Next step: Portable Forts.
Next step: Portable Elder Dragons
Next step: Portable worlds
And now they are going to lose players
But there is a pretty big chunk of players who don’t pvp because of the softwall put by premade teams. Those might outweight the number of people that quit
“The poll has concluded! The final results (not including “Don’t Count My Vote”) are:
79.1% Yes, restrict ranked queue to one or two-player parties for Season 5.
20.9% No, do not restrict ranked queue to one or two-player parties for Season 5.
This means Ranked Arena will be restricted to solo players and two-player parties during Season 5. This change will not affect off-season Ranked Arena or Unranked Arena. After the end of Season 5 we will re-evaluate the experience and poll the community again to decide if the change should become permanent for all ranked seasons. Thanks for voting and we look forward to the changes coming to ranked play!”

As a Camp A voter without many friends in PvP I am happy with the result.
But I wanted to voice something else: Why is there an or/or situation?
I mean, for both camps it’s a win/lose or lose/win situation. Why where there not two queues to begin with. SoloQ for 1-2 sized parties, and Group Queus for 5 man parties.
That way both camps win.
I would rather buy an outfit in pieces for 2000 gems than a single outfit for 700 gems.
But why? Braham’s armor had the helm, boots and gloves seperately. There are seperate Pirate pieces now. And then there’s Scarlets armor pieces. Those are all sold as seperate pieces. Many outfits like this one are very generic, with 1 or 2 unique pieces. Why not just sell those 1-2 unique pieces, like in this case the helm.
The thing with warrior skills is, that this class is the archetype for accessibility, that’s why most of the skills have a secondary effect that does something useful even if the skill doesn’t land. Shouts fall into that category too (heal for example).
And on topic of failsafe target-requiring-skills: i personally dont like to see more of that, as i think skill does not mean pressing the buttons that are available (as it’s already the case for a few classes), but knowing when and why to do that. So if you fail to land an ability, yes, you fail to land that ability and you can get better by trying not to do that. If things like this do continue to get implemented, there’s nothing stopping people from wanting out-of-range attacks to also not be castable like in other mmos.. Some things make the GW combat unique and that’s good and means not having (many of) those failsafe implementations (for now..).
I would agree if targetting wasn’t such a pain in the posterior organ. I mean, how often have I selected a target only to completely and without intent lose the target. I don’t know why it is, even if I have the target marked, and press T to select that target, I lose focus in less than 5 seconds. This is usually not a problem on the warrior, though. But sometimes I choose a target, and then leap to death because by the time I use rush, I’ve lost focus, or I waste a shout by calling “on my mark” when I lost focus again.
Don’t tell me you’ve never rushed into the lava behind the Grawl Shaman, because you call a target and can hardly do anything without losing focus.
Addendum: I think the problem is camera position. As a warrior I’m constantly moving, and attacking, and turning, and strafing. I have my mouse to move my camera, and repositioning the camera removes targetting 95% of the time
JP is sometimes a daily, though, for an extra personalized ToT bag
is this a ‘there are no Charr revenants’ joke I’m not getting?
Playing hardcore fractals is like playing hardcore cof p1.
You’ve not spent a lot of time in the jungle, have you?
Necro’s are still fine. I did a raid yesterday as a reaper, and we still beat VG and Gorseval both just fine, as normal. In fact, we were faster than usual despite having 2 necros in the parties. (both viper builds, 1 necro, 1 reaper)
We didn’t kill sabetha, but we’re honest, we couldn’t kill sabetha before the patch, either.
me walking into that fort: https://fat.gfycat.com/GrandInconsequentialGrouse.webm
It would be nice that “on my mark” gives either the error “no legit target” or functions with auto-targeting
Ogden can then be found in the office next to Trixx.. Grixx.. somethingixx.. and tranton is in the library directly across
Hi guys! I have question about achievement Burden of Choice from Current events. To complete this ach you must speak to Tranton and Ogden, whose are both i Durmand’s library. But if I didn’t have character that joined Durmand Priory during Personal story, I don’t have access to that instance so I can’t speak to them.
Thanks for your help
Not to worry. You can enter the lobby of any order with any character. You can’t get to the VIP area where the armor and weapons merchants are. When regarding story, you can enter the Priory hall on any character. Just walk op the grate on the floor on the left when entering the big archive area (with the spire of tablets floating)
The Durmand Priory is the inner sanctum of the Durmand Priory’s monastery. It is circular, with a library and a classroom in its center, and sleeping quarters, kitchen, research room, and Steward Gixx’s office. Access can be found to the west side of the Heart of the Priory, or by Arcanist Timble if you’re a member of the Durmand Priory.
I agree its strange that it has a cooldown.. but do you really want anet to waste resources on a minor nuisance like this when they dont even have the time progress halloween between season 3 chapters?
