned Acolytes?

This needs toning down, especially until culling in PvE isn’t fixed. It’s not fun to get killed by invisible/unpredictable attacks or to have adds that have half the boss’s HP.

Ambush Trap is good, but the main problem with both traps and venoms is that Caltrops are just plain better.

This is why I wasn’t too unhappy with the Caltrops nerf that happened recently. In fact, they should probably be nerfed more to only do 1 bleed stack per tick instead of 2 to bring it more in line with other utility skills.

However, what really rubs me the wrong way is how Caltrops are covering the weakness of a lot of other things in the Thief’s arsenal. They really just need to make some changes to the class all the way around.

If they nerfed Caltrops that much, nobody on earth would play condi theives anymore. Might as well just remove all utilities but Shadow Refuge/Shadowstep/Signet of Shadows then.

NPC’s dont dodge/stun break / teleport out of it.
Players with a couple of functional brain cells will avoid the dmg easily.

Really? How about using utilities/elites/your steal to pistol whip? If you proc it with: Infiltrator’s Signet, Balisk Venom, Infiltrators strike, Devour Venom, Steal, you can still get some damage.

And then you get hit for 3k by retal.

Seriously, have you ever played any stealth builds? A good player always takes into calculation the animation times too. So you want to precast stealth skills that aren’t instant so that they hit right as revealed ends.
Please, people who don’t know thief mechanics, don’t make yourselves look stupid.

I’m not saying it’s incredibly difficult to know their timers, but not having to mouse over stealth to see duration would be a really useful thing (which again, other classes already have with their key boons/conditions), I hate that I have to use the UI for that.

I think you should provide screenshots of the exact place and angle to reproduce this bug, they won’t test out all the potentially infinite locations from where this could be reproduced.
Also, it cannot be exploited, exploits are advantageous for the person doing them, while this is clearly a huge drawback.

The ingame Bug Report window closes every time (along with every other opened window) when I get a loading screen.
This is extremely annoying even in the open world, and makes it borderline useless in dungeons (leader or I leave at the end – get ported, half-written report closes, I rage), especially in fractals (while teleporting from one fractal to another, it always closes, and then again, I rage).
An option to disable closing opened windows when getting a loading screen would be much appreciated since it’s also very incovinient with Trading Post and Death Recap windows closing the same way.

Joining from overflow = network error

As the title says, when I try to join back on the original map from an overflow while guesting results in a network error and me exiting queue and having to relog to even try again (without anything else happening).
The network error is visible on the attached picture.

This bug has made it impossible for me to do Claw of Jormag while guesting since the guaranteed rares were introduced and the recent patch changed nothing in regards to this issue.

Just improve the iMage.

-Give the iMage 1200 range,

-Make the confusion benefit from the mesmers condition duration bonus

-Possibly up the base duration to 5 seconds for both confusion and retaliation (confusion maxes out at 10 seconds duration anyway).

-Any of the other possible changes that have been suggested by various players.

If anything, its confusion should stack higher, but there should be no duration increase, long confusions are more redundant than perma-retaliation is and wouldn’t fit the condition’s design (forces you to halt your skills/actions for a short time or you take damage – would be dumb with perma-confusion).

Retaliation is the opposing defense for Aegis.

Aegis is great against a Hard Hitting Single attack.
Retaliation is great against Multiple Fast attacks hitting for the same amount.

Aegis is almost useless against the Multiple Fast attacks.
Retaliation is almost useless against the Hard Hitting Single attack.

But aegis protects you while retaliation isn’t a defensive boon in any way. That comparison isn’t really valid.

It seems that when I try to quickness stop someone, the stomp doesn’t actually happen until ~1 second after the animation is over.

So if I want to qstomp someone successfully I have to sit still after the animation until I get text confirmation.

Not sure if this is a glitch or maybe I’m doing something wrong.

It is not “Really” bugged, the problem that most people have is when quickness runs out midway through the stomp and how it is handled. The most obvious of these is short duration quickness from the ranger to quickness stomp which just barely covers the full stomp time. This is similar to starting quickness midway through a skill which will not haste the second half of the ability causing you to lose part of your quickness. The problem is when the quickness runs out mid stomp the ability reverts to its normal timer, and has the miss aligned animation and stomp time.

