I like how there’s a post that says the new hearts is the best next thing to sliced bread, and there’s a post below that says its the worst next thing since the building of the german wall.
I’m with the lovin’ it group, though
I remember they used to have like 3 or 4 different ones, but now I only see one. did they make it dyable?
you’re propably confused Glint’s Gaze and its two counterparts (Red, Blue, Green).
Those were never dyeable either, different color was a different skin altogether.

So here’s a (fun) idea I had yesterday; A Tormented Fractal.
As we know the fractals are like copied bubbles of real world events, like splinters of a tree of time, whether past, present or future events are reflected.
So I was thinking, how about a large fractal for 10-man groups. The rift can be added to the Fractal Auditorium and can be set to 6 levels, F1, F2, .. F6 where they represent in 6 steps the values of difficulty (And times 35 Agony Resistance, so F6 would take 210 AR (A bit more than the 150 you need for F100 Mai Trin, but then again, this is supposed to be harsh. But maybe the agony damage can climb slower so that you can enter with a decline in AR, but notice the difference as you get more)
Inside will be a large open area where some events take place, which can be done in any order. The map itself will be a dark place, chaotic, unstable, it is truly the most outer rim of whatever realm these fractals of the mists are in. The area has no mistlock instabilities on its own, but effects occur all over the place as you’re in the zone.
As said, complete the events in any order, all or just a few. They’ll have individual rewards, and an aditional reward for a full run.
1) The events of Jadoth at the coast
1-2) (only event that needs (1) completed before): Margonite General Jadoth
3) Stygian maw
4) The Fury
5) The Darknesses
6) Mallyx the Unyielding (extra achievement for defeating him in Mallyx form)
7) The Gates of Torment (a sequence of Chaos, Torment and Madness), followed by a fight with Lich and Shiro Tagachi
8) Help the Apostate and Fight Abaddon
Remember that these are fractals and the actual locations, so they’re supposed to look more like splintered memories than the actual thing as they did in GW1. Also, if you want you can do Abaddon first and then fight Stygian Maw. There’s no forced sequence. But maybe we could add runes that tell the story of the fall of Abaddon until his defeat at the hands of Kormir’s Lackeys.
In its entirety I think it should take 2-3 hours to complete, if you’re good at it, and since you can take breaks because of individual progress it shouldn’t be a problem for people who don’t have 2-3 hours either. Would a weekly reset be fair?
Unlike fractals, this map will have its own Mistlock Instabilities, that changes upon location. Also bosses can have unique effects like the mursaat in (1) as they would have Agonizing Touch.
Some ideas for instabilities:
Paranoia: Sometimes get hit by allied attacks
Maddening Lethargy: skill cooldowns are more random (+/- 5 seconds, so sometimes in your favor)
Encroached Silence: Not very often, but sometimes skills fail (not autoattack or heal-skill) and knock the player back.
Violence: As you deal damage your toughness and vitality slowly decreases, just take a step back to recover.
Shrouded: this is more for enemies than the players. Enemies who are shrouded in white light are resistant to condi’s, and weak to power, a dark shroud inverts this. When fighting groups, pay attention to their shrouds or get punished for it.
Every use of a skin is individually active.
If I may offer some advice, use Zenith Skins and Hall of Monuments skins, or buy 1 outfit, while levelling so you don’t look like an eye-sore until you’re lv80. Applying Dyes is free each time. just unlock the palette
As other people said HoT didn’t add any new tiers of equipment, ascended is still the best and exotics are still almost as good and you can get both (with many different stat combinations) in the core game. There are some new stat combinations which are exclusive to HoT content, but not everyone uses them and the old ones aren’t any worse than they used to be.
What I want to add to that is that with HoT you do get access to Elite Specializations and a new prefix called Yassith’s Viper which is the meta for Raw Condi damage like Necro and burner Ele. So even if you dont wanna play HoT story, you can still get the optimal condi’s and elite specs for your core gameplay. It will help in dungeons and fractals as well
I noticed how the Destroyers have a few powerful attacks.. that they can cast only once in their short lives if they’re lucky.
The harpies for example put all their value in the ‘fly high, swoop and launch fire orbs’ which can be EASILY dodged due to the long animation, resulting in a complete negation of ALL damage. Then it just hangs around flapping its wings until it can do that again, by which time you have full recovered endurance. Meaning that if you know how to dodge, you can even get through a fight without taking any damage AT ALL
Maybe the NPC should be fighting ghosts. Enemies that are purely a cosmetic presence. That way it would look like there are more enemies, and the NPCs look more active
Vanilla content is Fractals, PvP, WvW, Dungeons and a non-replayable PS.
As well as event chains like the World Bosses, Orrian Temples, and various group events.
I think you can find some parties for them, but don’t expect too much. Most players quit after Core, or get HoT to keep playing.