Mad King Says can be confusing if:
a) You have the sound off.
b) The NPC hasn’t loaded so you don’t get speech bubbles (this happens if there’s lots of people around).
c) AND you have NPC dialogue turned off in chat. Then the only thing left to tell you what to do is the event UI on the right hand side. Which has ‘Mad King Says….’ as a heading and then displays all the emotes, even the ones you shouldn’t do. There is no way to tell if he’s said Mad King says… or not.
But that’s easy to solve by turning the sound on or turning on NPC dialogue.
Guys, he is trolling. Don’t take him seriously.
I suppose this thread is just a sarcastic comment on this year’s Halloween. You never know these days. A while back someone was seriously confused on the concept of dodging, and it took 3 forum pages to explain it
Then there was the person asking how everyone got “invisible letters” in their character names. Took ages to work out he meant a space and even longer to explain that you just press the space bar.
Thats an actual thing, most online games don’t allow spaces or special symbols at all. So if he was new to GW2, I can understand that he might’ve thought we used a special technique to add spaces
My request is that Anet takes their time this next expansion to make sure the elite specs have a source. How they currently appeared out of nowhere.. it doesn’t just feel odd, some e-specs are so counterintuitive on their class they feel wrong without a proper source. A guardian picking up a longbow. Thats fine, but why? Is the only source that Braham (a guardian) picked up Eir’s longbow in ActII, but only to not use it at all. Or Marjory picking up Belinda Jane’s Greatsword?
I mean, I would like for the next e-specs to require an unlock (only on the first time, to stop the whiny people who hate repeating content) that tells a short story (~2 instances and some outside dialogue) on how the e-spec comes to be.
Suggestion/Example:
Say the next Mesmer becomes a Chaophant, who uses nightmares and terrors.
Dialogue 1: there’s trouble in kessex hills
Instance 1: Toxic Remnants are active. Defend the locals
Dialogue 2: You become accustomed to the nightmares
Instance 2: You get afflicted by the spores, but decide to use the terrors against the Toxic Remnants. During this Instance you have the trait-line and all skills unlocked. This helps you see what abilities you will have after fully unlocking it. Consider it a preview-stage for an E-Spec.
Dialogue 3: You can master the terrors and nightmares. The E-Spec Chaophant is now unlocked.
Reward: Acountwide unlock of the Chaophant on Mesmers, and 15 skill points for that particular character. other mesmers have enough skill points available, but can optionally repeat the story for the 15. (15 is not that much for an e-spec, just a start-up reward)
Pro: It gives a sense of purpose
Con: it takes a little development, but only in writing script. You can use exisiting areas for instances, no need to make new areas.

Are we talking about the Mad King Says or the Ascend to Madness?
In case of MKS: When he says > your mad king says.. KNEEL
then you type /kneel
In case of MKS: when he says > Bow before me.. BOW
do NOT type /bow
Follow his commands, but only if he previously said Mad King Says:
In case of the Ascend to Madness, all you have to do is kill the minions and then the boss. He’s pretty weak. Just watch out for a big AoE circle that can fear you off the platforms. But he doesn’t do much damage, he’s almost soloable with a tanky build
Yea it didn’t make much sense to me either that it was a recipe and not an achievement, but I guess ANet decided that there were too many mats on the TP that were originally designed to be time limited to around Halloween. So this recipe ensures that hundreds more tonics and various other mats are used in greater numbers.
These tonics are new, though. They werent around last year. Maybe anet thought there was a surplus of tattered bat wings
this topic has zero information.
If this is a complain topic, the necro’s are doing fine. people are overreacting. The necro’s are fine. Take a deep breath. Repeat after me
The necros are fine.
Now, people are overreacting, its what people love to do. If there are people barring a necro from groups, let them. If you’re a necro, you’re too good for them.
Necromancer
We feel that necromancers have been faring quite well gamewide, providing play and counterplay in many spots over the last few months. In addition to a couple of minor bug fixes, we wanted to improve the viability of necromancer power builds, which have been somewhat lacking in presence.
Rending Claws: The damage of this ability has been increased by 15%.
Ghastly Claws: The damage of this ability has been increased by 13%.
Unholy Feast: The number of boons converted to conditions has been increased from 1 to 2.
Fading Twilight: The aftercast of this ability has been reduced by 0.11 seconds.
Chilling Scythe: The aftercast of this ability has been reduced by 0.06 seconds.
Death Spiral: The damage of this ability has been increased by 66%.
Blood Is Power: The recharge time of this ability has been reduced from 30 seconds to 20 seconds in PvP only.
Signet of Vampirism: When the Signets of Suffering trait is equipped, this skill will no longer corrupt boons on players who evade it.
Lich Form—Jagged Horrors: These minions will no longer lose health over time and will instead die 30 seconds after they’re summoned.
