- around 3 min with the fight against the thief, twice he removes condis from self when blinded by dropping putrid on the enemy ( i think it was once on thieves guild). There are other vids of it too in wvwvw roam but thats the one from the guru thread from like 5 months ago talking about thief blinds.

Definitely not. I’m 100% sure, with or without Greater Marks, it was just one target.

And blindness made the mark miss, therefore the whole cleanse wouldn’t work. Drarnor is right about fear and a precast mark though (but I can’t remeber ever doing that..).

Nope, watch any of the tournaments with necros, all targets within aoe on trigger got all condis applied to them and no, blind prevents skills from hitting a target, not from working on you (it functions as a targetless cast).

Can the staff skills recharge even more reduced? Even traited it’s more waiting for skills rather then using them.

My wish on reduction incl. trait: #3: 8-12s #4: 12-14s #5: 30s torment would make sense on this one.

Again PVE pov.

Kinda designed that way, staff is there for DS and DS is mostly there for staff.

You know that if you had all (back then 11) condis on you and you hit 5 people, all of them got the full force of em, right?

Before the nerf you could only transfer 9 condition from yourself: torment didn’t exist yet, it missed when blinded and of course it wouldn’t work if you’re feared.
However, you could cleanse all 11 conditions from your allies.
What is not true though is that you could hit all targets with all conditions. Everything was transfered to just one enemy.

Bleed, Burning, Immob, Confusion, Cripple, Chill, Fear, Poison, Vuln, Weakness, Blind – all of them were removed from you on trigger, yes 1 of these could stop the actual physical damage and transfer, but not the cleanse and if you had the rest it applied the conditions to every target hit by it (not sure if it worked with greater marks since i think we had a bug report about it but i know it did normally). Hell that was the best use of PM in pve, dropping it on gravelings and slimes and risen when they stacked up stuff with you in dungeons.

Also my vote goes for either 3 pre target hit form every ally to each enemy in it and from you or full transfer from you (if its to 1 enemy or all 5 i really dont care if its full transfer).

Are you going to support 400 gem Helms if this happens to be the case? 400 for 1 armor piece?

Dude that one piece is the best worth 400 gem thing if it will be a gem purchase, hell id dish out 1600 gems for a full set (or just gloves chest boots hood if chest is the same type as mad king and cof).

Well at least they could have picked one of the two nerfs, still be a cleanse for everyone in in but only for 3 or give us our proper full cleanse we are used to that transfers all our conditions to all enemies hit (thats is ofc unless the main target/person to trigger dodges into it).

As a idiot mod fused my topic, they still didnt fix the 3 condi “cleanse” nor did they fix the incomplete transfer of conditions, making 1/5 targets immune to the skill (if you hit 5 enemies that is).

Well, since it’s 3 conditions per target hit, and there are only 12 conditions in the game, a 5th person hit will never get conditions from this skill (barring any “on-crit” procs). Not so much that 1/5 of the targets are immune, just that there is nothing left to give them.

Pretty sure only one enemy got the conditions (all of them, including those from allies), but if you have video evidence to support your claim otherwise, I’d be happy to see it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter at all now.

You realize they have a nice list of bugs they know about for at least 2-4 months already that they dont bother touching and no i know how easy coding triggers to specific offsets is because hex editing was kinda a thing i did for 3.5-4 years.

It still only transfers 3 condis pre target and if you got more it doesnt copy them over to all of your enemies but splits em (first to 3 condi, second to 3, third to 3, fourth to 3 and having no effect but the direct damage on the 5th target).

+1 for signets working in Deathshroud…. Still don’t understand why they break on DS entry.

As all transformations, they replace your skill bar, only that they are empty at the utility n heal slots.

I understand that, but DS isn’t a standard transformation (like plauge/tornado), it is our class mechanic. How many other classes have to fight with their class mechanic stopping their signets from working?

I still think that all transforms (ok exception being plague and tornado/other ways of getting it because you turn into insects/a bunch of wind + objects for the time) should have the utility/right side bar unlocked/free for use.

Assuming the standard wvwvw mesmer setup and a full 3 clone shatter, id say * bad scottish accent activated* Ye killed yerself with cha confusion stacks getting transfard boy, watch out for dem flie swarms ey bloody kitten.

Also necros do like 100 dps pre bleed stack, so 5 stacks over the duration of that fight would be enough to kill you 3 times over.

I think Life Transfer should not be interruptable. The number of times I’ve tried to use that skill, only to have it be interrupted every single time is staggering. It has a long casting time, and it has a long spell effect. Way too easy to interrupt, and it has a very long recharge time on top of that.

