Seriously? No mist geyser fix, despite saying it was coming in the next update? I’ve been waiting to finish Unbound for two weeks now and still nothing. Kinda disheartening. Add on top of that no raid fixes?
[–]Anet_BenRilvald
Must Geyser should be fixed. I failed to add a release note, that is on me.
Thank you for the headsup, ’preciate it.
Then there’s a serious complaint here though:

[rant off]
THOUGHTS
I think it would be a good idea to enhance the value of some of the foraging materials via Ascended cooking. This could be a pro for anyone who would sell the stuff. It might be a con for those who use those mats for existing recipes. However, I’m not sure that the “huge numbers of mats” thing that comprises L500 crafting would be as palatable for consumables as it seems to be for permanent account bound items.
Introducing things for people to do is kind of what MMO’s do. MMO’s create time sinks, and some people want those. This would be a pro for some players. It might or might not be a pro for ANet depending on whether the system could be created with comparatively little dev time and whether enough players care. Given the issues they had with L. collections, I’m not sure that ANet wants to do more stuff like that with the legacy content.
The game really does not need more power creep. It contributes to the “game is too easy” mentality because content is being built for a median point in terms of numbers. There is already a numerical difference between the “Gotta-have-it-all” and “Just-want-to-enjoy-myself” players. I wouldn’t be too surprised if at least some of the negative reaction to HoT mobs being “harder” comes down to players who don’t bother with Asc. everything or with food.
Enough people would not be pleased to spend the time/gold to get to 500 if there were no numerical advantage. So, ANet would have to supply such an advantage. Thus, I think the outcome would be more “too easy” complaints, and were that to be addressed, more “too hard” complaints.
I agree with your whole thoughtset, but my original point was more about the cooking collecting and having a complex recipe as a reward, more than it was to have cooking lv500, which isn’t necessary to add the collection.
Also, since we’re talking about a consumable feast rather than a consumable inventory item, I’d figured they’d be acountbound, maybe even limited to instances, not allowing them in open world. Also, they wouldn’t cost as much materials as a piece of gear. Just say, a handfull of seaweeds, arctic truffles and some bloodstone dust FOR WHICH THERE IS NO CULINARY APPLICATION WHATSOVERER, WE HEARD YOU PRIORI
Please tell WHERE the difficulty lies, because I unlocked it all in one go when it was released (well, save the exp grind, which i mostly got from fractals)
Yea been playing said game for 3 years before masteries I had 48-50 points when the system came.
I wonder what have you other people been doing? playing the tradepost?
If you do not have LS2 there is a big chunk of MPs right there you are missing.
If you don’t have LS2, then you’re deliberately not having the game, the game is tailored to people who have the game. it’s like saying you have a kitchen, but not stove, and then complain you can’t heat food
You’d have a point here if the Living Story 2 wasn’t locked behind a paywall for those who were away that year or didn’t buy the game until after it was over.
Its still a whole point, because sometimes people sell kitchens, and then add in a free stove if you buy it within 2 weeks from the store’s grand opening, after that, you gotta buy the stove seperately
While i find the forced prolonging of the Hungerbloom not the bedt idea, i like the new mossman and Snowblind svanir shaman boss. For the majority, i think theyre really good fixes
I sincerely hopen they will compensate us for this, mail 75 matrices to people with the Unbound collection open
Hmm, crazy and extraordinary.
I don’t have problems with pugs not meeting the required AR or not wanting to go into the spot at T4. Even today, it was a bit annyoing at dredge boss but there hasn’t been any issue – and I’m doing this daily. Dunno why you have so many problems.
Maybe its because people at t4 take fractals seriously, people at T1-3 propably think “oh, i dont need AR, they’ll carry me”
*Snowblind
Fixed a bug that prevented Fractal Avengers from triggering.
instead of fixed the mist geyser in Snowblind..
Really, who decided that avengers were more important that a collection milestone preventing hundreds if not thousands of people from continuing their crafting of Unbound…
Fractals can never be stepping stones to raids as lomg as people are even to lazy to read the suggested AR notice
Since you don’t need AR for the first levels + you are introduced via panel when entering and npcs explaining stuff I still don’t think it is necessary to let others see your AR.
It’s also higlighted in orange with big letters of “Suggested Agony Resistance” if your AR is lower than the required numbers.
Additionally, when entering the color of every level is yellow on the panel if you aren’t bringing the amount of AR needed. It also is in the upper right corner in the lobby.Almost every player with level 80 heard about fractals before starting or was introduced by a guild including a rudimentary explanation of AR. I cannot really imagine people go fully blind into fracs above lvl 20 and being astonished that they die.