TLDR: Your quickness is running out mid stomp.

Pretty much this. But you don’t “lose” anything, the stomp will still be faster by a certain amount if you have quickness at its start.

Ah so to make quickness stomp actually stomp you should just stand there for 1 second untill he’s actually dead?
What if you get dazed or between the animation end and the actual stomp?
Will it still prevent the stomp then? Because then quickness stomp is totally useless

Yeah it will interrupt your cast. The only thing that’s bugged is the stomp animation not updating (slowing down to normal speed) client-side when quickness runs out. If that was fixed then you wouldn’t see anything odd in it.

OP seems to forget that AOE fields that do direct damage also count as attacks, so some AOE specs just get demolished by Retaliation without being able to do anything about it.

Check out a skill like engineer’s Fire Bomb: pulses every second hitting up to 5 targets, hits 4 times overall. If all targets have Retaliation, it’s at very least 3k damage taken just from a single skill, and usually without the guardian even intentionally popping Retaliation to cause that effect. Or check Cluster Bomb. Or Pistol Whip. The list goes on.

Boons like this which require close to no active interaction to be effective are kitten and don’t promote skilled play. It was supposed to(?) be a boon version of confusion, but it’s stupid because it barely has any visual feedback aside from the UI and it stacks in duration sometimes resulting in way too long Retaliation uptime for the enemy to just wait until it’s over (while most confusions don’t last longer than 6s).

My sylvari shouting “I need cover.” every now and then when he gets hit by vulnerabilty. It’s pretty sarcastic when he gets like 2 stacks or so, but it’s super annoying because of the high pitch of the sound (it’s also louder than the other lines).

Also “Uhhh, that had to hurt.” on big hits and “Eat my dust.” with human male, love those.

Why is it important to use your pve character? Grab a pvp one in which everyone has access to the SAME gear. Or is it you are looking for a gear advantage?

He probably is. Many people feel like that, they hate not overpowering their enemies. Also PvE skills/stats aren’t balanced around PvP at all, so he could make a lot more cheesy builds (aka. 100+ critdmg.).

Either that or he wants to keep the cosmetic items he obtained in PvE.

I agree this problem with mes was important to fix. I’m not complaining about the fix.

My problem is that we still haven’t had any sort of hotfix for people who abuse the bugs with stealth. My thief can stay invis for nearly the entire fight. My revealed debuff may as well not exist as I’m usually still invis for as long as it lasts. I’m just wondering why if this is the policy for strong bugs nothing has been done to resolve this issue with stealth in months?

Wat? Do you think revealed should be triggered when stealth time runs out? The revealed effect was only added to stop thieves from spamming their #1 stealthskill too fast.

I don’t really like the idea for Regeneration though, ’+’s popping up just isn’t the same style as other boons – I’m pretty sure nobody wants to see UI-like elements at any other place than the UI. The green particles would be enough, regeneration isn’t that important to react to anyway.

Fury sounds like a good idea but it shouldn’t be that obnoxiously red, maybe some red particles around the character like ‘Rampage as One’ ranger elite but making the whole character red would be way too annoying to see for me.

The could change it so you always get “revealed” when stealth ends or after any attack (even if you miss).

I have to totally agree on this one. One stealth should only allow one Backstab attempt so if you do hit (meaning if you just spam Backstab in the air it shouldn’t reveal you) a target and miss because of blind, invulnerable or block, you should be revealed.
The current system makes it extremely hard to avoid a Backstab with your invulnerabilities or blocks because the thief just won’t appear after 3+ Backstab fails.

BRAH, because theres a trait that stealths you after you use STEAL on top of that, if you have hidden killer traited GG to that son of a b, I don’t play a thief and I know this.

stealth > backstab > steal > backstab > lights out

Too bad that you get ‘Revealed’ in the middle of that combo and the 2nd stealth will fail. Please stop posting about professions you don’t know.

I just cant see how a 500 extra power can make it go from a 5 k crit to a 10 k crit
2000 power = 5 k crit
2500 power = 10 k crit ???