Scuthullhu (I guarantee it)
Mordremoth wanted to wake up, but don’t forget their current sleep is(was) because the Seers made the bloodstones effectively starving the dragons into hibernation. Most of them woke up on their own, albeit needing the help from some minions. I think most dragons spouted minions to gather magic (anti-kitten), until there was enough to wake up on (insert Great Destroyer from GW1 here)
Now, Mordremoth is slightly different apparantly. He chose Scarlet as his chaperone to get the magic to awaken him, and Scarlet the ever overachiever decided that some relics wasn’t gonna be enough like it was for Zhaitan, no, she had to flood the tunnels with leyline by drilling straight into a node so that a wave of magic would wash over mordremoth.
(This is just a speculation based on logic, but I dont have more proof than just a likely scenario)
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
Zojja and Logan are actually briefly mentioned in Out of the Shadows. Though, uh, Zojja’s not blind – even if you rescue her first. And which one is comatose there depends on which you rescue first (if you rescued Logan first, then Zojja’s the comatose one). In S3, both are stated to be awake but heavily injured.
okay, didn’t know that, thought in both cases zojja was blind and logan comatose. Although I didn’t assume zojja was perma-blind, just because she was in the pod for so long. (although it would make for a good story, how would a blind zojja cope. She wouldn’t have the mist-feel revenants have to ‘help’ see)
On the other hand, they’re stronger than destroyers were.
We haven’t seen the “real destroyers” yet either. These are basically just empowered weakling destroyers.
They’re not, I checked back with the old destroyers and they burnt me more than the new ones did. The new ones can be killed without even considering using your heal skill
It’s open world and it should be easy. Do I have to remind you of all the whining in the forum of ‘too hard’ mobs in HOT? It’s fine like this. We will get harder enemies in instances (hopefully). Oh and the Jade Armors/Bows are on the right spot. Especially if you ignore the Ether Seals :-)
But the mobs should never be like what the core mobs are:
- Low Armor.
- High HP.
- Generic skills with almost no effects.
- Super easy to defeat with full berserker and “stand-spam” tactic.
- Due to lack of effects, most game mechanics were mostly useless and players tend to not learn the game mechanics unless they play PvP.
PvE should reflect some of player capabilities, as to give different builds viability, thus increasing the replay value.
As stated before, HoT did a good job on making the combat more engaging, rather than making it “full berserker stand-spam”. Anyone could play Support and Control builds there without being useless during group events, and these builds alsop had impact on solo roaming, when Direct dmg DPS wasn’t able to kill mobs with “stand-spam” tactic.
As it currently stands, these are copy-paste destroyers from the core game. Propably the ones sotuh of kessex hills. With a little green light reskin
how >> not, the infused destroyers are already MUCH weaker than the normal mordrem were, so I think primordius isn’t gonna be much of a threat
HoT Mobs are fine, they’re not too weak nor too strong. These destroyers are actually WEAKER than the average HoT mob. this is a decline, not a maintaining of force. The people who whined that HOT was too difficult should’ve adapted by now to that level
So I killed some destroyers on the new zone, and to my surprise, these destroyers who were induced with increased magic (death and plant), were actually weaker than the plants they took their power from. So.. 1+1 =/= 2 —> 1+1=0.8 apparantly
What worried me the most was that no veteran destroyer I ran into was even able to force me to use my heal skill. They just had a slightly larger healthpool meaning they survived the initial Hundred Blades, taking 2 or 3 more hits after that before they dropped dead.
What was with Taimi’s simulation? There I had a period of ‘oh kitten, oh kitten, oh kitten’
Then I went to the ember island, and.. to my surprise, these destroyers weren’t even half of what the simulation promised I would fight.
What gives anet? Dragon Minions are supposed to get stronger along the way, not weaker!
1. episode 2 was released pretty soon after episode 1, so have hope, but keep it thin.
2. There’s halloween, and fractal overhauls, so you’ll have something to do during those 2 months.
3. Feel free to do something else while you wait, I like these 2 month gaps, lets me play some other games I didn’t have time for before, like Legion.
So since HoT came out, I thought these would be adressed when we got to leave the maguuma jungle, but I’ve not heard any of it yet:
- What happened to the nightmare court? They’re ‘leaderless’ now since Faolain used to be a nightmare courtier until she took an Eir-row to the knee
- What happened to the Zephyrites? After mordremoth awoke, a sylvari travelling with the group caused an accident that made them crash. Until this day they are still picking up the pieces and collecting their dead. Maybe in a future Current Event we can help them rebuild a base south of the Dry Top, there’s a thin-ish unused area we can use to make a small town map.
- Zojja (and Logan), I’m surprised that we havent visited them yet. At the end of HoT Zojja is left blind, and Logan comatose, yet we took the time to visit Eir’s remembrance, but not them?