DS should provide more defense against CC skills. Right now any control skill hits right through it, and in wvw that means you will not get up again. That extra healthbar does nothing once you get hit by a CC skill, because you instantly get stun-locked, and DPS’d to bits.

Remember, Shaaaaade~ It made sense to have a long cast time.

Axe: Reworking It

I dont think that you guys get that warrior gs aa is just as kittenty as axe aa (keeping in mind one weapon is ranged other is melee).
While its no longer accurate because of stats and weapon changes (thus 40k hits being possible on champ mobs and 28~ on most bosses) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ckhmyUfC2Q Now say that isnt burst?

And as for Unholy feast, its the only utility you get from the weapon, thats why i said it doesnt fit it, id love if they took the current version of it and placed it on maybe a sword or poleaxe, something that is actually useful for the team. Also retaliation is there because its a pbaoe thus when you should use it you are probably surrounded, in smaller scale fights its good for the condi removal and chase potential and even for kiting.

Also D/WH/DS setup op dont touch WH either.

I think it’s a bug, even with 103% duration without master of terror u don’t get 2s fear. (tried this myself.)

Which skill are we talking about?

I had no problems with ticks when I went for +100% all condi duration (1 giver, lyssa/nightmare). How do you get 103% all anyway?
Then again there seem to be some problems (lag issues?): With +96% bleeding duration I sometimes got barbed to tick four times.

Still, how do you get +103%?

Staff #5 and ds #3 both are the same, they don’t get 2s fear without master of terror. I don’t mean ticks, I mean cc duration.

Or you can go cheaper with 2 nightmare/lich and not get over the cond duration cap while saving the 2 gold.
Only thing that goes over 100% duration cap for condis is lingering precision since it increases the duration of scepter skills by 33% of their new values.

Tooltips dont reflect condition specific duration boosts that load pre map in pve since the tooltip update (most of the time), same problem with guardians and retal duration.

I’m not convinced of the longevity of the specifics of plot, but I agree on two core points of all this:

1. Dragons need to be something that matters all the time The sense of dread, mystery, investigation, and overall central themes Zhaitan inspires during the personal story is a good benchmark. You don’t fight Zhaitan for the entire story, but the story is always ALWAYS about fighting zhaitan, even when it isn’t.

2. We need to lose. Think of it this way, Star Wars was a good movie, but it wouldn’t have been a great trilogy if the empire just packed up an went home at the end of the first one. It only became a great trilogy because of Empire, in which the heroes spend pretty much the whole movie losing, which is then handled in Jedi where they succeed against all odds/clutch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The thing is, in the LS we haven’t ever really BEEN defeated. We just win, and win, and win. The closest the enemy ever gets to winning is running away after we have thwarted their master plot… so we’ve still won, they’re just free to hatch a new plan.

Well, they can just make the dragons like dhuum, a immortal core of existence, just as you cannot kill death it can be that for example you cannot kill perfection (kralky), you cannot kill power (jormag), etc.

3 – so you wanna ruin the only good skill on axe, gratz

1.- Axe aa does crappy damage. If it doesn’t cleave, it should hit harder and/or faster.
2.- The only source of damage is easily avoided. And the damage it’s not that good to begin with. What about this: If it hits 4 times add some effect (cripple), if it hits 8 times another effect(chill).
3.- Remove retaliation, keep cripple, reduce damage and add a blast finisher, make it a defensive skill. Blast finisher on a dark field (we have a lot of those) produces area blind, which is a lot more suitable for necromancers.

Now we have a control mid range weapon.

1.) Its designed to be a crappy aa weapon, warrior gs is a crappy aa weapon too, thats because they are made for the burst skills.
2.) No, no, another no and another no, Axe 2 misses because of crappy cone and hit detection, not because enemies are out of range.
3.) Again i must say, dont touch the only universally good skill of the weapon (except for maybe cutting its cast time in half), also no blind is a thief thing.

Its mindless, since most skills that apply vuln have close to no cooldown and can keep their vuln up on a boss at least for 50% of their downtime (so 5 people each being able to apply 10 stacks of vuln constantly; aka every power build ever = boss with permanent 25% damage buff). Please stop filling the section with it.

You do know you can upgrade to the deluxe edition with game gold by buying gems right? There’s no need to QQ about “things being pushed on you when you don’t want them”. Simply save up the gold and buy it if it bothers you that much.

With the way gold-to-gems is going at the moment, I’d say its rather impossible with the rate it’s inflating.

Is that the reason why i got both of Jorys skins with gold to gem conversion despite being at 0 gold 3 days ago because i got 500 toxic samples, spore backpiece and hybrid/too lazy to farm keys(i did buy for money the gathering tool for a alt but thats just because im too lazy).

