The first play is the for the story, future plays are for achievements.
This is no longer the case in LS3.
Its not a bug, just a minor annoyance. But for the most part, on your first playthrough you really should just relax and enjoy the story. its really good if you take the time. Worry about achievements when you return. Quite a lot of them are pretty hard if you don’t know what you’re doing, some achievements will really take you several tries, too
EDIT: This is not an acountwide unlock. Every character needs to unlock a chapter individually for achievements. So I suggest you choose a character you’re comfortable with on your first playthrough
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
Maybe they should scale difficulty based on your character: each character can have a “rating” made up of things like gear, finished Specialization, progress of Masteries, whether they do Fractals, Raid, PvP and maybe ranking, etc. Those players who have Ascended gear, capped Masteries, who do PvP, etc. are going to find things easier than people who have none of those things. Then scale the reward based on the character rating.
I can understand that certain players enjoy very challenging content but clearly other players don’t. Trying to balance content for everyone leaves those at either end of the scale unhappy.
That wouldnt be too bad an idea. NPC value = PC value * (sum:armor)(sum:weapons)
Sum:armor would be white.blue.green.yellow.orange.pink 1-6, same with weapons
Twohanded sets average the quality. So, someone wielding a bluegreen swords with yellow+pink axe.shield be in full ascended armor would be (6.0+(3.5+5.5))*80
And enemies can adjust themselves to that value
My current problem is, that most people dont respond when I ask them what their AR is, or they make a bit deal out of walking through that spark saying ‘just start the kitten fractal already’
And then I get kicked for not pressing ready in the queue..
So all in all, the current mechanic is actually protecting people with Agony Defficiency
Image says all
It doesn’t I’m afraid, can you elaborate?
I think the OP is suggesting that since he or she has 0/0 of all POIs, Vistas and Waypoints, then he or she has 100% Lion’s Arch mapped completely already upon visiting. So they want their transmutation charge and XP for it.
Edit: i.e. it’s a funny joke.
ayup, that was it, but its a consistent bug, though, everytime I boot my pc and load a zone for the first time it always displays 0/0 on everything. if I reboot the game it remembers the numbers, but if I reboot my pc, it resets back to 0/0. I never bothered to report it since it doesnt do any harm, but it gives some funny thoughts
So I was thinking, sometimes after a while, I manage to get a full black lion ticket.
Now, lately, there hasn’t been much of value of in the weapons trading post, and all the good skins are so old they cost 5 tickets by now, which is kind of insane.
So I was thinking, now that the stormbow came out, I thought, hey, thats a nice skin.
And it so happens I have a black lion ticket that I won’t be spending on any of the current BL-weapon skins anytime soon. So here’s my idea, and please don’t shoot it down without proper counter argument:
Exchange a black lion ticket for anything from the cosmetics tab of the Black Lion store with a gem value of, but not exceeding, 600 gems.
This seems like a fair trade since it costs averagely 20-25 keys to make 1 ticket, which at its most expensive equivates 20*125=2500 gems.
What’s the public opinion on this idea?
And this happened:

Whelp, Lions Arch looked fine, Lobby looked fine, and now the swmap instance looks like this…….
But seriously though, have any devs noticed that /surrender is an extremely handy tool, which makes it a real kick in the gut to limit it to raids.
It was too unfocused for me. I think they need to add a group dungeon to each of their living story episodes or something else than just a new map to farm and never-ending dialogues, it’s not like we don’t have enough of that.
That’s something I miss about the old Fire & Frost era of Living Story. And now that Arah story scales to party size, that’s a concept that can extend to new dungeon development.
It might not need a full set of explorable paths, but a story run and 5-man run would add some extra content. Granted, Fractals are the 5-man content now so.. probably not going to see LS-related dungeons that aren’t raids anymore.
that was exactly their problem with LS1, the minidungeons where a hella lotta work to make, driving some devs insane, and it didnt help that half of those minidungeons where later thrown in the bin. The only path thats still intact is the Toxic Arbor, which is now a path in the sylvari dungeon
Almost everyone criticizing the OP is basically telling him the same thing:
“You’re playing the game wrong.”
When GW2 first came out, many people came here because they were tired of hearing that – and definitely tired of games and developers that supported that kind of attitude.
It’s a game. Tell people “you’re playing it wrong” too many times and I don’t think they will keep playing – especially when you have taken the exact opposite approach for years. It’s time someone at Anet started remembering that again.
Thats not the point in endgame, or rather, top tier content. This is meant to be the hardest content requiring the most preperation. Having the right gear and builds is part of that preperation. Intentionally not going with that’s suggested is the same as going on a trip to sahara, ignoring everyone’s suggestion of brining enough water.
You know beforehand that raids require ample preparation, and then intentionally not do that. If you don’t want to do something that requires that level of awareness, there’s always fractals T1 through 4 which are alot more forgiving in freestyle
We’ll probably see something in the beginning of November after Halloween. If not by then, we’ll have to wait until the end of January.
They won’t do holiday events and LS together so it releasing with Halloween or Wintersday is out of the question.
Hot and halloween came out together. Its the first time its a question so you cant really say that
Well it was an expansion and not a LS release but I guess we’ll see later this year.
I’m just saying that either way is just speculation. LS won’t come out with halloween, there’s no evidence to suggest either notion, so its really just 50/50

Events dont give them,
I thought all the meta events (including the pre-meta chains) drop LL crystals.
Did a LOT of events without ever earning a single LL crystal, so either it’s bugged, or you only get some at the end of each line and the Big Boss Chack
Its the downed hostile icon, you see in pvp or when you down a toxic court.
Wow, I must never have seen the entire icon, because I never caught the similarity. (It looked familiar, but as you can see from my quote, I couldn’t place it.)
Now that it’s mentioned, yes, it’s that icon… Problem is, you hardly ever see it, as you have to click that device from your storage and then your storage page is blocking the view… Which is why it took me till Friday or so to even see that something actually showed… (I always wondered if mine was broken…)
If you don’t pvp, the only times you’ll ever see the icon is if you kill courtiers in Kessex Hills. (god I miss those times), kinda sad they discontinued that mechanic. I think it would really add a new depth to some fights if they added downed state.
Fight a white mantle group, down one guy, focus on another, then return to finish guy one off but.. BOOM, he’s been helped up by a buddy
Now that I know their upload schedule, I’m taking the time to finish some other games.
lately I haven’t done much but grinding collections waiting for new stuff. Just got Legion, that’ll keep me busy till halloween

When i farm VB or AB i get tons of tokens, but Ive yet to discover a reliable source for leyline crystals. Events dont give them, and cryst.chests give5-10 over more than 10 chests (eg. Chack scid 10x translate to less than 25 tokens)
The Unbroken and Eternity’s Guard were the other options. They all sound dumb to me. Eternity’s Guard would fit some time-traveling Dr. Who wannabes, and The Unbroken… well, I’d rather be unbroken than broken, but it doesn’t have much to do with anything, does it?
Well, blind Zojja, comatose Logan, Eir pushing up the vinewraths (daisies sound so lame for a cool norn), I think we should be called the Broken Beyond Repair

hello i am trying to finish raid run to unlock masterys.
players kick you with no reason
players leaving in half run
what is the problem troubles you all ?
lets talk about it saw we.
i am trying to finish raid 1 month and still trying
Players propably dont kick you for no reason. When you’re making novice mistakes, you won’t know you’re making them but veterans will notice.
Lets go over your position:
Are you a Dps? If so, you do supply enough fury and might, domyou actively deal damage, and do you use to the sugegsted meta? Now, meta isnt necessarily the best, but its a meta for a reason.
Are you a condi? If so, do you use the right skills and traits. Especially as a condi traits are impeative because they control more than half of what you really do.
Are you the tank? Do you know where to move the boss, do you know when to do what when a boss phases, or moves around
Are you a healer? If so, are people constantly downing, is the tank annoyed because he has to look after this own health more than is he is meant to, reducing his tankability.
I urge you to read some guides so you wont make novice mistakes and use optimalized builds. After that, its practice. Also, people leave when they notice that a boss doesnt reach certain thresholds. For example, if the VG hasnt split by 2:30 theres not much point in continuing unless you have a good healer for the bosses’ rampage.