From all the other experienced ones we can expect reasonable actions and while this is common sense there almost are no problems with players lacking AR. I never had a player that took a wrong char because he forgot that there isn’t the required gear on this one. Sounds rather funny than realistic.
In the end, I strongly believe it is not necessary that you have to supervise 4 players as a leader of a guild group with the things I stated above. Especially if you take guildies with you you can simply ask what is standing in their upper right corner when you all meet in the lobby. Again a matter of seconds.
Well good that there are no leaders in 5 man groups anymore then.
+ as you say its already visible the ar and if your to low when going to fractal portal.
trust me
No one reads that red insuffucient AR warning.
Been trying to ask people for their levels or step through that ar counter, but then I get kicked from my own made party delaying the fractal because they rather make a problem out of it before just telling me gheir AR levels….
There’s a whole lotta heat below the shiverpeaks, though, google “primordus”
No. You’re note producing anything meaningful at 500.
Remember it’s backwards: 500 is the “compensation” for Anet screwing up and breaking their promise on Exotic being the final tier. It only exists because things weren’t “working as intended” not the other way around.
500 crafting is a BAD thing.
Okay, okay, the issue was not so much to get cooking 500 but rather to have a collection that takes you around the culinary world and unlock a raid quality banquet recipe.
Please tell WHERE the difficulty lies, because I unlocked it all in one go when it was released (well, save the exp grind, which i mostly got from fractals)
Yea been playing said game for 3 years before masteries I had 48-50 points when the system came.

Well, there are some contradictory thoughts between WoW and GW2,
1. The exp curve; the first time it seems slow because your’re still figuring things out, but you’ll quickly realize how much exp you get from just traveling the world. And if you do dungeons, you’ll be 80 before you know it.
2. Crafting; this has MUCH less value in GW2 than it does in WoW. Crafting is mostly for ascended attroucements if that is your ambition, anything from exotic quality or lower can be obtained MUCH easier and MUCH cheaper.
3. Action based combat; the combat of GW2 is much more.. mobile? I think thats the right word, you’ll notice you get a lot better if you keep moving around, never stand still, stay on your toes. learn which skills have a mobility effect, use them to your favour.
>>>> gw2community runs it several times a day with a 98.6358743 success rate
Please tell WHERE the difficulty lies, because I unlocked it all in one go when it was released (well, save the exp grind, which i mostly got from fractals)
God no. Bad idea. I dont want to spend thousands of hours levering up cooking. Bin there done that. Im very happy that I reach the highest lvl. Dont make us grind like If we’re playing some Korean grinding mmorpg
You know that just because its in the game you dont have to do it. If there’s 500 cooking no one will make you gring a few hours for it
I like season 3 so far and think a lot of the content was quite creative. But it is definitely easier than season 2 in terms of mob and achievement difficulty. I got every achievement on my first attempt (attempts where I was specifically after achievements) apart from the bugged one.
I, by no means, disliked the episode itself. The zone was beautiful, the events were fun and slightly difficult.
But I could get through the story chapters without trying really hard, and got a lot of achievement without even knowing about them. ‘Avoid the falling debris’, sure, but when you make the AoE fields so big and violent looking, I’m getting out of the way without anyone telling me to, so that achievement is more of a given than a challenge. So its for most, the only instance I had to do twice (for achievements) was the lab, because you have to make a contradictory choice
Scrolled through the dev comments page, seems no dev has yet commented (nor even acknowledged) on this. Any ETA on the fix?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a new item based on Dragonite ore or Empyreal fragments for future episodes
maybe in future seasons, but bloodstone was this whole season’s thing, not until we move away to a different area will we stop using bloodstones. Since there was a red barrier at the north side of the map I predict that next (or 3rd) chapter will unlock the second half of the map with more bloodstone currencies
Ha! As opposed to the threads stating it is too difficult.
Ah, well, gotta love perception.
That was my main reason for this post, and I feel like most of those complaints stem from the fact that people take too long to figure out what marjory means by using the bloodstone crystal. Or people have yet to realize they have a dodge button
Ive replayed it with 3 classes and come to the conclusion, there’s no real challenge, band I was wondering why, so I checked. And this is my conclusion,
In all 5 instances there’s but second dot threats. Eir’s memorial okay, visiting the lab, in those i dont expect combat. The chak were more comedy relief.
But when i got the bloodstone fen, the regular enemies were just that. And the bigger enemies were all gimmick fights, talk to the bloodstone crystal, tap the jade constructs or whitemantle inquisitor, and they drop like flies. Most enemies arent serious about attacking you either. What I mean to say is, never in chapter 1 are you in any actual danger.
