Look, all this bickering in this forum is going nowhere
The gist is:
People organize to get a lot of loot from opening chests in many map copies.
To keep this organized they have a set of rules.
The problem here is, the OP things a group is toxic when OP doesn’t want to follow the rules.
So, I suggest to OP, join a group and follow their rules, or make your own group with your own rules.
Don’t join a group, not follow the rules, and then complain you get kicked.
As to everyone else, you can argue whether or not the ML thing is bad for the economy, is greedy or whatever, but thats not the point here. The point of this topic is, OP didn’t follow rules, got kicked for it, and then complained.
while I would like for some visual adjustments to skills, I dont think functional skill changes should be added. GW1 was fun because of the build-building, but what I learned was that more options dont necessarily means better options.
As for visual changes, I remember in wow, destruction warlocks have red fire. But if they carry a tome of the lost legion, all that fire turns green. Thats the kind of thing I’d love to see here. Maybe a guardian carrying the bloodstone backpack will have all their blue light turnt red.. or different animations for ele-elementals and necro-minions
Well that is just how GW2 is now, sadly there are more toxic players than previously. I have also seen since the release of HoT more bad commanders than good, or just many that put up the tags but can’t command and when things go bad tag down and abandon.
what do you mean, ‘its how it is now, sadly’
Nothing’s changed, the auric basin is the same as before, people working together to get it done. In fact, now that the Multiloot Lobby-ing has become a thing, there are more servers with successful Vine kills than ever before.
In the first days you had to be lucky to get into 1 of the 1 to 3 maps that actually tried, let alone succeeded in it. now you have 8-12 maps that clear it. All thanks to an organized group that spreads itself out over these maps.
It goes directly against the game arenanet wanted to create and the casual open world experience.
I wouldn’t call it casual if the whole map has to work together and communicate to succeed.
Actually, its the opposite, its the game anet designed to give players greater freedom, which includes the freedom to multiboot with strict rules. And be honest, if uou join a group and break their rules.. Why complain here to anet?
The golem is a great, qualitative benchmarking tool. If your toon is getting 8k and my toon is getting 4k, we can be reasonably sure I have a lot of room to improve (or I better be bringing some excellent utility to make up for my DPS deficit).
I think golems are just intended to help guide theory crafting, not to establish exact values. And that seems just fine, to me, for this game.
Agreed, you can compare two identical players with each other to see which rotations are best, or which player has better cooldownpushing.
But it helps very little when organizing group content or content with mobile/gimmicky bosses
We’ll never see a new race as long as people whine about trivial little things like clipping issues
Ive yet to encounter a toxic ML lobby. If im too slow to get in a 2-3+ lobby then I get kicked which is fair. If I afk during the wait I get kicked is fair. But Ive had plent of times where I slacked heavily and wasnt kicked. So maybe youve just had unlucky ML lobbies, but most of the times, the ones I meet are just strict, far from toxic
What profession (and spec combo) is best for harvesting node? In other words, any way to make a character particularly fast, without speed boosterS?
Warriors can rush forward. And guardians have two shouts that give speed
The silver fed kit is the most expensive form of salvaging. You only pay for the convenience that you never have to buy kits again and it takes only 1 inventory slot. NEVER worth it, not in any circumstance
Maybe here’s an idea. Fractal T3+ and raids give a dps notice like the golem does at the end of the fight. Purely personal, and optional through the settings.
So, they merged all these Scythe Burntsloth posts into one big pile, but didnt bother to leave a one sentence comment : “its working as intended” or “its bugged, were fixing it”
Confirmed, but I’m more concerned about the fact it makes you see red with blootstone rage in first person mode. (And bowstrings while I’m bringing this up anyway).
why… if you go to bed… and want to be logged out… dont you just log out… turn off your pc… and go to bed…
you go to bed… wanting to log out… so you leave the pc with the game on running…
what… I don’t even…….
There are currently two glitches that I’m aware of in first person mode.