I do have a legendary because I once found a permanent hair contract which I traded for a Dawn with like 80-90% of the mats to forge it into a Leg

bruh, do you even play games?
Ff stories are not meant to provide a challenge, then why don’t they just go make movies?
Seriously though, there’s a difference between difficulty and lazyness.Even though its probably pointless to explain, I’ll try. The main storyline of a game is never tuned to be the most difficult content even if, in the lore, they are the perceived as the strongest. This is done so that everyone can experience the story that they paid for. The only games that have truly challenging story content are games that have nothing else to offer afterwards.
The first thing any player does is play the story and as such it should be tuned towards a beginner player while steadily building in difficulty to prepare them for the optional end game content. Personally i think they did well to keep it achievable by all yet not entirely boringly easy.
Outwith GW2, you can see this is many games such as Final Fantasy where the toughest enemies are usually side quests and as such not the big bad guy in the story. Yet i guess they are just “movies” to you too.
The fact you call it “too casual” shows you do not understand what Anet set out to achieve in GW2 anyway. If raids and fractals are too hard for you I suggest you try dungeons for some more difficult story content.
I agree on you with the part that the storyline should always be the easiest content, which it currently is. My gripe hasnt been very well.. Or rather quite poorly, worded.
How to explain why I brought this up.
So there’s the personal story, easy peezy, anyone can faceroll through it. Then was living world season 1, slightly harder bosses, I remember taking many tries on the molten duo before he was nerfed into oblivion. At this stage I would say anet made it hail and people had to build huts to survive. Next up came season 2, a bit wavering difficulty, but on the whole, it was upped. People had to fortify their shelters into bunkers to survive the burning hail.
Next up, comes HoT, people who dont rebuild their bunkers into fortresses wont survive. HoT was going to be the hardest content at that time. And it was accepted because their was a buildup to it. No one went from character creation to the Dragons Stand when they first bought the game.
Fast forward to season 3, most people have adapted to the no-slack mentality of HoT, and prepared their fortresses for the next season. While expecting a fight with punishing attacks and a no-slack boss fight I got.. Wait.. Is this thing even attacking me??
Do you see what I mean, when I started gw2 I accepted it was easy, then the difficulty slowly kept cranking up, until I found Mawdreamoth (see what I did there) a fair challenge. Then comes the white mantle.. Sorry, let me rephrase that:
White Mantle Happy Summer Adventure Island
So in difficulty curve we go from
PS. 1.0
LS1. 1.8
LS2. 2.3
HoT. 2.6
LS3. 1.0
See, we were being prepared for this curve, and then suddenly, the curve resets.
There has been a new raid and a new fractal added recently for “hard” content. Try high level fractals or raids for some difficult content. Either that or go true hardcore and only do it in white starter gear with no traits lol.
Living world instances should never be hard or even remotely so, as their main purpose is the story and lore in general. Gating the main storyline behind any forced difficulty wall would be unfair to those who are not as skilled at the game.
TLDR you are looking for challenging content in all the wrong places. Story and open world is meant to be accessible to all not just incredible pro players like yourself.
bruh, do you even play games?