CB is a projectile, and WvW has god awful map programming that makes it have LoS and pathing issues all the time.

im almost 100% sure CB is not a projectile… it just requires LoS

Tis a projectile, invis one but still a projectile, even epidemic works as a projectile type skill since they both can be absorbed by mimic echo if you are in between the target and caster… well they were able to be absorbed (like 99% of weird skills that proc on the target), i play too little mesmer in wvwvw now to know if its still accurate.

I think apart from fixing conditions, the balance team needs to start actually playing a PVE necromancer (that would help), and they need to realize that there are other builds than condition builds. The last couple of patches they’ve been nerfing dozens of skills, just to fix Dhuumfire (without actually touching the skill that is causing all the trouble). In this process, they’ve really damaged the potential of other builds. They need to make the other traits and skills more useful, rather than focusing so much on an imbalance they created themselves by adding Dhuumfire. Because right now there aren’t that many PVE builds left that are worth anything.

I’ve currently specced my necromancer towards full toughness, just to get some passable staying power out of our class. But it’s when you invest heavily in toughness, that you start to see just how poorly toughness scales in high end PVE. It’s no wonder that people focus on zerker so much. PVE damage is out of control.

A lot of champions in PVE do so much damage, that even with high toughness it’s almost an instant kill (or instant downed). There’s also one really big bug in the game’s combat that they really need to address, and that’s the problem of some attacks hitting way more than they should. This causes one attack that already does a lot of damage, to hit like 6 times in one second. There’s lots of enemies that are guilty of this bug, and it has got to be addressed. They should simply add a rule that prevents some monster skills from dealing the same damage twice in a row.

Its not a monster but, its a hitbox detection bug, see every time you move, the data from you needs to get registered on the servers and back, so if you lets say have a increased hitbox or move in the same direction as a damage dealing wave/pulse skill, it detects you in it multiple times, for example the tequatl shockwaves while on base dealing 5k (2k if you got stability to not get the cc portion hit you up for the stronger wave hit), it might just hit you for oh i dont know 38k damage while in lich form because you moved a tiny bit back out of the fingers of taco aoe…

Same reason why fiery greatsword rush, whirlwind, axe trail thing, etc are all used on objects untargeted, you can force the same thing by stacking the aoes ontop of eachother instead of the server stacking your hitbox trough the different aoes.
They should apply some of the thief and well/trap rules to most skills, them only being able to hit a person once pre second unless its a channel (so like 100b, life transfer, etc) that are designed as “small” multi hits with a target limit.

Yeh, it just feels more of a issue. Not only dose it cost 30 traits, plus having LifeForce & DS not on CD…
But, as a overseas player, my best lag is around 430ms.
As DS dosen’t also ‘brake stun’, having to press a ‘brake stun’ ability, then DS, depends on my upload que. It’s def lots smoother on my guard, that has brake stun + stability together on the same ability.

It’s not a huge issue. It’s just another frustration, that’s compounded by the way CC destroys necro’s, with so little counter. (As our defense is generated ‘active attack’ it really is a double ouchy to be CC’ed)

Depends from net and realm, im in the EU and as said before never really get over 90 ping on copper wires. Also its stun break and no DS isnt one even if it used to be one in a time long long ago where a rebellion of emo kids fought the mighty empire of… but i digress, yeah it was op as a stun break.

Honestly, i dont care if condis are a viable damage source in pve, i just want em to be useful enough to be worth it… i barely touch my rampager gear anymore and the only 2 condis i see are immob chill and vuln (oh and sometimes cripple from my WH5 but it doesnt really do anything since the target is already permachilled).
Life siphon sustain/damage negation and control are the things id rather see ramped up on necro, there at least we got good base concepts (as in more aggression = more survival and chill fear pull or immob the crap out of mobs).

Don’t forget the hidden/undocumented bugs that became feature.

Can’t swap weapons in DS.

Putrid Mark now only removes 3 condi, and not from allies.

Minions ‘upscale’ champions/events as tho each is another player.

Foot in the Grave’s stability doesn’t work vs all CC.


Vamp ‘buff’ was only a buff if you weren’t using a siphon spec, and a buff to minion damage with power. 50% to 30% increased vamp & the nurf to what minions siphon per hit, actually dropped it by almost a quarter.

I must repeat, Stability boon as itself works as well as it does for everyone (still buggy with knockbacks as stunbreaks used to be, but works vs everything else), but it has a very tiny delay (like 0.1~0.2 of a second) on its application after you are already in ds. And no its not player lag.