I never made a notice of it, since the first never really applied to me, but now with the second, I think I will:
When in first person mode, and holding a Long or Short bow sheathed (nto drawn) you will see the string over your screen as you run around. Having a stripe over your screen as you run really isn’t a thing I’m looking out for. Current fix is unequiping a bow while not on the battlefield, or always running around drawn (although it will auto-sheathe after 15 seconds)
Secondly, the new Red Bloodstone Sight. Apart from the glitch that you can see the glowth through the head of the wears, you can also see it floating in front of you in first person mode, kind of making first person mode impossible when wearing the bloodstone eyes. Having two red glowing orbs filling up your screen isn’t a thing I’m looking out for. No possible fix other than hiding them when in first person mode…
Likewise, there’s a thin white line around your own profile.. good luck seeing that in the heat of battle
AB Multiloot:
Before AB meta starts, join a squad that divides over as many servers as possible. Join one, aid in the conquest, and pick your fruits.
Fractals:
Dont underestimate the fractals, the unopened boxes are worth 20-30s and the matrices needed for the backpack are worth more than mystic coins.
Clear the dailies on T2 or T3 for the most optimal reward, T1 isn’t much to brag about, and T4 is only worth it if you’re confident in your skills.
Going back to the previously mentioned, I think the next LS is going to include more areas being revealed in the Maguuma Jungle (Mursaat) or perhaps a trip across the sea to the Ring of Fire (Primordus). Okay, I’ll admit the bit about the Ring of Fire is probably just wishful thinking.
Primordus has zero association with the Rings of Fire, thats where the Gate of Komalie (keeping the titans sealed) was.
Primordus was until now a statue sleeping next to the Central Transfer Chamber almost right next to Yak’s Bend, only deep below the ground. Destroyers can be found all through the depths of the shiverpeaks, possibly competing with the Icebrood at some points, tunneling all the way to the Maelstrom. In fact, there’s even a possibly he’ll emerge in the far north to compete with Jormag directly
Your personal icon is slightly different (a border and a bit of a white faded are) but it could be much more obvious.
I checked this morning, my icon is 100% exactly the same as all the others :/
Tried messing with the settings, but nothing seems to change it. maybe you imagined it?
the first 2 days can be acounted to the rollback. but if it didn’t move today then assume its a weekly move
I’m really happy with the squad system, and it really helps organize big events.
There’s only thing I’m asking for. A way to quickly find yourself.
There’s two ways to do this:
*Make a seperate slot for yourself, always locking your own icon in the front of a squadgroup
*Make the personal icon different, by for example making the background yellow or orange instead of green
Or maybe the rollback somehow broke the NPC’S timing.
it propably did, but that was tuesday, its now thursday post-time, so if it did reset the day, it should’ve moved by now. Therefore, it propably is a weekly move
The problem was, people loved it the first time. But it was generating too much loot, so they completely cut ALL loot, making it a ghost-slamming event. People felt unrewarded and started shaming the pit.
Anet should’ve just lowered the loot, not completely remove it.
I think it’s safe to say; if the hasn’t moved by this evening, then it’s propably gonna be next tuesday
Normally i would disagree, because i am in the camp of people who think that players should figure stuff out on their own. Espeacially in MMOs.
But in this case, the rollback might have made things more confusing for this event, so a clarification would be nice
There’s a difference between figuring stuff out and waiting around for god knows for god knows how long.
What I mean is, I liked the scavenger hunt. Figuring out how the device worked and then chasing the magics, that was a good kind of event. But figuring something out is only meaningfull if your train of thought has a starting point.
A dev knows thos, but a dev does not tell a player. A player remains in the unknown.
A man really wants to know when a charr moves.
4 days to unlock the TP with small value transactions, which increase over time. 7 days to unlock mailing with only text and free items. And a month before you can mail money or items with monetary value. I too got a new acount during the 50% off period, but I can mail mystic coins because they dont have monetary value, but not yet money or any crafting materials. Until you’ve crossed 30 or 31 days you cant mail a single copper
Events like these where you know nothing are kinda bad. I mean, we could wait for the next reset, and the next, and for all we know the moving could be each tuesday patch, or worse, biweekly, or even worse yet, monthly.
“Play however you want, but we exactly here on a specific time of which we do not tell you when”
Still in frostgorge sound, might be weekly.. or even worse.. biweekly
‘I think we got them all here, meet me in Highpass Haven’
two days later: still in frostgorge sound.
bugged, broken or just lazy beyond repair?
áááááááááánd… they’ve turnt it into a gold-grind.. of course.. because was is more epic a journey than grinding gold and buying the items…………..
Actually, the right way to hold them is one in front, and one in backwards, because you use one to either clamp the enemies weapons, and then use the other for a strike from below, or from above depending on which one is free. You have to think fast on which you think will be the most effective, and then use the other pick to block or grapple the enemy or their weapon.