Even though its weird, I think its working as intended. Bloodstone glowth has been seen through stuff prior to this
Bug Fix
Fixed an issue in which using the /resign command at certain points in the Keep Construct fight would cause it to not reset.
But not
Bug Fix
Fixed an issue where /surrender and /resign do not work in dungeons and fractals.
Thief if you no interest in actually playing the game. Necro if you do wanna play the game. Im not saying I personally dislike the thief, its just that it has gotten so many backlashes lately you’ll be autokicked from many group contents because you’ll be filling a slot of someone who can provide more dps or support.
Playable LS1 is impossible to do because ANet would need to change look of Lion’s Arch.
Rebuilding of ‘Tower of Nightmares’ in Kessex Hills and the replay of Queen’s Jubilee are
impossible to make.
LS1 is nothing if we cannot take part of the Twisted Marionette or the Battle for Lion’s Arch’ events.ANet will continue next updates for LS3 and making LS1 again is a waste of time.
If you want to know something about LS1, ANet gave ‘Remembering Scarlet’s War’.
This is possible by making a secondary universe of maps thats accessible through a portal or something, but it’d still be tremendous effort
Calm quaggans are annoying pieces of skritt (see what I did there) but when it comes to survivability as a species, they have this weird tantrum ability
so its a failure b/c u didnt get it done on the first day? lol. Plenty of us have done it already, maybe raid is a failure too consider how many ppl cant get past first boss.
Amazing how times a whole story can go 10,000 miles over someone’s head.
I’ll put it in laymen’s terms for you:
The problem is that you don’t know if it’s still gonna spawn. How do you know you’re (not) on a map that has(n’t) already killed it before you arrived. We don’t know if it the beast can respawn, so who is gonna put in the effort if they don’t even know the BSC mob can even spawn on that mapAgain, from the patch notes:
Current Events: Levvi’s Device has been updated to indicate when a legendary bloodstone-crazed creature has recently been killed in the map.
And how does it indicate that?
If your camera angle is just so, when you’re on a map with a dead target, there’s a big red … NO.NO.NO symbol (maybe it’s an X? a universal anti sign? a cosmic auntie sign? i dunno; it’s obvious that it’s not the same as the other ‘minis’)
So the updated functionality is much better… and still not very useful or easy to use.
Its the downed hostile icon, you see in pvp or when you down a toxic court.
All in all, if difficulty cant be pummeled up in boss fights, there are other ways to make at least feel like an enemy is threating by pumping out minions. Then the difficulty lies in organizing your skills and dodges for a longer battle while making it look like your enemy isnt a solo guy. Be honest, who here thought the white mantle was bigger than a 20 man squad. And if they’ve been lurking around since GW1, no way they’d have just 1 or 2 jade constructs. Either that or they’ve been lazy beyond excuse.
Look,
When people say things are too easy, they make them too hard for everyone else who thought it was normal, or hard. So please, just get over the fact it’s easier. You’d think that might make you happy… y’know.. to have something easy to do?
The problem is, it takes from the story if its too easy, The dragons, Lazarus, the White Mantle, they’re supposed to feel like threats. But what if the average devourer you meat in the Kessex Hills is more dangerous than a White Mantle Zealot.. then how am I supposed to take them seriously?
Meh, not too bugged by it. But I’ll support it if it mutes those balthazar-be-kittened o’tron backpacks.
But maybe have something like the miniatures, who gets hidden when a map peaks on crowding. When its not extremely crowded, people wanna show off their backpacks. Especially the legendary’s a hard earned glory
Pods have a small chance, metachest has a guaranteed drop. Just do meta, opening all pods along the way, that way you can make up t 3, but at least 1 weapon per run
Who wants ceasar salad, guys?
The device works now,
@James Quall, you radiate sarcasm, intentionally or not
If you dye’d it. It would cease to be a bloodstone visage
It seems to work now, there’s a red downed icon (the hostile downed) over the slayn creature.
They reyposted the same message while dashing out the old six minutesvago, so I guess they had another look at it
Patch notes say that the device will now show if the BSC creature has already bern killed on your map. This is not yet in effect ingame.
Asked several people to confirm. Device continued to display Moa after we killed a Moa on said map.

Thanks for the headsup, but it doesn’t work (yet), the device still displays the moa on a map that’s killed the moa already.