So maybe what we need are more fights where enemies swarm you, where you need to use some strategy like mobility or CC to not get overwhelmed, and give bosses an attack for crying out loud, i hardly needed even my healing skills here.
If not for that, give the instances a challenge mote where double the enemies spawn, or they hit harder. But chapter 1 was too casual considering its post HOT
I think we’ll get halloween first, followed by season 2
An arms race
First you block Kitten
Then you blick K itten, Ki tten, Kit ten.. Etc
Then you block Kitt3n, then Ki77en, etc etc
Its an arms race without end
okay.. something’s wrong with the hypertext commands..
so we’ve been stuck on cooking 400 for a while. When LS2 foreshadowed the Culinary Applications of Bloodstone Dust, I thought that would be the next step in our culinary advents, but alas.
So I had this idea.

Throwing these items in the Mystic Forge gives an item that unlocks a few recipes.
These recipes are for banquets that give a 2H food buff, especially handy for raids.
The recipes are all the same except for a key ingredient which defines was it becomes.

- Bloodstone Sauce
- Empyreal Silverware
- Bag of Spices (costs a variety of herbs, spices and an T6 material specific)

I’m also against the possibility to see everyone’s AR. While I don’t care due to the fact I have wide over 150 on my fractal chars there are still players around not wanting everybody to have their amount randomly inspected like the gear. Therefore you can make your rules and kick the ones not accepting them.
I don’t really see how this is a problem? I mean, when you go to a bar, no one complains about infringement when they check your age. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m not against players seeking their limits, or a challenge. Nor do I want to keep people from playing fractals.
That does not, however, line up with the fact that people who don’t have any AR, those people CAN NOT and WILL NOT be ABLE TO support the group IN ANY WAY, they will drop dead as soon as they enter the boss area, and will NEVER get the chance to perform even the SLIGHTEST. Even if you rez them, they will be downed immediatly again if they are not god-level dodgers. and at a higher level, you will always take some Agony damage regardless of your AR.
What I’m saying is, there is ABSOLUTELY NO reason for anyone with an instadeath amount of AR to be in a fractral, other than the purpose of slowing down the rest. THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ELSE, even if they want to help. there are only downsides to let these people in fractals, you hilter their fun, their will to perform well, and hilter the fun of the rest of the party.
What I THINK will happen is, halloween, and right after chapter 2
Mark as unwanted:
O trophies.
O white gear.
O blue gear and lower.
O green gear and lower.
O minor runes and sigils.
O major runes and sigils and lower.
Those are all the options we should start with, I think, otherwise it becomes messy. Mybe add crafting mats up to t3
To make it clear, there doest need a hard barrier, some people are good at dodging or can outheal ticks of AR. But if your AR is so low that you instadown upon entering the ring, why bother coming? You cant parttake in the fight, you cant help, you’re only filling a slot where someone COULD’VE done something.
So i’m fine with a softbarrier.
Suggested AR – 10 = allowed to enter.
Then you can at least outheal the ticks.
Another reason to let us inspect other players gear.
Not really. If he was that worried about it he could of asked if people meet the minimum AR before going in.
I am that worried, and I do ask now, but people usually dont respond, or make it a hassle to tell. Then, if I have to kick someone I give the command, but in the lobby most people are sluggish or not paying attention. I just wanna see on a getgo if someone will die at the start without even being able to contribute or not.
Another reason to let us inspect other players gear.
I dont wanna know their stats, i wanna know their AR
I know they’re cheaper now than they used to be, but the price on these is blowing up again. A week ago they were 3g, now they’re 10g.
So 18 lilies for a set of exotic armor is 180g without factoring in the costs of other mats.
If you add in trinkets and weapons, you’d be over 500g.
Any chance the drop rate can be increased? They’re just too rare.
Bruh, never craft exotic armor, buy what compares in Orr, or buy it and forge it into what you want through the force. When your crafting costs exceed 50g you might as well step up and craft ascended
leeloo dallas multipass.
I like the idea of just showing the level of AR instead of the mastery level.
If you’re not 80, you most likely won’t have enough AR anyway.
the fifth element
I apologize in advance
*cough *cough
[rant]
So I was doing fractal 25 Mai Trin, (normally I do T3s, but I needed a few for the ‘do all’ achievement)
I make a party, wanna get through it quick, so I call it:
[ F25, Mai Trin Daily, exp ]
so next, four people join, all fine, they’re skilled as it seems, we kill the add champion pretty quick, good feeling about the boss.