A strike from below would enter the gut, and be a slow and very painful death, a strike from above would be between the neck and shoulder hitting an artery, or going straight for the head if its not protected.
Either way, having them face both forward, or alternately, but not both backward
The birthdays are to the minute. So it will show 1459 until the clock ticks over, which means it still could be today but be off by a few hours or even only a few minutes.
ah, you’re right, I just got it.. never mind
Last year I was absolutely positive my 3 oldest chars were made exactly at headstart plus a couple of minutes. It turned out that I had remade 2 them and forgotten. Maybe yours is bugged, but maybe you remade and forgot. .
no, I have 12 characters, 11 of them have been remade several times.
But Nikeita, my main warrior, was made on day 1, hour 1 and never changed/remade, of that I’m 100% positive. because of the headstart that character has sentimental value, and I would propably delete my acount if I ever got hacked and it got deleted. Its not much, but I like to add value to the little things
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
It was leap year this year, so birthdays are going to be a day earlier from now on.
That still shouldn’t matter when your acount is made on the very first day of the three day headstart. Any chronological change after that should apply to everyone and not only to some people.
But a fair reparation would be a title for the affected people:
Vault Dweller
since we’ve been frozen in time
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
So, my main character Nikeita was made in the very first hour Guild Wars 2 ever went live, including the three days headstart. So give or take a few minutes, it should be EXACTLY as old as the game.
But I logged in today to find her 1459 days old. So I think yesterday’s rollback actually made me a day younger. Which means I didn’t get my birthday gift.
Now, it’s not much of a problem, since I’ll get it tomorrow, but its more of a sentimental problem.
This means that from now on; I, who have been around since GW2 opened servers, will from now on always be a day late, forever damaging my image.
But in any case, I asked in the map chat, and it turns out a lot of people has this problem, so a lot of personal images have been permanently damaged

Arenanet: did I made a mistake that I couldn’t log in, or its normal?
- Game erases password in spite of Remember box checked
- “The game client was unable to connect to the log-in server… bla bla”Someone else also experiences this?
Soulbound items react randomly on hosts, and show complete chaos when dropped in banks. To avoid irrepairable damage, all login servers are shut down and devs work hard to fix the issue. until further notice the game is down right now.
Please no more elites ><
You didn’t like the current elites? We’ll be getting them anyway, its anets way to avoid having to make whole new classes.
“Thief to Venomoncromist: specialized with dual wielding axes, they flash over the battlefield using various poisons and toxins.”
Hell no, dual wielding axes and more poisons? As if poison builds weren’t already in abundance. And the idea of dual wielding axes as a thief is very distasteful. (Sorry if this sounds insulting, it wasnt meant to be).
An idea I loved when I saw on reddit was Swashbuckler. So dual wield swords. Cant remember what the spec would be like but I loved the idea of swashbuckler and dual wielding swords as a thief.
Another I had was Shinobi, so going back to a sort of ninja like thief who specialises solely on stealth attacks and conditions such as crippling and such. Maybe even conjuring Jutsus or something? Idk would be cool.
The swaschbuckler is also a very good idea, but as for the dual axe, I was kind of refering to these weapons: Dont forget that elites come with a weapon collection of a good looking item: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/68/Kusarigama-crop.jpg
One, Lazarus doesn’t consider us, the PC, as inconsequential. If anything, he doesn’t consider us anything at all.
Way I see it, he needed to take control of his army of followers. Cadeucus was about to wrestle that control from him, to divert their resources to vie for the Krytan throne. See, the White Mantle had always been a theocracy; a religious-political coalition, governing Kryta. So, most of its components are both zealots, and politicians/government officials,. There are also the ones that are only religious fanatics, and on the other side of the spectrum, the ones with political ambitions. Cadeucus falls into that last category: he just wants the White Mantle political party to secure the throne for himself. He cares not about the resurrection of their god.
Since Cadeucus is their leader, it doesn’t matter if most of the WM is trying to revive Lazarus. The moment the Minister decides to invade, the WM will have to mobilize. This is made evident through Justiciar Bauer’s journal, where he has to work his superiors ambition into research on the Bloodstone; Bauer hopes for the magical research to allow him and his faction to bring Lazarus back, so he convinces Cadeucus to funnel resources into that, by pointing out the potential military applications of the Bloodstone weapons.