Tooltip = 1.5 k dps , axual dps = 10 k ( just smells like something is bugging here maybe the tooltip ? )

Dont get me wrong my main is a thief , but playing the class just feels like there something unfair about them compared to others ( mostly cause of the steal precast)

i woud suggest not to allow precast while another skill is executing.
or at least make it so that non channeled skills can not go above 8 k crit( 50% of total HP of target)

it removes the option for a 1.5 sec kill combo and it will make people axualy make other builds on thief then just “backstab build” and “constant cloak pistol build”

or at least it will require more skill of the thief to still use these combo’s

Tooltips were never accurate. You also forgot two things: crits and traits.

  • Thieves have over 60% bonus crit damage to the 50% base.
  • Thieves have: 10% more damage if the target has a condition, 10% more damage if above 6 initiative, 20% more if target’s below 50%, 5% more dagger damage

Do your math

and btw, this ‘10k’ is just pulled from people’s kitten, only way to get that high is Signet power build. I rarely ever go higher than 6k crits with it.

Projectile Ducking/ Game breaking?

This mechanic was in GW1 also. Either get closer to your target, make your projectiles faster (quickness), or root/disable your target before shooting. Really not that hard to deal with, but I’m sure Anet will remove it if enough people complain on the forums.

It’s just a bad mechanic… It makes range classes not worth as much as melee. They should remove it. Does it make sense to get closer if you’re a ranged class?

You obviously have never heard of “running through the enemy to avoid melee hits” mechanic, did you? <_<

I really don’t understand anyone saying that. Aion was never even close to balanced, it had:

  • no real reaction based combat, you couldn’t avoid skills/attacks 95% of the time when you saw them coming (except gliding fear which was an unintended bug btw)
  • huge gear gaps
  • ridiculous passive defensive stats (~60-80% magic resist chance, block/parry chance)
  • ridiculous RNG (Stunning Shot, godstones, random resists)
  • sorcs (aka. IWIN combo)
  • SMs (aka. instantfear…LOL 3 other fears, 20s+ fear uptime)
  • getting ganked while your only, 1min CD stunbreak isn’t available (silence or cooldown)
  • long kitten cooldowns making enemies win just because you don’t have anything for the next 3 minutes
  • PvP ‘content’ and patches were published every 6-12 months
  • zero build diversity (you either went for block/m.resist abusing or burst or both)

The skills always did that, no matter if they were channeled or not, they always hit even if the target stealths.
I’m saying this after playing ele/engi/mesmer and thief. Ranged channeled abilities even give away your location as the enemy can see his attacks flying to you.

This is why shortbow is awesome in pvp.

don’t know if its considerd a bug but if you start a “pistol whip” and then steal while attacking and shadowstep with that steal you will continue the pistol whip at the new location. only thing i noticed how this can be exploitable is in pvp when someone moves behind you, you can then tele while perfoming the skill to place yourself correctly agian.

That’s not a bug, that’s just how Steal works. Using it will not cancel other skills.

“Completely immune”?
I recommend you try and play a Death Blossom build. You’d soon find out that you’re only evading through about half the animation and that you’re out of ini in 3-4s.

  • If you use it (it’s instant) and they evade out of it, you deserve to be punished by the skill going on cooldown, and you being stuck with the poison debuff.
  • If you use it and the target is out of your LoS (obstructed), you deserve to be punished…
  • If you use it and the target is out of 1200 range, …

The thing is, Blood is Power has the same mechanic but it doesn’t bleed you if you miss it. Oh and I think you know about random “Obstructed!” messages appearing as well. So yeah, you deserve to be punished for an annoying bug with their collision checks.

no prof is as mobile as ele and thief. theyre outright OP in this department, making them the best roamers, and allowing them the most survivability in the game, hands down. you just cant argue that.

Actually, the ranger can come pretty close. There are rune sets and trait setups that allow for almost constant 250% endurance regen which is a dodge just about every 5 seconds as well as constant swiftness just from healing and weapon swaps. This can be combined with freezing sigils to slow other players or sigils that give 50% endurance every swap along with longbow/shortbow for crowd control/escape. This hugely mobile build is also super tanky.

I’m only really saying this because it’s no good turning threads like this into QQs about how some classes are overpowered when other classes have lesser used trait/skillsets that allow for the same thing.