Maybe are still more un-adressed gaps after HoT, discuss?

In any case, AP and Mastery Level tells you less than absolutely nothing about anyone. If you are kicked from a party based on AP or ML, then assume the latter is so stupid you never wanted to be in a party with them, anyway
I don’t really understand the nostalgia for the old LA..
I always thought the old LA was quite and eyesore.. very ugly place to be..
In Gw1 LA was a real town.. in Gw2 it just looked like a shanty town of shipwrecks.. hardly fitting for a capital city..
Its because the people who read Sea of Sorrows know that Cobiah Marriner bought and rebuilt Lions Arch after Orr’s tidal waves demolished it. The base of the city was the many ships were washed astrand, thats why half the structures of the old LA was mainly made of ships and ship parts.
Also, the nostalgia comes from the fact that the people who know Cobiah Marriner’s story, know what he went through to make that Lions Arch, and how it was a symbol of freedom for all races. Before CM, Lions Arch was a deputy capital of Divinity’s Reach, which was being built after the destruction of LA to be the replacement of the human Capital.
So long story short; there was a lot of history in why and how the GW1 LA and GW2-old-LA came to be, all the while you can still find traces of the previous chapters. In the current form of LA all history of Cobiah and the Human Nation of Kryta has been dumped into the sea (literally) to make way for what was supposed to be a hub of trade but is now the most in-efficient trade-hub of all.
Is there a reason why after 4 years, the treb is still immune to condi?
Ever seen a plank bleed, be poisoned, tormented, confused?
No, but I’ve seen wood kittening burn.
Further, you’re saying immersion is more important than gameplay? That argument holds in WvW, but only because you’re not supposed to break down gates by PvDing.
If you’re solo qing you don’t always have the luxury of sending the most suitable class to pressure if your enemy is using the treb. Winning that fight leaves you with two options as a condi player: waste 30-45 seconds killing the treb or leave it alone, so the person you just killed or chased off can come right back.
What part of that makes any sense?
joke —--/ you \———>>
Condi burn druid rip
Then switch to axes to go frost?
Condi burn engi rip
Then dont equip the flamethrower, use the grenade kit, or just the pistols/rifle/hammer
Condi burn guard rip
Switch to another weapon, easy. Utility skillbar isnt locked
Condi burn war rip
Switch to swords, bleed instead of burn
Condi burn ele rip
burn is really only half of one of four elements. Switch to air or earth.
I’d say warrior as well. With the hammer and greatsword you can play without ever targetting a thing, making ghe game feel more like a top view skyrim-esque where you align the swing of your weapons with the opponents position… or 3d castlevania
Either way, playing as a warrior makes me feel more free than any other class.
Is there a reason why after 4 years, the treb is still immune to condi?
Ever seen a plank bleed, be poisoned, tormented, confused?
Considering a chunk of the base loathes the new LA, I really hope this concept art means something: https://i.imgur.com/3tAr7wl.jpg
Thats an older picture that was never used. I think they maybe wanted to introduce bubbles before they turnt to the scarlet road.
The average amount of matrices for non-infused rings is usually around 3-4. It’s nearly never worth salvaging them if you need to buy the salvage kit
If thats your average, then you stand nothing to lose. Even if you make only around 10-20s profit, its more than the 5s you get for selling it. My personal experience is that salvaging is still always better sometimes you break even, and sometimes you make profit
Wikipedia’s research gives you a bit more than 4-5, though, closer to 6.

Q: Since when did MMO endgame content rely on players following the exact guide from sites like metabattle etc?
A: Since always, because as long as a game has variable numbers, there will always be an optimal set. Its called META: Most Efficient Tactic Available
The fact you’re making that presumption means you never played GW1, Diablo, World of Warcraft or any other RPG before?
GW2 has been very lenient in its designs. You don’t need META to play the game and enjoy both the easy and the hard content. Raids however are the peak of this difficulty designed for players to hunt this META and use it. The META will also change with new raid wings and class updates. Maybe with the next expansion we get new Elite Specs, which redefine the META again.
IN SHORT:
The game is very un-meta friendly. Meaning you can play ALMOST all content without being META which is a lot more than most games do. ONLY raids are designed for META-ish builds.

Make Lions Arch Great Again2016!
This disney waterpark was not Cobiah Marriners’ dream!
This.
Lions Arch now just looks kind of a theme Park, not a city!
Not only do I weep for Cobiah’s dream, the city is now actually useless. I mean you can’t do TP business there, when you have to go back and forth between the bank and the TP a lot. And when people complained about that they added hopping boards instead of a waypoint. Now I spent 95% of my work in either Divinity or Rata Sum (I even got the scroll for easy crafting/Mystic Forge periods)
But seriously, if the fractal portal wasn’t in LA, I would never be seen in that city ever again.