So, finally, why did he show himself?
Because Cadeucus was about to rally the WM into attacking Kryta (He was, after all, being shown the military capabilities of the Jade Constructs). Lazarus knew the majority of the WM would drop that and follow their god, if the “Unseen One” now showed himself. It would effectively make about 90% of their militants follow him, instead of their leader. And given that he believes the WM needs to be focused on something… other than the Kryta politics, he needed to assert that control.
Have in mind that Lazarus showing himself like that is akin to the Second Coming to these people.
Those.. Are actually some good points, kudos.
But still, having absorbed a bloodstones worth of power, considering they’re practically godmode control panels, does he actually need the WM anymore? Or does he just want them as an extra pair of hands to labor.
He doesn’t consider us anything at all. > doesnt that define inconsequentiality?
I kinda like the staff Warrior idea, although I’d personally swap out auras for spirits.
As for the Revenant, I’m thinking Golemancer Stance with Oola where you get a scepter/focus and control a golem hologram that appears around you and has physical type skills like warrior, or Outcast Stance with Pyre Fierceshot where you get a longbow and preparation skills that work similar to thief’s venom skills
I like those as well, problem is, with revenant you can involve so many cool characters from GW1 or pre-lore that its actually hard to decide which one would be best. I just chose togo because I believed you’d reach the most of the playerbase. I think everyone who played eotn played factions, but not necessarily the other way around.
Other cool people would include Koss, Rurik, the Lich, Galrath, just to name a few
But its not really a problem, ascension was mostly so they couldnt hide from us. But they could choose to show themselves. D’alessio wasnt ascended for example, the mursaat left the veil of the mists to show themselves. We chose to become ascended so we could fight them fairly anywhere and everywhere. And after that we still needed infusions to survive their aura, which they developed to survive to the agony of the mists, creating an aura of agony around themselves.
I have a bigger problem with WHY lazarus chose to show himself in the first chapter. If he thinks of us as inconsequential, and wants to move through some kind of plot undisturbed, we can now prove to be quite an annoyance. UNLESS of course he wants us to hunt him, so we can set things in motion in his favor.
The problem is, that golem gives unrealistic values. Some of your dps stems from the fact that have actively fighting allies, and the bosses move around and attack as well your dps will be lower during the vale guardian as youre partially preoccupied with seekers and green floors.
Maybe they should scale difficulty based on your character: each character can have a “rating” made up of things like gear, finished Specialization, progress of Masteries, whether they do Fractals, Raid, PvP and maybe ranking, etc. Those players who have Ascended gear, capped Masteries, who do PvP, etc. are going to find things easier than people who have none of those things. Then scale the reward based on the character rating.
I can understand that certain players enjoy very challenging content but clearly other players don’t. Trying to balance content for everyone leaves those at either end of the scale unhappy.
That wouldnt be too bad an idea. NPC value = PC value * (sum:armor)(sum:weapons)
Sum:armor would be white.blue.green.yellow.orange.pink 1-6, same with weapons
Twohanded sets average the quality. So, someone wielding a bluegreen swords with yellow+pink axe.shield be in full ascended armor would be (6.0+(3.5+5.5))*80
And enemies can adjust themselves to that valueUsing gear only doesn’t necessarily address the issue of players who prefer much more difficult content vs. players who don’t. I might not like to raid, do Fractals, PvP, etc. but I might have really good gear because that makes PvE easy for me which is what I prefer. That is why I suggested also using Raid, PvP, and other more difficult content experience to add to the rating.
Thats also fair, then how about this? ;
Normal Mode: all skills and cooldowns are as presented (current normal play)
Hard Mode:
*All healing received is reduced by 25%,
*you deal 10% less damage overal,
*all your stats are pushed down as if you were wearing lv70 variants of gear,
*your cooldowns get slow-ticks whenever you get hit by an attack (making dodging more valuable as well)
As in, +0.3 second for everytime you're hitDuring Hardmode you won’t earn extra gold, but maybe have +50% magic find or something?
How’s that? It wont interfere with open world combat, as mobs don’t become harder, but you need to put in more effort to survive the same, and since its completely optional normal folks can keep their normal mode on.
The reason I was suggesting a character rating is because then they don’t have to change the content to add Modes. I’m certain the content already has a method to scale the difficulty, so adding code to automatically scale the difficulty based on the rating of the character(s) in the instance would seem to be easier than changing all the content to provide difficulties. But if I am wrong I would be fine with either method.