So we run in.. all 4 drop dead instantly.. not losing health, not getting ticks, INSTANTLY
So I ask them if they have any AR, 2 of them reply ‘Whats AR?’ and one of them replies with ‘no, didn’t think I’d need it yet’.
So, to turn my rant into something more constructive:
To anet: I’d like to see a barrier check, if you enter a fractal, and your AR is so low you instantly die at the boss stage from the very air, you shouldn’t even be able to enter, you have no business being there. Block them at the gate, ask them for ID, and if their AR is below 18 don’t let them in.
Or at least, give people a way to see their AR, like, replace their level with AR, since everyone’s 80 anyway
To the playerbase: when you enter fractals check the suggested Agony Resistance in the level box. If you’re lower than the suggested level, let your party know. They can be fine with it, you won’t instantly be kicked, but people can be prepared. And if you’re more than 10 behind the suggested, I suggest you take a lower level, earn some tokens, and buy/craft more AR infusions.
[/rant]
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
It would be nice if an anet dev said something if there’s something gamebreaking
I >personally< wouldn’t mind paying for it, I liked the story and all.
If they remade it like a mini-expansion for say.. 10 euros? you think it would be worth the effort?
So I was working on my Tier III Unbound collection, last step I need: get a +8 infusion to the Mist Geyser in Snowblind Fractal, so I go there.
Light the bonfire, melt the wall, kill the elemental, rush north through the forest, up the mountain. I can’t find the geyser..
So I say to my party, lets go kill the boss first, I’ll look better later, there might be a cave or crevice I missed.
So we kill the boss, buddies leave, I stay behind to look for the geyser. can’t find it.. think it’s bugged/didn’t spawn. So I redo the instance with a new party, completely clean instance. Up to that point again.. still no geyser.. so I get desperate, and turn to Dulfy, she has a map of the route and location. I follow it exactly.. now geyser.
So I’m turning to devs now, is there anything ‘known’ about a non-apearing Mist geyser in the Snowblind Fractal? and if so, how long will it take for it to be fixed, because it’s a limited on my Unbound right now.
QOL suggestions:
{X}→ Permanent map markers (say, 5 per character, and then you can buy some more with ingame currency and another few in gem store?)
{X}→ /Resign in dungeons/fractals/story-instances
(especially story instances when you’re alone, since returning to character select or using a WP is a rather redunant way to leave an instance)
{X}→ A better way to see mapwide events, sometimes there are multiple events going, but because something else is closer, you can’t see the event you’re looking for. Sometimes the system even prioritizes events that are further away. Also an option to ‘flag to hide’ an active event, so it doesn’t clutter your screen. Sometimes an event is bugged, but it being active will prevent you from seeing other events on the same map. (I’m looking at you, shiverpeak escort quests)
{X}→ Hide Dailies, I’m not always looking to do them, and sometimes they’re just screen clutter. I can minimize them, but that bar is still gonna be there glogging up my screen.
{X}→ Reconnection. When you lose connection, save your place, there’s nothing more annoying that disconnecting and not only losing your progress, but also any hope of getting back on the map you spent an hour building up to an event on.
{X}→ Merchant > Sell all minor runes/sigils
OR
{X}→ Deposit all crafting materials INCLUDING runes and sigils, by creating a slot for them in the crafting schedule. They are after all labeled as crafting materials, taking up a slot in the crafting material bags
{X}→ Trading Post, Don’t display the cost and the tax value, instead:
Display Value and Tax return
e.g.
Glob of Ectoplasm
00 – 37 – 35 Post Value
00 – 31 – 75 Taxed value (this is what you get if you sell your item)
We’re getting offtopic here,
Sure, mr floaty absorbed the blast of the pepsification, but that doesnt explain the function of the bloodstone, regulating how magic flows in the world. that regulation is now gone, unless mr floaty also does that now.
Is pepsi the new kitten. I been gone a bit.
Pepsi is a slang for dead, destoryed, etc
++ = Very Good
+ = me like
- = would’ve done differently
— = ABSOLUTELY KITTEN
++ 1: The new map:
From the first step I took until today, I’m in an equal awe, I love the ruined zone, it really looks like a post-apocalyptic bloodstone area.
++ 2: The story chapters:
They were really good, the depth, the dialogue, the events, it was all really good.
+ 3: Difficulty:
Now, this may be more of an issue of getting used to it, rather than it actually being difficult, but I enjoyed being able to move through the content well, but being punished for slacking.
+ 4: Events:
I also really like the new events, they spur some memories of GW1, so it might be nostalgia talking, but I think they were well made. I’m not giving this a ++ because they’re on a really weird schedule making it very hard to know whats going on in the map at any given time.