See, there’s hardly anything I would consider a nerf in here. if anything, this is a list of buffs
The only thing I want fixed on thieves is the fact they can finish people in stealth. Its my bane as a warrior, since hamemr-throw requires targeting. If I play as a guardian, the interrupt is a pulse
what do you gain from that? they can still use black powder, blind you, and/or shadowstep you lol
if youre down is because they down you, fight is over. they either out play you or you made too many mistakes.
Its a specific thing because all other classes I can interupt their finisher until the cooldown is off my skill 3.
And my only mistake was thinking PvP was a fun place to be
I just wished the warrior’s skill 3 got a makeover. its practically useless. Either something’s weak enough to finish off. Or its so strong it finished you off before the spawn-cooldown is off of it.
He’s being silly. As a PC you don’t heed the call of mordremoth.
If you like dagger/pistol on thief, do pistol dagger for your other weapoon set. the #3 skills on each do the opposite of the other in terms of movement (one brings you into melee, the other jumps you back out to ranged). It’s a fun build.
Glad you like the scepter pistol mesmer. It’s my current build for that. let me know if you need any help with it.
I’m not silly! I really heard it! I went to the Maguuma and I heard the call!
A sylvari what, tho?
hmm.. I think Guardians have a strong will power, they might not be easily swayed. But it doesn’t matter, since you only want to HEAR the call. Whether or not you’ll listen to it, is another thing
Like some minigames/activities (like that of those in Heart of Thorns maps) instead of the grindfest in Labyrinth (which sucks due to DR) and Ascent of the Mad King, or The Mad King Says… which was initially fun but subsequently becomes another daily chore.
Haven’t tried the jumping puzzle but doubt that’ll be any fun anyways.
Any event will eventually become a grind.
Mad King Says was originally an ACTUAL EVENT
Labyrinth was originally an ACTUAL EVENT
If anet makes a new ACTUAl EVENT it will be great fun year 1. People will enjoy it year 2, and during year 3 you will post you want an ACTUAL EVENT.
do you see what I’m getting it?
Can’t say I had noticed. I labie’d for almost 3 hours and my bags kept on filling up. Then again, I took ocassional 5 minute breaks. maybe that was enough to break the DR.
Warrior: “On my mark!” (Itself has limited use…)
On my mark is a .. decent skill. I sometimes run it if I’m in an area with healthsponges or a lot of veteran mobs. it does help. its just a lot of times I also have other skills I need which are just better.
If it’s anything, On My Mark now has an effect in pvp, wheras you cannot stealth while affected by it. May help hunting thieves and mesmers
Time and time again, there are nerfs and people would get kittened and say enough is enough and quit, including myself.
Yet, they never really seem to do. Remember when the warrior got nerfed into the ground and there were like a 100 topics “I’m gonna quit GW2 if this gets through”
Guess where those people are? right, still in GW2, and still playing a warrior.
People love to whine about nerfs, rebalances, but in the end, you play for a week and you forget all about it, because the game is so kittening easy you can cut everyone in half and we’re still gods walking on a mortal planet
A heart event where you take care of Pocket Raptors!
There isn’t a real reason to choose one race of another if not for asthaetics.
That said, Engi’s look cooler on Asura’s and Charr, Rangers on Norn and Sylvari, and Guardians look good on any race, even Asura.
Alas, for what you describe the warrior is the best. Maybe you can consider the necromancer, too. It’s a lot of fun to play
I am, most of the patch notes were positive changes. A LOT of cooldowns got reduced and a lot numbers got increased. The patch note 75% positive upkeep.
Step 1: Make a sylvari
Step 2: Get to level 80
Step 3: Go to the Heart of Maguuma
Step 4: HEAR THE CALL!
‘as if there ever was a raid diversity’
I had this in PvE once. I was knocked back, and I just kept flying, sliding over the mountains, piercing through walls if it was to steep to glide up, and I just kept flying back until I fell off the map, hit a loading screen, and was suddenly on a different map.
I don’t get all the huff. For the most, a lot of classes got better by having a lot of cooldowns reduced. necro power got upped, warrior axes got upped. I saw very few ‘negative’ changes in the patch notes. There a few increased cooldowns or reduced numbers, but for the most part, they will decreases cooldowns and increased damage multipliers.
No, it really isn’t. The limitations of your knowledge don’t define the world around you.
sigh…..
fine, you wanna feel entitled to content, feel free to do so. i’m done here..
Is it just me or did everything become easy this year? All bosses dead without trouble on the first run, and I completed what feels like 80-85% of all the achievement tracks
The only thing I want fixed on thieves is the fact they can finish people in stealth. Its my bane as a warrior, since hamemr-throw requires targeting. If I play as a guardian, the interrupt is a pulse
Ascent to Madness removed.
Mad memories scavenger hunt removed.
Reapers Rumble removed.