Arent you contradicting yourself now? In the last post you said it shouldnt be done based on the players’ getup. And I agreed with that, players shouldnt have to go out of their way to change to the difficulty, if changing something about my skills or gear would automatically change the difficulty, then the game wouldnt be play how you like it, anymore. To have a toggleable button would be best
Warrior to Sage: the sage wields a staff and deals with auras.
Guardian to Paladin: the paladin has a changed set of greatsword and hammer skills, meant to defend and heal, as the next dedicated healer for raids.
Revenant to Weh No Su wa Togo: channel master the ritualist Togo and gain access to spirit-summoning skills.
Thief to Venomoncromist: specialized with dual wielding axes, they flash over the battlefield using various poisons and toxins.
Ranger to Hunter: holding a rifle, and controlling two (or even three) of the same pet, making the pets as a group 150-200% more effective. Replaces all trap skills with superior traps.
Engineer to Siegemaster: able to create turrets and vehicles that you are allies can control.
Elementalist to Rampartant: wields a greatsword or two normal swords and fights melee to med-range. Has superior barrier abilities and superior summoned elementals.
Mesmer to Chaophant: chaophants are masters of terror.mthey use nightmares to inflict heavy agony and despair on enemies. They wield a focus in the main hand and can materialize nightmare fuel.
Necromancer to Demonologist: wielding a mace, demonologists can no longer summon undead, but instead summon one of few greater demons until it dies (Imp, Aatxe or Dreadreaver) demonologists use their blood as a currency, replacing cooldowns.
Note: apologies for the atrocious english, im writing this on an ipad and its hell to fix writing mistakes
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
We’ve already got an answer to that. Ogden points out a couple different times, before we even start, that the process we underwent wouldn’t Ascend us.
Ah okay, must’ve missed that, but I didnt know for either way.
But its not like we needed ascension to see Mursaat when they voluntarily enter our world. Sail d’Alessio wasnt ascended at the time, either.
But I’m more curious about what means why Lazarus would voluntarily show himself. If he thinks of us as inconsequential, why would he bother showing himself. Now that he’s revealed his existence we can prove to be a minor or major annoyance to his works. unless he wants us to chase him and unentionally put things to motion in his favor.
I’m not saying it as a fact, but we did follow the trials of ascension in the Living Story to get a mistflame to fight to the shadow of the dragon. It was a rushed version of the same trials, so it all depends on whether anet lets that count as true ascension or not
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
I’ll try to lay out some of my favourite classes:
*Warrior: no fear of death, even when glasscannons, their defense is heavy. If you use heavy weapons like greatswords and hammers, you might not want to use targeting, and instead play it like an action/hack’n’slash.
*Necromancer: A good caster class with heavy conditions. Especially good for soloing due to the fact that a necrotic golem is your tank.
*Elementalist: Like a necromancer, expect raw damage instead of conditions. You will have to make up for a non-tanky minion, or create earth elementals.
*Guardian: Similar to the warrior, but slightly more utility than damage. Battles will last slightly longer, but the odds will be ever in your favor.
*Engineer: Bulky, steadfast, and inventive. This class has an excellent learning curve imo. The abilities are numerous, and you can make them as complex as you want.
if you’re new, you ‘might’ wanna avoid these classes for now, as they have either difficult skills, or require a lot of training and knowledge of the picqued game mechanics before you can compete with the previously mentioned classes:
*Mesmer, heavy damage, but a very steep learning curve
*Thief, currently good for solo play, but lackluster compared to other classes.
*Ranger, like the thief, but the pet in its current AI is really annoying to control. If you wanna do dungeons/fractals, the rangers can evolve into Druids later, which makes them dedicated healers, so its something to look out for.
*Revenant, don’t get me wrong, revenant is a good class. but its rather vulnerable for a heavy, so you might want to net some experience elsewhere before making a revenant.
Dont tell me what to do?
I agree on one side, even though I don’t RP, I like for my characters to be normal within its universe, so all my characters have racially normal gear and racially normal names.
But whatever other people do, that stuff shouldn’t be bothering you. Of course I sometimes run into a charr called Alfalfalover Ixxa or something making me think ‘oooookaaaaaaayyyyyy’
but if they’re happy with it.. let them be