Achievements determine your progress, and at any point, you can decide you’ve completed the map.
Events can be tracked on a number of sites. For example, http://gw2timer.com/
That was not my point, albeit thank you for the link, i didn’t know of that website that.
The problem is, you don’t know if a map can respawn a bloodstone crazed mob, and if it can’t, how do you know it wasn’t alreadu killed before, nor how do you know how much you have left to kill before it spawns.
Also, I fail to understand why you bring up achievements. That has nothing to do with the current Bloodstone Crazed ‘current event’, there are no achievements that help you keep track on the Current Event event statuses, nor any other event status for that matter. all you have is a machine that tells you which zones are currently active, thats all.
Also, your link does display the sliver routes, but I can’t seem to find anything about the BSC monsters on it.. it seems stuck on the leyline anomaly guide
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
with 150 people we’re hunting down the arctodus, everyone spread out over the map, hunting them down, killing them by the dozens. At some point we start to question.. is the thing even ever gonna spawn. Then some people start mumbling ‘maybe it won’t respawn after all’
So here are the gripes of the event:
- Effort to find an active map
- No indication of progress
- No indication of fruitfullness
First you have to be on a map with plenty of other people to hunt down the beasts. Thats doable now, but later, maybe not so much, we don’t know how it scales.
Secondly, you don’t know how many more you have to kill, without an indication, maybe people start to leave the event area after a few kills thinking it already happened, or maybe bugged out, and after they leave the mob spawns, woe them.
And thirdly, we don’t even know if the mobs can respawn, if they don’t, whether or not they’ve already been killed.
TLDR; there are no indications whether or not you’re making progress at all, nor how much.
Suggestion: Add an orange map-event box to these zones (when its time) in which a progress icon is displayed:
- The BSC Shark is resting, it does not seem agitated.
- The BSC Shark is aware of the hunt, its getting anxious
- The BSC Shark is extremely agitated, it may pop up pick out unwary travelers, beware!
At best a cross-continental version of an existing species. something that wouldn’t have to do much with the species’ build. right now the Asura look like they evolved straight from amphibian to mammal, but what if somewhere else the asura evolved slower.
similar form, more muscle and dry skin, less brain. No need to tweak with armor models, which seems to be the worst contestor for a new race. The wardens of Cantha look pretty human, except they’re made of .. well.. literally the world and the forests. So they need to make a model thats half human, half sylvari half earth elemental, and then they can just slab the existing human models of armor on them.
Maybe instances should have an achievement mode and a story mode.
The story mode obviously allowing people to progress the story.
And an achievement mode for actual difficulty and associated challenges.
Achievement 1: Defeat Caudecus and his merry band of pink ponies and bloodstonecrazed Social justice Warriors
Achievement 2: Defeat Caudecus, Cthullu, Bloodstone-devourer and a few chickens from the Ebon Fort within 5 minutes on Hero Mode
do you have a source on that what MoB said?
In another light, maybe current events are a good mechanic to replay ‘some’ LS1 events, like the marionette (which I missed out on entirely)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a new item based on Dragonite ore or Empyreal fragments for future episodes
maybe in future seasons, but bloodstone was this whole season’s thing, not until we move away to a different area will we stop using bloodstones. Since there was a red barrier at the north side of the map I predict that next (or 3rd) chapter will unlock the second half of the map with more bloodstone currencies
There won’t be another section in Bloodstone Fen. We can already get map completion for the zone. Dry Top was specifically left without a completion reward until it was “done”. Not the case here. It’ll be a second new map for future story stuff, if anything.
I agree. The Devs stated (in the latest Guild Chat) that all the available (World) map area (in that vicinity) was used for the Bloodstone Fen. I don’t believe it will be expanding.
I don’t use reddit, so 99.99% of what anet says goes past me (official forums, heeeeey, not neglected at all)
I just assumed more would come due to the energy-barrier in that zone. But if a dev stated no further progress, then I’m cool with that. I wished they did something with the mineshaft below in the back of the maw, though

[Amaimon.7823:]There’s a whole lotta heat below the shiverpeaks, though, google “primordus”[/quote]He’s not that close. The Depths of Tyria that span the continent are thousands of feet underground – and that would be at the elevation of Kryta and Ascalon, so only a few dozen feet above sea level at most, and the Shiverpeaks are 10,000 feet higher than their surrounding landscapes (Kryta and Ascalon) in average elevation.
Even Primordus’ molten ‘primordial fire’ that burns through fire will not give off enough heat that would travel that far through stone.

To the best of my recollection, the Central Transfer Chamber was pretty close to yaks bend, let me see if there’s still a map out there. No high quality maps, sadly, but woodenpotatoes’ gw2 and gw1 overlay map make it clear that you practically walk over the central transfer chamber when you first walk from Ascalon to the Iron Horse Mines
But you are right about him being deep, until the great dwarf is the ex-dwarf he propably wont affect the surface much. There are a destroyer heart events in the shiverpeaks, though, but I suppose they’re scraps/strays