Lunatic Inquisition removed.
The Reliquary story content and other story pieces have been removed. What they have added, gem store purchases, few minis and a few tonics.
Arena Net need to get their priorities right, something seems very wrong here.
Ascent to Madness is still very much there? Its opposite of the Labyrinth Door
Thank you, anet, this looks absolutely awesome!
But I have a gripe I like to voice. Since it requires the 3 other endless halloween tonics, which are already very costly to make, why is that? I get you would want it to require the 3 endless tonics, but wouldn’t an achievement make more sense, a collection that rewards the wraith tonic?
The endless tonics take a lot of gold to craft (3*10 tattered bat wings at 5g each) so losing them for the wraith seems like a really hars trade-off. Especially when you consider that the update only costs a 4th permanent halloween enchantment, which is 1 corn cob.
So now, if I want the wraith and the 3 endless tonic, I have need 60 tattered bat wings and 1000 of every tonic. is this the intended design?
First off, content is relevant the moment we can access it. The content in Cursed Shore is no less relevant to someone who didn’t do the story than to someone who did do it.
Second, plenty of games have free exploration.
I can only call Skyrim, GTA and World of Warcraft on the top of my head. All other games I ever played unlocked the content as you get through it.
In GTA and Skyrim, the world effectively changes, so you’ll notice if you get somewhere before the story takes you there. And in World of Warcraft you have phasing, so if you move that to GW2, you would see an abandoned fort without upkeep if you get to the fort before the story takes you there. hence, anomaly still in tact
Class holiday visual effect themes for Gems

It would be cool, but it would also be more effort than I trust anet with. They were making good progress this year, but considering no progress on the Mad King’s story means that LWS3 is draining all their resources. While I would love class or racial pve-visuals, I fear it would come at the cost of LWS progress
It looks like the mystery has been solved. And primordisu would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for us meddling kids!
The mad king says: do not make topics that start no dialogue other than the wish to rant or complain.
But your water anolagy isnt sound. By your anolagy, you could dig a well and use the water(magic) but the magic inside a dragon is the last kind of magic a living creature wants to touch. Even a pendant with a faint aura was corrupted enough to turn loyal soldiers into undead.
I think the water table analogy is fine, but the comparisons are wrong. Leylines are clearly the underground rivers of magic that can be tapped into, so the magic the dragons are eating is more akin to evaporation. The magic gets absorbed into the “sky” (read: dragons) and can’t be used by the creatures on the ground, but once the dragon falls asleep, it starts releasing a steady rain of magic that either fills the air or pools into the leylines.
Also, nothing says that the magic being consumed by the dragons is being corrupted. The only corrupting dragons do is to the living being itself, not the magic. I don’t know how that line of thinking got started, so stop it. Right now.
Magic that is inside dragons or released by dragons is corrupted. That was a point in several personal story chapters. Until the magic is restored in ‘some’ way its bad for people.
To be clear, it’s not confirmed, or even suggested, that dragons naturally corrupt. That analogy is a bit misleading. Instead, it seems that the corruption is a conscious, deliberate choice, one they have a fair measure of control over.
It’d probably be more apt to compare them to the water cycle. Rain falls and gets locked up in the ground, then evaporates off and reforms into clouds, all according to the natural rhythm, but while it’s on the ground a thinking being and tap it and redirect it to achieve something that wouldn’t happen naturally. Substitute water for magic and dragons for the ground, and you’re set.
I didnt say all dragons corrupt magic. The Elder Dragons corrupt magic. They taint, rot, break it down to a most unstable, undesired form. A magic that can only rot away the soul, a magic that can only break down, a magic that taints any creatures it passes through.
But your water anolagy isnt sound. By your anolagy, you could dig a well and use the water(magic) but the magic inside a dragon is the last kind of magic a living creature wants to touch. Even a pendant with a faint aura was corrupted enough to turn loyal soldiers into undead.
I think the outfit is amazing overall*, but that mask as a standalone would be excellent.
*I reserve the right to withdraw my opinion if the female version turns out to be half-naked
Human female looked the same (only femalish)
But why should we consider it appropriate to burden a game that used to have no story-gating to exploration at all, with well… story-gating.
I’ve never heard anyone complain that they could visit a completely equiped Fort Trinity that had members of a Pact that hadn’t even been formed. You know why? Because the people who find that sort of thing immersion-breaking can chose not to play the game that way. Like they used to say: “Play the way you want”.
Breaking this mould made no one any happier but sure made some people less happy.
People just made a norm of an anomaly, thats all
Anomaly? That word has no meaning that applies to this situation, so I have no idea what you mean by that.
I consider it an anomaly that we have access to content of the game thats not relevant until a much later stage. Not a lot of games have that.. not a lot at all, hence, an anomaly. A deviation.
Nope, rolled a warrior on day 1 and still love till today!