You can’t change the color
Oh, you’re right. I was confused with the Polyluminsence infusion
Nope, just one, but you can have multiple different visuals at the same time.
I think the ghostly infusion can even be changed in color
I have a very good experience with onlinekeystore. However, whilst they sell legit game codes, which ive used for gems and wow play time, however, their supplies are unstable, meaning you should be prepared for a wait time which 80% of the time is less than hour, but can run up to a month if youre unlucky.
I thought it was possible that I saw a hydra in the video “Ember Bay: Behind the Scenes”.
I could be wrong, but that looked almost like a hydra to me. At 2:38 in the video, and as part of it walked it by one of the devs said “It was fun to bring some creatures that haven’t seen a lot of play in a while.”
If I’m wrong plz tell so, but to me it looked like it COULD be a hydra.
It was a reptillian butt, could be anything at this point :p
Yes please do some packets which contain t6 materials for like 12 pristine relics (that what we get with a daily)
Or some ascended stuff like in raid
This is about the normal relics. The pristine relics already have a good conversion by buying and salvaging rings and selling the matrices.
We are definitely looking into more ways to spend fractal currency. Adding more rewards is an iterative process, so if you have a stockpile of pristines, relics, and pages I recommend holding on to them in case we add future rewards. We are of course always looking at feedback and suggestions for good rewards
How is the idea of selling fractal gathering tools, crafting material bags and some other tools. They’re already selling inventory bags which I approve of. Maybe for a lot of tokens a gambling box which contains a variety of items including an uncommon pristine relic, or very rarely mist essence or rings.
Would be cool if there was a valley with Hydra skeletons. Maybe with an achievement where a hydra ghost spawns. And when you kill it, it walks to a singed skeleton and alligns his death animation with dropping right on it.
I don’t know. A guy creates a character on day one. Takes four years off, but his character is still there. He’s played the game for one year and gets something like that.
They should do that when someone has played for 10,000 hours or something.
If it was linked to hours played then all the AFK runners who run into walls all day would benefit over real players who actually play.
How about a minimum hour to AP ratio, after a period of 4000 hours is reached. That way the bots who have too little AP wont get the portrait. And give me that elitist argument, because I cannot believe that a player wont have a decent amount of AP after playing a while because there are plenty of autonomous achievements for just completing all the stories, dungeons, fractals etc etc
I miss the old times we fought world bosses with ~ 30 man. Back then you could see the boss. Only few bosses are so bag their bodies escape the giant discoballs of flashy effects.
Make Lions Arch Great Again2016!
This disney waterpark was not Cobiah Marriners’ dream!
As far as ascended rings are concerned you can’t do much; the options are:
vendor it for 5s, keep it in case you might need it in the future, or salvage it if you have spare asc salvage kits. Amulets and accessories follow the same rules, but are a bit harder to come by, so keeping them is encouraged
Keep in mind that ascended weapons/armor are an exception and you can change their stats, making the potential random drop invaluable
never, abso-skrittely ever should you sell the ring for 5s. Buy an ascended salvage tool for 1g. Getting 4 matrices yields a net return, but most people get at least more than 5 on a single ring. I,d say ~10 is average? They’re pricier than ectoplasmas.
You had the chance to say it a yoke thread. You didn’t take it.
weren’t the hydras in the Elon deserts? I dont think I ever saw them on the Rings of Fire
EDIT: Ascalon, Rings of Fire, Crystal Desert, and later Fissure of Woe apparantly

Guild Wars 1: oh, Destroyers are immune to burning, let’s change my skills.
Guild Wars 2: oh, Destroyers are immune to burning, better make a post of this bug, I don’t want to have to change my way of playing, I want anet to change to game to cater to my playstyle!Yeah because gw1 and gw2 totally have the same skill system and build variety…
Not saying destroyer burning immunity has to go but this is just a bad comparison.
Also mobs in gw1 often had weaknesses to make up for their strenghts.I’d say make the destroyers more vulnerable to the chill condition, maybe even take damage from it. Not only is this more balanced, it also makes sense.
Actually, your skill variety goes in reverse. in GW1 you had to return to a safe space before you could swap your skills. Now, the only class that relies for burning on all its skills is the elementalist, which can just swap to earth or air when they would run into a destroyer. In case of engineer.. well.. just don’t equip the flamethrower. thats all.
But yea, I agree, to compensate for burning resistance, making chill more effective would be good. Maybe even have chill have an extra debuffing effect.
Fractal armor, in the style of the fractal weapons and legendary backpiece.
I’m currently running Leyline Armor which I feel looks the most like wat a Fractal Armor would look like.
I’m using Crystal Guardian instead of Fractal greatsword because it looks a little bit better
I run 2500k i5 from intel, and GPU is one of the new fancy 1060 series from nvidia.
GW2 runs like a charm, only world events still neck a little, but then I just drop down the ‘character model limit’