Sorry to pop your bubble but I’m pretty sure endurance regen stats don’t stack (just like speed boosts).
And most of the mobility comes from skills not swiftness imo. (especially from teleports which can jump over huge distances).

i dont think its quite that simple generally the skills with longer cast times and more risk/reward have a harsher interupt penalty? im pretty sure ive canceled and been interupted on churning earth before, and other long channel spells and been given the full cooldown.

Churning Earth is special, because it’s a channeled skill (which hits enemies with cripple during the animation). Channeled skills get on a full CD unless they’re interrupted in the very start (like the first 0.5-0.3s).

@OP: Interrupts are still really strong if you time them well on heal skills when the enemy is low. Making them longer cooldown would take away from the viability of the long-cast skills by a lot. They already are easy to see and stop/avoid, let alone interrupting them for full cooldown.
Imagine it with guardian tomes, nobody would use them if their #5 worked like that.

This is not just for thieves its for every class that can evade while imobolized. It renders imobolize useless.

Uhm…NO? They still cannot turn around to attack and don’t move. Evade skills are like very short invulns, they just have a different look. By the same logic, make invulns have no effect while immobilized too? Immobilize is longer than stuns for a reason, don’t expect the same effect from it (which judging by your comments is – fully diabling the enemy).
Basically you’re expecting to kill them with your immobilize when thief shortbow is the hard-counter of that condition?
About stuns, once you get them to use their heal and Shadowstep, they die so easily.
Oh and are you complining about Shadow Refuge? You know a thief dies in 2s if you AOE in it, right?

Pretty much true, i myself dont get cought that often in some insta gib combo as a thief, however, it does not mean other classes dont. As i take some points in shadow arts i still have stealth with blind on 25% hp helping me to survive instagibs or such things as mesmers shatters, passivly, just like warriors endure pain and such.

Anyways its not about that. Its just that mesmers just as thiefs got access to instagib combo on other glass cannons.

I kinda agree on this one. Even thieves rarely get their combo off against good people in tourneys (unless they’re on cooldowns, just like with mesmer).

Oh and the mesmer’s complaining about a 10s CD, 2s immobilize weapon skill not winning him the day? meh. Thieves’ basilisk/devourer venoms can be avoided even more easier and they’re elites/utilities on higher cooldowns.

Load Screen Bug Fixed?

Could this in any way be realted to the lag issues many of us are experiencing?

I’ve only had this happen to me once or twice, and am also experiencing severe lag from time to time.

Its very possible, which would also explain why its so hard to reproduce it internally with zero latency.

The trick about it is that the client actually loads in, you can hear the sounds of people/objects/music. It’s just the loading screen not going away, everything is loaded.

Rangers have one of the most anti-condi builds with their “pet taking conditions” trait (triggers like every 10s, pets hardly die if you keep switching them) and Healing Spring which last for like 12s and removes 1 condi every 2-3s. If you cannot kill bleed thieves 1v1 then I’m sorry to say so but that’s a huge l2p issue.
Me and my friends tested caltrops bleed thief 1v1, never won against the other player. You can easily dodge Death Blossom and Caltrops and live.

Dodge the initial blade throw or move out of range of the pull (it’s like 600 IIRC). This isn’t a terribly difficult ability to counter.

No, except if he does it in melee when it has the same kitten animation as their #2. Oh and it pulls you out of skills like Death Blossom/Pistol Whip while they take away the initiative. That’s the most kitten thing about it tbh.

Yeah, just spam Tab, I do that all the time. If you get him selected, I’m fairly sure you’ll see his red circle and the red arrow above his head, even though his model is invisible.

you can shroudstomp with ds, just hit f1 and F at the same time.

They stealthfixed that, it no longer works with stomping (even if you try to exit DS right before stomp goes off, the animation will finish but the target won’t die) or reviving.

Oh and also, never try to revive in DS, it gets you glitched and unable to move now (until you die or get knocked back/teleported/etc…)

Shadow Refuge – 9/10 (Amazing, but opponents are learning how to counter it, and without stability, getting knocked out of the effect is too easy)

That’s why I always pop it near objects/walls, then they cannot knock you out.
The more dangerous thing is mass AOE on Refuge, you’re so fragile that another thief can kill you with 2-3 Cluster Bombs inside Refuge.

Runes/sigils that proc an attack like Air Runes also cause revealed if they proc while you’re stealthed.