It was actually so bad you had to think it must be on purpose because how could anet kitten something up this badly.

next I would like to see a necro gamebreaking bug compilation including things like:

1/3 downed health
taking double damage in DS
soul reaping not giving half it’s stats
etc.

SR did give LF, just not its full count (since just as right now if you are on full LF and add points it caused a gap), DS didnt really take double damage, it just replaced your armor value causing 99% of builds to take additional damage (since zerker necro was quite kitten back then and noone ran rampagers).

In pve terror isnt really a thing unless its a mob only/puzzle boss dungeon, so works for fractals, TA 3, AC and CoF, not so much for others, maybe a few arah paths if you got the time to retrait (because kitten ozze and spiders).

DS was never suppose to have its own armor value. It’s just suppose to have a flat reduction rate. While some discussions did talk about armor values, most of them were more or less trying to gauge an accurate health pool for DS. Anet would say what the DS value is suppose to be, while the community would say it doesn’t add up. When Anet fixed the DS HP values, they also fixed the take more damage in than intended bug. I wouldn’t be surprised if both bugs were one in the same.

But for all intents and purposes, damage taken while in DS was always reduced from all sources, even when it had broken HP values. Yes, this would make a glass cannon tanky, but only in while in DS. Easy when you’re taking a reduced amount of damage. Some parts of DS is still broken, which is why from time to time you can get knocked out of it even if you have well over 50% life force. Personally, I believe it has to do with crit damage, which is more noticeable from high crit builds, and how a full DS bar can be emptied in 1 or 2 seconds. This is something that just won’t happen when you’re not taking a lot of crit hits, even if there are 5 people beating on you.

It’s as if DS is trying to mimic the weakness condition, where some of the none glancing crit hits really does a number on the life force pool.

No, ds was supposed to use your armor and hp value to scale itself, its kinda the whole point of “you can play the way you build and the way you play should be the way you build” flexibility, at least thats what they said on every single presentation of necros up to release after the first rework (aka from the teleport from where you enter to current version).
Also no that was a bug that affected only people with bonus toughness from any source as you too mentioned zerkers and rampagers (reason why i went for that stats setup over rabid for my “condi” build) got actually damage reduction, as we have calculated on the forums (same as this because a 50% reduction rate from all damage is identical as just having double the hp, even if the bigger numbers we go the closer we get to a 49.xx number).

Either way devs need to freaking fix this kittenstorm.

One of the easiest methods to test this are one hit abilities from bosses.
Like for example the eye beam from the fourth fractal.
Normally getting hit by it would instantly down you but if you’re in Deathshroud with 100% lifeforce it will bring you down to about 15% lifeforce and not 0%.

That alone makes it fairly obvious that there’s some dmg reduction done after all calculations are done.

Oh, DS still defends you from eye lazor, even the last one? (didnt wanna gamble it in the very few times i still bother to do fractals, so i just save my dodges if i got no crystal).

So, either we take half damage while in death shroud, or the number displayed is half of what it should be.

This (in bold, but I’m having difficulty confirming how it handles crit damage) has always been the case with DS. It functions exactly like the old (not new) Aura of the Lich from gw1.

No it wasnt, that change got implemented when they removed DS absorb. DS used to have a weird base armor value/it made glass cannons a bit tanky and weakened soldier/toughness builds to medium armor level, we talked about that a lot on the forums then and had a long post on reddit.

My necro has nearly 80% boon duration (15 trait points, 40% from runes, and 24% from platinum doubloons). With this, FitG, and the 30% faster recharge on death shroud, I have 5 seconds of stability every 6 seconds (apparently the recharge trait is actually 40% instead of 30%). I’m also traited to remove one condition when entering DS and to apply 9 seconds of fury. The high boon duration also allows me to maintain might stacks through Blood is Power, sigils of battle, and the trait that applies might when using DS skill #1.

10 – 30%, the tooltip is just wrong since the game counts 0 too (so cd starts on 6-5-4-3-2-1-0.x – then finished, thus 7 seconds). BTW your are playing necro wrong if you wanna stance hop with boon duration play ele.

Bug or the coolest escape move in the game?

such an old trick though ! using spectral walk to jump off cliff due to escape or survival.

1. using spectral before jumping of cliff and return to the top again!

2. dont think many ppl knew about this , jumping of a cliff and when you have about 10 meter left before you hit the ground you double tapp spectral walk for a smooth landing taking no dmg.
Still dont think many necros IGN know about option 2.

Please stop mentioning that, every necro since release (well the first SW rework) knows of it, same for lich/well bomb, Dark pathed pact and the mark combo field save.