- 5: Chapter Size and achievements:
Now, there are 5 instances I could rush through in a day, and the achievements I all got on the first runthough, making me think they were a bit too easy. Some achievements I even got without being aware of them. Dodge all the falling debres, well, duh, when you make such violent-looking aoe-markers my first response is ‘get the hell away from there’ so dodging all the debris was more of a given than a challenge.
— 6: Really Cheap Deaths
You can’t glide down the Maw without being sniped down a few times, and I tries using the gliding skill and the dodging, but nothing really seems to help. YOu just get hit and fall to your death. This is not difficulty, this is just cheap death.
As Anet has said repeatedly, most of Season 1 can’t come back since it involved changing the maps out in the world, so stuff like the Molten Alliance fight or the Marionette fight will sadly not be coming back. Bazaar of the Four Winds would be awkward to revive since the Zephyrites are all scattered about in Dry Top. The Queen’s Coliseum (not Jubilee, since that was an entire festival) could probably be brought back, but it would more likely be tied to some festival. Perhaps a celebration for the queen’s birthday, or in commemoration of her coronation. But I really don’t think much from Season 1 can be salvaged that hasn’t already been added back in.
But can’t you move all that to map copies?
Like, when you map travel to kessex hills, its the current version, but if you travel there using a dialogue of something, you get a copy of the old map (without all the POI’s etc)
So, I got this idea the other day, and please, hear me out.
Memoirs of the Hero:
A Priori advocate in LA, having tomes describing the events of the LS1 world.
In here, there are a few chapters describing the events for you to join. talk to one tome to get a summary of that chapter and teleport to a copy of the zone.
For example:
Compendium of Nightmare 1: A monument to fear
Teleport to Kessex Hills Redux.
Compendium of Nightmare 2: Politics Awry
Server copy of old LA and DR for the LA Noire chapter
etc
people can enter a map copy where the old events take place, allowing them to redo all the things. And since there were several biweekly updates per chapter, you can have that map instance cycle through them.
Its just an idea, discuss?
Sort of, maybe
As a warrior I play without targetting, as it works better to get used to the size of your swings and position yourself as such, kind like a zelda battle.
I’m not saying I haven’t gotten used to it myself, I already adjusted myself to the bad dodge, so it’s more of a QOL issue than a broken gameplay thing. nevertheless I still hope they someone make dodging possible when casting a skill, auto-interrupting it
So, I’m not quite sure what happened, but considering all in all, it does look like the Bloodstone did get destroyed.
I’m having a bit of an issue with the.. lateral effects.
In my understanding, the Bloodrune was made to seal all magic off, to permanently put the dragons to sleep.
Then, Abaddon came and undid the seal, releasing all magic, after which the chaos caused Doric to reseal the stone with his blood. Then it was cut in 4 pieces, effectly putting a limit to how much magic pours into the world, and making sure no [Object X] can use more than 1 of 4 types of magic, or at least greatly limiting ones’ ability to utilize more than 1.
If it’s true that one of the bloodstones broke, then shouldn’t that mean the limiter on it is also gone? All magic of that school goes back into the wild, and everyone can use their birthright school and the now for everyone unlocked school of magic?
I may be mistaken, but of the four pools, isn’t the one in the Bloodstone Fen the school of punishment? the one’s used by mesmers, necromancers, and ritualists?
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
Or better yet, that little door icon over the minimap you see when you’re finished or a guest in the instance
Dear anet
I humbly request that the same /Resign button made for raids can also be
used in story instances
Sometimes I have to redo a storyinstance several times for an achievement,
like the choice between RBYG and Got No Time For This, but having to pay
a waypoints cost to leave an instance or relogging seems arbitrary.
Can we please have /resign in instances as well
A problem I’ve had since dawn of GW2, and I’m sad to not see it fixed in such a big patch;
Dodging in combat.
Now, you’re propably thinking, “but I can dodge just fine” and yes, thats not the problem.
The problem is, dodging when doing a stream-attack, or when casting flurries. Some professions have not only strike or bullet-spell skills, but also torrent skills or flurry-attacks.
Take for example the Warrior’s Hundred Blades, while channeling this skill, you first have to press ESC or move, before the dodge button becomes functional. Especially in Fractal 51-60 where Last Laugh is a dominant buster, you want to be able to dodge quickly. When fighting 3 mobs, I use 100B because of its torrent of multitarget strikes, when one dies, I dont want to first have to cancel my flurry before I can dodge, because you don’t really get that much time during a Last Laugh.
